[Bug 1560181] [NEW] [USB-Audio - VX2, playback] Pulseaudio fails to detect card
Public bug reported: I have an external sound card--A Topping VX2. When plugged in to USB, the device seems to keep Ubuntu from booting properly. It hangs until I remove the USB cord from the device, then Ubuntu boots normally. Once booted, the device can be recognized by Ubuntu, but then seems to nuke PulseAudio, leaving no devices in the Sound Settings. Yes, I have checked this behavior against two Topping VX2 devices, which have identical results. Yes, I have switched out USB cords to test for a bad cord. The VX2 uses Via Technologies VT 1620A USB audio controller. I suspect that this may be the issue. Is this currently supported? Is there a working driver for this? THanks. [Bug 1549529] Re: The keyboard is still installed as US-English even if another language is selected during the installation
Selection of keyboard layout is still borked in the current Lubuntu i386 daily iso file, when booted via grub. There are almost empty boxes, where there should be several alternatives of Swedish keyboards). It looks like the same bug as I saw when I created the bug report. There is no logical reason why the only choice should be Latvian (in Swedish !!!) - I have not selected it, but it appeared after I used 'Identify the keyboard layout' and selected button until Swedish was found. The Dialogue in Ubiquity continues to be in Swedish. The installed system has menus etc in Swedish, but the keyboard layout in the US-English one, so I confirm that the bug is still alive in the current daily iso file. I can change it with setxkbmap se, but it has not been like this before. The keyboard should be possible to select via Ubiquity during the installation. -o- I think the most serious problem is that of installing in UEFI mode, because there is only the grub alternative. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1549529 Title: The keyboard is still installed as US-English even if another language is selected during the installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1549529/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1560143] Re: Indicator area
** Description changed: Hi! - It's not gonna be a typical bug report though it is actually one. It is rather a message to people responsible for the users experience. I was adviced to report it as a bug. I do not won't do look like a hater or a "fell in love with iPhone" cause I'm not the one. It is rather a message to people responsible for the users experience. I was adviced to report it as a bug. I do not wan't to look like a hater or a "fell in love with iPhone" cause I'm not the one. I love the idea of Ubuntu and Ubuntu phone but I do not like the way the system grow up what I'm gonna show in the photos below. We can all remind the words of hatred which occured after first version of Unity in Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.04. These were the absolutely best working (even bluetooth worked perfectly! :-P with !EVERY! device) and most intuitive systems ever! I stiil have many friends who do not switch from 12.04 to MATE just because the system works perfectly (even if not supported any more). Most intuitive? As You released Unity in 11.10 and 12.04 I raised many bugs. Many bugs that left untouched until today and which become actual. Many people on Ubuntu's Facebook profile many times touched the problems I reported as bugs but noone seemed to care. And now we have this phone. Since April 2015 I'm an owner of Aquaris E4.5 - the pioneer. I think the best testing device because of its poor tech parameters and (!!!) and what's most important while creating a mobile system the tiny screen. If You want to be successful and get the very best of users opinions You should think about people with the poorest e nvironment. If I'm happy with my BQ 4.5 then anyone with 5'' MX will be delighted. At the moment I'm waiting for release the official BQ Ubuntu tablet. Though I'm not "delighted" with my phone I'll buy the tablet. It would be awesome however if developers took into account what end users have to say (also these thousands that changed distro after Unity release). Seems like in a phone changing distro won't be as easy. So let's start with all the problems I see in today's interface that makes me that I long for my old Nokia. I'd like to start with a small answer on a question: why my opinion matters. Otherwise I wouldn't waste my time to write this message. As You released Unity, one of Ubuntu developers argued with me that there were made some tests which confirmed "a lightness and intuitive way a user can use a Ubuntu-Unity powered PC ". I sent it to trash with a single stroke. A photo of a 7-year old child sitting in front of an Unity-powered laptop. As I can remember until 12.10/13.04 there was an option which allowed us to choose between GNOME 2.X and Unity. Do You know what was the best way of changing the way of a child to play with my PC? Switching to Unity. Same thing about my mother and many other friends. Intuitive is something different that having to learn by heart how my device work. You can have Your opinion, everyone can have his own opinion, I have my experience with many people that use today Ubuntu and forgot M$ Windows only because of me. I'm gonna share below any in my opinion wrong idea or a bug in a users environment of an Ubuntu-Phone powered device. "My opinion" and my experience so that You couldn't tell me that the opinion is only mine. I hope what I'm/?we are gonna work out below will create a more user friendly device. - So let's start with an indicator area, let's compare it think of its - bugs. As "bugs" I'm gonna define every weak point that makes a user - misses his/hers Android, iOS or even Symbian powered Nokia. + So let's start with an indicator area, let's compare with other devices. + As "bugs" I'm gonna define every weak point that makes a user misses + his/hers Android, iOS or even Symbian powered Nokia. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1560143 Title: Indicator area To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-display/+bug/1560143/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1559288] Re: Touchpad and mouse problem with kernel 3.13.0-83
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected staging ** Description changed: Hi, I'm using a laptop dell inspiron 15 Intel® Core™ i3-4005U CPU @ 1.70GHz × 4 64 bits Description: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS Release: 14.04 When I start with the latest updated kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-83-generic I've no mouse. Even if I plug my usb mouse (usually I use the touchpad) I reboot with 3.13.0-79-generic and no problem. In the kern.log I found this (cat kern.log | grep -i 'error') : kernel: [0.00] ACPI Error: Gpe0Block - 32-bit FADT register is too long (32 bytes, 256 bits) to convert to GAS struct - 255 bits max, truncating (20131115/tbfadt-202) kernel: [ 15.292896] usb 1-1.6: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 kernel: [ 17.896019] EXT4-fs (sda7): re-mounted. Opts: errors=remount-ro (I don't know if all these errors are helpful) I think this is linked to the kernel, because when I use a older one no problem, but perhaps I do a mistake. If you need more logs or stuff please ask me. [Bug 1560143] Re: Indicator area
