[Bug 1613718] [NEW] [SRU] Juju 2.0-beta15 for Xenial

2016-08-16 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
Public bug reported:

Juju 2.0 is not quite final, as per the risks and timeline outlined in
the FFe for Xenial, bug 1545913. As such, we intend to release SRU's
post-xenial release. This updates juju to the lastest 2.0 milestone
version.

[SRU Information]

juju-core has a stable release exception, including for major version
updates, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JujuUpdates.

[Impact]
This update brings many critical fixes and enhancements in comparison to the
current beta12 release.

A full list of targeted bugs can be seen against the milestone, and the
intervening milestones:

https://launchpad.net/juju-core/+milestone/2.0-beta13
https://launchpad.net/juju-core/+milestone/2.0-beta14
https://launchpad.net/juju-core/+milestone/2.0-beta15

[QA/Testing]
Juju practices continuous integration and testing of the juju source tree. The
results for this release can be seen here.

http://reports.vapour.ws/releases/4233

In addition, juju has adt test coverage for all supported archs,
http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/j/juju-core/.

Finally, manual verification and testing of the package has been done
per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/JujuUpdates

[Bug 1612895] Re: Display freezes on 2nd+subsequent logins

2016-08-16 Thread Nathan Dorfman
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it's at least as bad with the
new kernel; maybe worse.

So first of all, "2nd login" doesn't reproduce the issue 100% reliably
after all. I tested one last time with kernel 4.4.0-31, and the same
exact problem occurred again, but on the 3rd, not 2nd login. I then
rebooted into the new kernel 4.8.0-040800rc2, and was able to reproduce
it, but it was after the 3rd *logout.* The machine froze on the black
console screen that normally appears just momentarily after the desktop
goes away but before the lightdm login screen reappears.

After eventually regaining control, I logged in again and the display
froze shortly before the desktop was completely drawn, more or less as
expected. Unfortunately, this time Ctrl+Alt+F1 had no effect after any
length of time. Having neglected to first install sshd, I had to hard
reset the machine after 30 minutes or so of waiting. I haven't had that
happen with the old kernel, but that could also just be luck.

By the way, is it possible this bug should be against Xorg instead? The
kernel version on my 14.04 installation is 4.4.0-34, or pretty close to
the 4.4.0-31 kernel I'm having issues with.

[Bug 1612895] Re: Display freezes on 2nd+subsequent logins

2016-08-16 Thread Nathan Dorfman
Forgot to mention: in the kern.log attached above, there are some new
messages with the 4.8.0-rc2 kernel that weren't present with 4.4.0-31:

Aug 15 18:47:06 panzer kernel: [  310.233191]

These appear numerous times, in addition to the 'vblank timed out'
messages and associated stack trace, which also appeared as before.

[Bug 1613698] Re: curl: Problem with chunked encoded data

2016-08-16 Thread Joe
** Description changed:

  curl in Ubuntu 14.0.4 suffers from a bug ("Problem (2) in the Chunked-
  Encoded data") introduced in curl 7.35.0

(https://github.com/curl/curl/commit/345891edba32312686e18d8ff185f4476b74e417).

  * https://curl.haxx.se/mail/lib-2014-02/0100.html
  * https://curl.haxx.se/mail/lib-2014-02/0108.html

  Googling for "Problem (2) in the Chunked-Encoded data" shows that this seems
to be a problem for other Ubuntu users, too. For example:
  *

  * https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=72131

  The issue was fixed in curl 7.36.0 with
  https://github.com/curl/curl/commit/0ab97ba0090f2609760c33000181f08757336a48

- If you applied that patch to curl in Ubuntu 14.04, I'm sure you'll make
- a lot of people happy - including me. Thanks!

[Bug 1613711] [NEW] nautilus draws line artefacts on screen background

2016-08-16 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

Nautilus 3.20 is having some issues drawing the background image in
yakkety (see attached screenshot of two screens, one above the other):

* On my laptop, it draws a grey vertical partial line from the top of
the screen to approximately three launcher icons height down (in the
screenshot, it is on the lower screen, although sometimes it appears on
the top screen). This line is drawn irrespective of which background is
chosen. I don't get this line in my yakkety VirtualBox VM, though.

* It draws a grey vertical line down the right-hand side of the screen,
unless you focus on the background by clicking on it, in which case the
line disappears. This happens both on my laptop and also in my yakkety
VirtualBox VM.

* It is also doubling up icons for files in ~/Desktop (eg in the
attached screenshot you can see "kernel bugs" etc are displayed twice).
Only one of the two file icons responds to mouse clicks, though.

If I kill nautilus the artefacts go away, which is why I assume it's a
nautilus issue, along with the fact it only started happening since
nautilus 3.20 got installed.

