[Bug 1558512] Re: Xorg freeze

2016-03-19 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1522922]

2016-03-19 Thread Twisted-fall
Created attachment 122338
no-flicker-after-dpms-4.5.patch

Kernel 4.5.0 still has this bug for me. I managed to narrow down the
patch to remedy the flickering to just one hunk though.

[Bug 1559304] Re: nvidia 361 drivers cause unresponsive machine

2016-03-19 Thread shinyblue
Please note that because my system is unresponsive WITH this package
installed, I had to run apport-bug when they were NOT installed, so some
of the above may not be relevant!

Very happy to provide other logs from my system or to try anything
(although I'm not clever enough to start compiling kernels or such!).

[Bug 1558010] Re: Sections keyboard control

2016-03-19 Thread Femma
** Description changed:

Using the TAB key it must be possible to focus the Sections component in
the header. The next TAB will go to the next focus item, and does not
change the selected section. To change the selected section, the left
and right arrow keys must be used.

[Bug 1536871] Re: [MIR] fwupd

2016-03-19 Thread Mario Limonciello
Seth,

Thanks for raising that early concern. I don't believe there is currently any
enforcement of sha256.
The LVFS metadata source that is configured by default
(https://secure-lvfs.rhcloud.com/downloads/firmware.xml.gz) is also set to use
sha1.

I'll talk to upstream about sorting out both enforcement of sha256 and
changing the default metadata to sha256.

If you've got any other biggies, please let me know as they come up.

[Bug 1559185] Re: Doesn't understand apt: urls

2016-03-19 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Only slightly related, but maybe interesting for you: Long-term, you might want
to consider to switch to distro-agnostic appstream:// urls, which GNOME
Software can handle. So, appstream:org.gnome.gedit.desktop instead of apt:gedit
.
See
https://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/sect-AppStream-Services-UrlHandler.html

[Bug 1424769] Re: virtualbox-guest-x11 uninstallable with mesa-lts-utopic

2016-03-19 Thread LocutusOfBorg
your system is cheating somewhere.
You say your xorg version is 1.17.1, but before you said "ABI
xorg-video-abi-15" that means xorg 1.15.

You need if you have xorg-server-lts-vivid to instal the lts-vivid, and remove
the lts-wily package.
otherwise you can upgrade to the lts-wily stack but be sure you only have one,
and the corresponding virtualbox version installed.

[Bug 1557360] Re: package libstdc++6:i386 4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: package libstdc++6:i386 is already installed and configured

[Bug 1559578] [NEW] fwupdate-signed: arch-qualified package names, but not coinstallable

2016-03-19 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

The fwupdate-signed source package produces binary packages that each
have the architecture name: fwupdate-{amd64,arm64,armhf,i386}-signed.
However, unlike in the case of grub, these binary packages are not
coinstallable, as each contains the file /usr/lib/fwupdate/version.

Given this, I don't see any reason to have the architecture name in the
package name. I would suggest renaming all the binary packages to
'fwupdate-signed' instead.

Since the fwupdate-amd64-signed binary package was already in the
archive, I didn't consider this a blocker for binary NEW and have let
the others in. A resolution for this bug should include appropriate
transition handling for all architectures.

[Bug 1559527] Re: Images randomly disappear on right-click as well as other strange behaviour

2016-03-19 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Upstream have closed the bug as they believe that it is a downstream
issue.

** Description changed:

- I am running Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 with GNOME 3.18, though this issue does
- not appear to be present on Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.18.
-
- The issue is that when I right-click on an image in gnome-photos some
- images disappear and then it acts all very strange, it doesn't even
- allow me to close it because the window-control buttons are gone so I
- either have to close it through the Activities Overview or through
- another means. I have attached a screencast of what I mean (when my
- mouse goes over one of the images at the beginning and they all
- disappear that is when I right-click).
+ When I right-click on an image in gnome-photos some images disappear and

This makes gnome-photos completely unusable though because even when
left-clicking after doing the fatal right-click it doesn't work as it
should, or really do anything but make the image I clicked on
  temporarily disappear...

I have also attached the Terminal output.
+

+ Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.18. But only when using the pre-

The kernel currently running on the hardware is the -77 revision, not
the -76 revision, so I believe apport-collect would be misleading rather
than helpful, so I'm marking this as confirmed. If you require
additional information anyway, let me know and I can gather it.

