[Bug 1220426] Re: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad
I have created file /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf with following entry: options psmouse proto=imps I have rebooted the notebook and had to increase pointer speed of trackpad under System settings Mouse Touchpad after reboot. So far I don't have any issues with trackpad freezing. Default parameter proto for psmouse module is set to auto. The current value of the proto paramater of psmouse kernel module can be read from /sys/module/psmouse/parameters/proto file: cat /sys/module/psmouse/parameters/proto After creating /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf file parameter is set to ImPS/2. The idea for changing psmouse proto parameter came from https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input- synaptics/+question/176273. So the quick fix would be: 1.) Run following command from terminal: echo options psmouse proto=imps | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf /dev/null 2.) Reboot the system or reload psmouse module from terminal with following commands: sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse 3.) Increase the speed of pointer under System settings Mouse Touchpad Can anyone else confirm this fix ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220426 Title: [nvidia-prime]Freeze while using touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-319/+bug/1220426/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1283702] Re: Dash appears instead of Spread when Super+W is tapped faster than dash_tap_duration
** Description changed: The bug: - When Super+W is pressed quickly, the Dash appears instead of the Spread. The fact that W has also been pressed is ignored. “Quickly” means the duration less then the dash_tap_duration parameter which is found in Launcher tab of the CompizConfig Settings Manager as the “Dash tap duration”. + When Super+W is pressed quickly, the Dash appears instead of the Spread. The fact that W has also been pressed is ignored. “Quickly” means the duration less than the dash_tap_duration parameter which is found in Launcher tab of the CompizConfig Settings Manager as the “Dash tap duration”. Steps to reproduce: – open CompizConfig Settings Manager – in Launcher tab, change the parameter “Dash tap duration” to some high value, say 1000 milliseconds (more is prohibited) – press Super+W within the duration not more than one second – WHAT IS EXPECTED: Spread mode should appear – WHAT HAPPENS INSTEAD: Dash appears Obviously, this bug can also be reproduced with the default value of dash_tap_duration (250ms) but with the higher value it's more evident and easier to reproduce. [Bug 195483] Re: Sound Juicer - MP3 quality doesn't change
@Simon I have tried Sound Juicer 3.4.0 and it no longer provides a way to adjust MP3 ripping parameters, at least not via the GUI. [Bug 1276901] Re: alsa-lib: UCM - hammerhead sound doesn't work
Chris (c.hu...@gmx.at) created a fix. It's not working 100% and sometimes sound crashes or it contains vibrations, but the basics work! Here is his message from the mailing-list: Hey Here is my attempt to get sound working at hammerhead. The files are not final and i haven't tested everything, but they should be fine to get speaker, headphones and sound during calls working. Unpack the attached archive and copy the folder to /usr/share/alsa/ucm/. Would be great if someone could test them and give me feedback. [Bug 1242185] Re: [regression] cups-daemon hard-depends on avahi-daemon
I have now done modifications on the CUPS daemon (Trusty, cups 1.7.1-5ubuntu3) so that it - does not require avahi-daemon be started before cupsd. If avahi-daemon is started later, cupsd picks it up anyway and so starts Bonjour-broadcasting its shared printers as soon as avahi-daemon is up and running. - is robust against stopping and restarting avahi-daemon. Bonjour broadcasts of shared printers stop when avahi-daemon stops and start gain when avahi-daemon starts again. This eliminates the start order dependency between cupd and avahi-daemon (cups-browsed has similar functionality, so there are no startup order dependencies between the three). In addition it improves server robustness and usability, as restarting avahi-daemon (after a configuration change for example) does not require restarting cups or cups-browsed any more. So I want everyone with this problem to do a test: First, if you are not running Trusty (14.04 LTS under development), install this system on a USB stick or a spare machine/partition. Boot the system, set up printers and share them. Share also printers on other machines so that they get visible in your test system. Check whether the printer sharing in both directions works. Now edit the files /etc/init/cups.conf and /etc/init/cups-browsed.conf removing the line and started avahi-daemon After that reboot your test system and check whether the printer sharing in both directions works. Uninstall the avahi-daemon package and see whether after reboot cupsd and cups-browsed are running. You will not have printer sharing but should be able to print locally. Install avahi-daemon again, printer sharing in both directions should kick in immediately. Does this all work? ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242185 Title: [regression] cups-daemon hard-depends on avahi-daemon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1242185/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1283767] [NEW] Please shutdown unused disks
