[Bug 1450493] Re: Phone reboots after removing and installing scope

2015-07-03 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
Looking further into this issue, it actually looks related to this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1470750

This reboot issue seems to occur on the nexus but not the bq. The bug
above describes behaviour experienced on the arale and bq when
uninstalling a scope, so that leads me to believe the reboot does not
occur on arale either.

Basically, upon uninstalling a scope we see the scope registry process
CPU usage shoot up. On the nexus, after a short time of eating the CPU
like this, the phone reboots. If however, I stop the registry process
somewhere between the uninstall and where I'd expect a reboot, the phone
does not reboot.

Therefore, I believe if we fix bug #1470750, we fix this one.

[Bug 1471230] Re: ping got confused about IP-adress after host unreachable

2015-07-03 Thread Ketil
I see I've made a typo regarding icmp_seq in the output of the second
run of ping (icmp_seq 1, then 2, and then 1 again, but the last one
should be 3). I typed this manually, so there may be other typos as
well. But I can't see any typos regarding the main point, I got the ping
replies from my own IP address, with times on the order of 0.400ms.

[Bug 1457910] Re: Unity panels steal input events while under (some) fullscreen windows

2015-07-03 Thread Michael Matthews
But compiz adds it back on top when a fullscreen window has no focus.

I'm guessing the problem is that Unity's panel window(s) are not created
in a way that allows compiz to keep them hidden (under full screen
windows) independently for each display.

[Bug 1471266] [NEW] USB drive disappears after formatting; gives error; no longer mountable

2015-07-03 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Public bug reported:

When formatting a 4.1GB iriver USB key, usb-creator-gtk gave me the
following error:

org.freedesktop.DBus.Python.GLib.Error: Traceback (most recent call last):
  File /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/dbus/service.py, line 707, in

Subsequently, I could not mount the drive. If I pulled it out and put
it back in, it would show up in usb-creator-gtk, but it would not let me
install anything on it. The disk didn't show up on the desktop and I
could not mount or access it.

I solved this by reformatting the disk with the Disks utility instead.
After that, it showed up fine in usb-creator-gtk and I could install an
OS on it.

[Bug 1457910] Re: Unity panels steal input events while under (some) fullscreen windows

2015-07-03 Thread Treviño
Mh, this makes things harder to fix... The fact is that the shell is not
drawn when there are some fullscreen windows around, and that's fine...
But compiz adds it back on top when a fullscreen window has no focus.

This means that to fix the issue we can both show the shell on top of
these windows (not sure the best option), or make the shell not to take
input in this scenario... And both of these cases are quite tricky to
handle (especially the former).

[Bug 1341829] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2015-07-03 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From bren...@br.ibm.com 2015-07-03 13:28 EDT---
it should be noted that the linuxvnc package advertises itself as exporting
a Linux virtual terminal over VNC, not an X session. So it's possible that
linuxvnc is not fit for purpose, despite having been mentioned in this bug
 thread.
Right. Linuxvnc works fine, but we need a Graphical interface.

[Bug 1471230] [NEW] ping got confused about IP-adress after host unreachable

2015-07-03 Thread Ketil

I tried pinging an IP address on an internal network. My IP is

etc...

So on the initial run, ping claims it got a ping reply from 10.0.0.95, which
isn't the address I'm pinging. It's my host, and it's normal to get the initial
ICMP Destination Host Unreachable messages from the local IP when ARP fails.
I almost immediately reran ping, and now the host was up from the start, and
see responses coming from the actual host that I'm pinging.

Looking at the times, the ping replies appear to actually come from
10.0.0.96, or at least some other remote host, based on the time values.
If I ping 10.0.0.95 (my own IP), I'm seeing time values of 0.040ms or
thereabouts, so an order of magnitude faster.

[Bug 1470640] Re: In Vivid Vervet, onscreen keyboard won't input to password/user fields

2015-07-03 Thread HalfNote5
I'm not sure how Launchpad handles invalid bugs, and I'd like for the
solution to be available for anyone else having the problem.

