[Bug 1395553] Re: iwlwifi contiually crashes
Oh yeah, this works a million times better with firmware v9 on the utopic kernel. The V8 firmware appears to be broken with my setup. Is there any chance that the v9 firmware for the 7620 at http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi/ can be added to linux-firmware? [Bug 1399865] [NEW] unmount blocking condition not recognized in warning dialog (automatic closing fails)
Public bug reported: When unmounting isn't possible due to a blocking condition (usually an open file), nautilus displays a warning dialog listing the conditions/applications which have open files under the mount path. When the files are closed, nautilus doesn't recognize that and keeps displaying the dialog while in the background the unmounting takes place and one has to select `Abort` or `Unmount nevertheless` in order to close the dialog. In case it is intended to not simply let a dialog disappear because it might be bad user feedback the content of the dialog should change explaining what just happened (that there's been a blocking condition which has in the meantime be resolved and that the dialog can be closed without any effect). Of course there then needs to be an option which allows control over whether the dialog's content's changed or whether it disappears. Steps to reproduce: * Mount an USB connected or another external device, open a terminal and change the directory to the mount point (usually `/media/$USER/`) * press the `eject` button for the filesystem; a warning is displayed that applications are still using the device and list contains `gnome-terminal` or `Terminal`) * type `cd` in the terminal and see how the unmounting takes place in the file view of `nautilus`, but the dialog persists experienced with 3.10.1; worked like a charm with a previous unknown version. [Bug 1399863] [NEW] prevent disappearance of other filesystems of the same device when removed safely/ejected
Public bug reported: When a filesystem is securely unmounted/ejected in `nautilus` all its other filesystems unmounted as well and the device disappears from the list, making it necessary to disconnect and reconnect the device or it is simply unmounted and the device stays in the list of external device, making it possible to mount the filesystem again. Both behaviors are useful. The former allows quick/"one click" removal of a device no matter how many filesystems are on the device. The latter avoids annoying necessity to reconnect the unmounted the devices in order to be recognized. Therefore a setting for each filesystem should be provided allowing one of the following behaviors: * unmount all filesystems of the device when one is unmounted * unmount the filesystem * specify a list of filesystems which ought to be unmounted when the filesystem is unmounted There should be an extra function (button or menu entry) which allows to recreate the list of device in order to avoid having them un- und replugged again. experienced with 3.10.1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu15 Uname: Linux 3.17.4-031704-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zcommon znvpair zavl ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Dec 6 05:22:45 2014 GsettingsChanges: b'org.gnome.nautilus.list-view' b'default-column-order' b"['name', 'size', 'type', 'date_modified', 'date_accessed', 'owner', 'group', 'permissions', 'mime_type', 'where']" SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug utopic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1399863 Title: prevent disappearance of other filesystems of the same device when removed safely/ejected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1399863/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1399862] [NEW] SIGSEGV with module-remap-sink mixing to mono
Public bug reported: indicator-sound-service crashes with a SIGSEGV immediately when it's executed if I have a mono sink made with module-remap-sink in /etc/pulse/default.pa. This is the line that makes it crash: load-module module-remap-sink sink_name=mono master=alsa_output.pci-_00_1b.0.analog-stereo channels=2 channel_map=mono,mono I have never tried variations of that line, but I know that the sink works normally and does what it's supposed to do (mix the audio to mono), so I don't think it's a problem with it. If I comment it and restart pulseaudio, then I can start indicator-sound-service and it will work normally. I'm using Ubuntu 15.04. indicator-sound 12.10.2+15.04.20141105-0ubuntu1 (the most recent version as of now). ** Affects: indicator-sound (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1399862 Title: SIGSEGV with module-remap-sink mixing to mono To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-sound/+bug/1399862/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1396213] Re: LVM VG is not activated during system boot
I've had a backup of my old Trusty system, and I've built an initrd for 3.16.0-23-generic in that environment. With that initrd, the kernel booted properly. Note, still it takes several minutes for the VG to activate, but it eventually comes up if the kernel waits enough with "rootdelay=300". Now, kernel bisection would take me to nowhere, as it seems the problem is not with the kernel itself. Any initrd I build under Utopic has the symptom, even older kernels from the 3.13 series. Could you advise how could I investigate further? I have no idea how could I debug/bisect initrd-s. As I found, the lvm2 package hasn't changed between Trusty and Utopic, so it's not lvm2's initrd scripts themselves. ** Also affects: lvm2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1396213 Title: LVM VG is not activated during system boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1396213/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1393188] Re: First screenshot saved sticks for duration of session
I've received no response to this since I filed it three weeks ago. The fault remains, as I specified it, but I have noticed one curious detail: wherever the image scratchpad for screenshots may be, it is in fact large enough to hold not just one but two distinct screenshots before it is full. So in fact there are two images saved. Once these two images have been collected, the scratchpad is full and cannot altered for the remainder of the session. The two saved screenshots alternate apparently randomly no matter how many attempts are made to capture new screenshots. There is no way known to me that they can be erased so that new screenshots may be made and saved, until the entire system is restarted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1393188 Title: First screenshot saved sticks for duration of session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screenshot/+bug/1393188/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1395343] Re: Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic suspend/resume not working for my Laptop
