[Bug 1432448] Re: At turning machine on , , white screen .. mouse click .. then login gives this rquest

2015-09-25 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
This doesn't seem to have anything to do with indicator-sound, and in
any case, it doesn't contain any of the information that developers
would need to fix anything. Please check the instructions before
reporting any further bugs. Thanks!

has been updated before testing its contents.
  * Silence the warnings issued by the favicon fetcher when the server
replies with an error. Those warnings can easily flood the console

[Bug 1414642] Re: gedit is freezing in 14.10 Utopic

2015-09-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 1405535] Re: highlight nested brackets

2015-09-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1376403] Re: gedit manual missing escape sequences

2015-09-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

2015-09-25 Thread Shih-Yuan Lee
The original modemmanager 1.4.10-1 can work for Sierra DW5809e (EM7305).
The mobile broadband connection behavior on wily works differently from trusty.
Trusty uses wwan0 and it needs the gateway for some ISPs.
Wily setups ppp0 and it doesn't need the gateway.

[Bug 1499671] [NEW] Better usablity for ctrl-f, then go to next match

2015-09-25 Thread Thomas Guettler
Public bug reported:

Searching the next match with gedit makes me crazy.

I press Ctrl+F

The search input box opens

I enter foo

There is a match for foo. Nice

Up to now everything is sane

I want to search the next match (with keyboard, not mouse): How?

For me Enter or ctrl+F (again) would be intuitive.

But both don't work...

Am I the only one being confused here?

Version: Gedit 3.10.4 (default of Ubuntu 14.04)

Other people agreed, that this is not very useable:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/678219/gedit-search-next-match-usability

Please make "go to next match" work like in e.g. firefox.

This would make me and other users happy :-)

I decided to not fix more than just this issue. In the mean time I even
received a patch from Martin Pitt.

Once the package is accepted and shows up, I guess I have to request
another sync right?

[Bug 1499675] [NEW] lightdm doesn´t ask for password

2015-09-25 Thread Mark
Public bug reported:

For a long time (from previous versions) on my system I had only one
user - Mark - with admin privileges, a password set and auto-login at
startup. At boot I went directly to the Mark desktop.

Now I add another user for my daughter - Carol - normal user but with no
password. I switch off auto-login for both users. At startup I see the
lightdm screen with users Carol and Mark, I can access Carol correctly
by pressing "Log In" but when I choose Mark I am not asked for the
password, I see the "Log In" button and enter directly in the Mark
desktop without being asked for a password.

I can also access Mark directly from the Carol account using the drop-
down in the top left, again without being asked for a password.

When I look in "user accounts" I see Carol with "no password" and Mark
with a password set, neither have autologin set.

I have looked at all the lightdm config files and can´t see anything
obvious.

I need to protect the Mark account from my growing children. I´d
appreciate your help.

Regards,

Mark Rennie

[Bug 1499265] Re: FFE: 0.2 release of snapcraft

2015-09-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package snapcraft - 0.2

---
snapcraft (0.2) wily; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release (LP: #1499265)
  * Better setuptools support:
- Better support python-setuptools (LP: #1481864),
- Used builddir as a base for setup.py overrides (LP: #1498212),
- Fix build (LP: #1494825),
  * Plugin fixes:
- Add demo.qml back to the snapcraft.yaml for the QML Demo (LP: #1491301),
- stage package libgudev-1.0-0, which makes the godd snap actually
  work (LP: #1498347),
- Wrap setup.py calls to configure the shebang writer (LP: #1486680),
- Update tomcat upstream URL, fixes example again (LP: #1491303),
- Add libgudev-1.0-dev as build-tools for godd example,
  Ensure C library configuration tools don't use system
  paths (LP: #1496789),
  * Snapcraft cli:
- On clean, check the contents of the parts dir only if it
  exists. (LP: #1497371)
- Load the config before trying to run (LP: #1498140),
- Notify user why the password is being requested (LP: #1481499),
- Fix numerous issues in snapcraft run (LP: #1486659),
  * Snapcraft stage-packages:
- Enable ports for architectures that are not amd64 or
  i386 (LP: #1498157),
- Improving stage-package handling (LP: #1497453, LP: #1497582)
- Fetch all packages in a single download run with proper
  progress (LP: #1498333),
  * Snapcraft wiki queries excessive (LP: #1496381),
  * Snapcraft internals:
- Add 'simple' and 'has-leftovers' flags to all integration tests job
  units. (LP: #1484596),
- Regex for binary and service names (LP: #1495662),
- Provide a nice error when tabs found in snapcraft.yaml (LP: #1477875),
- Use relative paths for image creation (LP: #1497108),
- Use the python logger (LP: #1476452),
- snapcraft now has less exit points (LP: #1477639),
- Depend and Build-Depend on python3-requests (LP: #1496363),
- Add autopkgtest, reshuffle build-deps accordingly (LP: #1496392),
- Fix "snapcraft run" (LP: #1484720),
  * Examples packaged (LP: #1498189).

