[Bug 1643719] Re: ACPI AE_NOT_FOUND errors aggressively being spawned, filling up log files.
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected xenial ** Description changed: OS: Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS - Ubuntu 4.4.0-47.68-generic 4.4.24 Motherboard: ASRock Z170M Pro4S GPU: Asus Nvidia GTX 770 with 367.57 drivers Storage: Corsair 256 GB SSD, Toshiba 3 TB HDD, Hitachi 2 TB HDD Here's a small sample of the errors: http://pastebin.com/b2Jv8z37 While these errors definitely have a purpose, these error messages are created far too quickly, and this causes severe problems on my system at least, the logs become bloated with these messages, completely filling my root partition, preventing me from using my system. I believe that anyone else who is able to trigger these messages at such a high rate will have the same problem. Based on the amount of messages and the time given for each, it appears that this error message appears approximately 1000 times per second (on my system), creating 3000 lines per second or ~40 bytes per second (on my system). This fills up about 1.4 GB per hour (on my system) which fills up my root partition in less than a day. Once my root partition is filled, my system becomes unusable. My preferred solution to this issue is to limit the rate at which these messages appear. A limit of one error message per second seems like a good idea. - Also, I tried reporting this to the Linux kernel devs, I'm not exactly - sure if either of these places is the right place but hopefully somebody - will be able to fix this issue. [Bug 1623256] Re: adjust the way to create dbgsym packages like Debian does
This is the more invasive approach which by and large works with current dpkg. The main inconvenience is that by specifying the file name instead of output dir debhelper now has to divine the full file name and thus parse DEBIAN/control. IIRC this patch does not yet work, but it should be close. But again it also does not yet parse /CurrentlyBuilding for determining whether or not to enable ddebs, until Launchpad sets DH_BUILD_DDEBS. ** Patch added: "(concept patch) make debhelper spit out ddebs" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debhelper/+bug/1623256/+attachment/4784369/+files/debhelper.ddebs.debdiff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1623256 Title: adjust the way to create dbgsym packages like Debian does To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/1623256/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1623256] Re: adjust the way to create dbgsym packages like Debian does
A few weeks back I was experimenting with two approaches, but now I don't seem to find enough time to get back to this. So for posterity, this is the naïve approach that just sets -DPackage-Type=ddeb. However, dpkg does not actually respect that for this case, so this has no effect. Adam said that he'd like to fix this in dpkg proper though. (Note that this patch does not do any parsing of /CurrentlyBuilding which we will need for some transition period). ** Patch added: "(concept patch) set Package-Type=ddeb" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debhelper/+bug/1623256/+attachment/4784368/+files/debhelper.package-type.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1623256 Title: adjust the way to create dbgsym packages like Debian does To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/1623256/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1641238] Re: as a reverse proxy, a 100 continue response is sent prematurely when a request contains expects: 100-continue
Hi Robie, The specific need is that www.jujucharms.com uses apache2 as a reverse proxy to charmstore. The upload of resources and charms is suboptimal without 100-continue support. While investigating adding 100-continue support, we ran into this bug. As for a general need for this to be fixed in Ubuntu, I know of none, other than correctly supporting 100-continue in http reverse proxies. Only Ubuntu users using mod_proxy_http to reverse proxy a service which implements 100-continue are impacted by this problem. There must not be any. I'm honestly surprised that this bug has existed for so long. I am working with upstream to get this or a similar patch applied. I'll continue doing so. [Bug 1176046] Re: isc-dhcp dhclient listens on extra random ports
So long story short, starting with Xenial you have the possibility to install "isc-dhcp-client" which doesn't include the 2 extra port bindings, but if you need it for Dynamic DNS (DDNS) you can optionally install "isc-dhcp-client-ddns". On Trusty, "isc-dhcp-client" combine both. Regarding this statement: > It seems like "pcs cluster auth" should exit with an error message if it can't generate a tokens file. I do agree with this statement. Tested latest version upstream and it doesn´t generate any error message also. We can open a bug upstream and monitor.