[Bug 1613698] [NEW] curl: Problem with chunked encoded data

2016-08-16 Thread Joe
Public bug reported:

curl in Ubuntu 14.0.4 suffers from a bug ("Problem (2) in the Chunked-
Encoded data") introduced in curl 7.35.0
(https://github.com/curl/curl/commit/345891edba32312686e18d8ff185f4476b74e417).

See the corresponding thread on the curl mailing list:
* https://curl.haxx.se/mail/lib-2014-02/0100.html
* https://curl.haxx.se/mail/lib-2014-02/0108.html

Googling for "Problem (2) in the Chunked-Encoded data" shows that this seems to
be a problem for other Ubuntu users, too. For example:
*
https://github.com/jackalope/jackalope-jackrabbit/issues/89#issuecomment-55084492
*
https://www.mastizada.com/blog/chunked-encoded-data-error-in-php-curl-requests/
* https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=72131

The issue was fixed in curl 7.36.0 with
https://github.com/curl/curl/commit/0ab97ba0090f2609760c33000181f08757336a48

If you applied that patch to curl in Ubuntu 14.04, I'm sure you'll make
a lot of people happy - including me. Thanks!

[Bug 1607823] Re: Cellular connection drops out

2016-08-16 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
@jibel, thanks for the logs. The sequence of registration events that I
see is:

D/AT  ( 2080): AT< +CREG: 1,"0C94","07EEF3DF",2,0,0
D/AT  ( 2080): AT< +CREG: 3,"0D16","0540FD26",2,0,0
D/AT  ( 2080): AT< +CREG: 1,"0D16","0540FD27",2,0,0

Apparently the phone tries to register to cell 0540FD26 and it gets
registration denied (state=3). It recovers then registration (state=1)
after moving to cell 0540FD27.

What is weird is that the LAC is the same for both cells (0D16). This
implies that both cells belong to the same network, and therefore if the
device can register to one of them it should be able to do the same with
the other one. As that does not happen, this points to a modem FW error
or maybe that some tuning on modem parameters is needed on our side.

[Bug 1169463] Re: duplicity fails with message: UnsupportedBackendScheme: scheme not supported in url

2016-08-16 Thread Phill
Confirmed in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Package `python-paramiko` must still be
installed separately. If it's an optional plug-in then maybe having some
`duplicity-` dummy packages would be useful with better error
messages telling you what to install.

[Bug 1611037] Re: Geolocation in firefox doesn't work anymore

2016-08-16 Thread Clément de l'Hamaide
Being the maintainer of a web application using the geolocation API I
confirm that geolocation won't work anymore since begin of July.

The workaround from Éric Piel works fine.

Hoping Google will accepts higher quota, geolocation API is more and
more implemented everywhere on the web, we need a long term solution
where quota should not be a problem.

[Bug 1613677] [NEW] Package GCE's compute-image-packages

2016-08-16 Thread Dan Watkins
Public bug reported:

Google provides daemons to run inside Google Compute Engine instances.
The upstream git repo for these is [0]. These are currently packaged
and released in to partner as gce-utils[1]. They are built in to cloud
images from this location.

Upstream have recently reorganised things in a way that is incompatible
with older versions, and asked us to package these separately (as there
is no upgrade path between the two). This seemed like an ideal
opportunity to move away from using partner to the proper archive.

[Bug 1613670] [NEW] Webview turns white after clicking on it

2016-08-16 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Public bug reported:

This happens on yakkety with unity7 (xcb).

1) Go to System Settings -> Online Accounts
2) Choose "Add account"
3) Choose Google, Facebook, Evernote or any web-base providers
4) Wait for the page to load
5) Click anywhere on the page (even clicking on a scrollbar triggers this
behaviour)

After step 5, the webview will turn white, and apparently stop responding.
When running signon-ui with logging enabled, one can see several warnings
coming from Oxide:

[Bug 1613667] [NEW] scope swiping does not work with BT touchpad

2016-08-16 Thread Victor gonzalez
Public bug reported:

Enviroment:

current build number: 169
device name: frieza
channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/bq-aquaris-pd.en
last update: 2016-08-16 10:23:29
version version: 169
version ubuntu: 20160816
version device: 20160809.0
version custom: 20160805--42-20-vivid

Product: BQ M10 FHD
Preconditions: Pair a BT keyboard with touchpad. This way you could swipe among
scopes with a two finger swipe gesture

Steps to reproduce:

1º Pair BT keyboard with touchpad
2º Go to scopes dashboard
3º Try the two finger swipe among all scopes
4º Check that scopes just allow the user to change between the 1t and 2nd scope
with this touchpad gesture, seems like scopes do not recognize this gesture
further than the 2nd scope