[Bug 1499679] [NEW] Function keys F1-F11 are not working in ubuntu's package, but work in author's package

2015-09-25 Thread Adrian
Public bug reported:

Functions Keys, such as F1 (for quick build) or F11 (for bibtex) do not
work in the texmaker 4.4.1-1 installed ubuntu package: simply nothing
happens. The appropriate functions only work, when selected in menu or
via mouse (button-bar).

However, these keys work in the ubuntu package build by the texmaker
authors - downloadable from
http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/texmaker_ubuntu_15.04_4.4.1_amd64.deb

my setup: ubuntu 15.04, 64bit

[Bug 1475266] Re: CVE-2014-2324 not patched in 1.4.33-1+nmu2ubuntu2

2015-09-25 Thread Sebastian Wagner
A fix won't be provided for Ubuntu 14.04 by the lighttpd team, the issue
has also been closed invalid. Thus, I consider the usage of lighttpd on
Ubuntu as highly discouraged.

However they have some backports at OpenSuSE, which can be used. See
https://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/lighttpd/wiki/GetLighttpd#Debian-
based-systems

[Bug 1499726] [NEW] Unable to disable SMART for Corsair Neutron GTX SSD

2015-09-25 Thread Rudolf Leitgeb
Public bug reported:

During every boot sequence, SMART commands are sent to this SSD, causing
a minute long hang, until a kernel error message appears, telling me
that some SMART command failed. Since SSDs are not the target audience
for SMART checks anyway, I wanted to disable smart checks through gnome-
disk tool.

When I tried to disable SMART for this disk, I got the following error message:
===
Error sending ATA command SMART, sub-command DISABLE OPERATIONS: ATA command
failed: error=0x04 count=0x00 status=0x51 (g-io-error-quark,0)
===

After closing the error dialog, SMART switch in the window is turned
back on :( All I wanted was disable SMART checks during boot time for
this disk

The kernel message (taken from dmesg output) regarding SMART and the SSD at
boot time is as follows:
===

Wow, works like a treat!!

I'd definitely expect there to be only one way to do it, and for
`service postgresql start 9.3` to have the effect that `service
postgresql pgstart 9.3` has in your patch.

With much thanks,

Eoghan

2015-09-25 Thread Gannet
A little update:

$ cancel -a

disconnects.

[Bug 652978] Re: Notify-OSD should be suppressed when using the sound menu

2015-09-25 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
** No longer affects: indicator-sound

** No longer affects: ayatana-design

** Description changed:

  When using the sound menu, the user is immediately visually notified
  about switching of tracks by the menu itself.

  +

  When notifying using Notify-OSD, it covers some parts of sound menu
  itself. I think Notify-OSD should not be shown when switching tracks
  using the sound-menu and MAY BE whenever switching manually.

  Example video:
  http://dl.dropbox.com/u/275756/out.ogv

-
  PS:
  U1 was not working, so dropbox. :)
  and yes, I did spend like 10 minutes thinking which songs I should show in
the video. :P
+
+ The equivalent for the volume slider is bug 1389761.

[Bug 1425893] Re: [system-settings] Changing modem technologies on krillin is a bad experience

2015-09-25 Thread Femma
** Description changed:

  Krillin, rtm #18

  "Changing modem technologies" refers to that which was implemented in
  bug 1379850.

  This bug has two parts:
  1. UX
  The current spec [2] seemingly allows the user to interact with the UI
while the technologies are changed. This is not possible and was not
implemented. The UI should be blocked while the technology is changed, like it
is on Android [1].

  2. Ubuntu System Settings
  Ubuntu System Settings should implement the new spec.

  [1] Video TBD
  [2] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Networking#phone-cellular
+
+ Proposed UX Solution:
+
+ When the user switches to 3G and the modem reset occurs, a dialog will appear
indicating the switch is happening and the UI will be temporarily inactive.
+ Screenshot attached and spec updated.