Would it be proper to convert it from a bug to a question?

[Bug 1471262] [NEW] Python 2.7.3-0ubuntu3.8 causes retreival errors on long POP3 message lines

2015-07-03 Thread Andrew Berry
Public bug reported:

Getmail is unable to retrieve messages over POP3 that have lines longer
than 2048 characters. This blocks downloading of further messages even
if they don't hit that limit.

This is fixed in getmail 4.48.0:
http://pyropus.ca/software/getmail/CHANGELOG

A workaround is to edit /usr/lib/python2.7/poplib.py and set _MAXLINE to
a large number, retrieve messages, and then set it back to 2048.

I receive:
SATA Version is: SATA 3.0, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s)

I don't understand if this means that I'M NOT affected to this Bug.

Can I do :

[Bug 1471183] Re: Using ppp0 internet not accessibe when eth0 is connected but without internet connection

2015-07-03 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1471183/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1094324] Re: Delete tagged files if a copy exists in the other directory doesn't work if names of the files or folders contains space

2015-07-03 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
this mc problem isn't fixed - attached correct patch against mc.menu
from mc 4.8.8 which fixes identical files deletion when folders and/or
files names contains spaces, see comment #6

Problem in current mc is quoted %D - see this line in mc.menu:
  if [ -f %D/$i ]; then
because of quoted %D deletion doesn't work: mc doesn't even find identical
files - I get a message FILENAME has no copy in /tmp/folder\ with\ space: NOT
deleted. in terminal.
Deletion works correctly when %D isn't quoted, only $i is quoted:
  if [ -f %D/$i ]; then

[Bug 1460149] Re: Visible corruption in SDL apps (Neverball, Neverputt) on Nexus 4 / Nexus 7.

2015-07-03 Thread Laurie Bradshaw
Setting the gl red green, blue and depth sizes from client code
(SDL_GL_SetAttribute) doesn't help with the transparency issue on
krillin. Does/should this help with the doubling problem on nexus hw? (I
don't have any to test)

[Bug 1471238] [NEW] BCM43142 will stop working when signal is below 55%

2015-07-03 Thread Anthony Dee
Public bug reported:

Lenovo ThinkPad E545

Network controller : Broadcom Corporation BCM43142 802.11b/g/n (rev 01)

If you are using this WIFI card, beware that *bcmwf-kernel-source* does perform
very badly with a newer version
of the *bcmwf-kernel-source* 6.30.223.248-bdcom-0ubuntuXX (XX I have tried them
all and all are not working)

Desripction of what is happening:

You are connnected to a network (does not matter on the router config or
router) and when you are at signal level cca 55% and less the internet
drops and you are offline (still connected but no packets get in or out)
for a long period of time (restarting card works for a few moments when
the drop occurs again)

---

*bcmwf-kernel-source* 6.30.223.141 works as it should, but I am stuck in
kernel 3.13 as I want to go kernel 3.19 and I can't because I have to
use newer bcmwf and it is unstable, very much.

[Bug 1462489] Re: Allow apps to keep the screen on

2015-07-03 Thread Pat McGowan
We have a patch for QScreenSaver. The way it will work is that apps can
use this from QML:

import QtSystemInfo 5.0
ScreenSaver { screenSaverEnabled: false }

or its pendant from C++. Unity-System-Compositor will watch the
application. As soon as the application is closed, the request will be
dropped and the screensaver will be enabled again, even if the app
didn't explicitly release the resource before quitting.

We need apparmor to allow apps to call the methods:
* keepDisplayOn
* removeDisplayOnRequest
on interface:
com.canonical.Unity.Screen
and path:
/com/canonical/Unity/Screen
on the *system* bus.

