[Bug 1440210]
This is rather unrelated - although this bug has become a general I perceive a problem dumpster anyway. The original report actually sounds a lot like related to bug #340294 The we have some reports which are likely related to the stale lock file bugs in KConfig Qt: https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/110346/ and https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/122549/ Then we've complete freezes of the X11 server Finally there're some kwin artifacts after issues - this matches yours and I bet your right arm that you've an nvidia GPU - the invalidated vertext buffers will more likely relate to te switch to VT1 than anything else (run dmesg | grep NVRM and check whether it says something about unspported framebuffer consoles, but this lately was reported regardless) VLC will likely require 100% cpu because it (or rather the driver) is performing a busy wait for the next vblank signal (which is not gonna occur) The most simple resolution of invalidated vertex buffers is to restart the compositor (press SHIFT+Alt+F12 twice) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440210 Title: KWin crashes multiple times a day and often has to be restarted manually. [Bug 1458220] [NEW] system keyboard layout not honored
Public bug reported: I'm on a fresh install of Kubuntu: Description:Ubuntu 15.04 Release:15.04 I chose German as installation language, de with nodeadkeys as keyboard and locale is set to de_DE.UTF-8. The console uses the correct keyboard, however when logging into sddm, the keyboard layout is set to US. SDDM doesn't seem to honour the keyboard configured during installation. SDDM installed is: ddm: Installiert: 0.11.0-0ubuntu10 Installationskandidat: 0.11.0-0ubuntu10 Versionstabelle: *** 0.11.0-0ubuntu10 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I believe it's a bug since the keyboard layout at login window after installing as described above should be the default system one, german in the above case. I have tried all sorts of ways (including some ugly hacks) to get this resolved on a previous installation but didn't find a way. Considering the many moving parts to get the login manager up and running, I'm aware this might be filed against the wrong package. It might even be an installer bug. [Bug 1431753] Re: Nvidia binary driver FTBS due to DKMS layer violation
Alberto, thank you sooo much, that is great news. Especially since there seems to be another wave of bitter comments and confusion on lp:1268257 . Two questions: - Am I understanding correctly that you'll fix the problem for the 331 driver AND that we'll have the option of using the 340 or 346 driver with the 3.13 kernel in 14.04 ? (For me personally, _either_ solution would work. If you in the dialog Really migrate to MariaDB? choose the option No it will bail out from dpkg and abort the installation. This is by design - you are not supposed to get MariaDB installed if you choose No. This method of aborting has been around in MySQL packaging for a long time. For example if you had MySQL 5.1 installed and then installed MySQL 5.0 you would see a similar screen asking for confirmation and if you selected No then the dpkg process would be aborted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1457356 Title: package mariadb-server-5.5 5.5.41-1ubuntu0.14.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mariadb-5.5/+bug/1457356/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 913842] Re: Can't remove filter in Synaptic
Can you still reproduce the problem? It’s a shame we didn’t see this bug report earlier, but it was misfiled against Linux Mint, which only causes them to be ignored since Linux Mint doesn’t care about Launchpad. ** Project changed: linuxmint = synaptic (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/913842 Title: Can't remove filter in Synaptic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptic/+bug/913842/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1359803] Re: External mic not being used in combo port
I have the same issue. Asus X450CA laptop with a single TRRS jack. External headphones work correctly, but the external microphone does not work at all. Only the built-in microphone (that hole next to the webcam) is detected. This has been happening since 13.10 (the first Ubuntu I installed on this laptop, which was brand-new at that time). alsamixer shows: Master, Headphone, Speaker, PCM, Mic Boost, Mic Boost, S/PDIF, Capture, Auto-Mute Mode, Digital. Interesting that it shows two Mic Boost sliders, but there is no option to switch to the external microphone. The only recording device is called Capture. alsa-info.sh output: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=3fca8420153cf1b5424b490cf0d58f65224c27c1 Kernel release:3.19.0-16-generic 0 [PCH]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel PCH HDA Intel PCH at 0xf7e1 irq 32 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) Codec: Realtek ALC270 Other bug reports from other people: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1366639 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1382642 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/212378 https://askubuntu.com/questions/75828/external-microphone-not-working -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359803 Title: External mic not being used in combo port To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1359803/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1457697] Re: [Vivid] kernel 3.19.0-17 fails to find HDMI sound output
I have the same problem. I'm using Ubuntu 15.04 64 bits (Desktop Edition). CPU Intel Core i7-4790, GPU Intel HD4600. Using latest BIOS and microcode. There is no HDMI out sound with latest kernel 3.19.0-18-generic. When I boot with previous kernel (3.19.0-16-generic) the HDMI sound works. Here is an screenshot of the sound config under 3.19.0-16-generic. It shows the HDMI device, and it works: http://rt002nf0.eresmas.net/Temp/FPGLINUX%203.19.0-16-generic_01.jpg Here is the same screenshot under the newest kernel 3.19.0-18-generic. No HDMI driver shown: http://rt002nf0.eresmas.net/Temp/FPGLINUX%203.19.0-18-generic_01.jpg If I can help in any way, please, don't hesitate to ask.
