[Bug 1195148] Re: 10de:11bc [Dell Precision M6700] With external monitor plugged, this system cannot be suspended by closing the lid
It doesn't change anything with A11 BIOS and 3.5.0-44. Step: 1. Boot to desktop, plug the D-Sub cable, make sure the external display works 2. Close the lid Expected results: * System could be suspended Actual results: * both display on external monitor and laptop screen were off, but it was not suspended. Power LED was not blinking, and if you move the external mouse with lid closed, the external display will be back. sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date A11 08/27/2013 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1195148 Title: 10de:11bc [Dell Precision M6700] With external monitor plugged, this system cannot be suspended by closing the lid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1195148/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 828756] Re: getting "connection is untrusted" warnings
I get this error within my Enlightenment session. I originally installed Ubuntu as Bodhi, but then disabled its repositories and have since reinstalled *every* package with --force- confnew --force-confask to get rid of this issue. This did not help at all. What did help is the instruction in comment #39. Instructions for E17: * Settings Console -> Applications -> Desktop Environments: + Start GNOME Services on login * Settings Console -> Applications -> Autostart Applications: + PolicyKit Authentication Agent (this bug is also reported against p11-kit, so I figured I might enable it, even though it seems unrelated) + Certificate And Key Storage (this is probably the most important one, but I did not bother to test it alone) + Secret Storage Service + GPG Password Agent + SSH Key Agent Please note that *both* settings were necessary. [Bug 1264338] Re: could not route the host for container
Hi Robie Thank you so much for your reply. I don't know whether it is a bug for the lxc of ubuntu . But I will try to describe the issue I met in detail. My Lxc version is: lxc version: 0.7.5 My Operation system information as following Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS My purpose is to create the container and execute the command remotely on the new container. I think the lxclite is just the wrapper for the standard lxc tool . I currently write a simple demo to show the issue . The following is the test case 1 #!/usr/bin/python import commands from fabric.api import settings from fabric.operations import run import sys def main(): result = commands.getstatusoutput("lxc-create -t ubuntu -n test") if result[0] != 0: sys.exit(1) result = commands.getstatusoutput("lxc-start -d -n test") if result[0] != 0: sys.exit(1) result = commands.getstatusoutput("awk '{ print $4,$3 }' /var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases | column -t | grep test |awk '{print $2}'") ip = result[1] print ip with settings(host_string=ip,user="ubuntu",password="ubuntu"): print run("whoami",shell=True) if __name__ == "__main__": main() The above test code just use python module to call the standard lxc tool , and then using the fabric to execute the command on the new container. The IP address for the new container could be extract correctly , but the remote command execution will not work due to the low level socket error as following fabric.exceptions.NetworkError: Low level socket error connecting to host 10.0.3.223 on port 22: No route to host (tried 1 time) I check the info for the container > lxc-info -n test state: RUNNING pid: 14646 The test case 2 is that I keep the container running , and just run the code for remote command execution #!/usr/bin/python from fabric.api import settings from fabric.operations import run import commands result = commands.getstatusoutput("awk '{ print $4,$3 }' /var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases | column -t | grep test |awk '{print $2}'") ip = result[1] print ip with settings(host_string=ip,user="ubuntu",password="ubuntu"): print run("whoami",shell=True) ~ And it will work , the output is : [10.0.3.223] run: whoami [10.0.3.223] out: ubuntu [10.0.3.223] out: ubuntu My personal opinion is that after the lxc-create and lxc-start , the lxc tool may have update some network information on the system so that the system can route the ip to the right place . In test case 1, all the steps on in one process , so the process may not know the update information for the network . Maybe I need some code to reimport the network information into the process . Due to I am a new guy in lxc , I don't have any concept about it . So hope you can help me , thanks . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264338 Title: could not route the host for container To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1264338/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1264426] Re: Appletouch driver moves cursor in steps
