[Bug 882566] [NEW] [Compal jfl92] CPU stalls in almost every minute: all processing stops, display jams, sound is breaking up.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: In syslog I was instructed to announce ALSA-developers: snd_pcm_delay returned exceptionally high value. In the same time my VLC player ate all of the available ram and had to be killed. A bug has come back to my Compal JFL92 in 10.04 (I cannot say, was it in the time of release already) and occurs also in live-CD sessions of 11.04 and 11.10. If there is not a continuous input (moving mouse/touchpad or pressing keys), the system kind of jams (in 11.10 my screen jams like a freeze-frame: eg. seconds/minutes in the clock and gnome-system-monitor are not moving) and the music I am listening sounds like coming from a broken CD (skipping/jumping a bit back in 10.04) or like a jammed phonograph/vinyl record (in 11.10). Quite amazing, isn't it? It might have something to do with kernel and chipset/motherboard. I remember, that In 9.04 the OS did not even continue loading if I was not ready to start moving my finger in the touchpad during splash to release the jam. [Bug 1347964] Re: Precise -> Trusty upgrade fails critically
OK this last upgrade worked, I'd started with a fully updated 12.04.1 so using the Precise kernel and X-stack. At the end I get the prompt to remove or keep obsolete packages, I chose to remove, then rebooted when prompted. It booted OK with some crash reports that I chose to file: lance@lance-desktop:~$ ls /var/crash _usr_lib_i386-linux-gnu_libgtk-3-0_gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0.0.crash _usr_lib_i386-linux-gnu_libgtk-3-0_gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0.0.upload _usr_lib_i386-linux-gnu_libgtk-3-0_gtk-update-icon-cache-3.0.0.uploaded _usr_sbin_cupsd.0.crash _usr_sbin_cupsd.0.upload _usr_sbin_cupsd.0.uploaded But they never did seem to actually file, maybe some apport tweak is needed? No idea what will happen with Precise + the Quantal, Raring, or Saucy HWE, eg; 12.04.2, 12.04.3, or 12.04.4. [Bug 1348052] [NEW] Nautilus file copy unreliable over SSH connections (hangs)
Public bug reported: While copying a large amount of files between two Ubuntu 12.04 machines using a SSH connection, when left unattended, the transfer stops after some time (an hour or so), the transfers cannot be canceled, the network share cannot be unmounted (get timeout errors, but the share remains mounted) until I restart the machine where the file transfers were innitiated in the GUI. What I expected to happen: 1. I mount a remote folder over SSH in Nautilus 2. I innitiate a file move to a local harddisk 3. I leave the machine unattended until the transfer completes 4. The move completes or at least a useful error message is displayed and I can resume the download What happened: 1. I mount a remote folder over SSH in Nautilus 2. I innitiate a file move to a local harddisk 3. I leave the machine unattended until the transfer completes 4. The move is stuck a third of the way into the process, there is no progress, but the time estimate still shows what it did when it was still working. There is no usable error message, the file move cannot be cancelled (I press the button and nothing happens other than it going gray) and the remote folder cannot be unmounted (I press the button and the whole thing hangs for 30 seconds, then spews out something incomprehensible about DBus). [Bug 1347856] Re: powerd doesn't turn on screen for incomimg MMS messages
While I understand the reasoning, I don't think powerd should track notify-osd, as in this case notify-osd should instead request the screen to be on for a short period of time (by talking to the system- compositor). In this case you want to make sure that the phone stays up until you see the notification, and that's why we're also tracking phone calls and sms on powerd (as it's the first one to react and hold the suspend blocker). I don't why mms would be different here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1347856 Title: powerd doesn't turn on screen for incomimg MMS messages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/powerd/+bug/1347856/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1313032] Re: Compose key is not working in Xubuntu 14.04
I don't think this is just an issue with the settings app. I had this working in 13.10 by using "setxkbmap -option compose:rwin", and it stopped working after upgrading to 14.04. Changing the compose key in the settings GUI just causes the setxkbmap options to change. Oddly, the compose key does work in xterm and xedit -- but not xfce4-terminal, Firefox, or leafpad. In Chromium, the compose key works initially, but stops working after the first time I change focus away from the address bar (even after focus is returned). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313032 Title: Compose key is not working in Xubuntu 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1313032/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1326725] Re: PS3 Sixaxis controller/joystick usb stopped working, regression in linux-image-extra-3.13.0-27-generic
...or much more likely that the bug was never there in the first place... :( Looking into /usr/src/linux-headers-3.13.11-03131105/include/linux/hid.h shows that the changes that caused the regression that I pointed out in comment #55 might not have been applied to this kernel at all. To be more precise I'm talking about some of the changes in this commit: commit aa6c390c4d59c9ff4fffd887e15783b2b793951b Author: Benjamin Tissoires HID: remove hid_get_raw_report in struct hid_device I can see that "hid_get_raw_report" is still there in /usr/src/linux-headers-3.13.11-03131105/include/linux/hid.h while, for instance, in /usr/src/linux-headers-3.13.0-32/include/linux/hid.h it's not there anymore. That leads me to believe that the fix from 3.14 is not there because the bug itself is not there either. The bug was caused by backporting some synaptics hid driver from upstream to the trusty kernel. That's why the ubuntu trusty kernel is affected while 3.13 mainline is not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1326725 Title: PS3 Sixaxis controller/joystick usb stopped working, regression in linux-image-extra-3.13.0-27-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1326725/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1348000] [NEW] Virtual Terminals corrupted input after upgrade to Trusty
Public bug reported: lsb_release -d: Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS uname -a: Linux exhan 3.13.0-32-generic #57-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 15 03:51:12 UTC 2014 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux What works: - Just upgraded a laptop quantal -> raring -> saucy -> trusty - Login to GDM works - Switching to virtual terminals (ctrl-alt-f1 etc) and back works - Input in X is fine, no extra characters or other issues. What's wrong: - In a virtual terminal, it looks like the tab key is being held down - it seems to repeat tab characters constantly, pushing the cursor to the edge of the screen. When I type, tab characters keep coming, corrupting the input. - Unable to log in on the VTs because of the stream of extra tabs corrupting the input. Appeared after upgrading to Saucy, still there in Trusty. Saucy bug filed as #134304 ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1348000 Title: Virtual Terminals corrupted input after upgrade to Trusty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1348000/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
