[Bug 1382916] [NEW] "Show Desktop" icon changes its position on unity launcher when changing background
Public bug reported: When changing background image in Ubuntu 14.04 (or any earlier version) AND option "Add Show Desktop Icon on Launcher" is previously enabled in Appareance Settings -> "Show dekstop icon" will change its position (order) in launcher (toolbar). So if it was second icon in launcher, it will become the last. [Bug 1382845] Re: Mouse buttons are ignored
I am also experiencing this since 2 days ago on my tests. I also face the same problem with the background window receiving the clicks and the front windows caring less about them. At first I thought it was the mouse (logitech anywhere) so I changed batteries. I could move the cursor but no clicks. I even disassembled the mouse. Nothing. I then used another logitech. Same problem. It was not until I went back to 14.04 or tested on my neighbor's computer that I saw the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382845 Title: Mouse buttons are ignored To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1382845/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1243806] Re: The names column has its width dictated by other columns
re: my #38 above: Those screenshots accidentally expose another funny behavior - yes, when the yellow 'tip' appears at the bottom of the window it does at least tell you about the individual file that's been highlighted. Apparently in the contrived case of a window that small (felt like fitting both in one png and not sharing the labels of my external drives) it doesn't fully appear, different bug. But at normal window heights that part does work if you feel like individually examining each one. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243806 Title: The names column has its width dictated by other columns To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1243806/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1243806] Re: The names column has its width dictated by other columns
Does this mean it's fixed or someone just pushed the "ignore pesky users" button again? I see no new Nautilus updates since last week. Does this mean 14.10's version will be improved? The 14.04 examples in the attachment are a bit forced with non-sensitive data from my home machine, but when you're at work dealing with files and paths like "/Clients/Lastname, Firstname/adv. Plaintiff/for filing/Motion (Second) for Extension of Time to File Opposition.pdf" and any column gets truncated, you're in for a bad time when all search results return as e.g. "Mot...". The Dash search also seems to have issues being useful with these common cases of 'important metadata is in the path as well as the filename' if you're trying to find Bob's motion and not Alice's. I know I'm without gruntle, but I'm told all of these features break equally when working with multiple git repos, so what audience is being adequately served by any of this again? ** Attachment added: "Nautilus maximum column width still suboptimal - bring back horizontal scrollbar.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1243806/+attachment/4239812/+files/Nautilus%20maximum%20column%20width%20still%20suboptimal%20-%20bring%20back%20horizontal%20scrollbar.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1243806 Title: The names column has its width dictated by other columns To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1243806/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1368908] Re: [Sony VAIO SVP13215CDB] suspend/resume failure
On 14-10-18 10:49 AM, Christopher M. Penalver wrote: > Yuv, if the problem is reproducible on the latest mainline kernel > available (now 3.17.1) Why did you mark the bug as incomplete? I know 3.17.1 is the latest mainline kernel now available. When it was published I could not install it without interrupting the testing of 3.17-rc7. I have not found a way to trigger the bug in less than 10 days uptime, which means that inevitably a newer mainline kernel is released in the meantime, so if the "latest mainline kernel available" is a mandatory condition for completeness, this bug report will never get completed, which I doubt is a desirable state of affairs. > the next step would be to fully commit bisect > the kernel in order to identify the offending commit following > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection . OK, I understand the concept of commit bisecting and while I never built the Linux kernel from source, I did the FreeBSD kernel a few years ago and I think it is just a matter of time and disk space. I am willing to try that, but need a specific pointer: I understand that I need two starting points: the last working kernel version and the latest possible tip of the git repo. Problem is: the last working kernel version I know of was the one in Ubuntu 13.10. Can you help me map that to a specific git revision? [Bug 1382909] [NEW] Dell XPS 15Z Requires Kernel Parameters to Boot Correctly
Public bug reported: Filed at Chris P's request, this bug is still present on both the Ubuntu 14.04 kernel (3.13) as well as the latest mainline kernel (3.17). In addition the mainline kernel causes additional issues with regards to brightness control. I have used the boot param noapic to run Ubuntu on this laptop since 12.04, however acpi=off, acpi=noirq or acpi_backlight=vendor dell_laptop.backlight=0 all also fix the issue. Using the last option however causes poor brightness control as the dell backlight driver is not properly optimized. [Bug 1323089] Re: wpa_supplicant writes to syslog every 2 minutes
@Olivier & @Anders: I have a dual-band wireless router with where the 5ghz and 2.5ghz radios have both different SSID and diferent BSSID. So the constant scans are not triggered by multiple APs with the same SSID in every case. Pinning the BSSID stopped the scans, so many thanks to ricklee518. I remember seeing that scans are initiated by NetworkManager, and the 2min interval is hardcoded with no option for adjustment. I do not know or remember the conditions which trigger the scans, but I didn't go looking again. [Bug 1382889] [NEW] System keeps trashing my Brother MFG-7820 printer configuation
