[Bug 1224732] Re: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work
The solution suggested by gazhai (#52) worked for me, too. I have Ubuntu 14.04.2 Classic. The only problem is tat every time I add a keyboard shortcut I have to logout and login to get it working. [Bug 1413446] Re: Audio broken on 2015 XPS 13 (9343) in I2S mode in Ubuntu 14.10/15.04
As far as I followed upstream, work is being done on this matter in the Linux kernel, not really in Ubuntu. (Since it is not a packaging bug, but rather a development task) Current focus seems to be to make sure audio works in HDA mode. I2S mode is apparently improved in kernel versions 4.0 and 4.1, but it is still rather new and not as mature as the HDA code. There is definitely effort in progress on making this work out of the box with the Linux kernel. For the moment I can just advise to update to the most recent firmware version (A03 at the time of this writing). This gives you working audio in HDA mode. I2S mode audio will be enabled when the code for it is ready in terms of code quality and feature completeness. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1413446 Title: Audio broken on 2015 XPS 13 (9343) in I2S mode in Ubuntu 14.10/15.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-sputnik/+bug/1413446/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have an Asus X450CA laptop and I had the same issue. I solved by following these steps: 1. Install "alsa-tools-gui" package. 2. Run hdajackretask. 3. Check ☑ Show unconnected pins. 4. At pin 0x18, check ☑ Override and select Microphone from the list. 5. Click "Apply now" to test if it works. 6. Click "Install boot override" to make it definitive. In my case, it was pin 0x18. Hi, i forgot to ask: How is the read speed with this drive ? Does it deliver dozens of MB per second ? Do you get better write speeds with DVD media ? [Bug 1458230] Re: libburn imposing 0.2x BD-R burn (5-6 hours)
Hi, libburn obviously tries to tell the drive the desired speed. But the drive decides to work much slower, despite promising speeds up to 12x BD with the given BD-R. A possible reason could be Defect Management which is caused by the cdrskin option blank=format_if_needed. It checkreads the write result after writing about half a drive buffer to the medium. But the xorriso run was not told to format its BD-R. Does dvd+rw-mediainfo report it as formatted after the burn? (I.e not READ FORMAT CAPACITIES: unformatted: 12219392*2048=25025314816 but rather BD SPARE AREA INFORMATION: Spare Area:196608/196608=100.0% free ) Do you get better speed from growisofs ? growisofs -Z /dev/sr0=disc.iso You could add option stream_recording=on to the runs of cdrskin and xorrecord to surely disable Defect Management. [Bug 1456656] Re: Lenovo G50-45 Wireless card Qualcomm Atheros Device not Working.
Chris, I have updated the BIOS from the link provided as requested. But, nothing changed, still WIFI card is not getting detected. Moreover, by default, Secure Boot was enabled, so only Windows was loading everytime. So, I went into the BIOS setup and disabled the Secure Boot. But still, the grub is not showing up and Windows is booting by default. So, I had to open the Boot menu manually and choose Ubuntu to bring up Ubuntu. After that I found that there is no change to the connectivity. Its still the same. The output of the given command is: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date A2CN34WW(V2.02) 02/28/2015 Could you please let me know how to make the grub appear as before the BIOS update even with the Secure boot disabled ? [Bug 1457697] Re: [Vivid] kernel 3.19.0-17 fails to find HDMI sound output
AntAgna, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. [Bug 375755] Re: 9.04: xrdp 0.4 + vnc4server results in flashing screen on login
solved it was a LXDE problem , as soon as i recognized this i could get a work around . Problem : with the new user(blabla) not plugged in on a physical monitor , and first running xrdp there was a .cache folder . but it was completly empty . Solution : i just copied the "pi" user /home/pi/.cache folder to /home/blabla/.cache i did it complete in terminal because i was unsure if the lxde should be not started. (and getting root in raspbian gui is grr) now the flickering is gone. and XRDP is working with the blabla user . i know its not the clean solution but fast , working. if anyone has "the clean linux" solution. and it ONLY works if u got a working profile /account desktop which u can copy the files from. command for solution : sudo cp -r -v /home/pi/.cache /home/blabla/.cache tags: Flickering , blinking , flashing blinken with XRDP remote desktop , new user -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375755 Title: 9.04: xrdp 0.4 + vnc4server results in flashing screen on login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xrdp/+bug/375755/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1449005] Re: trim does not work with Samsung 840 EVO after firmware update (EXT0DB6Q)
I don't know who at Samsung wrote that response. They have a bug in their SSD firmware. Full stop. [Bug 375755] Re: 9.04: xrdp 0.4 + vnc4server results in flashing screen on login
i hope i can help to make it reproduceable , i have nearly the same problem with my raspberry. With the User "PI" it works fine. with the user "blabla" (mentioned below) it works partly. #error described: -user blabla connects to pi , -blabla get the sesman log window and then the prepared desktop (like 2 seconds white grey stripes) - when the desktop is fully loaded i see the wastebasket but the launchbar isnt there the visual effect is : there is a white place holder where the launchbar is. which seems to be reloaded every second which result in flickering because the white place holder reappear every time. after some minutes i get a disconect which isnt the case with the "pi" user for reproduktion :) Raspbian Wheezy Release date: 2015-05-05 Kernel version: 3.18 Xrdp version 0.5.0-2 , the pi is used with remote desktop program(not the windows one) and was only on a physical display for ssh activation and gui activation (MAYBE 1 time with gui on physical monitor i cant remember) the normal way is then -connect via ssh and make the pi rdy for XRDP -sudo apt-get update -sudo apt-get upgrade -sudo apt-get install xrdp -sudo adduser blabla here i got the first flickering and thought it was permission stuff so i added blabla to root with -sudo visudo but the error remains. while writing i thought about to get into the new user - 1 time with physical monitor and set the launcher . and try xrdp again hope it helps abit -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375755 Title: 9.04: xrdp 0.4 + vnc4server results in flashing screen on login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xrdp/+bug/375755/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

A workaround (at least fix the frozen desktop) without restarting, ending sessions, etc. is to switch to another tty (eg tty1 with CTRL- ALT-F1) and type: DISPLAY=:0 kwin_x11 --replace & When switching back to the desktop, it is seen restarting and everything is working again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440210 Title: KWin crashes multiple times a day and often has to be restarted manually. [Bug 1440210]
This is rather unrelated - although this bug has become a general "I perceive a problem" dumpster anyway. The original report actually sounds a lot like related to bug #340294 The we have some reports which are likely related to the stale lock file bugs in KConfig & Qt: https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/110346/ and https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/122549/ Then we've complete freezes of the X11 server Finally there're some "kwin artifacts after" issues - this matches yours and I bet your right arm that you've an nvidia GPU - the invalidated vertext buffers will more likely relate to te switch to VT1 than anything else (run "dmesg | grep NVRM" and check whether it says something about unspported framebuffer consoles, but this lately was reported regardless) VLC will likely require 100% cpu because it (or rather the driver) is performing a busy wait for the next vblank signal (which is not gonna occur) The most simple resolution of invalidated vertex buffers is to restart the compositor (press SHIFT+Alt+F12 twice) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440210 Title: KWin crashes multiple times a day and often has to be restarted manually.
