[Bug 1396816] Re: [Dell Latitude E7440] ALPS touchpad keeps having state reset
James Cohen, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18-rc6 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 595648] Re: Remote unlocking not possible if plymouth is active (Bug or Feature?)
The /scripts/local-top/cryptroot script in the initramfs only unlocks the root and resume filesystems. All other encrypted filesystems are unlocked by /etc/init/cryptdisks-udev.conf and /etc/init/cryptdisks.conf after the real / has been mounted. This design is problematic for remote unlocking: If one of those non- root non-resume encrypted filesystems is essential to booting the system (it has the 'bootwait' option in /etc/fstab), then the initramfs will go away before the filesystem is unlocked (because the root filesystem is mounted), but sshd won't start because it's waiting for another essential filesystem to be unlocked. Thus, there's no way to remotely access the system and unlock the remaining filesystem(s). Before this bug can be considered fixed, /usr/share/initramfs- tools/hooks/cryptroot will have to be edited to include all 'bootwait' filesystems in the /conf/conf.d/cryptroot config file it produces in the initramfs. As a temporary workaround, users can add non-root non-resume 'bootwait' filesystems to /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume as if they were resume devices, though they must be listed BEFORE the real resume device. (/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/cryptroot can handle multiple RESUME=* lines, and the initramfs init script ignores all RESUME=* lines but the last.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/595648 Title: Remote unlocking not possible if plymouth is active (Bug or Feature?) I'm attaching a newer version of my unlock-cryptroot script. I don't know if this occurred in a release prior to Trusty so I downloaded 12.04.3 LTS (Precise Pangolin) - the distro linked to in your post - and ran it from a USB stick. [Bug 1258837] Re: [Dell Latitude E7440] ALPS touchpad keeps having state reset
@James, I'm not sure what you are expecting to be done but the patches to work around this (resync should be less frequent now) are in 3.18rc5 and should eventually hit -stable. Since this is likely to be a EC/BIOS/firmware bug if you want Dell to solve this issue, create a thread here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f FYI, I downgraded to A05 from A07 (Latitude E6440) and this issue happens less frequently now. [Bug 791506] Re: Using an external USB microphone.
This bug is still happening in both 12.04 and 12.10. Simple to reproduce. Use laptop with analogue built in Microphone. Plug in a USB Microphone and switch to it. When rebooting Ubuntu the analogue microphone is re-activated and NOT the last Microphone used which was the USB Microphone. In addition going to Sound Settings and clicking on Input will cause the Microphone to fall off the USB Microphone and onto the built in Analogue Microphone forcing the user to then reselect the USB Microphone. [Bug 1324278] Re: Background image becomes blurry when scale for menu and title bar option is set to 2
This also affects me! Here's a simple test case for someone who doesn't own a hi-dpi screen, but does have a 1920x1080 monitor. Use this image as your background: http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w204/chopin952/Test%20Patterns/Halftone1080p.png Continue to scale it up and keep looking at the background. Once it hits 2, it becomes a grey blur instead of the correct pattern. If you have the desktop background set to center instead of scale or zoom or whathaveyou, then once it hits two, it will be zoomed in and centered. (If it's difficult to see around the Display window, remember Alt + F7 is your friend.) I'm assuming this is because more things scale once you select an even number. For example, if you change from 1 to 1.88, most of the buttons, sliders, and checkboxes stay the same size (although the fonts get bigger). But once you jump from 1.88 to 2, the buttons, sliders, and checkboxes suddenly decide to increase in size. By the way don't think this bug report is really the right place to say this, but the slider... ticky thingy and the checkboxes don't scale well. Also of note, is if you press the Print Screen button and check the image dimensions, they're 960x540 instead of 1920x1080 (which is half if math isn't your strong suit). Obviously, this feature is sort of a work in progress. And I (sorta) understand that Unity is still a graphical shell on top of the GNOME desktop environment so understanding where all this belongs and who's responsible for resizing what can be a mess. So good luck I guess. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1324278 Title: Background image becomes blurry when scale for menu and title bar option is set to 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1324278/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1396840] Re: Module nouveau systematically crashes after a few minutes, whereas module nvidia from nvidia-331-updates crashes only after several hours of work
Etienne URBAH, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. [Bug 1385441] Re: Can't unlock the screen in Ubuntu 14.10
@andrea: what do you mean with gnome-screensaver ? I'm using unity as far as I know I can't change the screensaver. Also I found out that if I go to a terminal (ALT+F1) and kill -9 compiz then when I go back to the X11/Unity I can log correctly. Seems related to compiz getting out of control (as plain kill didn't work). @Gerardo: just use the terminal to kill compiz, then go back to the GUI and you should be able to log. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385441 Title: Can't unlock the screen in Ubuntu 14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1385441/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1396851] [NEW] Add package containing Unity Greeter badges
Public bug reported: Currently, only a small number of potential desktops have badges shipped with Unity Greeter. Other desktops are supposed to ship their own [1]. However, some desktop packagers would prefer not to do this. For example, the MATE packagers would prefer to keep the packages the same in Debian and Ubuntu, and therefore would like to avoid an Ubuntu- specific patch like adding a Unity Greeter badge [2]. One solution, which would keep these badges both out of the unity- greeter package and out of the various desktop packages, would be to package the badges available at [3] together in a single package. I am an experienced Debian maintainer and plan to create such a package soon.
