[Bug 1424362] Re: no permissions to install packages in vivid daily lubuntu beta 1
I see the problem in i386 and amd64 installed systems. The Lubuntu Software Center works when started from the command line sudo lubuntu-software-center but not with gksudo lubuntu-software-center and not with sudo -H lubuntu-software-center Synaptic starts from the command line via gksudo, but not from the menu. There seems to be a general problem with elevated permissions from the menu and when using the elevation methods recommended for GUI applications. [Bug 1414345] Re: Audacious stops playing audio when outside of tty/term
Huh. Even more reproducible than I thought -- I'm thinking maybe the ram thing was a canard since I only go to tty1 when my ram is running low. I tried a bunch of times with ample ram and was able to still reproduce. preconditions: you're in xorg/gnome on tty7 or whatever, audacious is open, you're also logged in on tty1 with just bash running Step 2) press play on audacious step 3) alt-ctrl-f1 step 4) alt-f2 (to change to different tty) sound stops here (ie same as #3) step 5) alt-f1 (to go back to terminal 1) sound starts again. step 6) go back to xorg alt-f7 sound stops here. As for #4 I mean... the computer is running, I'm logged in xorg/gnome but not at that particular tty. I get silence...until I log in to the tty (then the music starts) funny series: if you, in tty1 log out of the current user ... the music stops. if you log in, the music starts again. if you log out... and then change to tty2, then change back to tty1 (ie you're still just faced with a login screen...) the music starts again. And you can come back to xorg and it worksbut if you go back to tty2 it stops. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1414345 Title: Audacious stops playing audio when outside of tty/term To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audacious/+bug/1414345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1385292] Re: can't rename files in nautilus
It Feels like the Keyboard simply hangs after I copy/paste a new name onto a file while renaming a file (virtually any file, picture, document, etc) in Nautilus. Can confirm it does not seem to affect 32bit versions, but I have two 14.10 (64bit) installations and they both do it! Suggestion for anybody keen on looking into the issue: I get the impression it might be something to do with the clipboard "carrying stylesheets" along with the text, for example If I sometimes paste text onto facebook/disqus from Libreoffice writer you will get a prefix text saying something like p {font-size:20px} or the like preceding the pasted text. This will often cause input into the facebook/disqus textbox to hand in much the same way. I have not had time to look into the entity/element "richtext cleaning" functions on Nautilus but I would hazard a guess thats where the problem resides. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385292 Title: can't rename files in nautilus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ibus/+bug/1385292/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1104230] Re: DisplayPort 1.2 MST support is missing in the Intel driver
So I was trying to follow this and get this set up on my Lenovo T440P with a pro doc and two monitors (vga and dvi). I finally got it working by taking the following steps, this took me a few days so if anyone finds this maybe it'll help them too. Initially I was on Trusty 14.04. * Then I added ther repos here; sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dgadomski/linux-mst sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel sudo reboot * No success, read more, looked like the stuff was in 14.10 so I upgraded to 14.10. * To upgrade to 14.10, you navigate to Dash, type "Software & Updates", goto the 3rd tab "Updates", change the bottom option to "For any new version". * Then opened Dash, and ran "Software Updater" and let it update took a while. * Rebooted, no success. * Then I noticed the 3.13 / 3.16 / 3.17 talk and decided I'd try updating my kernal. Followed steps to update my kernal from 3.16 to 3.17 as described here (http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/11/how-to-upgrade-to-linux-kernel-3-17-4-in-ubuntu-14-10/); wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.17.4-vivid/linux-image-3.17.4-031704-generic_3.17.4-031704.201411211317_amd64.deb sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.17.4-*.deb linux-image-3.17.4-*.deb * Rebooted Worked! [Bug 1387011]
I will check the details later, and let you know. But I think the problem is not in the build itself (I'm using manually build and it is perfect from 3.5 version). The problem is in config of Debian/Ubuntu package. I installed llvm-3.6-dev package. I think it has moved cmake files from /usr/lib/llvm/share/llvm/cmake to /usr/share/llvm/cmake but some paths points to the old location. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1387011 Title: llvm cmake files incorrectly generated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/llvm/+bug/1387011/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1387011]
llvm-3.6-dev package has cmake files in /usr/share/llvm-3.6/cmake. There is LLVMConfig.cmake file in that location containing a variable LLVM_CMAKE_DIR set to /usr/lib/llvm-3.6/share/llvm/cmake. That script also fails to load other scripts from the "old" location: `include("${LLVM_CMAKE_DIR}/LLVMExports.cmake")`. If `find_package(LLVM 3.6 CONFIG)` command used, cmake will search for LLVMConfig.cmake file in /usr/share/llvm-3.6/cmake and /usr/lib/llvm-3.6/cmake. So maybe instead of generating cmake shared files in build-dir/share/llvm/cmake is better to generated them in build-dir/cmake. Then there is not need to move them by package script.
