@Bryan Get the same issue with midori (its confusing as it is not directly depending on libnss3). The default browser used is 'google'; and i get that issue when: - i use the 'google' search field - i type an incomplete part url into the top url bar (without http://www.) So the steps are identical. We do support arm64 UEFI systems for server and for those, there's no use case for flash-kernel to do anything. It does commonly get installed though. Though flash-kernel-installer knows not to make d-i install it on arm*/efi systems, it does tend to get installed via other mechanisms. curtin image-based installs, for example, do include flash-kernel. When f-k is there, it breaks kernel upgrades because the f-k kernel hooks bail out. As Newell mentioned, the bypass-on-EFI code change in Debian only skip unknown devices. If a system does appear that has a kernel/initrd in encrypted MTD or similar, we just need to add a db entry for it like any other f-k supported device and this bypass path would not be taken. I guess an alternate solution would be to make tools like curtin, our factory image creation process, etc be smart enough to detect an efi system and set the FLASH_KERNEL_SKIP variable - but I don't see why that's any better than fixing it in one place. I know that using upstart and the "service" command are the preferred way to manage MySQL, but as long as the init.d script continues to be shipped it should parallel the upstart script when possible. This change matters to projects like ec2-consistent-shutdown, which tries to shutdown MySQL cleanly across a number of linux variations. It currently does that with a hardcoded reference to /etc/init.d/mysql, which apparenty works, while I don't think the upstart syntax would be as portable. Public bug reported: I have a system where the default listening port is changed for sshd, done at the bottom of my sshd_config. I recently changed the ListenAddress from its default (unset, which listens on all interfaces) to bind to a specific IP. The resulting relevant snippet of my sshd_config was: ListenAddress my_ip_here Port 12345 I then restarted ssh with /etc/init.d/ssh restart and found that ssh was not listening. Re-reading the manpage, I see this: ListenAddress Specifies the local addresses sshd(8) should listen on. The fol‐ lowing forms may be used: ListenAddress host|IPv4_addr|IPv6_addr ListenAddress host|IPv4_addr:port ListenAddress [host|IPv6_addr]:port If port is not specified, sshd will listen on the address and all prior Port options specified. The default is to listen on all local addresses. Multiple ListenAddress options are permitted. Additionally, any Port options must precede this option for non- port qualified addresses. On a hunch, I remove the Port line and simply change my relevant config to: ListenAddress my_ip_here:12345 sshd then restarted just fine. [Bug 1521749] [NEW] NUC NUC5CPYH Does not boot on 4.2.0-19 (Ubuntu 15.10)
Public bug reported: I have a NUC NUC5CPYH. It boots beautifully on Ubuntu 15.04 and Ubuntu 15.10 with linux-image-3.19.0-34-generic -- but when I try to boot with linux-image-4.2.0-19-generic I simply see the following: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y2c9i87kafvwsq1/IMG_1476.jpg?dl=0 The keyboard stops responding after this line: systemd[1]: Started udev Kernel Device Manager. Here is output from lspci -vnvn < http://pastie.org/10596250 - I am running headless, so there is no Xorg installed. - I tried updating the NUC bios to the latest (PY0044) - I tried adding GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nomodeset" - I tried disabling devices in the bios like audio I am not sure how to troubleshoot. [Bug 871133] Re: Ubuntu Oneric Volume Step Can Not be Changed
I decided to take some initiative and apply the patch myself. Naturally, it needed to be applied to both gnome-settings-daemon and unity- settings-daemon. The new setting is exposed at "org.gnome.settings- daemon.plugins.sound.volume-step" and can easily be changed with dconf. [Bug 1521773] [NEW] mediaplayer app is detected as legacy app
Public bug reported: The mediaplayer app doesn't have the key "X-Ubuntu-Touch=true" in its .desktop file. That causes unity8 to recognize it as legacy app and it will trigger a warning message when it's running while leaving windowed mode. Soon unity8 will also prevent running legacy apps in staged mode. Public bug reported: I am running a system with a separate /var partition - this causes errors due to various services being started before the /var partition is mounted. As an attempt to fix this, I have tried adding the x-initrd.mount option to the entry in /etc/fstab for the /var partition, according to http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.special.html this should add the partition to the sysroot-usr.mount target. Example fstab entry UUID={*irrelevant to bug report*} /varext4 defaults,x-initrd.mount0 2 What actually happens is that this causes the partition not to be mounted at all after boot. Using sudo mount -a does nevertheless successfully mount the partition. My drive was not formatted on the device, it was pre-formatted and worked fine. I have only tried this one but I know other users have said they are able to do this. Re power issues that could be but hard to diagnose, perhaps the syslog would indicate something as the drive is mounted Re no files, did you enable full access from the menu in File Manager? If so then yes a bug against that app. The external drives app is indeed an issue and on the list to fix. In debian, by default the encrypted partition, after it is setup, it is filled with random data such that it's encrypted and stored on disk. In ubuntu, it is our conscious decision to not do this due to performance constraints by default, upon installation. I am currently testing the fix from http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/mkp/linux.git/commit/?h=bugzilla-93581=7c4fbd50bfece00abf529bc96ac989dd2bb83ca4 This will trigger drive failures requiring a hard powercycle on any kernel that has the aforementioned bug relating to failing to clamp transfer limits to device imposed limits as well as controller imposed limits. To reproduce: install a Seagate Archive 8TB (v2) hard drive, attempt bulk data writes. I can reproduce with a seagate Model=ST8000AS0002-1NA17Z on the AR15 firmware.