[Bug 1559576] [NEW] Ubuntu Gnome boots to black screen when using proprietary Nvidia drivers on a laptop with Optimus

2016-03-19 Thread Manvydas
Public bug reported:

Using latest Ubuntu Gnome x64 daily build with all updates installed.
Lenovo Z70-80 laptop with Nvidia 840M, BIOS updated to latest version, secure
boot and other potentially problematic BIOS settings disabled.

Can only see a black screen instead of a log-in screen after boot completes
when proprietary Nvidia drivers are installed.
Regular Ubuntu works absolutely fine on the same machine with the same driver
version. Attempting to use older drivers on Ubuntu Gnome made no difference.

Bug is affecting more than just me. We were talking about workarounds in
ubuntuforums. User fthx claims that switching to lightdm fixes the issue

[Bug 1559408] Re: Many PMD driver options are disabled, including "BNX2X"!

2016-03-19 Thread Thiago Martins
After digging into DPDK source code, I found this:

--
cd ~/sources/dpdk/dpdk-2.2.0/drivers/net/

grep -ri \/firmware *

bnx2x/bnx2x.c:#define FW_NAME_57711 "/lib/firmware/bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw"
bnx2x/bnx2x.c:#define FW_NAME_57810 "/lib/firmware/bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.2.51.0.fw"
--

However, those files doesn't exists on Ubuntu 16.04! Package linux-
firmware doesn't have any of it. So, I downloaded it:

--
cd /lib/firmware/bnx2x/

wget
https://github.com/cernekee/linux-firmware/raw/master/bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.2.51.0.fw
wget
https://github.com/cernekee/linux-firmware/raw/master/bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw
--

And then, no more firmware errors!

--
journalctl | grep -i ovs

https://paste.ubuntu.com/15429791/
--

 However, still doesn't work! Look:

--
ovs-vsctl add-br br0 -- set bridge br0 datapath_type=netdev

log:

[Bug 1558724] [NEW] Disable gst0.10 build dep (or merge package with debian)

2016-03-19 Thread Bryan Quigley
Public bug reported:

This was fixed in debian in:

squeak-vm (1:4.10.2.2614-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Gix stop build-depend on libgstreamer0.10-dev: Plugin isn't built
anyway.
Closes: Bug#799726. Thanks to Moritz Muehlenhoff and Tobias Pape.

gst0.10 is being removed from xenial. This package will fail to build
once that happens.

[Bug 1551952] Re: FFE: Please merge multipath-tools 0.5.0+git1.656f8865 from Debian unstable

2016-03-19 Thread Stéphane Graber
Unfortunate that this only gets in so late in the cycle, but I can
certainly see the benefit of updating this before we have to support it
for 5 years.

Testing seems reasonable. debdiff is unreviewable so we can only rely on
the testing...

Assuming that you'll take care of any yet unknown regression from this,
you may go ahead and upload the merge.

[Bug 1558633] [NEW] Software details page doesn't indicate available updates

2016-03-19 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug reported:

Using current 3.19 git, if you open the details page of an installed
software which has an available update the page doesn't mention it and
only has "remove" and "start" buttons.

It would be nice to have a mention "an update for that software is
available" and an "update" button on the page

I've reported that upstream and they said "So you can actually have the
update button now; for xdg-app we support updating live and you get the
extra button on details (so: launch, update, remove)."

So maybe something we need to enable in the apt backend?

[Bug 1559408] Re: Many PMD driver options are disabled, including "BNX2X"!

2016-03-19 Thread Thiago Martins
After digging into DPDK source code, I found this:

--
cd ~/sources/dpdk/dpdk-2.2.0/drivers/net/

grep -ri \/firmware *

bnx2x/bnx2x.c:#define FW_NAME_57711 "/lib/firmware/bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw"
bnx2x/bnx2x.c:#define FW_NAME_57810 "/lib/firmware/bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.2.51.0.fw"
--

However, those files doesn't exists on Ubuntu 16.04! Package linux-
firmware doesn't have any of it. So, I downloaded it:

--
cd /lib/firmware/bnx2x/

wget
https://github.com/cernekee/linux-firmware/raw/master/bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.2.51.0.fw
wget
https://github.com/cernekee/linux-firmware/raw/master/bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw
--

And then, no more firmware errors!

--
journalctl | grep -i ovs

https://paste.ubuntu.com/15429791/
--

 However, still doesn't work! Look:

--
ovs-vsctl add-br br0 -- set bridge br0 datapath_type=netdev

going to try to still fix in ota10, but doesn't appear it's related to

[Bug 1557318] Re: package python-samba 2:4.1.17+dfsg-4ubuntu3.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
