[Bug 1468943] Re: Update to 3.16

2015-06-26 Thread Tim
input settings have moved from g-s-d schemas into gsettings-desktop-
schemas, since these are now handled by mutter in GNOME 3.16. Given the
transition code, see [1] this is going to make it hard to just revert
the key changes like we have in the past.

[Bug 1440275] Re: Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ

2015-06-26 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I made a minor adjustment to the gnome-control-center proposal; attached
please find the updated patch. With that I could drop the proposed
changes to accountsservice.

It would make sense to disable the access to the longer "language" list,
since the additional locales don't represent translations. I haven't
figured out how to do that, though.

** Patch removed: "g-c-c_language-list.patch"

2015-06-26 Thread Fuminori Ido
Hi,

> 1) What is the full manufacturer and model of the card (not card
reader) you are using?

Gigastone 4GB microSD HC
Not only this, but also another SD card (SILICON POWER 16GB SDHC) is not read
as well.

> 2) Regarding the Lenovo ThinkPad X250 (not X220 or any other computer)
did this work in Trusty?

Trusty means 14.04, right? I tried, but after hitting "Install Ubuntu"
menu, screen just fell into black-screen;-(

Thanks and Best Regards.

[Bug 1469355] [NEW] aspell doesn't warn when given an unknown language string

2015-06-26 Thread Robin Sheat
Public bug reported:

If I run, say:

$ aspell -l en_NZ --mode=tex check file.tex

or

$ aspell -l en_BLAH --mode=tex check file.tex

aspell will continue on and do its spell checking in en_US, which is
very incorrect behaviour. It should throw an error rather than proceed
on doing the wrong thing.

If I use en_GB it'll use correct spellings for that language.

[Bug 1459455] Re: [needs packaging] xe-guest-utils

2015-06-26 Thread Steve Langasek
Hi Ben,

I've had a look at this package and identified a few changes that I
think are required before it can be uploaded to wily. Please find
attached a debdiff of the changes I've made so far.

There is one outstanding issue; namely, that debian/rules attempts to
key on the release version to decide whether or not to build --with
systemd. This is incorrect for two reasons. First, packages should
support all init systems, not just one, so that they don't have to be
upgraded in lockstep with the init system (and I've partially addressed
this in my patch, with changes to install both the upstart job and
systemd unit in the dh_installinit target). Second, dh_systemd doesn't
exist at all in precise, so this package will fail to build on precise
no matter what due to an unsatisfied build dependency.

I'd like to know your thoughts on the best way to resolve this.

[Bug 1427877] Re: Media, brightness and volume keys don't work with GNOME 3.15.90

2015-06-26 Thread Tim
Hubert, Also I wonder if you are looking in the wrong place, might be better to
try and track down the GsdDeviceManager error first:
(gnome-settings-daemon:13665): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register
existing type 'GsdDeviceManager'

Both xrandr and wacom use this device manager, the first call to
gsd_device_manager_get() should create the object and subsequent calls
should return the existing object, however it appears to try and create
it a second time.

disabling the wacom plugin just avoids that second (attemted)
invocation.

[Bug 1469346] [NEW] DHCPv6 responses with multiple addresses applied incorrectly to interface

2015-06-26 Thread Joe Hohertz
Public bug reported:

A DHCPv6 server may respond with multiple addresses, and is not an
unusual case as you may wish to provide both a ULA and a global prefix
to a common suffix. Recent versions of OpenWRT behave in this manner for
DHCPv6.

Network Manager is handling this *almost* correctly. Both addresses get
applied, just not simultaneously as would be expected.

The dhclient process is seeing both addresses, and both get processed by
the handler, but is handled as though there were two seperate requests,
applies the first address, promptly removes it, and replaces it with the
second address, resulting in only the latter address persisting after
interface setup.

After adding the following to the upstart config for network manager,
you can easily follow the mishandling of the response:

--log-level=debug --log-domains=DEVICE,IP6,DHCP6

The following are key lines from the debug logging:

Jun 20 23:21:16 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856876.790352]
[nm-system.c:280] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): adding address
'2607:::ad10::61/128'
...

Jun 20 23:21:17 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856877.837130]
[nm-system.c:247] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): removing address
'2607:::ad10::61/128'
Jun 20 23:21:17 pinky-linux NetworkManager[6244]: [1434856877.837526]
[nm-system.c:280] sync_addresses(): (wlan0): adding address
'fd5b:::10::61/128'

In this case the global prefixed address was applied, then immediately
replaced by the ULA prefixed one.

So it's correctly parsing both addresses of the response as supplied by
dhclient, but the end result is not what is expected for the given
configuration sent from the server.

The correct behaviour is to add/replace all addresses in the response as
a set.

This negates much of the usefulness of supporting DHCPv6, and is an
impediment to integration with IPv6 networks requiring it's use.

[Bug 1318678] Re: haveged consumes 100% cpu when used with -w > 4067

2015-06-26 Thread openand
It may be the 'nbytes<1' line. It can perhaps be changed to 'nbytes<8'.
A few sleep commands in the loop are also not a bad idea either.

