[Bug 1097518] Re: [needs-packaging] modelio

2014-04-18 Thread Johannes Dewender
FYI:
Modelio 3.1.1 is available here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/modeliouml/files/3.1.1/
modelio.org is down completely ATM.
Ironically there are no sources at sourceforge:
The most current source I could find is:
https://web.archive.org/web/20130731105044/http://forge.modelio.org/attachments/download/5026/modelio-cc-core-sources.zip
https://web.archive.org/web/20130731105904/http://forge.modelio.org/attachments/download/5497/modelio-app-sources.zip

The prefered form of installation seems to be to install prepared
binaries.

[Bug 164120] Re: file manager hangs when mounted nfs drive is no longer accessible

2014-04-18 Thread Craig
In Ubuntu 12.04, after installing autofs and setting up nfs autofs
mounts, my nautilus temporarily hangs (window greys, freezes, becomes
unresponsive) when navigating local directories, if the server exporting
the autofs nfs mounts is offline. This is observed even when navigating
local directories that do not contain any of the autofs mount points,
i.e. navigating somewhere under /home, with autofs nfs mount points that
are somewhere under /var. Although the hang is temporary, it's a
long temporary. I noticed a previous comment suggesting that using
separate threads could fix this problem in nautilus, even if the problem
could technically be attributed to nfs or autofs. Sounds sensible.

[Bug 1309486] Re: ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core

2014-04-18 Thread Brian Murray
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1309484 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1309484

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled
the xorg-edgers-ppa. This will prevent the upgrade as that PPA contains
different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The page,
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details on to
how to revert to the official Xorg packages.

[Bug 1309582] [NEW] release upgrade from Saucy to Trusty fails to Calculate the changes

2014-04-18 Thread Eban Roberts
Public bug reported:

Attempting to upgrade from Saucy 13.10 to Trusty 14.04 which came
up as ready for install in the software manager.

it first failed from the gui

I ran it in the commandline to see if it would work any better.

I cleared out all extra repositories and tried this a few times

every time it fails to calculate the changes/upgrade

Checking package manager
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Building data structures... Done

Calculating the changes

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

[Bug 1309586] Re: enable CONFIG_MEMCG_KMEM

2014-04-18 Thread Tim Gardner
Documentation/cgroups/memory.txt:

2.7 Kernel Memory Extension (CONFIG_MEMCG_KMEM)

With the Kernel memory extension, the Memory Controller is able to limit
the amount of kernel memory used by the system. Kernel memory is fundamentally
different than user memory, since it can't be swapped out, which makes it
possible to DoS the system by consuming too much of this precious resource.

Kernel memory won't be accounted at all until limit on a group is set. This
allows for existing setups to continue working without disruption. The limit
cannot be set if the cgroup have children, or if there are already tasks in the
cgroup. Attempting to set the limit under those conditions will return -EBUSY.
When use_hierarchy == 1 and a group is accounted, its children will
automatically be accounted regardless of their limit value.

After a group is first limited, it will be kept being accounted until it
is removed. The memory limitation itself, can of course be removed by writing
-1 to memory.kmem.limit_in_bytes. In this case, kmem will be accounted, but not
limited.

Kernel memory limits are not imposed for the root cgroup. Usage for the root
cgroup may or may not be accounted. The memory used is accumulated into
memory.kmem.usage_in_bytes, or in a separate counter when it makes sense.
(currently only for tcp).
The main kmem counter is fed into the main counter, so kmem charges will
also be visible from the user counter.

Currently no soft limit is implemented for kernel memory. It is future work
to trigger slab reclaim when those limits are reached.

[Bug 1309591] [NEW] ubuntu-distro-info --devel fails (distro-info data out of date)

2014-04-18 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

$ ubuntu-distro-info --devel; echo $?
ubuntu-distro-info: Distribution data outdated.
Please check for an update for distro-info-data. See
/usr/share/doc/distro-info-data/README.Debian for details.

Not really distro-info's fault that no one has released the Unseen
Unicorn just yet, but it seems maybe possible that 'trusty' is a better
result than failure here.

[Bug 1309589] [NEW] System tray management

2014-04-18 Thread Eric Davis
Public bug reported:

When installing the application Bomgar, it by default it has a system
tray icon in literally every linux distro imaginable, but not in Ubuntu
14.04 because there's no 'indicator' for it and no way to edit it via
dconf-editor.

