[Bug 1256511]
Created attachment 96338 Output of pulseaudio -vvv after changing the audio profile to analog and restarting pulseaudio Hi, I have exactly the same bug. The pulseaudio settings always fall back to a HDMI-only profile after reboot, no matter which profile/audio output I choose using pavucontrol or the KDE audio settings. I have a Dell U2711 monitor, connected via a DisplayPort cable (which supports audio). This monitor has a sound output terminal, which I don't use and don't want to use. To get my audio back, after every reboot I have to change back the card profile to analog audio using pavucontrol or: pactl set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-_00_1b.0 output:analog-stereo (and then change back the audio sink to the analog port if necessary, using e.g.: pactl move-sink-input 6 alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo). I have attached the output of pactl list, as well as the output of pulseaudio -vvv before and after changing the card profile as requested by Tanu Kaskinen in Commen6 #6. [Bug 1298345] [NEW] Touchpad does not register mouse click when finger is moving on touchpad
Public bug reported: On my Thinkpad T420s the Ubuntu does no longer register clicks on the hardware buttons below the touchpad while a finger is moving on the touchpad. This worked before the upgrade to 14.04. This means that a lot of clicks are not registered when they should be. For example when moving and clicking on tabs at the top of the firefox window. [Bug 1279760] Re: Take into account the debotstrapped environment
The creation of the symbolic link /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail - original, controlled by a debconf question, was introduced in Debian (where resolvconf is only an optional package, not included in the base install) in order to minimize the deleterious effects of resolvconf being installed on a running system whose maintainer isn't yet sure how to configure resolvconf. The symlink ensures that needed nameserver addresses are included in resolv.conf until such time as the maintainer adds those addresses to /etc/network/interfaces (and deletes the tail-original symlink). Resolvconf has been part of the base Ubuntu system since 12.04 and so I would say that as of Ubuntu 14.04 the utility value of this feature is zero. So long as the feature hasn't been removed from Ubuntu resolvconf, the default answer to link-tail-to-original should be false. I would also be in favor of no longer asking the debconf question. ** Summary changed: - Take into account the debotstrapped environment + Resolvconf creates /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail-original symlink in debootstrap environment -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1279760 Title: Resolvconf creates /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail-original symlink in debootstrap environment To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/1279760/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1298191] Re: package nginx-naxsi-ui 1.4.1-3ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete. If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: nginx (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1298191 Title: package nginx-naxsi-ui 1.4.1-3ubuntu1.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/+bug/1298191/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1298374] [NEW] Bluetooth applet doesn't remember state

Re: [Bug 1267393] Re: [MIR] juju-core, juju-mongodb, gccgo-go, gccgo-4.9, golang
@adam I think you'd agree that the obvious and simple usecase isn't I installed juju-core on my Ubuntu desktop so I can rollout charms on OSX and Solaris. Don't forget it will not support: old Ubuntu versions, Arm64, or power, other versions of Linux, Windows, or anything but the series that the package belongs to. I think we can all agree that a Trusty desktop and Precise database server is a pretty common situation, and the combination of all the things that won't work is definitely common enough to make it a real issue. So, if we can build them with the packages, what's stopping us from having a package that includes the bits, and even depends on the right things to set up a simplestreams provider that people can use on their closed networks? We certainly *can* do that. I have no objection to it in principle. But, before we go down the path of what's stopping us, Let's take a look at the situation now: The obvious and simple use case is that I'm using Amazon, or Azure, Joyent, or HP Cloud. In those cases the tools are pre-published to a cloud local bucket and it would slow things down and create pain for the user if binaries had to be copied over from the local disk into the cloud. To top it off, the jujud binary isn't used locally (except of course when you are deploying charms locally) so having it on local disk is just waste in those cases. Furthermore, we need tools to be published to all the major clouds *before* the matching client lands in Ubuntu, because a new clients can require matching tools to bootstrap a new environment. (We do however maintain and stringently test backwards compatibility with already bootstrapped environments). We *have to* publish tools in simplestreams. We *can* put them in the package too -- as a limited and broken fallback mechanism that doesn't support multiple archs, doesn't support multiple series, doesn't support multiple OS's. My question is, if I take folks away from current projects, and have them update the packaging so that the tools you mention are there, what exactly does that buy us? I'm happy to do it, but I would like to know why exactly you want it, and what benifit it provides to our users. Another idea we had was to build tools for all supported series, OS's and arch's and put them in a single package, with the bits you need to push things up in a simplestreams location for your closed network. But our belief was that such a package would never be supported, particularly since the binaries in question won't be run on the local machine anyway, and are likely to just be a waste of disk space. We've done a lot of thinking on this, and we have *tried* to figure out how to use ubuntu packages to distribute tools -- and fundamentally simplestreams is a better fit for the needs of a multi-os, multi-arch, multi-series orchestration tool. And we already force users to trust simplestreams to get Ubuntu images, so we're not adding *another* mechanism, just re-using one that already exists and is quite widely used. --Mark On Wed, Mar 26, 2014 at 5:54 PM, Adam Conrad adcon...@0c3.net wrote: @Mark So, if we can build them with the packages, what's stopping us from having a package that includes the bits, and even depends on the right things to set up a simplestreams provider that people can use on their closed networks? Sure, that won't have ALL the binaries for all supported platforms available, without a source to grab those from, but it would keep it self-contained for the simple use-case. [Bug 1298387] [NEW] Dash keyboard navigation does not work as expected
Public bug reported: I've (finally) started trying to use the Dash for targeted searches, like weather or dictionary. I'd like to be able to drive this entirely by the keyboard, but it doesn't work quite right. For example: 1. tap super key to launch dash 2. quickly type 'define: stuff'. After a small delay (it would be nice if it was faster here) I see-- Reference, a big heart (why a heart?) and stuff: definition 3. once the big heart is highlighted by navigating via combinations of Tab and arrow keys, if I press 'Enter', the browser is opened. This is different than if I click on the heart, which give me the scope results in the dash 4. if I click the big heart, and go back to the keyboard I cannot make the definition in the dash scroll via keyboard navigation This makes the Dash less useful than it could be. Eg: * if I am using a specific scope (ie, 'define: someword') and there is only one result, it seems like we should just show the content of the search in that result without having to click on the icon for the scope (ie, I type 'define: stuff', press Enter and see the definition) * for '3', I think this is a bug-- 'Enter' on the highlighted scope should advance to the scope's result (in this case, the definition) and then I can use keyboard navigation to highlight 'View' and press 'Enter' to launch the browser * for '4', I would expect PgUp and PgDown to work and/or Up/Down arrows ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1298387 Title: Dash keyboard navigation does not work as expected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1298387/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1298288] Re: gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0 crashed with SIGSEGV
That's a known issue/ranking high enough on e.u.c, it seems to happen during upgrades and be a mismatch of versions between the running session/what has not been updated yet/what is being unpackged (which is also why the retracing don't work, the running binary doesn't match the installed version used for retracing). Not sure how to workaround it though, upgrades in running session lead to issues like that.. ** Package changed: ubuntu = gtk+3.0 (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1298288 Title: gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0 crashed with SIGSEGV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+3.0/+bug/1298288/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