[Bug 1451946] Re: Menu disappears if a window is hidden and then shown again

2015-07-03 Thread Treviño
I've done some quick checks, and from an Unity point of view, this is
not a problem in unity side. The menus are not exported from unity-
panel-service.

This means that they are not re-registered with indicator-appmenu or
that it doesn't handle them well (but it's more likely something inside
appmenu-qt5).

2015-07-03 Thread Luis Henriques
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to

backported form of that patch. The 3.13.11-ckt22 upstream stable
patch set is now available. It should be included in the Ubuntu
   kernel as well.

[Bug 1455097] Re: pm-suspend.log and pm-powersave.log not updated since upgrade to vivid

2015-07-03 Thread Alex Muntada
On the other side I removed pm-utils from the system and there are a
couple of remaining scripts in /etc/pm/sleep.d that are worth
mentioning:

 * 10_grub-common
 * 10_unattended-upgrades-hibernate

Thus, those packages are also affected by this bug I guess.

** Also affects: unattended-upgrades (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Also affects: grub2 (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Summary changed:

- pm-suspend.log and pm-powersave.log not updated since upgrade to vivid
+ pm-suspend no longer run since upgrade to vivid

[Bug 1471299] [NEW] Enhancing the output of the boot screen

2015-07-03 Thread Sworddragon
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 15.10 dev and on booting/shutdown the system there are
several lines written to the console like * Starting X display manager
lxdm [ OK ]. The status in the brackets is always aligned to the right
which makes it difficult to assign it to the correct line especially on
widescreens. Maybe the status can always be on the left part of the
related message and updating if the related process is ready. Also if
I'm remembering correctly I have seen the status in the brackets colored
red on failure while the OK is colored white. Maybe the OK can be
colored green then.

[Bug 1470580] Re: unprivileged lxc containers fails with custom bridge

2015-07-03 Thread Serge Hallyn
Indeed, on every error path lxc_user_nic should print an error message
to stderr, but that doesn't end up in the log. If you simply do

lxc-start -n container_name -F

What do you see? On one failure case I see Quota reached, for
instance.

When I copy/paste your network config excerpt, it does work for me.

Is it possible that x does not have an allocation in /etc/lxc/lxc-
usernet for lxcbr0, but the configuration file still has 'lxc.include =
/etc/lxc/default.conf' ?

Please show the full container config and the full /etc/lxc/lxc-usernet
(obfuscated if need be, but then please with annotations so we can be
certain).

[Bug 1470825] Re: Onboard focus with KWin

2015-07-03 Thread marmuta
Great log file, thank you. Here's what happens:
...
12:43:42.951 Enter
12:43:42.952 TouchBegin (master, dev_id=2)
12:43:43.066 ButtonRelease (slave, dev_id=13)
12:43:43.067 TouchEnd (master, dev_id=2)
...

Two observations:
1) There are indeed touch events coming in, but only from the master pointer,
none directly from the touch screen device 13. That's new, I haven't seen that
happening before. Onboard sticks with mouse events (ButtonPress/ButtonRelease)
in that case (meaning multi-touch won't be available).
2) The first ButtonPress event is missing, there's only a ButtonRelease. That's
why there's no reaction to the first touch. When you use the mouse the initial
ButtonPress event is there.

I've looked into 1) a bit. The screen seems to be USB connected and probably
uses the hid-multitouch kernel driver and the evdev X driver. Support for the
SYNA7500 seems relatively sensitive to the kernel version. This thread reports
mixed results with various kernels and failures in particular with Vivid's
kernel 3.19:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2187204page=14s=34cfa4caf159096f7cce745988b1ab59
If everything else fails, trying different kernels may make sense.

No idea what could cause 2) yet. I'm working on some way to reproduce
it. Is there anything I should know about your setup? Is this plain KWin
without any other bits of KDE?

Things you could try:
Set Preferences-Keyboard-Advanced-Touch input to none. If there's no
change (likely) set Preferences-Keyboard-Advanced-Input event source to
GTK.
