[Bug 112392]

2015-03-08 Thread Shawn-peterson-0
I can confirm that this bug is still happening to me. A restart does
seem to correct it. Not sure if it will go back to the incorrect count
as others suggest or not. I can report back if that would be helpful.

2015-03-08 Thread Yung Shen
No, I cannot reproduce this problem with xorg.conf generated by
amdconfig.

Steps that I did:

1. sudo amdconfig --initial
2. sudo reboot
3. sudo amdcccle # switch it to performance mode(3d controller)
4. logout then login
5. check current graphic controller by glxinfo
6. sudo amdcccle # switch it to powersaving mode(integrated graphic)
7. # repeat couple times

[Bug 1302090] Re: Dell Alienware 14, Speaker sound output is mono until a headphone jack is plugged

2015-03-08 Thread Guy
Finally finally finally I got that salad to work but not the same way,
here the details :

In fact they are to pins disconnected that I had to connect, the 0x1a
and THE 0x18, the connections in hdajackretask are now :

0x1a = Line out (back)
0x18 = (Center/LFE)

Which gives in alsamixer :

Master = Master fonction.
Headphone (Headphone) = Adjustable volume for the headphone jack (first one).
Headphone (Headphone 1) = [00] Not adjustable (probably the headset jack ?).
Speaker (Speaker) = [00] Not adjustable.
Front (Front) = Adjustable and corresponding to front speakers (if on 00 you
ear only the subwoofer).
Surround (Surround) = seems to correspond to the subwoofer (if on 00 you ear
high front frequency).
Mic (Mic) = Mic adjustable.
Mic Boost (Mic Boost) = Adjustable but no idee what for.
Auto-Mute (Auto-mute Mode) > (line out, speaker, disable) = If line out
selected it mute all speakers, if speaker selected it mute only the "tweeters"
but the subwoofer is still active.

So I hope that it will be usefull to others that were fyghting to get
that "crap" working.

P.S. I didn't try if the headset nor mic are fonctionnal but the
headphone are, no problem.

[Bug 736487] Re: resume with crypted swap causes hang on password prompt

2015-03-08 Thread niknah
I am using 12.04. Can't type anything into the passphrase prompt. Alt-F2 just
shows a blank screen.
And as soon as I pres Alt-F? keys the password prompt disappears and I can't
get it back again.

To get the password prompt I have to remove "splash quiet" from the boot
config.

[Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled

2015-03-08 Thread Pablo180
After an upgrade to 14.10 the workaround stopped working (restarting
network manager each resume). Due to another problem I had to reinstall
14.10 and the problem is no longer present for me after the reinstall. I
am not sure whether this has been fixed in 14.10 or whether it was the
re-installation that fixed it, but either way the problem has been fixed
for me.

[Bug 1429678] [NEW] media player "fail to connect"

2015-03-08 Thread Glen Ditchfield
Public bug reported:

Sometimes (three occasions in the last month) my Nexus 7 can't play
media files. If I select a video in the Video scope, the player launches
but displays a dialog saying "Error playing video \n Fail to connect
with playback backend". If I select an audio file in the Music scope,
the music app opens, but th file doesn't play and the user interface
does nothing.

On the last two occasions I noticed apparmor messages in syslog. I will
attach the most recent syslog.

The players have played these audio and video files successfully at
other times.

On the most recent occasion, I powered the device off twice without
fixing the problem but another power cycle three days later fixed it.

[Bug 1423151] Re: openafs-modules-dkms 1.6.7-1: openafs kernel module failed to build

2015-03-08 Thread seth goldstein
I would like to test this out (I really need afs badly), but I am not
sure how do it. I followed the dirextins at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed, i.e.,

Added to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu trusty-proposed restricted main
multiverse universe

Created the file /etc/apt/preferences.d/proposed-updates with:

Package: *
Pin: release a=trusty-proposed
Pin-Priority: 400

And tried to do an upgrade. Not sure what package to upgrade. For
example, I tried:

sudo apt-get install openafs-modules-dkms/trusty-proposed
sudo apt-get install openafs-client/trusty-proposed

and some others and they all report:

E: Release 'trusty-proposed' for 'openafs-modules-dkms' was not found

How do I proceed?

[Bug 1429677] [NEW] wingpanel crashed with SIGSEGV in synapse_utils_async_once_construct()

2015-03-08 Thread Paul Malefic
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

Asus z87-a w/i7 477k (no overclocking) w/IGP Intel Video Onboard.
16 Gigs of RAM and I lost count of how many hard drives are in this thing with
all the I/O Controllers.

Elementary OS 0.3 Freya with latest updates, just ran sudo apt-get
update, upgrade, dist-upgrade, then issued a sudo reboot and left for a
smoke in the garage, when I returned this came up and asked me to issue
a bug report. This is the first one I have submitted because most of
the time i just hit cancel, but then I decided to actually go through
and reset my ubuntuOne password and take the steps necessary, reason
being is that this happens on every reboot, so I thought it might be
helpful.

If I'm not submitting this right, and more info needs to be added let me
know and I'll do my best. I'm not a linux guru but I'm pretty capable
of learning and use elementary os 0.3 freya as my main os, and have been
since its first release. I'd like to think I'm doing alright.

Thanks,
Paul.

[Bug 1427033] Re: lubuntu 14.04.2 x64 - Full freeze of system on Amilo A1650G Laptop

2015-03-08 Thread MetzKetz
Which?
SysRq don't work. no reaction.

/var/log/kern.log.0 does not exist.

SSH freezes at same time with system

netconsole is a bit over my head.

what i could try is to get the crash kernel working (systematically eliminate
additional kernel parameters).
What will take a few days. A new week and little time.

Or did you mean a particular technique?

[Bug 1429445] [NEW] multiple LibreOffice icons on the launch bar

2015-03-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

LibreOffice 4 creates too many icons in the launch bar.
When LibreOffice is not running, there is one LibreOffice Calc icon that cannot
be removed.

When I open one ods file, another LibreOffice Calc icon appears in the
launch bar which opens the window with the open file. The original icon
opens a new LibreOffice Calc window with Untitled.

When I open more ods files, sometimes more LibreOffice Calc icons appear
in the launch bar and sometimes they are controlled by the existing
icons.

xls and text files odt and doc always create more icons (LibreOffice
Calc or LibreOffice Writer).

If I open many files, the launch bar becomes too crowded and this is
inconvenient.

LibreOffice 3 had one icon for each application (LibreOffice Calc,
LibreOffice Write, etc.) which could be removed when the application is
not running, or be Locked to Launcher. I think this is the appropriate
behavior.

I installed LibreOffice 4 using the following directions:
http://www.askmetutorials.com/2015/02/install-uninstall-
libreoffice-44-on.html

LIbreOffice team thinks it is a Unity bug:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89880

Operating system: Ubuntu 12.04.
LibreOffice info:
Version: 4.4.1.2
