[Bug 1264311] Re: BCM43142 bluetooth adapter not finding any bluetooth devices
Okay, I got it to work, too now. Nevertheless, my bluetooth does not get initialized every time after a fresh reboot. Trying sudo modprobe btusb then gives: "Can't init device hci0: Connection timed out (110)". [Bug 1313904] Re: [W230SS, VIA VT1802, Green Headphone Out, Front] No sound after suspend/resume
Thanks a ton for your efforts guys. I really hope you can figure out what is wrong (wish I could actively help but I can only test). In the meanwhile I've been playing around with a tool that remaps the various jacks (e.g. mic can become line-out). You can find it here: https://launchpad.net/~diwic/+archive/ubuntu/hda, it is now part of the package alsa-tools-gui. I wasn't able to get the mic jack to work as line-out/headphones but I managed to "crash" the speakers by trying to override them. I don't know anything about codecs nor circuits but maybe you can find a workaround using this tool? [Bug 1351653] Re: Suspend fails
khink, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.16-rc7 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 1349789] Re: clang armhf in trusty simply doesn't work
Good news on this, though it took a day of head scratching to figure it out. It turns out that ARM clang 3.3 and earlier implements C++ exceptions using the inefficient SJLJ exception ABI - you know, the one that calls setjmp all the time for every place an unwind might happen. Anyway, they finally got round to implementing the ARM EHABI exception ABI which is zero runtime cost and they went ahead and turned it on by default in 3.4, or at least it is being turned on by default in the Debian/Ubuntu binaries as well as the LLVM binaries. Unfortunately, it was very broken indeed. It produces ARM binaries which simply cannot catch non-trivial C++ exceptions, though otherwise work fine. This caused Boost.Thread when interrupting a thread wait to enter an infinite loop at described above, indeed if you EVER catch a type with RTTI it infinite loops. Fortunately, Chromium realised this shortly after the 3.4 release, and they've been hard at work making a EHABI implementation which actually works for 3.5. I just finished compiling 3.5 from trunk and I can confirm that all Boost.AFIO unit test pass swimmingly with it for armhf. You can read more about the 3.5 ARM exception handling improvements at http://llvm.org/docs/ReleaseNotes.html#changes-to-the-arm-backend. Can I recommend you upcall this to Debian as well and recommend that they mark clang 3.4 as broken on ARM? Either that or have them patched to disable EHABI exception handling? [Bug 1351790] [NEW] mythbuntu installer crashes near the end
Public bug reported: I'm not sure if this is the same bug as #98827 or not. I've tried two installs today and it happened at the same spot each time--right toward the end of the process. (I'm submitting this from Chromium on the machine itself: Lenovo T61.) The first time, I'd removed the hard drive and plugged in an external USB drive, installing from DVD to the whole drive (no manual partitioning). I chose "NVidia" for the graphics driver, rather than "Open Source", and agreed to download updates during install. After rebooting, it wouldn't boot from the external drive, though I suppose that could be a BIOS thing. The second time, I put the main hard drive back in and made space for Linux (one extended volume containing 6GB swap followed by 160GB or so for root, ext4). I again chose NVidia, but this time I opted not to download updates yet. We'll see if it's bootable this time. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. > dns-nameservers 127.0.0.1 10.2.2.1 It generally isn't safe to do this. Specifying it as an additional DNS server is telling your system that either DNS server will do for any given query. It sounds like this wouldn't be true (each server is missing some entries) and this will give you inconsistent results. If you have additional zones served by 10.2.2.1, then you should configure MAAS to *forward* to that DNS server. Marking this bug as Invalid, as it seems to me that this is a local misconfiguration rather than a bug in MAAS or Ubuntu. I may have misunderstood your case though. [Bug 1351414] Re: package grub-pc 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
I performed a couple more upgrade tests and this really is quite a corner issue. It seems that the OS being upgraded must be on drive sda and grub must be installed in the pbr rather than the mbr for the user to even be confronted with the dialog window asking where to install grub. Since only the mbr's of the existing drives appear as choices, if the user selects nothing it triggers this bug which also results in not all old kernels being cleaned up, but it can be resolved post-upgrade by running "sudo update-grub" followed by "apt-get -f install". So I suppose it could be argued that whenever the criteria is met for the upgrade process to display the grub-install dialog that the pbr of the appropriate partition(s) should be displayed as well as just mbrs. Regardless I think it's a low priority bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1351414 Title: package grub-pc 2.02~beta2-9ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1351414/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1349854] Re: kvm container creation failed: exit status 1 on arm64 with juju 1.20.1
OK, so we need to fix uvt-kvm in the first instance; Juju cannot be expected to support KVM containers until uvtool works. Take a look at /usr/share/uvtool/libvirt/template.xml. This is what is supplied to libvirt by default (after some automatic manipulation for other command line arguments and defaults such as a disk image to use, memory size, etc). You can override this baseline definition with "uvt- kvm create --template=... release=trusty arch=arm64 label=release". The XML schema here is defined by libvirt (specified in http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html). What we need is either a corrected XML that uvtool should use for all architectures, or per- architecture XML definitions and a feature in uvtool to use the correct architecture's XML definitions by default (I'm curious as to how it should detect this; should detection be based on the architecture on the host, on the guest, or both?). This may involve pushing patches to libvirt if support is not already there. I don't see anything PCI-specific in the default XML, so why does libvirt fail with that error? The production machine hasn't had a lockup since moving to 3.15.7-031507-generic (it's been up for 4 days) even though we could reproduce the lockup on a new machine with that kernel using a snapshot of the old volume. I've posted a mail to the BTRFS list about this: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.file-systems.btrfs/37415 I did a rebalance with `btrfs balance start -dusage=10` (increasing 10) to try and gain more space for metadata, but this didn't fix the situation. I did however get this stack trace in dmesg. In the end, I had to enlarge the volume before it became usable again. [Bug 1337244] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::WindowThread::ComputeQueuedLayout()
Though, the Unity code doesn't seem to use HSplitter or VSplitter. Also, it doesn't call QueueRelayout on any InputArea objects, which seems to be the only other way for an InputArea object to be put on the layout queue. Btw the "parent object of an object of type InputArea is a Layout object" comment at Area.cpp:603 is indeed wrong, since UnityWindowView::GetBoundingArea() has a counterexample. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1337244 Title: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::WindowThread::ComputeQueuedLayout() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nux/+bug/1337244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1183665] Re: nautilus passes invalid URIs to bulk-rename-tool
As a workaround for nautilus-renamer - install the Nautilus-Actions Configuration Tool, create a new action and in the Command tab set the path to /usr/share/nautilus-renamer/nautilus-renamer.py and the parameters to %U (a space separated list of the file/folder URIs which correctly encodes spaces as "%20" instead of "0") -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1183665 Title: nautilus passes invalid URIs to bulk-rename-tool To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1183665/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
