[Bug 1165104] Re: oneconf is only showing the pc you are on in raring and isn't sharing to other machines
Ok. Steps to test the patched oneconf in Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy: 1. If you haven't enabled software sync yet, do it first: open Ubuntu Software Center (USC) and choose File Sync Between Computers in the menu (you'll be prompted for your Ubuntu One credentials if sync wasn't enabled yet). Then close USC. 2. Download the patched oneconf code from http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~brunonova/oneconf/lp1165104/tarball/275?start_revid=275 , then extract it (it's an archive; this link was not very easy to find). 3. Open a terminal inside the extracted oneconf source directory (the folder lp1165104, containing several folders and files like oneconf- service). 4. Start the oneconf-service with the command ./oneconf-service --debug, and watch the debug messages. If it reports that oneconf is already running, execute oneconf-query --stop then run the previous command again. Keep an eye out for WARNING and ERROR messages, and messages like credential not found. The Error in loading other_hosts file warning is perfectly fine if this is the first sync. 5. Wait for the sync to finish (wait for half a minute or so). Then open USC, go to the installed software tab (or File Sync Between Computers). See if USC says something like Last sync DATE/TIME at the bottom (below the list of computers). If yes, then it seems the software list was successfully synced to the server. Then close USC. --- Repeat the previous steps in another computer(s) (you can use Virtualbox as another computer). --- 6. Now to see if the software list is synced between computers (through the server). Stop the oneconf-service (oneconf-query --stop) in both computers. Then start it again (./oneconf-service --debug) in one computer. After the sync finishes, do the same for the other computer. Then open USC in both computers and go to the installed software tab. Check if all computers are listed and if, when you select another computer, if USC displays the differences between the computers (what is installed in both/what is only installed in one/what is only installed in the other). If yes, it works! If not, repeat this step one or two more times. Also, the synced data is stored in the directory ~/.cache/oneconf/RANDOM_NAME. The files other_hosts and package_list_* are of particular interest. If you want to clear the oneconf cache (and start from fresh), delete (or move) the RANDOM_NAME directory. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1165104 Title: oneconf is only showing the pc you are on in raring and isn't sharing to other machines To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1165104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1256511] Re: Sounds settings lost after reboot
I am experiencing the same problem. My pc is connected to HDMI monitor with build-in speakers and also to 5.1 surround speakers. On 12.04 and 13.04 I was able to set the Analog-Output ( 5.1 speakers) as my default output device. This setting remained across reboots. [Bug 836876] Re: not checked permissions in /tmp
Verified in Trusty guest, via Trusty host with virtualbox. However, in the Trusty guest, it has a more drastic issue, in that attempting to switched over to Ctrl+Alt+F1 - Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) vm tty1 vm login: *starting [OK] * Stopping Restore Sound Card State [OK] and stops there. The root cause of the problem here is /tmp was deleted, not that xserver didn't check for the correct permissions on /tmp. However, given one-off scenarios (ex. disk sector failures, maliciousness, etc.) it wouldn't hurt to have this be checked for. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium = Wishlist ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Assignee: Canonical X.org (canonical-x) = (unassigned) ** Tags added: trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/836876 Title: not checked permissions in /tmp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/836876/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1259326] Re: system-update panel not blocking screen lock/blank while downloading
I'm also not sure this will directly address the original description, since AFAICT, the powerd API only gives me the option of preventing suspends. We have no control over display locking and blanking. I'm also not clear on how blanking or locking would have any effect on system-image-dbus downloading files, unless this causes system-settings to call PauseDownload and never resume it? [Bug 1259326] Re: system-update panel not blocking screen lock/blank while downloading