On Trusty, "isc-dhcp-client" combine both, and AFAIK, I don't think the SRU process will allow the source package to be re-designed just like Xenial to add this new binary package "isc-dhcp-client-ddns" in Trusty archive, since this according to me falls under a feature request more than fixing a bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176046 Title: isc-dhcp dhclient listens on extra random ports To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/1176046/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1616469] Re: Languages do not always switch to "Japanese (Anthy)" properly when using top-bar switcher or keyboard shortcut
Also, I am now running Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with GNOME 3.22 and still have this behaviour. ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I have recently noticed that when switching from languages such as "Russian" or "Arabic" to "Japanese (Anthy)", though seemingly never "English (UK)/(US)", that it doesn't properly switch and carries on typing whichever language it was that I was trying to change from. I have made a screencast of what I experience (sorry that it's a little slow and has a few issues such as where I accidentally brought up the find feature in gedit, twice): Strange_Anthy_Language_Switching_Bug.mp4 And as said in my comment update: I have now also noticed that if I use the LeftShift+RightShift keyboard shortcut to switch between "English (UK)", "Russian", and "Japanese (Anthy)" that it switches fine to "Russian", however when it is displayed as being set to "Japanese (Anthy)" in the top bar, it still types only in Russian as it does when it is set to the previous option of "Russian". Though pressing it again will return it to "English (UK)". It doesn't appear to matter which language is before or after it, it will just take the form of whatever language is before it when switching using the keyboard shortcut which is rather annoying. - I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20. [Bug 1645431] Re: [SRU] microrelease exception for src:php7.0 (7.0.12)
** Description changed: - to be completed + There have been a number of microreleases of PHP 7.0 upstream since the + last update to Xenial (which corresponded to the merge in Yakkety). Ase + we have re-merged again in Zesty, it feels appropriate to provide + another MRE update to php7.0. A number of critical security and bug- + fixes are present in each 7.0.x. Rather than backporting individual + patches (e.g., Bug # 1569509), I believe it makes significantly more + sense to follow the upstream 7.0.x. Upstream PHP is demonstrating an + improved approach of bugfixes only in 7.0.x: + + - 7.0.13: http://php.net/ChangeLog-7.php + + The upstream CI is at: https://travis-ci.org/php/php-src and is run + regularly. + + Our php7.0 source package has autopkgtests for the 4 SAPIs, mod-php, + cgi, fpm and cli. We have also updated the packing to run the source + tests during the build itself. + + I do not believe there is a firm statement from upstream on API/ABI + stability, but the general approach seems to be a BC-break would result + in 7.1.0. ** Changed in: php7.0 (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => In Progress ** Summary changed: - [SRU] microrelease exception for src:php7.0 (7.0.12) + [SRU] microrelease exception for src:php7.0 (7.0.13) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1645431 Title: [SRU] microrelease exception for src:php7.0 (7.0.13) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php7.0/+bug/1645431/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1645449] [NEW] Linux perf regression in 4.4.0-42 and newer
Public bug reported: There is a regression in the 4.4.0-42 kernel update that is still present in the latest 4.4.0 update. I have verified that this appears in Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 14.04 (with ubuntu-xenial kernel installed) amd64. I also suspect this happens in default Ubuntu 16.10 kernel as well, but i have not tested. 4.4.0-38 did not have this issue. in 4.4.0-42 and newer, perf records incorrect timestamps which can be verified by running this command: $ perf record -a -e sched:sched_-k CLOCK_MONOTONIC switch stress -c 1 -t 10 stress: info: [25560] dispatching hogs: 1 cpu, 0 io, 0 vm, 0 hdd stress: info: [25560] successful run completed in 6s [ perf record: Woken up 16 times to write data ] Warning: 78487 out of order events recorded. Note that the warning about out of order events is a symptom of this problem and is not expected to happen. This does not happen(correct behavior) if i run 4.4.0-38 and older, or if i run a fully patched upstream 4.4.35 kernel instead. This regression has already been fixed upstream but has not been included in ubuntu-xenial kernel yet. Upstream fix is here: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git/commit/?id=78c7b55b362e868e529ab6579134708fcf5539dd ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1645449 Title: Linux perf regression in 4.4.0-42 and newer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1645449/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
