[Bug 1309615] [NEW] trying to upgrade to xubuntu 14.04. could not calculate upgrade
Public bug reported: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu I don't think so...? * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu Am running 13.10. It is the current version of Ubuntu, as far as I know. * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu I am running only a few unofficial software packages, abd I don't believe they'd interfere with the upgrade. [Bug 1307236] Re: NVidia Issues - blurry text after upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04
@Alberto - I understand that you do not support the NVidia installer. I mentioned it as a workaround as that is what I needed to get my system working again without the blur and I needed to go back to being productive. I was thinking with Bill's information with the blur and mine without that something might emerge as the cause - it seemed to be focus related. Do you have a recommended package think would be best to install nvidia-prime or another? [Bug 1302090] Re: Dell Alienware 14, Speaker sound output is mono until a headphone jack is plugged
FWIW I'm not using pulseaudio, so no pactl here. 2.1 works fine since the discovery of the subwoofer pin. Attached are the requested alsa-info.sh outputs. Not sure about what you mean if the subwoofer needs both left and right channel: If it's that if I could use the subwoofer alone without the speakers, that's doable, it's just a matter of muting Speaker and leave Bass Speaker on, and then I have output just from the subwoofer. If it's that if I can control left and right channels for the subwoofer itself, I can, using the hda_analyzer at the node 0x1a, under the output amplifier group Val[0] seems to mute a half of the subwoofer and Val[1] mutes the other, seriously I don't know how that happens, I always assumed the subwoofer to be a single speaker, but there it is. As an additional note, the subwoofer is tied up to the Audio Mixer at node 0x0e (Attached hda_analyzer screenshot as well for it), muting Val[0] mutes all left output (as in Speakers, Subwoofer) and Val[1] does the same but with the right channel. [Bug 1309639] [NEW] Installer locks after failing to install GRUB onto RAID array
Public bug reported: Am installing Trusty (AMD-64 Desktop), with /boot as a RAID-1 set (ext2fs) under mdadm on a GPT partition, with a separate, non-RAID, unformatted partition for BIOS-grub. At the stage of attempting to install GRUB it fails, reporting fatal error. I get the window offering the option (among others) to continue without installing GRUB anywhere. I select this option, but the OK button never becomes active and no further progress occurs. The installer shows signs of having crashed or locked-up, so I cannot be confident that the remainder of the installation has been completed, otherwise I could assemble the RAID- sets at a mount-point, then chroot and complete the installation of GRUB that way. I know that this build isn't intended for RAID installations, but a clean failure would be helpful. Thank you. Public bug reported: I first noticed this about three weeks ago while scrolling through a large PDF file via rdesktop; finally located error messages in kern.log today. Symptom is sudden loss of network connection. Both systems involved must be shut down, allowed to cool for several minutes, then re-booted, to restore network actions. The kern.log entry indicates timeout during file-splice action but I have not found more detail than that. [Bug 1308348] Re: network settings indicator missing from panel
As I wrote above, the problems started during the upgrade from 13.10 -- 14.04 but not before the upgrade from kernel 3.11 (as in saucy) to 3.13 (as in trusty). Kernel 3.11 from 13.10 works under 14.04 without problems! While the lsmod output states that all relevant kernel modules (ath/athk5/mac80211/cfg80211) are loaded for both kernels, 3.11 3.13, the dmesg output for kernel 3.13 shows me fewer entries for all these four modules. That could point to some incorrect interplay between different kernels and general configuration settings... What is the workaround for me: 1. press the Shift key during boot to unhide the grub boot menu. 2. Select from the Grub boot menu the entry for kernel 3.11 3. Go (with network, network applet and all indicators now being present). That could provide some first aid for desperate upgraders that come from 13.10 to 14.04 having the same problem. It obviously will not help in the case of a fresh 14.04 install... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308348 Title: network settings indicator missing from panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxpanel/+bug/1308348/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 490917] Re: initrd on Karmic does not support multiple encrypted LVM physical volumes.
This bug is still present and another scenario is btrfs. cryptroot is written under the assumption there is exactly one device that needs to be decrypted for root to be mounted, which can be very wrong for btrfs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/490917 Title: initrd on Karmic does not support multiple encrypted LVM physical volumes. [Bug 1309653] [NEW] clementine search library not working and high CPU
Public bug reported: Just upgraded to Trusty. When I am viewing the library and type a search term, clementine does not filter the list below. It has rescanned the library but just seems to go into high CPU because of that search. Greyes out for minutes, but no search filter even if CPU comes down again. Please advise on sending debugging information. ** Affects: clementine (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1309653 Title: clementine search library not working and high CPU To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clementine/+bug/1309653/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1309656] [NEW] Desktop installer can't proceed after selecting city
Public bug reported: On the desktop installer (14.04), on the select city screen, the default option I am givin is Toronto. When I set my city as Quebec City or Montreal (typing the name then selecting from the list that pops up), the Proceed button is disabled and I cannot continue. If I set the city back to Toronto, I can proceed with the install. This issue is not new in 14.04, it has persisted for several releases; I usually just set the city to Toronto and continue. 1) Release: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (desktop amd64) 2) Uncertain of package version, I don't know how to find this for the installer 3) I expect to be able to select my city and continue 4) I am unable to proceed if I change the city. Changing it back to the default (Toronto) allows me to proceed. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1309656 Title: Desktop installer can't proceed after selecting city To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1309656/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1309655] [NEW] freeipa-client-install points to wrong ntp.conf file
Public bug reported: On a fresh 14.04-server install freeipa-client-install does not write to the correct ntpd conf file. Using ipa-client-install --enable-dns-updates --force-ntpd it tries writing to: /etc/sysconfig/ntpd Which is not a correct path on Ubuntu It needs to be /etc/default/ntpdate and /etc/default/ntp Other than that, the client actually work! [Bug 1309658] [NEW] Invalid comments in debian/apt.conf.autoremove
Public bug reported: According to apt.conf(5) man page, the only valid comments in apt config files are: Lines starting with // are treated as comments (ignored), as well as all text between /* and */, just like C/C++ comments.