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected utopic ** Description changed: The Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic suspend/resume is not working for my Laptop. I first tried with the Live CD, on failing that, and thinking that suspend might need some disk to write to for the suspend info, I did a HD installation. But still, suspend/resume is still not working. On second attempt (after HD installation), I switched to console and close my Laptop lid. It suspended well, as it has always been. On resume, I see the repeating errors of `sda1` "soft reset failure" (or something like that). Minutes later, I start to see all kinds of disk related errors, disk sector writing error, ext4 journal error, etc. I thus think the reason of `resume` not working is that the HD is not waken up. This is Acer Aspire AS5536, with XUbuntu 14.10 Utopic. Any more info that I can provide? [Bug 1050460] Re: Pm-Suspend wakes up with fan at accelerated speed
Pierre, as per http://www.emachines.com/ec/en/US/content/drivers an update to your BIOS is available (4GC3109E). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. [Bug 1191465] Re: Thinkpad sometimes won't suspend
Alistair Cunningham, well one may complain in perpetuity about why something didn't happen in the past, or one may do what they can now in the present, given the attention this report now has. Just to advise, it was originally misfiled against pm-utils (userspace) which typically has nothing to do with problems in suspend/resume, except for exotic circumstances (this so far doesn't fit the bill). As well, I just started triaging (voluntarily) pm-utils package reports a few days ago, so I didn't even know your bug existed until I saw it earlier today. So, with this in mind, I'm still willing to work together with you on getting this issue addressed as fast as possible. I would simply need you to do as requested in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1191465/comments/4 . However, if you are salty, understandably so, please feel free to mark this Status Invalid. [Bug 969359] Re: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock)
I am on 14.04 LTS and using Gnome. I encountered severe and frequent high CPU consumption caused by gnome-settings-daemon process. I then deleted /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/keyboard.gnome-settings- plugin. I also applied the num lock fix as explained in #107. I noticed improved (less frequent) gnome-settings-daemon "hangs," but still experienced them enough to be a big irritant. I then started performing traces. and noticed many failures in trying to open /var/cache/fontconfig. I then googled what could be causing that. I then came across this page: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612105 I then applied (as suggested on that page) restorecon -R '/var/cache/fontconfig' That seems to have done the trick. Everything is quiet now. I will post again if I experience any further problems. Hope this helps someone else! ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #612105 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612105 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969359 Title: [keyboard]: gnome-settings-daemon consumes 100% cpu (and blinking numlock) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/969359/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1399838] [NEW] request for more user friendly progress feedback during network downloads
Public bug reported: During installation if 14.04 from a dvd i choose 'download updates' and download the extras for mp3 etc... After many minutes in the same screeen i thougth that installation hunged. i tried from a virt console to watch /var/log/syslog but not interested info found. I tried again not selecting the aforementioned options and installation procced to the next time. That day internet connection on my school lab was little unstable so i guess the low speed internet must caused tha hung. In that case i'd like pleace a) a progress bar in that stage displaying bytes downloaded of bytes to download and time remaining and b) if time is big to have a frienldy suggestion for alts . eg: from a full dvd to not need internet etc. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: feedback progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1399838 Title: request for more user friendly progress feedback during network downloads To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1399838/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1399692] Re: cryptsetup dialog does not ask for passphrase, just opens volume
Trying to fulfill your request led me to figure out what is happening, and why it is my dumb mistake, no creepy, crawly bug here. What I meant about "no passphrase" actually is, you need to fill it the first time, then after that the passphrase is not asked for. This latter was what freaked me out. Trying to frame that phrase above in my initial stab at an answer to your email, I suddenly remembered that there were several options: turns out, I had chosen "remember passphrase til I log out" but really wanted "forget it immediately." (See attached screenshot.) Rebooting, plugging device in, choosing forget immediately leads to the desired behavior. There's a slight booby trap, from my perspective: the default option is "remember til log out," I'll need to look into changing that default. So, in summary, no bug, just poorly understood feature on my part. Sorry for wasting your time on this. ** Attachment added: "Passphrase dialog" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1399692/+attachment/4274856/+files/unlock.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1399692 Title: cryptsetup dialog does not ask for passphrase, just opens volume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1399692/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1399836] [NEW] RELEASE_UPRADER_NO_APPORT seems to have no effect
Public bug reported: I was trying to test the alternate paths in run_apport of DistUpgradeApport.py and was setting RELEASE_UPRADER_NO_APPORT=1 but this seemed to have no effect. I tested this upgrading from utopic to vivid and from trusty to utopic. I examined os.environ right before the failure I'd created (a divide by 0 error in DistUpgradeController.py) and that key existed, so it seems like DistUpgradeApport or the call to it is unsetting that variable somehow. ** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: New ** Tags: trusty utopic ** Tags added: trusty utopic ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1399836 Title: RELEASE_UPRADER_NO_APPORT seems to have no effect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1399836/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