Time stamp: 12:30

Current result: Scope swiping gesture does not change further than 2nd
scope when working with BT touchpads. I even tried removing all scopes,
set again 2 and 3 scopes only and I get the same result, it is not able
to change to the 3rd scope with this gesture over the touchpad

Expected result: Scope swiping gesture should allow the user to change
among every scope

[Bug 1591411] Re: systemd-logind must be restarted every ~1000 SSH logins to prevent a ~25 second delay

2016-08-16 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Ok, with everyone confirming that the systemd patch is not required, I
am closing the systemd part of the bug as 'Invalid' - let's only
concentrate on the dbus part here. That being said, I would not like to
release a new patch for dbus downstream if the patch hasn't been fully
reviewed and approved upstream.

In this case I would propose to wait a bit and see if a finalized patch
will be available.

[Bug 1579834] Re: update-apt-xapian-index-dbus fails because of wrong import

2016-08-16 Thread Harald Sitter
Also confirmed working with 0.47ubuntu8.3

- sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt-xapian-index/
- sudo /usr/share/apt-xapian-index/update-apt-xapian-index-dbus
- qdbus --system org.debian.AptXapianIndex /
org.debian.AptXapianIndex.update_async true true

correctly generates xapian index without dbus helper falling over dead.

[Bug 1613658] [NEW] OPENSSL_init_library () crash in conjunction with faketime

2016-08-16 Thread hbadger
Public bug reported:

Program that use library openssl will crash when they are run in
"faketime" (in the tool that sets system date to certain faked
time/date).

Impact: this bug makes it impossible to do deterministic build of
application using for example cmake and faketime.

Also according to https://github.com/wolfcw/libfaketime/issues/93
This is not a bug of libfaketime or cmake. This bug comes from openssl library.

Reproduce example:
$ REFERENCE_DATETIME="2016-08-05 00:00:00"
$ export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/faketime/libfaketime.so.1
$ export FAKETIME=$REFERENCE_DATETIME
$ cmake . --> Segmentation fault (core dumped) ## Even with empty
CMakeLists.txt file

($gdb cmake .) output:

[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
Using host libthread_db library "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1".

[Bug 1596524] Re: /usr/bin/webbrowser-app:11:QScopedPointer:qGetPtrHelper:QOpenGLContext::d_func:QOpenGLContext::functions:QSGDefaultLayer::invalidated

2016-08-16 Thread Olivier Tilloy
@Gerry: I’ve just tested on a device with the latest rc-proposed (which
contains version 0.63+15.04.20160809-0ubuntu1 of qtubuntu, which
supposedly has the changes you’re mentioning), and I’m still seeing the
crash. So it doesn’t appear to improve this specific issue.

[Bug 1613121] Re: Fcitx does open when selected from menu

Could you clarify what do you mean by "open when selected from menu"?
Fcitx itself is a daemon program that lives in desktop sessions (started
by im-config), which would not need to be started by clicking the
desktop menu.

[Bug 1613643] [NEW] Legitimation request starts with disabled password field

2016-08-16 Thread dronus
Public bug reported:

After upgrading Ubuntu from 14.04.3 to 16.04.1, every legitimation
request (eg. from update-manager) shows a greyed-out password box.

However, if I use the user dropdown to switch to another user, the
password field gets enabled. It stays enabled if I switch back to my own
user. I can enter the password then and it is accepted as intended.

Hint: As I use a gnome-flashback session, the bug may have to do with focus
management. I noticed that the legitimation request password box is greyed out
if the window openes without focus.

[Bug 1613639] [NEW] apt-add-repository exits 0 even if it can't retrieve key

2016-08-16 Thread Matthew Mosesohn

Example command:
$ sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:ansible/ansible
gpg: keyring `/tmp/tmp_h1uhhzk/secring.gpg' created
gpg: keyring `/tmp/tmp_h1uhhzk/pubring.gpg' created
gpg: requesting key 7BB9C367 from hkp server keyserver.ubuntu.com
gpgkeys: key 6125E2A8C77F2818FB7BD15B93C4A3FD7BB9C367 can't be retrieved

gpg: Total number processed: 0
gpg: keyserver communications error: keyserver helper general error
gpg: keyserver communications error: unknown pubkey algorithm
gpg: keyserver receive failed: unknown pubkey algorithm
$ echo $?

The command should exit nonzero if any step was unable to be completed.
Ideally, Ubuntu's keyserver won't fail, but that can't be helped.

Same issue here over the same distribuition Ubuntu-GNOME 16.04 LTS

unusable after several hours of idling. This happens all the times and
looking through the System Monitor, gnome-settings-daemon is using up to
5 GB of RAM. I'll try to collect more info with Valgrind if i can.