Public bug reported: Hi I have a multidisks pc, a raid 1 with the system I use and two other disks each one with his OS. The problem is that if I use one system, the other disks still spining till I shutdown the machine, ®Windows® 8® instead® shut them down if unused (I'm sorry but is true). Ok that disks needs to be running to be mounted, but once that this si done, if they are really unused as it happens mostly on my system it is greatly better to switch them off or find a way to frezee'em up, reactivating them when they are needed. I think that is better to wait few seconds more to reactivate a shutted down disk that to waste unusefully energy. [Bug 1244764] Re: ubuntu 13.10 bluetooth not working correctly
I'm having the same or very similar problem. When I turn Bluetooth off I am not able to turn it on again. It just pops back to off. The only way for me to get it enabled again is first run: sudo rfkill list all, find the bluetooth device: 2: tpacpi_bluetooth_sw: Bluetooth Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no I then run sudo rfkill unblock 2 and I can turn on Bluetooth again. I do not understand why the it's being soft blocked. I have tried booting Manjaro Gnome and it doesn't have this problem, so it seems to be a Ubuntu problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1244764 Title: ubuntu 13.10 bluetooth not working correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1244764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1283789] [NEW] auth info dialog not showing
Public bug reported: There is a bug in version 1.4.2 of system-config-printer (on saucy) when you want to use a printer needing authentication (configured with auth- info-required=username,password). [Bug 1283236] Re: Alarm is shown with an incorrect time and does not trigger
It seems some layer is interpreting the alarm time being requested as UTC instead of the local timezone, thereby scheduling it 5 hrs too far ahead. It looks like clock and the alarm api expect localtime although this is not explicit in the API doc. We should ensure that timezone changes are reacted to properly for saved alarms. Perhaps all alarms should be saved in UTC and converted as appropriate. ** Changed in: ubuntu-clock-app Assignee: (unassigned) = Nekhelesh Ramananthan (nik90) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1283236 Title: Alarm is shown with an incorrect time and does not trigger To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-datetime/+bug/1283236/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1283793] [NEW] Keyboard doesn't respond during login and in unity without re-selecting it from the keyboard selector
Public bug reported: This has been an issue for me since I installed Trusty. It's a relatively short-lived issue each time I start up, as I need to enable the keyboard before I can log in, and then I can type into the password field. I have removed the EN-US keyboard, as I'm using an EN-GB keyboard. Happy to do some diagnostics, but I'm not hugely technical! [Bug 827669] Re: [138a:0018] Validity Sensors fingerprint reader not recognized
After some testing with the fingerprint reader integration of ubuntu, there are some minor problems with the fingerprint use. - The fingerprint reading is way too accurate. 1 out of 3 the fingerprint reads correctly. Maybe this is good on security standards. - The passwords keyring does not unlock if you log in with fingerprint. A popup will show to unlock the stored passwords keyring after you login. You need to log in back with your password (without fingerprint) and set a blank password on your keyring. -Everytime you do anything that needs your root password it will ask you for your fingerprint (even in the terminal). If you do not want to swipe your fingerprint you need to wait some seconds to timeout and then input your password. I think that the fingerprint integration in ubuntu has not matured to a level of reliability like in windows, but is nice to have your hardware working 100% and everything can be used. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/827669 Title: [138a:0018] Validity Sensors fingerprint reader not recognized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libfprint/+bug/827669/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1283589] Re: [Samsung NP530U3C-A01] LID close, AC, and battery status events not produced anymore
UPDATED v2: Safer because it obtains the EC ports automatically from /proc/ioports, and it micro-pauses between queries, so that the EC returns each event only once. This replaces the little program in #3. This is the program I made, that unstucks the computer so that it can send LID and AC and Battery events again. (it queries the embedded controller queued events, thus unblocking the EC so that it can start sending them again).
