[Bug 1246171] Re: crash with gcc 4.8 (aggressive-loop-optimizations)

2013-12-18 Thread Ilya Melnikov
I tested patch fix-undefined-behaviour (by Radist Morse):
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=729301#32

It solves problem for OpenMCU-ru. But probably there is other issues
with gcc 4.8 in Sofia-sip. Because this patch does not solve problems
for all users (see comment #13:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=981056#c13).

Temporarily (while this patch is not in Saucy) I build Sofia-sip in OpenMCU-ru
Dev PPA:

This doesn't seem to be an indicator-power issue. Both upower --dump
logs show upower reporting a `discharging' state when the users say
their laptops are in a charging state. If the people experiencing this
could report it upstream to the upower maintainers at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=upower ,
that would be great.

[Bug 1261730] Re: /dev/sda1 must be recovered on every boot

2013-12-18 Thread Sworddragon
I could debug it down to a testcase. Just create the file
/etc/init/test.conf with the following lines:

start on mounted and stopped mounted-tmp
exec mkdir -p /tmp/no-journal

After a reboot the recovery will happen. If you comment out the exec stanza all
is fine again. But I don't know how such a simple upstrat script would cause
this behavior.

[Bug 1259237] Re: Hybrid graphics enablement in 12.04.4

2013-12-18 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Alberto, or anyone else affected,

Accepted screen-resolution-extra into precise-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/screen-resolution-extra/0.14ubuntu2.1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1187483] Re: wireless wpa2/enterprise authentication issues

Confirm this bug in Xubuntu 13.10 (no surprise, as Ubuntu 13.10 is
affected), and the workaround in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1187483/comments/3 is working
for me as well.

[Bug 1262199] [NEW] Disk Usage thinks screen is 3000 pixels or so wide

2013-12-18 Thread Jeffrey Walton
Public bug reported:

See attached. I'm unable to horizontally resize the window. The grab bar
is available, but dragging does nothing.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to make sure the Disk Usage window is no
wider than the actual screen.

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.10
Release:13.10

My apologies if this is is misfiled. I have two programs running related
to disks, and neither are listed in the Choose Package search:

$ ps -A | grep -i disk
 2024 ?00:00:00 gvfs-udisks2-vo
 2033 ?00:00:00 udisksd

When I tried to file against, for example, udisks, I received There
is 1 error. with no feedback on what the error is/was. I think this
website is broken. Sigh...

2013-12-18 Thread Fernando Panizza
Public bug reported:

After suspend the session the system freezes. This happens when I try to resume

 To make it happen:

1- Suspend the session from the user menu

You would have to compile the kernel modules yourself using those
patches. They have not been accepted by ALSA yet, so it' probably best
to wait. Maybe they'll make into kernel 3.14.x

2013-12-18 Thread Daniel Hahler
Christopher,
it was just a quick shot, using the virtual image.

This does not bug me enough to create a bootable stick, to test it on the host.
Especially given, that I think that it is the expected behavior - given the
link to the documentation in the report.

You have added the regression-potential tag, but I would say that it
never worked properly.

Does it work on your system/touchpad?

[Bug 1262204] [NEW] tomact7 installation is confusing the user with home-directy. Tomcat is saying directory will not be created

2013-12-18 Thread Michael Basse
Public bug reported:

i installed tomcat7 on a fresh ubuntu 12.04 installation (fully dist-
upgraded)

created (sorry its german)

installation

So as it seems the message from the installer is wrong, because its
saying home-directly will not be created but it was creating the
home.directoy.

As an additinal info:
i used ubuntu-bug tomcat7 directly after the installation, so i did not
change aynthing.

michael@raidbuntu:~$ ls -all /etc/tomcat7/tomcat-users.xml
-rw-r- 1 root tomcat7 1530 Feb 25 2012 /etc/tomcat7/tomcat-users.xml

So seems like, ubuntu-bug is executing it as my normal user michael
which is not part of tomcat7 or root.

[Bug 1262069] Re: Cannot boot from live ISO with more than one hdd attached to system

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Phil Wyett, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could
you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder, but
v3.13-rc3, as rc4 doesn't have all the necessary files) following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream
kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this
bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc4

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your
understanding.

[Bug 1259457] Re: Thunderbird Lightning no sound

2013-12-18 Thread Janos G. Komaromi
SOLVED!

Bug closed - stupid me...
What happened was due to two things, I guess.
(1) The unorthodox location of Tunderbird Profile.
(2) *.wav file association was broken, probably because I removed distro based
music player.

Solution:
(a) Right clicked on a wav file, Properties, and set Open with to VLC media
player.
(b) In Thunderbird and Lightnin Edit Preferences Browse and point back again to
my chosen sound file.

Tested and it works.

Hope it'll help someone,

jankom

[Bug 1248917] Re: WLan not working on Surface Pro 2

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
uboot fanat, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this?

[Bug 1251369] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Tablet] Disable while typing does not disable touchpad completely (only scrolling)

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Daniel Hahler, thank you for your comments. Regarding them:
This does not bug me enough to create a bootable stick, to test it on the
host.

Ok. If you get bugged enough, this could always be resumed with your
testing results.

Especially given, that I think that it is the expected behavior - given
the link to the documentation in the report.

What one would expect is up to you, given you filed the report.

You have added the regression-potential tag, but I would say that it
never worked properly.

What was the earliest release tested on your host?

Does it work on your system/touchpad?

Yes, but I don't have your hardware.

[Bug 1243429] Re: NFS Lockups with 13.04 clients to 12.04.03 server

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ted Cabeen, thank you for your response. Would it be terribly
inconvenient to test if a 12.04.03 client works with your 12.04.03
server? This would help narrow down if the issue is client, or server.