The patch went into trunk on Wed Sep 10 10:18:59 2014 + so it should be in LLVM3.6 unless someone removed it. [Bug 1387011]
@Paweł Bylica . Sylvestre Ledru is responsible for the Ubuntu/Debian packages. I've CC'ed him on this PR. ``` I think it has moved cmake files from /usr/lib/llvm/share/llvm/cmake to /usr/share/llvm/cmake but some paths points to the old location. ``` It's the other way round. LLVM installs the CMake files to ``${CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX}/share/llvm/cmake/`` and the Ubuntu/Debian packages must be deviating from this. @Sylvestre. [Bug 1387011]
@Paweł Bylica Okay I tried building LLVM3.6 with and without ``--enable-shared`` and using the installed LLVM from CMake is working fine for me. Do you have the LLVM static libraries installed? The exported CMake targets only work with these. If you take a look at ``/usr/share/llvm/cmake/LLVMExports.cmake`` you'll see stuff like ``` # LLVM CMake target exports. Do not include directly. add_library(LLVMOption STATIC IMPORTED) set_property(TARGET LLVMOption PROPERTY IMPORTED_LOCATION "/home/dsl11/dev/llvm3.6/shared_install/lib/libLLVMOption.a") add_library(LLVMLineEditor STATIC IMPORTED) set_property(TARGET LLVMLineEditor PROPERTY IMPORTED_LOCATION "/home/dsl11/dev/llvm3.6/shared_install/lib/libLLVMLineEditor.a") add_library(LLVMIRReader STATIC IMPORTED) set_property(TARGET LLVMIRReader PROPERTY IMPORTED_LOCATION "/home/dsl11/dev/llvm3.6/shared_install/lib/libLLVMIRReader.a") ... ``` Do the libraries referenced in your version of LLVMExports.cmake exist on your system? Now mtp-detect works, and other players that use libmtp. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314556 Title: Unable to mount Android MTP device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1314556/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage
Also, I don;t think that the current incarnation of this bug is filling my HDD. When I open the ~/.local/share/gvfs-metadata folder in the file browser it is evident that a few files are constantly being generated and then erased ad nauseam. So there is no disk space eating problem, just the HDD (and laptop battery) straining problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/517021 Title: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/517021/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage
I would like to add that I don't think that the original bug reported with this bug report, is identical with the way this gvfs-metadata bug behaves in its later version as running rm -rf ~/.local/share/gvfs- metadata stops the infinite disk writing for just few minutes and that it starts again. Not only does it put the HDD under a strain (especially SSDs), it also kills the battery on laptop devices quicker especially when an ordinary HDD is used. The finding that the bug is easily reproducible with the Super Start firefox extension is interesting. I'm using a similar extension on both my machines where this bug appears; it's Speed DIal [FWD] in my case. Some previous bug reports mention that the bug is triggered when using HTML5 Video Everywhere - another firefox plugin. Is it possible that some of the libraries used by firefox produce files (or do something else) that than somehow confuse gvfs-metadata and force it to go into infinite writing loop?! If so, can this be also a firefox bug? Not that gvfs-metadata shouldn't be able to handle such situations.

The i915 seems to be unrelated: it appears after the lid is opened again, and "pci=noacpi" makes it disappear but the bug stays. Kernel 4.0 do not help. There is no issue with a 14.10 ; and upgrading 14.10 to 15.04 exposes the issue. I managed to got it to work, after playing with the e1000e driver as suggested on https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1414261#p1414261 The current state is: - doing nothing, e1000e loaded, it never goes to suspend when I close the lid (tried 5 times) - removing e1000e, goes to suspend when I close the lid - doing nothing, e1000e removed, it again cannot go to suspend when I close the lid - loading e1000e, goes to suspend when I close the lid And of course, manually suspending does work. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1429489 Title: Suspend not working when closing lid on ThinkPad T420s To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1429489/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1429486] [NEW] docker.io too outdated, cannot interpret common Dockerfiles
Public bug reported: Hi, the docker.io version currently in trusty/14.04 seems to be too outdated, even if updated in trusty-updated. It cannot interpret clauses quite common in todays Dockerfiles. E.g. I tried to generate a Firefox sync server by building the Dockerfile coming with git clone https://github.com/mozilla-services/syncserver It fails, because this Dockerfile contains ADD Makefile *.ini *.wsgi *.rst *.txt *.py /home/app/syncserver/ which is not interpreted in the expected way. Instead, the first argument (the file Makefile) is copyied into the "second" argument, i.e. the file with the Name "*.ini *.wsgi *.rst *.txt *.py /home/app/syncserver/" In other words: It does not expand whitespace or common wildcards, it just takes everything after the first whitespace as the second parameter, which clearly violates docker's manual. Upgrade recommended. regards Hadmut ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: docker.io 1.0.1~dfsg1-0ubuntu1~ubuntu0.14.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-46.77-generic 3.13.11-ckt15 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-46-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zavl zcommon znvpair ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.7 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Sun Mar 8 01:39:19 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-08-06 (213 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 14.04.1 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140722.3) SourcePackage: docker.io UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: docker.io (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug third-party-packages trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1429486 Title: docker.io too outdated, cannot interpret common Dockerfiles To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docker.io/+bug/1429486/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1388647] Re: DRI_PRIME=1 has no effect in Ubuntu 14.10
Well, I found that it's an issue with setting the right Paths for the right installed NVIDIA driver, in my case GT540M 2GB. (Ubuntu 14.10) It was poiting to nvidia-current, while I have the latest installed by default for some reason which is way greater than the current, and I've found also that optimus was set to use Nouveau instead, hence I changed that to nvidia, and set the right paths and everything's working great including EditShare Lightworks and The Foundry Nuke Studio. So check your config again. Btw, I lost the confs after one Update and had to re-do it manually again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388647 Title: DRI_PRIME=1 has no effect in Ubuntu 14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1388647/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also affected. In my case, a Samsung Galaxy S SCL GT-I9003 Ubuntu 14.04 ships libmtp 1.1.6. I wonder if a higher, or lower version of this lib, would fix these problems?