[Bug 1482181] Re: Media keys (ctrl-alt-t, brightness, play/pause) don't work randomly after logging

2015-09-25 Thread Didier Roche
I'm getting it for a couple of releases. It was one on 10 login before.
It seems recently, it's one every 4 of them, so quite high in term of
frequency.

monitoring and pressing a media key gives:
signal time=1443171424.483295 sender=:1.28 -> destination=(null destination)
serial=7116 path=/org/gnome/Shell; interface=org.gnome.Shell;
member=AcceleratorActivated
   uint32 33
   uint32 0
   uint32 9782134

So, the signal is sent.

I checked, and I have u-s-d running.

[Bug 1499342] Re: National Roaming not working

2015-09-25 Thread Michael Zanetti
now, look at that:

I've put my sim card back into the Ubuntu and surprise: o2 now shows up
in the cellular settings.

a new scan-for-operators gives this now (I've stripped the still
forbidden Telekom and vodafone networks):

phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ /usr/share/ofono/scripts/scan-for-operators /ril_0
Scanning operators on modem /ril_0...
[ /ril_0/operator/26203 ]
MobileNetworkCode = 03
Name = simyo
MobileCountryCode = 262
Technologies = gsm umts
Status = current

[ /ril_0/operator/26207 ]
MobileNetworkCode = 07
Name = o2 - de
MobileCountryCode = 262
Technologies = gsm umts
Status = available

So this seems to indicate a first-time registration issue with the Ubuntu
phone, doesn't it?

If needed my wife still has a simyo card which has only been in a Ubuntu
Phone ever since the roaming is enabled. I can provide test results or
debug logs from that card still, given that mine seems to be activated
now.

[Bug 1433320] Re: systemd-journald, udev, logind crashed with SIGABRT -- get killed by 1 min watchdog timeout on longer kernel lockups

2015-09-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package apport - 2.19-0ubuntu1

---
apport (2.19-0ubuntu1) wily; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release:
- apport: Drop re-nicing. This might decrease the time a user has to wait
  for apport to finish the core dump for a crashed/hanging foreground
  process.  (See LP #1278780)
- kernel_crashdump: Enforce that the log/dmesg files are not a symlink.
  This prevents normal users from pre-creating a symlink to the
  predictable .crash file, and thus triggering a "fill up disk" DoS attack
  when the .crash report tries to include itself. Thanks to halfdog for
  discovering this! (CVE-2015-1338, part of LP #1492570)
- SECURITY FIX: Fix all writers of report files (package_hook,
  kernel_crashdump, and similar) to open the report file exclusively,
  i. e. fail if they already exist. This prevents privilege escalation
  through symlink attacks. Note that this will also prevent overwriting
  previous reports with the same same. Thanks to halfdog for discovering
  this!  (CVE-2015-1338, LP: #1492570)
- apport: Ignore process restarts from systemd's watchdog. Their traces
  are usually useless as they don't have any information about the actual
  reasaon why processes hang (like VM suspends or kernel lockups with bad
  hardware) (LP: #1433320)

After which gnome crashes with "Oh No Something Is Wrong" screen

$ uname -r
4.1.7-200.fc22.x86_64

Hardware i3-2100 CPU/GPU

This bug is going on already for a long long time, but at least computer
is not hard freezing anymore, although gnome is crashing so any gtk
applications running doing something stalls.

[Bug 1498310] Re: /etc/init.d/udev-finish does not get cleaned up on upgrade

2015-09-25 Thread Martin Pitt
> did restore a recent wily backup though, so these now obsolete udev
files in /etc/init & /etc/init.d files might stem from that

Ah, this would explain it then.

I just did a dist-upgrade from vivid to current wily, and it works as
intended:

Setting up udev (225-1ubuntu4) ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/udev ...
Installing new version of config file /etc/init/udevmonitor.conf ...
addgroup: The group `input' already exists as a system group. Exiting.
A chroot environment has been detected, udev not started.
update-initramfs: deferring update (trigger activated)
Removing obsolete conffile /etc/init.d/udev-finish ...
Removing obsolete conffile /etc/init/udev-finish.conf ...
Removing obsolete conffile /etc/init/udev-fallback-graphics.conf ...

And /etc/init.d/udev-finish is gone. So let's chalk this up as "your
backup restored the file". (It's by far *not* a good idea to backup
/etc/ in its entirety and restore it! Please just backup files that you
actually changed).