In 12.04 we could use dconf-editor to determine what icons appeared in
the system tray, we can not with 14.04. Despite installing xchat-
indicator and enabling 'minimize to system tray', all it does is create
a launch button under the 'Messages' icon, it doesn't actually minimize
to the system tray. So if you minimize your XChat, it's lost and gone.

The system for managing the system tray in 12.04 wasn't great, it was
workable, but in 14.04 it's absolutely absurd. There's thousands of
applications with system tray icons that have no 'indicator'. Many
applications minimize to system tray and without that icon the user is
just out of luck as they can't get their application back.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04
Package: xchat-indicator 0.3.11-0ubuntu4

[Bug 1309594] [NEW] kernel-libipsec not loading

2014-04-18 Thread Tony Zhou
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 and installed Strongswan 5.1.2 with strongswan-
plugin-kernel-libipsec. The problem is that the plugin kernel-libipsec

the option load = yes been set. Also in syslog it seems that
strongswan is not even looking for that plugin.

2014-04-18 Thread Scott P
I know this is for the touchscreen, but for the last beta wifi was
broken. Seems better with some updates, but not yet on final 14.04. Had
to install Ubuntu to hdd, as x64 uefi USB sticks would NOT auto boot. Now
get red secure boot warning every boot. Not Ubuntus issue. Posting to
forum tonight.

[Bug 1295072] Re: qemu 1.7 should build-depend on libfdt-dev higher than 1.4.0

2014-04-18 Thread Stéphane Graber
Hello Ballock, or anyone else affected,

Accepted device-tree-compiler into precise-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/device-tree-compiler/1.3.0-2ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1308348] Re: network settings indicator missing from panel

2014-04-18 Thread metrancya-1404
Maybe this helps: I came from 13.10 to 14.04 (upgrade path) and after
upgrading I was left with Kernel 3.11 (no upgrade to 3.13). The wireless
network worked for me after a reboot.

Then I updated from Kernel 3.11 to the generic kernel 3.13 as supplied
by 14.04 and after I rebooted I didn't have wireless network access
anymore. And no network indicator.

Could give a hint what is going on here...

The problem appears to stem from disable_method(NULL) not getting

be a script external to cryptsetup (debian/ubuntu specific). Have a fix.

[Bug 1309603] [NEW] Occasionally applications will not close using “X” on upper left of window.

2014-04-18 Thread Greg Gilfillan
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 64bit on a Dell Latitude Laptop with an Intel
Core i5 and 4G RAM installed.

Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release:14.04

unity:
  Installed: 7.2.0+14.04.20140416-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 7.2.0+14.04.20140416-0ubuntu1

500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Seemingly randomly I will not be able to close an application using the
X button of the upper left of the screen. Sometimes it requires
multiple clicks, but usually when this happens I have to right click the
application icon on the quick launcher and select quit to close the
window. This has occurred on multiple applications firefox,
nautilus, pithos, and software center are the most recent that I
can remember for example, and I am assuming this is an issue with Unity
on my system.

I expect windows to always close within a short amount of time after
clicking the X.

Other possible Unity related oddities which are occurring on my system
which may be related to this issue...

Control-Alt-T will sometimes not open a terminal, I might have to
press the combination 4 or 5 times to get terminal to open.

Pithos music player will not display icon in notification area on
the top bar (although it behaves as if it did, i.e. will continue
playing after closing the main window when display icon in nofication
area option is selected).

These are all new issues that I did not have when using Ubuntu 12.04.
I am being sufficiently patient with allowing plenty of time (several
seconds) for applications to close before clicking anything else again.

[Bug 1281250] Re: VNC accessible for Windows machines only with encryption disabled

2014-04-18 Thread Romano Giannetti
@Holger: yes --- I just noticed it too.

I humbly suggest that Canonical or Redhat help the vino developers to
add a more common encryption type to the vino server. It is the default
(and the facto only) remote vnc server in our system, and in its current
state forces everyone to connect **in clear** on the local network. All
what you type is sent as is.

I have worked around it wrapping the thing in a SSH tunnel, but still,
it's sensible to local attacks and I think it's not a solution for the
average user.

@Sebastian, I am not sure if this is a security thing --- after all,
before the switch, all the connections were silently made without
encryption, but it's scary nevertheless --- sniffing for traffic on port
5900 is easy enough.

Re: [Bug 1309226] Re: Failed Ubuntu 14.04 installation.

2014-04-18 Thread Facundo Martín Estevez
My install also failed because of Ubiquity! I'll try again and look for
that skip button. After all, it was a freshly downloaded ISO and a new
virgin DVD... I don't know how that could get corrupted. Thanks!