Public bug reported: The default Brother MFG-7820 driver is broken. I had to install the correct driver to get it to work *at all*. You have to install the one that says "for cups". I have this ~/installationfiles/READ.ME file: After downloading the Brother MFG 7820N CUPS driver (apt-get-installs in this directory; see http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/MFC-7820N) need to set up the printer to use it. Set to: ipp://192.168.0.150 Under Change Driver, select printer from database then Brother Under driver Select MFG7820N for CUPS Use the new PPD (Postscript Printer Description) as is Modify the printers configuration file sudo stop cups sudo emacs --no-splash /etc/cups/printers.conf # comment out the stupid authorization line sudo start cups Okay, fine, that fixes the problem. But then why do I have to reconfigure this over and over again? And why doesn't somebody delete the broken cups driver and replace it with the one that works? Ubuntu seems to come with "cups" out of the box so shouldn't the CUPS driver be the default? And why does it keep setting my printer to a location called "mightyMini" which is not the correct IP address? I really would like to be able to just turn my system on and use my printer. [Bug 1382888] [NEW] xfsettingsd crashes after disconnecting from screen and ac
Public bug reported: I can reproduce this on my thinkpad 100% of the time: 1. Connect to a second monitor using extend. 2. xrandr command to set to internal monitor only 3. disconnect the monitor 4. disconnect the power 5. wait about 5 seconds Running xfsettingsd --no-daemon gives me the following: (xfsettingsd:3271): xfsettingsd-CRITICAL **: Stored Xfconf properties disable all outputs, aborting. The program 'xfsettingsd' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadRRCrtc (invalid Crtc parameter)'. (Details: serial 1264 error_code 148 request_code 140 minor_code 21) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) Not sure how to debug further. [Bug 806761] Re: Feature Request: Upstart scripts for nslcd
Our nslcd (0.8.4) keeps crashing on Ubuntu 12.04, like so: [2221821.130260] nslcd[17641]: segfault at 0 ip 004159c8 sp 7f11fd78b6a0 error 4 in nslcd[40+21000] [4448958.894131] nslcd[31759]: segfault at 0 ip 004159c8 sp 7fa87d3826a0 error 4 in nslcd[40+21000] and then it does not restart. Would having a /etc/init/nslcd.conf (with an appropriate respawn) fix this issue, or is there a way to fix it within the old 'service' framework? Any help would be appreciated - whenever it crashes (which happens every few weeks) some user with a local account has to log on and restart it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/806761 Title: Feature Request: Upstart scripts for nslcd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nss-pam-ldapd/+bug/806761/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Of course the Linux file name was not in caps so I got the message "Seems not to be a usable image." because it couldn't find the context-sensitive .bin file listed in .cue. Changing the .cue file to lower-case solved the problem. Suggestions: - if the .bin file can't be found, check for non-case-sensitive and continue or offer to continue if it's found. - OR, expand this error message a bit to explain what the problem is (ie. matching .bin file listed in .cue can not be found. However, burning still fails because k3b passes the original cue file to cdrecord/cdrdao, which causes those to not find the bin file. So part of the suggestions made by the original reporter have been implemented (http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115755), but in such a way that actually burning the image will unfortunately still fail. [Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]
Ok, IRQ interrupts also happening on 3.11.10-301.fc20.x86_64 with new versions of driver downloaded from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new (master & troy, didnt try kernel version explycitly, but it should be probably at 3.18 kernel which also had the problem). Version downloaded (probably) from here http://netbook-remix.archive.canonical.com/updates/pool/public/o/oem-wireless-rtl-92ce-92se-92de-8723ae-88ee-8723be-92ee-dkms/ does not causes IRQ explosion, but wifi drops 80% and more packets, making it pretty unusable. If you have any suggestions that I can try I will be happy to help. @Xprogrammer - if you can navigate me how to run virtualbox without VT-d (if it is possible) I will try it (i'm lets say little advanced beginer in linux...). Also, I tried to limit only 1 cpu core to respond to IRQs sent by realtek driver by echo 0 > /proc/irq/48/smp_affinity didn't help, system also froze with more than 33000 IRQ interrupts per second. If it is usefull, I can provide log from /var/log/messages but I couldn't find any info that seemed to be important... this is really situation as probably every wifi card usable (whitelisted) in this laptop has some kind of problems... also, in git versions of wifi.h should be changed line (~2455) #if (LINUX_VERSION_CODE <= KERNEL_VERSION(3,11,0)) to maybe 3,12 (in 3.11.10-301.fc20.x86_64 aren't those variables defined, I had to change it to .12 to be able to compile drivers) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239578 Title: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1239578/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1377653] Re: HDMI sound output not detected / NVIDIA optimus laptop
I have the same N56VZ laptop running 14.04 as well, and can confirm this problem. According to http://http.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/gpu-hdmi-audio- document/gpu-hdmi-audio.html#_verify_your_card_exists the nVidia card should show an audio device in lspci output if HDMI is connected and enabled. This doesn't happen on my laptop. I am using the proprietary 331 nvidia drivers and nvidia-prime *without* bumblebee. I can plugin an HDMI cable and the display automatically mirrors to the HDMI output, but no nVidia audio device is ever detected with lspci. NOTE: the snd_hda_codec_hdmi module doesn't load when I connect HDMI. [Bug 1382871] [NEW] [SRU] ettercap
Public bug reported: [Impact] scan for hosts while sniffing is active causes a crash into ubuntu trusty. [Test Case] Run ettercap, select interface, start sniffing, scan for hosts, enjoy your crash [Regression Potential] none [Other Info] (upstream hat on) Honestly I would like to see 0.8.1 as SRU replacement for 0.8.0, since there were many and many bugs against scan for hosts, that we fixed by properly handling multithread, lock and unlock, by avoiding many kind of crash, fixing timeouts, improving efficiency of scan, fixing ipv6 scan and so on. But I don't think any sponsor will accept 0.8.1, so I'm giving you the little patch to at least fix this crash when scan for hosts. (at least other two crashes can be fixed, but I would like to keep the patch as minimal as possible, and fix this one because occurs *always* with the kernel on trusty). ** Affects: ettercap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382871 Title: [SRU] ettercap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ettercap/+bug/1382871/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