Oh, I think I understand. You want system-image-dbus to prevent suspends while it's downloading via the powerd dbus api? Is there any better documentation of this api than this page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/powerd and http://www.mattfischer.com/blog/?p=460 or UTSL? Is it better for s-i-dbus to prevent suspends than the system-settings ui? If so, these would be the steps s-i-dbus takes: * Do nothing during CheckForUpdate(). If system suspends during this method, it should be easy enough to just recheck. * Call requestSysState(1) first thing during DownloadUpdate() * Call clearSysState() when the update finished for any reason (i.e. UpdateDownloaded success signal, UpdateFailed failiure signal, or UpdatePaused signal) * Call requestSysState(1) when a paused update is resumed. This means that when the ui calls ApplyUpdate() we will *not* requestSysState(1) since the reboot will happen almost immediately. Although, if the state is automatically reset upon reboot, we could probably do it without much harm. This also means that during a paused download, the system could still suspend. I think that's it; can you think of anything else? ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-image Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-image Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-image Milestone: None = 2.1 ** Tags added: client -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1259326 Title: system-update panel not blocking screen lock/blank while downloading To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-system-image/+bug/1259326/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: + N.B. update-manager should not be release to quantal-updates until after + Raring has become End of Life as people may still want to upgrade to + Raring from Quantal. + [Test Case] There is not an easy way to test that this doesn't work as the meta-release file on changelogs.ubuntu.com indicates and will continue to indicate that Raring is supported. However, one can test upgrades from Quantal to Saucy via the following: 1) Install the version of update-manager form quantal-proposed 2) Run update-manager -c -p 3) Observe a dialog box that indicating that Ubuntu 13.10 is available and that you have Ubuntu 12.10. 4) Choose to Upgrade 5) Observe release announcement for Ubuntu 13.10 6) Continue to upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 Due to the way releases of Ubuntu will be reaching End of Life (Ubuntu 13.04 becomes EOL before Ubuntu 12.10) we need to create an upgrade path for users of 12.10. It has been decided that we will have them upgrade from 12.10 to 13.10, because 14.04 doesn't come out until April 2014 the same time that Ubuntu 13.04 become EOL. For this upgrade to be possible two changes will need to occur. In the 12.10 version of update-manager the code will need to be changed so that an upgrade from Quantal to Saucy is possible. This will be staged in -proposed for testing and when Raring becomes EOL it will be released to -updates. In addition to the above change, the saucy version of the release upgrader will be need to be modified to allow upgrades from Quantal to Saucy. This can be done by creating a new DistUpgrade.cfg file named DistUpgrade.cfg.quantal which will have changes relevant to the upgrade from Quantal to Saucy. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1258639 Title: need to support upgrades from 12.10 to 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1258639/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1155202] Re: [Intel DZ77SL-50K, Intel PantherPoint HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all
Ok, here's a good news. I believe I have a code change to overcome chip bug. A bit of debug description: I collected couple of more win7 IOMMU traces. It turns out even win7 sometimes does not detect mask in first place. It did about 20 read/writes before reading mask again. I mirrored those r/w in hda driver, which enabled the mask for me, and selectively removed unneeded I/Os by trial and error. The code is in azx_reset function. In my inference, it simply resets the chip, but the exact timing between resetting the chip, polling reset bit and setting reset bit is important. I tried playing with the delays, but found only this combo to be working. Added code it pretty crude, but I'd like to see a revised version of it in ubuntu as well as upstream driver. Here is the code added: snd_printk(KERN_ERR SFX GCTL read %x\n,azx_readl(chip, GCTL)); azx_writel(chip, GCTL, 0x100); do{ mytemp = azx_readl(chip, GCTL); /* mytemp delacred as int, just a temperory to hold reads */ snd_printk(KERN_ERR SFX GCTL read %x\n,mytemp); }while(mytemp != 0x0); azx_writel(chip, GCTL, 0x1); usleep_range(1000, 1200); mytemp = azx_readw(chip, STATESTS); -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1155202 Title: [Intel DZ77SL-50K, Intel PantherPoint HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1155202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1264686] Re: comedilib: FTBFS: calib_yacc.y:340:2: error: too many arguments to function 'calib_yyparse'
I'm not sure what's causing this bug. However I've got comedilib 0.10.1 compiled for 12.04 fine on my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~delmic- soft/+archive/odemis/+sourcepub/3743563/+listing-archive-extra . It's based on the debian package and I didn't have to do anything special with respect to bison. Note that I _had_ to do a special trick to compile the right version of comedi_calibrate. The latest version of the tarball is actually since today available at http://www.comedi.org/download/comedi_calibrate-2.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264686 Title: comedilib: FTBFS: calib_yacc.y:340:2: error: too many arguments to function 'calib_yyparse' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/comedilib/+bug/1264686/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
