[Bug 1503062] Re: installation always crashes
You can verify the image file by running md5sum on it and comparing with the list of md5sums on the download site. More likely though, it is a cheap usb stick that has some bad spots. You can verify that the stick is ok by choosing the check disc option at the boot menu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1503062 Title: installation always crashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1503062/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1507224] Re: mplayer keyboard controls don't work with audio files
Forgot to add: this affects 2 machines and no custom keyboard hotkey mapping was performed on either. Also, apparently, the mapping files are only present in the mplayer package, but I'm using mplayer2 which doesn't install them, presumably because it doesn't need them. [Bug 1507230] [NEW] 15.10beta trouble with suspend
Public bug reported: Hi, the powermode suspend (to ram) was working perfectly, reliably, fast and without any problem on my machine with 14.04. It does not work properly with 15.10 beta anymore: Doing a suspend through the Xubuntu menu drives the machine off. It can't restartet again and needs a fresh boot. using pm-suspend puts the machine in a correct suspend mode, where the power led is blinking as expected, and even wakes up again, but the screen is not initialized correctly. It looks pink, severely distorted, contents moving. I can see something which remotely looks like the login window, but need a full reboot in order to make the screen work again correctly. [Bug 1507232] [NEW] Mangler mangling hostname/port information in wily
Public bug reported: Mangler was working fine for me in 15.04. I'd upgraded to 15.10 (along with adding a skylake chip/board/ddr4) things were broken, mostly due to hardware. After I finally sorted it all out (bios update, linux 4.3 rc5 for either video or e1000 freeze), mangler is still broken. Steps to reproduce: install mangler. Launch from the command line. Choose the 'settings' button on the left, choose the 'debug' tab and check all the debug tabs. Use 'server list' button on the left to add a server -- it doesn't need to be a real vent server. I used www.yahoo.com, port 1234, username anonymous. Save it, hit connect -- debugging claims invalid server name: libventrilo3: 19:02:51.447335: ---> v3_login() libventrilo3: 19:02:51.447417: v3_login: invalid server name format. expected: 'name:port' libventrilo3: 19:02:51.447439: <--- v3_login() Repeat the process, but using 'quick connect' and you'll see it do dns lookup, etc, then fail in a normal "no server there." Hit 'quick connect' again and now the normal text is replaced with what looks like garbage; unicode boxes of "000E", "0004", and "000E". I can 'quick connect' to my real clan server successfully -- but not via the saved entry in the server list. Trying the server list, debug produces: libventrilo3: 19:08:29.594633: ---> v3_login() libventrilo3: 19:08:29.594673: parsed server name: *`[0002] libventrilo3: 19:08:29.594677: parsed server port: [0004] libventrilo3: 19:08:29.594708: ---> v3_queue_event() libventrilo3: 19:08:29.594712: queued event type 1. now have 1 event in queue libventrilo3: 19:08:29.594716: <--- v3_queue_event() libventrilo3: 19:08:29.594720: Looking up hostname for *`[0002] libventrilo3: 19:08:29.624959: Hostname lookup failed. libventrilo3: 19:08:29.624994: <--- v3_login() ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: mangler 1.2.5-2build1 Uname: Linux 4.3.0-040300rc5-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Sat Oct 17 18:56:38 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-10-17 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Alpha amd64 (20150924) SourcePackage: mangler UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: mangler (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug wily -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507232 Title: Mangler mangling hostname/port information in wily To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mangler/+bug/1507232/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

moses, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. [Bug 1505670] Re: "uncaptured python exception"
So, I went ahead and made a different version of the patch which sends asyncore's logging output to syslog, instead of stderr. This keep's apt-get's output clean. I think this is the patch I'd prefer. However, I should probably also bark up the tree of asyncore.py and ask why they are calling 'print' on something labelled as an 'error' instead of just throwing an exception (which would allow apt-avahi-discover to deal with it appropriately). (see attached patch). ** Patch added: "Revised, syslog-based solution." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid-deb-proxy/+bug/1505670/+attachment/4498666/+files/apt-avahi-discover-syslog.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to squid-deb-proxy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1505670 Title: "uncaptured python exception" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid-deb-proxy/+bug/1505670/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1507255] [NEW] Garbled graphics in Wily with Intel GMA4500 chip
Public bug reported: This affects both Ubuntu GNOME and Ubuntu Wily 20151017.1. The graphics are so badly garbled I can only file this bug on an unaffected OS where I've held back the update on just that one package to about Alpha 2 status: lance@lance-INTEL-desktop:~$ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-intel xserver-xorg-video-intel: Installed: 2:2.99.917-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 2:2.99.917+git20150808-0ubuntu4 Version table: 2:2.99.917+git20150808-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main i386 Packages *** 2:2.99.917-1ubuntu1 0 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I'll attach a picture of the garbled screen with the updated xserver- xorg-video-intel package. Oddly a screenshot taken from the affected OS displays perfectly OK in the unaffected OS so I used my camera. The info provided by lspci may not be very helpful: lance@lance-INTEL-desktop:~$ lspci -v -s `lspci | awk '/VGA/{print $1}'` 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 0025 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 27 Memory at d000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M] Memory at c000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at f1c0 [size=8] Expansion ROM at [disabled] Capabilities: Kernel driver in use: i915 The tech specs show: Internal Graphics: • Intel ® GMA4500 onboard graphics subsystem with support for: ― Analog displays (VGA) ― Digital displays (DVI-D) I'm just using VGA ATM. Something else worth mentioning is this warning displayed while filing the bug report: Your system is providing 3D via software rendering rather than hardware rendering. This is a compatibility mode which should display 3D graphics properly but the performance may be very poor. If the problem you're reporting is related to graphics performance, your real question may be why X didn't use hardware acceleration for your system. I did try booting an earlier kernel to no avail, but holding back just this one update prevents the borkage. Hamlib model: 122 RIG confg param: ? --- I can pack "RIG confg param" with all the prams that I use in wsjtx to control my rig, what do YOU use for rig_set_ptt=??? I thought to set it as "rig_set_ptt=cat,serial_speed 38400,rts_state=off,dtr=off", because rigctld dose use -P for ptt- type=cat seen in wsjtx. I use wsjtx with my 857d ALL the TIME! It sends set_freq and set_mode to the radio. Soundmodem needs to meets the bar using rigctld for control, and send set_freq and set_mode. [Bug 1504829] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad SL510] Loud beep on resume from suspend
FWIW, Kernel 3.14.54 was good and 3.15.0-031500rc1 was bad. Commit bisection is a little intimidating, since I have never done it before but I heve given it a try anyway. [Bug 586528] Re: keyboard doesn't work after screensaver shuts down the monitor
@Václav Haisman, this 3 bugs where reported in 2010, i have tested this bug in 15.04 unity DE, there are no bug, if you have bug provide your steps to reproduce otherwise this will be closed on Monday. P.s. In 5 years in codebase of gnome-screensaver were a lot changes this bug seems to be fixed without marking this bug report as "closed". Don't argue if you think i'm not right, just provide steps to reproduce it, i will try this, if your steps will cause this bug, i will triagle this bug so devs can fix this. if you dont have valid steps to reproduce, there are no need to write to devs, they wouldn't fix this.