Also, regarding your testing
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1243429/comments/15
was this tested on the client or server?

[Bug 1232828] Re: Bluetooth indicator comes back on reboot

2013-12-18 Thread Charles Kerr
I've confirmed this is still the case on a 2013-12018 update before
touching /userdata/.writable_image, but bluetooth stays off after the
image becomes writable.

This sounds a little like bug #1230275; however, indicator-bluetooth no
longer pokes /dev/rfkill directly. Instead, it just powers the default
bluez adapter on/off via bluez' dbus API.

Is it possible that bluez is making changes that aren't getting saved
due to permissions issues?

[Bug 1260068] Re: Unity continuous-integration fails in armhf due possibly to a libegl issue

2013-12-18 Thread Stephen M. Webb
To build Unity and run the tests in an up-to-date Trusty build
environment you need to use the GTK fix branch (API changes in GTK
prevent Unity from building using trunk).

# apt-get build-dep unity
# bzr branch lp:~townsend/unity/fix-gtk-build-error/
# cd fix-gtk-build-error
# dpkg-buildpackage

The unit tests are run as a part of the packaging build.

The file tests/dummy-xorg-test-runner.sh is a shell script use to invoke
a headless X.org server against which the tests get run. I believe this
is where the problem lies. It looks like the headless X.org server does
not start properly on armhf targets with the new Mesa. It may be
possible to avoid building Unity to reproduce this problem if it occurs
just running that script.

[Bug 1247667] Re: 1969:10a1 [Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P] alx module problem (wakeonlan)

2013-12-18 Thread Sam Gweon
Actually, I do not understand this.

Every new device that is not supported by old kernels could be called to
have an upstream bug.

I hope you do not mean this, and I hope you did not misunderstand the
situation.

Please keep in mind that I did not really use any old ubuntu distros
with this computer. Since I bought this new laptop very recently (early
November), I tested 12.04 (which is the one that I used with my old
laptop), and then I installed 13.10, which was the latest at that time.

[Bug 1258837] Re: [Dell Latitude E7440] ALPS touchpad keeps having state reset

2013-12-18 Thread Allan Crooks
Updated the BIOS as you suggested. From the terminal:

allanc@wyvern:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s
bios-release-date
A06
12/05/2013
allanc@wyvern:~$ uname -a
Linux wyvern 3.13.0-031300rc3-generic #201312061335 SMP Fri Dec 6 18:37:23 UTC
2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

And looking at the logs after a while:
Dec 18 12:24:23 wyvern kernel: [ 7576.635161] psmouse serio1: GlidePoint at
isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
Dec 18 12:24:23 wyvern kernel: [ 7576.635165] psmouse serio1: issuing reconnect
request
Dec 18 12:32:14 wyvern kernel: [ 8048.029215] psmouse serio1: GlidePoint at
isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
Dec 18 12:32:14 wyvern kernel: [ 8048.029218] psmouse serio1: issuing reconnect
request
Dec 18 12:42:03 wyvern kernel: [ 8636.722053] psmouse serio1: GlidePoint at
isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
Dec 18 12:42:03 wyvern kernel: [ 8636.722056] psmouse serio1: issuing reconnect
request

I'm using the latest kernel (as suggested in comment 3) and the
resetafter parameter (as suggested in comment 5). I find it difficult to
recreate on demand. I managed to see those errors within half an hour of
resuming the laptop from suspend. I didn't see any such messages in the
log while I was testing prior to putting it on standby, and I haven't
seen any messages a while after resuming. I'll test with it more.

[Bug 1223647] Re: [AR8161][1969:1091][wired connection failed] wired connection could not be established until re-insert alx kernel module or re-enable networking via network manager indicator

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Taihsiang Ho, given the Quantal updates was done in 2013-02-18, it would
be helpful to know if upstream has provided a backport support fix for
this issue via the linux-next latest development release -
http://drvbp1.linux-foundation.org/~mcgrof/rel-html/backports/ . If you
boot into this, does anything change?

[Bug 1253962] Re: hangs on startup

2013-12-18 Thread Jeroen Meijer
Same here, but it also happen on the play button in Rhythmbox itself. It
is an almost-certainty after the first login or boot (for me this is
virtually the same thing). Time counter and slider stay on 0:00, one
core goes to 100%, UI freezes. Closing brings up the dialog if I want to
kill it. Doing so and restarting Rhythmbox most of the times fixes the
problem, but not always.

Most definately started after moving from 13:04 to 13:10.

Hope this helps.

Jeroen

[Bug 553400] Re: No keyboard with init=/bin/bash

2013-12-18 Thread Jeroen T. Vermeulen
As far as I'm concerned we can just close this bug. It's been more than
3½ years, and I think I've seen it working in the meantime (if probably
on different hardware).

[Bug 1215922] Re: [Microsoft Corporation Surface with Windows 8 Pro] hibernate/resume failure

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Tony S. Hariman, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this?

[Bug 1247667] Re: 1969:10a1 [Lenovo IdeaPad Y510P] alx module problem (wakeonlan)

2013-12-18 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Sam Gweon, thank you for your comments. Regarding them:
Every new device that is not supported by old kernels could be called to have
an upstream bug.

This is incorrect. If a bug is reproducible in an Ubuntu (downstream)
kernel but not mainline (upstream), it's not an upstream bug.

Please keep in mind that I did not really use any old ubuntu distros
with this computer. Since I bought this new laptop...

If you want to maximize the speed of this bug being fixed, you would
want to follow the instructions advised to you in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1247667/comments/26
.