The last thing from me for today are colours and icons. Can You see the photo above? If You want to launch a program from a list (also from a Unity Launcher) do You read or look for an icon or a colour? I think I described the problem well enough here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1412780 First there was an iOS. Then Android developed because of the price of the Aplle product and intuitive solutions as well. Then there it comes: Ubuntu-phone. The way to beat a "competitor" with a price is closed. There is a well developing Android with a good financing from Google. The only way to the user is the way Nokia did some years ago with its 3210 etc. People loved to use these devices. What people think about Ubuntu today we can read in Internet. For example under this review: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0oQy7jgH_w "Faethe1 Ubuntu has to be just trolling everyone. They promise a superphone and never deliver. Now they finally deliver a phone and it's just awful, the exact opposite of a superphone. It's like a top of the line phone from 2011." If someone delivered a simple phone that has no bugs in the simpliest functions of a Nokia 3210, a colourful user friendly device, then 1 181 174 watchers (21.03.2016) wouldn't have read the comment I quoted above. ** Attachment added: "Mate" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-display/+bug/1560143/+attachment/4606683/+files/mate.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1560143 Title: Indicator area To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-display/+bug/1560143/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1527053]
There are two more issues on Ubuntu associated with gtk2-vs-gtk3 behavior. First is missing global menu and HUD in gtk3. Nonoperability of the global menu is clearly seen in the screenshot attached to this bug report. The other is broken scrollbars. It is not seen on the screenshot, but the current state is that the slider within the modern gtk3-style scrollbars fills the area of the scrollbar with its color as it moves just like a paint brush. [Bug 1560143] Re: Indicator area
...or too much. Too much but perhaps still nothing what we're looking for. I like the idea of having all the function under one finger. So I like the menu in a photo. However I still can see there some possibilities of not killing the idea of usability and making more space + expanding usability of other menu icons. I GIMPed fast the solution. What would be if we had the indicator icons along the longer phone edge? Choosing the right edge seems to be a problem of Ubunu phone. Either You scroll open programs from right to left on a vertical screen (Nexus 5 from bottom to the top) or You scroll indicators that could easily be put along the longer edge, visible, with no need to scroll anything Just as I pasted it in the GIMP in a photo. As I understand these area is to allow people to manage the most important functions easily and fast. The way we have it today is neither simple nor fast nor intuitive. The left app launcher can be easily deactivated and the icons put there or another much better idea: two parallel rows with the icons. This idea is better cause we use the lenght of the screen by putting all indicators visible (without a need to scroll) in two rows either along the upper and lower edge or all at the top in two rows. We should be able to change brightness at ANY time after activating the indicator area. The switcher could be put there along the lower edge, indicator at the top. ** Attachment added: "Too much" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-display/+bug/1560143/+attachment/4606646/+files/IMG_20160321_172243.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1560143 Title: Indicator area To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-display/+bug/1560143/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 730984] Re: Kubuntu - Mount SAMBA shares when Dolphin access them via CIFS
So, *is* anybody working on it right now? Is KDE finally able to transparently mount SMB (or FTP or whatever) file systems so *all* apps can transparently access them? I just tried a fresh Kubuntu 15.10 install, no modifications at all except I added VLC. I tried to play back a 4GB MP4 video I have on our NAS drive. This is the situation: Dragon player (the default in KDE5) starts *downloading* the file before it can play it. Not acceptable! VLC (which I added) refuses to play the file in the first place, claiming it cannot access "smb:/user@workstation/whatever/file.mp4". Not acceptable! KDE5 is really a nice desktop, but with defaults such as these it is absolutely impossible to give this to a new user and make them happy with it. Especially because other desktops don't seem to have this problem. I switched a few PCs back to LXDE and/or Unity (ubuntu) for this single reason. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/730984 Title: Kubuntu - Mount SAMBA shares when Dolphin access them via CIFS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-kde4-meta/+bug/730984/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1557830] Re: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb2.6 in xenial, wily, and trusty
Thanks, this looks good. AFAICS, the quilt patches in Ubuntu mongodb 1:2.6.10-0ubuntu1 apply with only offset, not fuzz. This is allowed, so refreshing wasn't necessary. I can see that your refresh (and one line of series being moved) is effectively a no-op but it would be easier for me if we didn't refresh things unnecessarily to reduce review diff. Similarly the change to COMMON_OPTIONS in debian/rules just adds diff and is a no-op, so I'd prefer not to have it. I'm not sure what approach to take against mongodb 3.2 here though, as there's nothing really to diff against except 2.6. I've also been grappling a little with coming up with a good review strategy for these packages in general. I ended up using meld to examine a 3-way diff between your tree, Ubuntu mongodb 1:2.6.10-0ubuntu1 and Ubuntu juju-mongodb 2.4.10-0ubuntu6. I'm much happier now that I can see better what you changed, though I will have to do something different for 3.2. With this though, I found a couple of other things that I missed before. Sorry to go back to you again on this. Ubuntu mongodb 1:2.6.10-0ubuntu1 introduced --use-system-v8, but you haven't carried this forward. Is this expected (not described in changelog)? Perhaps it is because of --disable-scripting but I'm not sure. You also introduced a nocheck wrapper around override_dh_auto_build which isn't in any of the base versions.
