[Bug 1414988] Re: KDE-plasma Search and Launch changes screen layout with 2nd monitor
Okay, one more observation: The whole thing can be rectified, post-login, by turning that external secondary monitor (the 'star'ed one with the menu on it) off. then all windows automatically pop back to the build-in monitor, then turning that external monitor off in the 'Display and Monitor' in 'System Settings' by removing the tick on that monitor, 'apply', adding back that tick, 'star'ing it again (to indicate that it should carry the menu), 'apply'. Then the geometry is as expected. From all this, I dare to suspect that the trouble comes in through the timing(s) at logon. It looks like everything is okay, when the external display comes up after the build-in one, gets activated, and then receives the menu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1414988 Title: KDE-plasma Search and Launch changes screen layout with 2nd monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plasma-desktop/+bug/1414988/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1422814] Re: indicator-datetime crashes when 'Weekday' or 'Day and month' are checked
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. [Bug 1442637] Re: [System Settings] After adding an online account, users should always be able to see account options
Sorry, I have to mark this as Incomplete, because there's no steps to reproduce and I can't guess them. :-) If you were adding an account from an app through System Settings because you were sent there by an app [you] came from, that is a bug in the app, like bug 1372860. An app should not send you to Online Accounts in System Settings (except as a last resort if you have already denied the app access to an account, but you've indicated that you've changed your mind). But since you say users are always redirected straight back to the app they came from, maybe that's not what is happening. System Settings doesn't send you to any app, as far as I know. Instead, maybe the app is invoking the standard Online Accounts prompt. You aren't in System Settings, it's just that the authorization Web view looks like a System Settings screen because that is the odd way in which Ubuntu Touch shows full-screen dialogs. I'm also unclear what account options you're referring to. The only options I see at the moment are the choice of which apps have access to a particular account. But presenting those options would be inappropriate when you're authorizing an account for a particular app. For example, imagine that an OEM preinstalled Words With Friends. When the Facebook app prompted you for a Facebook account, your journey to Facebook shouldn't be interrupted by the question of whether you want to also use your Facebook account with Words With Friends. You might never use that game, and not even know what it is, let alone whether it really needs a Facebook account. But that's okay, because if/when you actually get around to using it, Words With Friends would be perfectly capable of prompting for access to the Facebook account itself. The System Settings panel exists mainly for you to revoke access if you need to, not for you to give access in the first place. ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings-online-accounts (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442637 Title: [System Settings] After adding an online account, users should always be able to see account options To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ux/+bug/1442637/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. [Bug 1347859] Re: Introduction of Predictable Network Interface Names (aka biosdevname) breaks working systems
Thank you for taking the time to file this and helping to make Ubuntu better. I appreciate your detailed write-up and understand your frustration at the changes made. Before going into policy questions, I'd like to clear up a couple of factual concerns I have after reading your report. I think it'd be useful to clarify these first so that opinions can be formed based on accurate facts. My first concern is that you say that you ended up with interfaces renamed according to biosdevname after a release upgrade when they weren't being renamed before the release upgrade. As far as I understand, this was never the intention and upon examination I can see no code that would cause this to happen. My understanding is that the biosdevname package that does the renaming is only installed at first install time by the installer, and not installed after that. A release upgrade should not cause biosdevname to get installed. So can you (or someone) please confirm that this is definitely the behaviour in some case, and if so provide steps to reproduce so that we can understand the mechanism involved here that is making this happen? I suggest that you do this in a separate bug against biosdevname to start with (eg. Interfaces get renamed on release upgrades) so that if it is a bug that can be fixed without any policy-level discussion then we can do it without cluttering this bug. Second, you say that some distributions require both systemd and biosdevname interface renaming to be disabled. My understanding is that on Ubuntu with systemd (so Vivid only), we do not rename interfaces via systemd by default - this must be done explicitly. Can we assume for the rest of the discussion that this is true, or otherwise can you provide steps to reproduce that demonstrate that it is not (again, another bug might be a good idea to avoid cluttering this one)? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1347859 Title: Introduction of Predictable Network Interface Names (aka biosdevname) breaks working systems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/biosdevname/+bug/1347859/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1443178] Re: Accounts Service always relies on language fallback if never set by the user
Hi Michal, Please note that the problem isn't Unity 8 specific. I added that user_get_fallback_value() function a few years ago (admittedly it's a little 'heavy'), and the purpose was to get the start value right in various GUIs for setting language/locale, both in Ubuntu and the flavours. Even if I'm not quite sure yet, I think the problem is best fixed in the accountsservice package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1443178 Title: Accounts Service always relies on language fallback if never set by the user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1443178/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