In either case, we've had a very cursory attempt at:

https://github.com/Openand-I/haveged/commit/a71df191b15a610140e420f2f17da558e6ebca08

Specifically around lines: 558, 568 for an idea of what we did to solve
the issue on Android and Ubuntu.

BTW, great usability improvements can be seen simply by freeing up the
entropy collection from user input.

Cursory, pun intended :)

The g-s-d schemas are shared with unity-settings-daemon, this patch just brings
back keys that are needed by u-s-d, they will simply be unused
in g-s-d and won't cause any problem.

input device management moved into mutter for 3.16, perhaps mutter is supposed
to handle the device removal?

yes they will be applied via quilt. you just need to do:
quilt pop -a
rm debian/patches
debuild -S

thats harmless its just patch headers don't get updated when doing a `quilt
refresh` to rebase patches

[Bug 1305335] Re: Cutting or copying files on btrfs to ecryptfs results in data loss

2015-06-26 Thread whoop
Seems to be working now on my arch machine.. Great work!!!

It noticed something though:
When I move a (large) file to ecryptfs folder this now seems to happen
instantly. As I remember it (on ext4 machines) moving files would take a while
and show a progress bar, like you see when moving to another partition.
I don't think files are being moved unencrypted but still I wonder, is there an
explanation for this?

[Bug 1466803] Re: Multiple Software RAID problems on 14.04.2

2015-06-26 Thread Gareth
** Description changed:

+
+ edit:
+ NB. this report is inaccurate - please see the following instead:
+
+
Re. mdadm 3.2.5-5ubuntu4.1 (or possibly kernel bug(s)?)

  Firstly,

/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/mdadm does not seem to exist as it is
suggested it should in the official server guide.

  1. Encrypted LVM RAID fails to boot
  2. LVM RAID fails to boot when degraded

I have had various issues re. (2) tested with VirtualBox and KVM (with
  and on 14.04.2)

  (1) gets so far in the boot process then keeps displaying "No volume groups
found"
  (2) if virtual disk is removed from the VM, I've managed to get it to boot
once and remove the offending disk from mdX using mdadm ... but couldn't
reproduce this behaviour a second (or third) time - now it just keeps
printing...

  Incrementally starting RAID arrays...
mdadm: CREATE user root not found
mdadm: CREATE group disk not found
  Incrementally started RAID arrays

  ...every few seconds.

That symptom seems to be fixable in other reports in circumstances where
the system is bootable after a soft reset (Ctrl+Alt+Del) but no such
  luck in my case.

It seems that software RAID is a mess in 14.04 - can someone take a good
  look at it?

[Bug 1467640] Re: No mobile data connection for mako on wily

2015-06-26 Thread Tony Espy
While testing on mako/rc, I can confirm that the rmnet_usbX devices are
those configured for data calls over the cellular connection, and that
these are the devices being re-named. As mentioned above, we should try
reverting the new USB re-naming scheme first...

[Bug 1469313] [NEW] After installing hplip 3.15.6 printer is sometimes not recognized after reboot

2015-06-26 Thread chris pollock
Public bug reported:

HPLIP was automatically updated on 11 June 2015. During the upgrade
instructions were carefully followed however at the end the printer was
not recognized. The upgrade was attempted again and it was then noted
that it was required to turn off then on the printer for it be be
recognized at the end of the install. Today, 26 June 2015 after a reboot
caused by a video freeze the printer was not recognized (firmware was
not downloaded during boot as usual) and running hp-setup shows printer
not recognized even after turning the printer off then on several times
and also unplugging and replugging it in to the usb port. I have not yet
gone through these steps:

=> Run the command "hp-uninstall" to cleanly uninstall HPLIP. Remove
plug-ins too when prompted.

=> Install the latest (or already downloaded 3.15.2 run file)

=> Remove all the existing queues by running the command "hp-setup -r"

=> Re-configure the queue by running the command "hp-setup". This step
will also prompt for installing the plugin. Follow the prompts to
install the plugins.

=> Try printing to the queue named HP_LaserJet_1020

After going through all the steps above the printer is again functional.
Note: during the step to install the hp driver besides unplugging and
replugging in the usb cable I have to additionally turn the printer off
and on. Once this is done the driver installs correctly.

[Bug 1381646] Re: cant paste into webapp

2015-06-26 Thread Bob Toovey
I have to agree with wardvour. I accessed G+ with Firefox and was then
asked if I wanted the G+ webapp. It installed but I can't copy and
paste. Surely that's an important feature? Especially for a social
network that you share web pages on!

If it does not have the basics working then it should not be
available...

[Bug 1428558] Re: Thumbnailing videos taken by camera is very slow (over 5 seconds on BQ)

2015-06-26 Thread Michi Henning
Due to instability in gstreamer, we are currently limiting the number of
concurrent vs-thumb processes. On __arm__, if max-extractions = 0 (which
is the default), we adjust max-extractions to 1, so only one vs-thumb
process executes at a time.

It's still possible to force more than one concurrent vs-thumb by
setting max-extractions to a non-zero value (useful for testing). For
example:

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Thumbnailer max-extractions 2
