[Bug 1514827] Re: Xorg fails to start after upgrade 15.04 -> 15.10
CoolEsza, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (1.38). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. [Bug 1516251] Re: RTL8723BE Wifi driver unstable
Alan Thompson, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-ac100 -notebook-pc-series/8499326/model/8903280#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (F.1A). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it address the issue? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. Also, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Otherwise, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - RTL8723BE Wifi driver unstable + [HP Notebook - 15-ac106na] Wifi driver unstable ** Summary changed: - [HP Notebook - 15-ac106na] Wifi driver unstable + [HP Notebook - 15-ac106na] Wifi unstable -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516251 Title: [HP Notebook - 15-ac106na] Wifi unstable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1516251/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1392647] Re: smbstatus reports dead connection as active
Here is some additional information that I could gather over this problem: - smbstatus from samba 4.3.1 also shows the Protocol version from connected clients: root@vdebian:~# smbstatus -v using configfile = /usr/local/samba/etc/smb.conf Samba version 4.3.1 PID Username Group MachineProtocol Version -- 733 client1 clients 192.168.1.21 (ipv4:192.168.1.21:57591) Unknown (0x0311) Opened /usr/local/samba/var/lock/connections.tdb ... Unless I force Win10 to use SMBv1 it talks to samba with SMBv3 and in this case smbstatus reports "Unknown (0x0311)". Otherwise (with SMBv1, an XP- or Linux-client) it shows a correct Version like "NT1". Also see https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11472 - When using the -v option with smbstatus, it prints the line "Opened /usr/local/samba/var/lock/connections.tdb". When I browse this directory and look for connections.tdb, the file simply does not exist. - The problems as shown above only occur when a Windows-client connects via SMBv2/3 (e.g. Win7/8/10) to Samba 4.1.x (maybe also 4.0.x, I haven't testet yet). So in my layman's terms I would explain it like this: on the one hand it's the clients fault when it doesn't tell to the server to release locked files. Maybe SMBv2/3 uses some faulty functionality that is completely ignored by Samba 3.x and therefore causes no issue - other than Samba 4.x. On the other hand the server should be able to detect dead connections and close them after a while since there is a chance that the client lost the connection unexpectedly or because of external reasons. ** Bug watch added: Samba Bugzilla #11472 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11472 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392647 Title: smbstatus reports dead connection as active To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1392647/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1513648] Re: [drm:intel_pipe_config_compare [i915]] *ERROR* mismatch in ips_enabled (expected 1, found 0)
I have now downloaded and installed kernel 4.3.0 as requested and this seems to have fixed the problem. I have added the corresponding tags but I'm not sure about the "spelling" of the version numbers. Another example in the standard text would be helpful (there was no match on the pattern "X.Y-rcZ" but rather something like "X.Y.Z-N[-generic]_X.Y.Z-N.D"!) If some additional input (or action) would be useful, just ask. I had the same problem while using Linux Mint Mate, but not while using the Cinnamon Desktop, I also don't remember the problem occurring while using Ubuntu Unity Desktop. - I am fairly new to Linux so I don't know too much about how to go about finding out the problem. + Videos flick in Kubuntu. [Bug 1514505] Re: Kernel Oops - unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference; RIP is at xpad_probe+0x33d/0x9d0
Jonathan, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 3.13 to 3.19 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? [Bug 1516025] Re: Realtek ALC3661 Alienware14
Mohd Imran Jamadar, regarding just the audio loudness (not the mic issue) could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . This will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, Y, and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this report's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 1514856] Re: Receiving "Ambiguous shortcut" even when action is not in use
The contextual actions is in work in progress. Right now, every action is active, no matter if the component it is attached to is visible or not. This means you will have several shortcuts set, as page stacks/adaptive page layouts do not disable them while in background. The shortcut system therefore cannot decide which shortcut is active... [Bug 1516102] Re: Wifi unstable and unresponsive[RTL8723BE]
soumyajyoti, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)? [Bug 1504315] Re: right hand click doubles down on prompts (which autoappear from selected text)
The right click has been there for quite some time, before we started the race for convergence. There is no "official" way to detect whether we have mouse attached, the QInpiutDeviceInfo is about to come. Unity8 has ported something from the upstream code, but we are waiting till upstream ports that back to Qt 5.4. I won't happen, we will have to move some code to the UITK and provide temporary API for that. [Bug 1355046] Re: Colourized icon with invalid source is black
I think this has been fixed indirectly in 1.3 by one OTAx bug where we had the same issue with the header navigation actions getting black boxes. [Bug 1421293] Re: Icon width is inconsistent when height is specified
Ahm, Albert, I have worst news for you: design said we have to set the implicit width/height to 2grid units... so you will have to do more calculations if we apply that :( Perhaps we expose the image size so you can decide whether you want to bind to that or not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421293 Title: Icon width is inconsistent when height is specified To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1421293/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
