[Bug 1309538] Re: cannot run thunderbird in xubuntu 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread zleap
This seems to have fixed it's self, not sure if this was a result of a
few reboots or something else, anyway Thunderbird seems to be working.

The freezing seemed to happen a few times too, as in the whole system
totally unresponsive, i ahve as a precaution switched to the open source
nvidia drivers, see how that goes, so lower resolution but seems more
stable.

Refer to
http://trac.nginx.org/nginx/changeset/060c2e692b96a150b584b8e30d596be1f2defa9c/nginx
for the fix.

I'll check if the other versions of nginx not listed here are affected

2014-04-18 Thread wissotzky
Public bug reported:

Hi there,
I've noticed that Redshift has been updated to version 1.9 with a bunch of new
improvements ( http://jonls.dk/2014/04/redshift-1-9-released/ )
It would be very cool if it can be updated here as well, so that we can have it
with the new 14.04

thanks

Perhaps the setting changed location?

[Bug 1008678] Re: missing required tag: section

2014-04-18 Thread Yuv
Trusty has been released and a sudo apt-get upgrade still yields the
error message. This thing is really just a couple of lines to fix. The
error has been known for months and the simple fix (comment #4, thank
you very much) known for weeks. This kind of errors just make the users
feel uncertain and give the software a bad reputation.

Can't somebody with write access to the repository simply fix it?

Alternatively, can't somebody who is responsible for the repository give
the author of comment #4 repository write access to fix it?

It is totally ridiculous that such a simple oversight get carried on for
month, tainting the trustwortiness of the software distribution as a
whole.

(In reply to Alexander Kurtakov from comment #7)
 (In reply to comment #6)
For a workaround add the following to the end of your eclipse.ini

  -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla

Mozilla is even less reliable as it breaks with every firefox update ans SWT
doesn't support recent xulrunner versions (20.0 here) -at least it wasn't
 last I checked.

I had the same problem in LinuxMint (petra), adding
Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla fixed my it. Thanks for
this fix!

[Bug 1309290] Re: Cannot left-click on Firefox tabs

2014-04-18 Thread Peter Roos
Bug is reproducible with Thunderbird, although I still don't have a clue on
what triggers the bug.
In the buggy state, the mouse highlight GUI elements lower than the mouse
pointer actually is.
So, for example (with random numbers) if pointer.x = 100 pointer.y = 100,
then pointed.x = 120 pointed.y = 100.
Temporary fix: unmaximizing and maximizing the windows again.

[Bug 1303897] Re: sflphone-kde may hang on startup with some contact topologies

2014-04-18 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Elv13, or anyone else affected,

Accepted sflphone into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sflphone/1.3.0-1ubuntu1.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

** Description changed:

Hello, an infinite loop was introduced in the 1.3.0 release. It affect
around 10% of users with some advanced Akonadi contact topology.
Attached to this report is the patch to fix it.

  Step to reproduce:
  Launch sflphone-client-kde

[Bug 1309682] [NEW] error trying to upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread William Arcand
Public bug reported:

Running 13.10

 lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.10
Release:13.10

When I try to update, I get the following error:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

As far as I can tell I do not meet any of the conditions above that
would cause the failure. Tried to clean apt caches, and get same result.

[Bug 1309685] [NEW] generated passwords aren't random enough

2014-04-18 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Public bug reported:

Pasaffe uses the apg utility to generate random passwords.
Unfortunately, apg defaults to generating pronounceable passwords
instead of random ones, which results in generated passwords not being
as strong as they should, and has the numeric placed at the end of it
most of the time.

This has been corrected by the following upstream commit:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~mdeslaur/pasaffe/trunk/revision/573

[Test Case]
1- open pasaffe
2- create new entry
3- click the button to generate random passwords

Pronounceable passwords look like this, typically with a digit at the
end:

duhoifed0Ok
cagMovtefEk4
NuzHykdieds6
chaiDrunsIf6
Biahickwyek6
GhoysbyPhit2

Truly random passwords should look more like this:

YL48AGzXIQ1g
ClSLdxI2U1RF
g3r5NYBFNFAQ
ZZ0HsVHslwNB
Xve3zaIF6uNj
vJvX9v0RIXYv

[Regression potential]

This code only touches the password generation code, if it breaks it
will no longer generate random passwords.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-04-18 Thread jay
Upgraded to 14.04. Apple bluetooth keyboard stops working after login.
Strangely works only during login where I can enter the password after
the keyboard auto connects. Bluetooth mouse works fine though. See a
lock symbol on the Bluetooth tray icon.

Fix (for me Xubuntu 14.04 x64): I installed xfce4-goodies. Possibly only
xfce4-indicator-plugin would also work.
One of the items that can be added to the panel is: Indicator Plugin

2014-04-18 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Since the package referred to in this bug is in universe or
multiverse, it is community maintained. If you are able, I suggest
coordinating with upstream and posting a debdiff for this issue. When a
debdiff is available, members of the security team will review it and
publish the package. See the following link for more information:

[Bug 1202654] Re: ipa client on ubuntu 13.04 doesn't work with ipa server on centos/rhel 6

2014-04-18 Thread lee-machine
I just tested an ipa client install on Trusty and other than the ntpd
conf bug (which I reported) it works great! the IPA client on Ubuntu has
sucked for so long but it finally just works.

My setup is a RHEL 6.5 Server as an IPA Server, DNS, DHCP, and NTP. Then
a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 Server install.

Running ipa-client-install --enable-dns-updates --force-ntpd works.

It joins the domain, pushes the DNS entry, and users are able to login
right away even without reboot.

[Bug 1309343] Re: package libdatetime-format-iso8601-perl 0.08-1 failed to install/upgrade: Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting configuration.

2014-04-18 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.
