[Bug 1295267] Re: Windows change Monitor/Desktop after screen lock
This is driving me crazy. :/ What we need, in a nutshell, is this: - window is moved/resized/changed: save desktop state - screen is put to sleep: save desktop state and disable WM events - screen wakes up: restore desktop to what it was, if screens are missing, put all windows on 1st workspace of the primary screen - if screen is disconnected: save desktop state, move out of bounds windows to 1st workspace of the primary screen - if screen is connected again: restore desktop state if no WM events occurred while screen was missing If WM events are suspended a moment before screens are turned off/to stand-by/to sleep/low power mode/... and desktop state is saved, then no re-arrangement would occur. I also noticed that having a window on my secondary screen and issuing a 'Move To Workspace' by right clicking on a title bar, will always send the window to my primary screen. Which is also slightly annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1295267 Title: Windows change Monitor/Desktop after screen lock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1295267/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1454668] Re: Failed to upgrade/reinstall libreoffice-common
Workaround: I've found it is not necessary to uninstall Sophos Anti-virus, just disabling the on-access scanning is enough: /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl disable apt-get upgrade /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl enable and re-enable it afterwards, so you still have the AV protection the rest of the time. [Bug 1590679] Re: Apps can't own session bus names (unity7 interface)
@Gustavo, if we are moving towards a separate interface and forcing a declaration via attributes, I'd prefer introducing that interface now with default to anything because if we add it to unity7, we can't remove it once apps start using it without breaking apps. With the new interface with defaults to any name, we can transition to using attributes by having store reviews force use of the attributes and manual review when using defaults for new uploads-- but the interface still supports the default for old uploads so nothing breaks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590679 Title: Apps can't own session bus names (unity7 interface) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy/+bug/1590679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1551150] Re: devel-proposed - android lxc container fails to start
Basically it looks like that "something" doesn't like the cgroups being mounted on the phone. Immediately after udev starts, every process gets a SIGKILL and the phone goes down. We do need the cgroups filesystems to be mounted for LXC to be happy though, but we don't need them visible after that (since cgmanager is running anyway). So my workaround is to tweak lxc-android-config.conf a bit, first to make it start the container in the background which lets us get useful debug output in the upstart log should it fail again, second, shuffle the cgroup init code a bit in there (based on what I pasted in this bug before) and then adding a bit of code which unmounts all the cgroup filesystems right before emitting the android event. New lxc-android-config.conf is attached. Tested on clean mako using ubuntu-touch/devel-proposed channel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1551150 Title: devel-proposed - android lxc container fails to start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1551150/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1586417] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop kworker/1:0 and systemd-timesync use 100% CPU, system very slow
Sorry about the "ubuntu-bug" filing. I simply googled "report Ubuntu bug" and Google sent me straight to the Launchpad method, so I assumed that was the correct way to do it. If there is a better/preferred way it certainly doesn't seem clear when searching online. Attached are dmesg and journal as requested, run with the nvidia card, which leads to the frequent GUI lockups and systemd-timesync 100% CPU loads I have also conducted one more experiment where I removed the graphics card and used the motherboard's onboard Intel graphics instead. That has run stable with no lockups for two days, so it seems not to be affected by the same problem. It may somehow be linked to the nvidia graphics, whether run under nouveu or the proprietary driver. I also tried an older Nvidia card (GV-N240D3-1GI, slightly fancy in its day, big cooling fan) and had the same issues as with the newer one. I am also attaching for your reference dmesg and journal when it's running on the onboard intel graphics, in case comparing the two is helpful. The onboard graphics seem pretty stable; the only odd artifact I sometimes get is the screen going black for about half a second to one second (for no reason I can readily ascertain) and then going back to totally normal as though nothing had happened. In terms of impact this minor niggle is easy to live with - certainly a lot easier than total GUI lockup every few hours. The "brief black screen" episodes happen every few hours as far as I can tell. Unlike doing 'dmesg > filename.txt' , if I look in the logs directory, 'cat /var/log/dmesg' shows a very empty file - just one line saying "(Nothing has been logged yet.)" Same behaviour here with bq Aquaris m10 (tablet). With wifi and GPS on doesn't find position (Here, OSMScout, uNav). Since the tablet has no 3g it makes impossible to use offline driving directions. Tried app Location Test with no results. I thought GPS might be broken so I did a system check (rebooting into tablet's checking system mode) and GPS seams to work fine but not in Ubuntu. [Bug 1448485] Re: [Compaq Presario CQ60-300EO Notebook PC] kernel doesn't recognize backlight fn keys
I'm also getting this problem on my Compaq Presario CQ60. Fn+F7/Fn+F8 don't work to set brightness (though other Fn keycodes generally work), and in fact I can't seem to find anything to set any value of brightness at all, and the computer seems to be stuck on the setting of "blindingly bright." /sys/class/backlight is empty, and the Xorg log doesn't mention "video" or "light" at all (other than in reporting the "acpi_backlight" kernel setting I tried; it didn't work). I'm using Ubuntu MATE 16.04. I'm... not sure how to post my specs, so I'm attaching a HardInfo report in case it helps :) Let me know if you need any more information, I'd love to see this bug fixed! Re: [Bug 1584348] Launcher thinking app is running still when it'sdead
Thanks for the explanation, it sound quite right. However, the combination of the two makes things worse, and it's probably what makes me react. I guess I'm going to check the current bugs for Dekko as soon as I have the time, seeing as it seems to be the real problem in my case. Thanks, keep up the good work !