** Description changed: When using the appletouch driver on a Macbook 3,1, the cursor moves in - noticable horizontal or vertical 'steps'. This is particularly + noticeable horizontal or vertical 'steps'. This is particularly noticeable when dragging a diagonal line. This can make the trackpad very difficult to use, as it becomes hard to hone in on small objects, particularly if the user has opted for a faster cursor. This issue is also described in a forum thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=813884&page=6 There is a workaround that involves modifying and recompiling appletouch.c with a couple of changes. This is also detailed in bug #1034132. Original: #define ATP_FUZZ 16 #define ATP_THRESHOLD 5 New: #define ATP_FUZZ 0 #define ATP_THRESHOLD 2 This makes the trackpad much more usable, though slight stepping is - still noticable. I've found the modification below seems to provide a + still noticeable. I've found the modification below seems to provide a small amount of additional smoothness: Original: pcum += (xy_sensors[i] - threshold) * i; psum += (xy_sensors[i] - threshold); New: pcum += (xy_sensors[i]) * i; psum += (xy_sensors[i]); Regression testing will be necessary on the earlier (pre-geyser 4) models to rule out the possibility that these changes would just be trading better behavior for some models at the expense of others; if that were the case, some conditional logic would be in order. I expect this bug to hit a larger audience as owners of Macbooks too old for OS X Mavericks begin to migrate to Linux. [Bug 1264148] Re: dbus blocking all graphical logins
Just for confirmation -- the ubuntu-bug attached files here are from Saucy, but the bug happened under Raring, correct? The dbus version listed in the Dependencies.txt file would certainly have the ability to block specific dbus-messages via AppArmor configuration; the version in Raring should not have had that ability, unless you were playing around with pre-release AppArmor packages. Of course there's some policy mechanisms in pre-Saucy Dbus as well, but I'm much less familiar with that... For information on the Saucy AppArmor Dbus integration, check out http://penguindroppings.wordpress.com/2013/10/18/application-isolation- with-apparmor-part-iii/ Since you've still got your Raring install around, it'd be nice to know the version of the dbus, apparmor, and linux-image* packages installed, and logging from the /var/log/syslog at the time of a failed login attempt. That'll help us figure out where to place the blame. [Bug 1264213] Re: PCI/internal sound card not detected
I took some severe measures (dpkg remove, ignore dependencies) to eliminate the audio ppa software from my system and reinstall the base software and kernel modules. Rebooted. Still no luck. Then reinstalled the ppa software with the long line of install code at SoundTroubleshootingProcedure in the Ubuntu Community Documentation. My audio is now working again. Still, took hours and a lot of experimentation to get to this point. It would be better if audio wasn't fragile to occasional hard shutdowns. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264213 Title: PCI/internal sound card not detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1264213/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 744812] Re: FontConfig/Qt stack choke on Ubuntu Medium font meta-data (No medium in Inkscape and too bold in Qt apps)
I'm using Ubuntu font family in Debian Sid (Xfce) and I still get this bug when using VLC (that uses Qt). I'm not a developer, nor a programmer, but after reading the whole report and found where the bug lies, I've managed to fix it copying the method used for the Delicious font in conf.avail/80-delicious.conf and adapting it for the Ubuntu font. I attached the file to put in /etc/fonts/conf.d/ or in ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/ but the code for Ubuntu Medium Italic doesn't work (when Regular Italic is used for interface, Medium Italic is still used in VLC/Qt). Probably it's very easy to someone more experienced than me to fix this patch for correct Medium Italic handling. After that I have to rebuild the font cache as root (sudo) and as user, or it doesn't work. Is a possible solution to bring this file (properly fixed) with ubuntu font deb package? In case it should be placed in /usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail/ and symlinked to /etc/fonts/conf.d/ I'm using those libraries versions, if it matters: Fontconfig ver.: 2.11.0-2 FreeType ver.: 2.5.2-1 ** Attachment added: "81-ubuntu.conf" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+bug/744812/+attachment/3936351/+files/81-ubuntu.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744812 Title: FontConfig/Qt stack choke on Ubuntu Medium font meta-data (No medium in Inkscape and too bold in Qt apps) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fontconfig/+bug/744812/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. As far as I can tell, lxclite does not ship with Ubuntu. [Bug 1264426] [NEW] Appletouch driver moves cursor in steps
Public bug reported: When using the appletouch driver on a Macbook 3,1, the cursor moves in noticable horizontal or vertical 'steps'. Original: #define ATP_FUZZ 16 #define ATP_THRESHOLD 5 New: #define ATP_FUZZ 0 #define ATP_THRESHOLD 2 This makes the trackpad much more usable, though slight stepping is still noticable. [Bug 921714] Re: Macbook overheating
mdgill, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux If reproducible, could you also please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed.
