Canonical,

The patch has been accepted into mainline/4.9 [1].
Submitting to kernel-team mailing list a while ago, but not in the archives yet.

Updated netboot files (lpfc module) required.

[Bug 1649265] Re: "apt install phpmyadmin" does not work

2016-12-12 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1649265/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1588349] Re: Checking for updates never finishes on 3G when no updates available

2016-12-12 Thread Anupam
** Description changed:

If I'm using wi-fi and go to settings and then select updates, "Checking for
updates..." screen appears with a spinner for a few seconds; if there is any
update available it shows, otherwise informs about the unavailability of
updates.
But while using mobile data (3G/H) *if there is no update available*, it gets
stuck on the "Checking for updates..." screen and the spinner keeps spinning. I
waited as long as 10-15 minutes.
Note: If there is an update available then the behaviour is normal, i.e.
shows the available update(s) after a few seconds.
I'm seeing this behaviour from the very beginning (OTA-6 days).

  Related to bug #1528886
+
+ UPDATE: It's gotten weirder after the introduction of the new update
+ panel in OTA-13. When there is an update available, it keeps on
+ "Checking for updates..." along with the list of available updates:

Re: [Bug 1583849] Re: Firefox > 44 is broken on all big-endian architectures

2016-12-12 Thread Fritz Hudnut
I just updated/graded my PPC units yesterday, didn't look too closely over
the whole list, it was large, 60 packages plus a kernel. Obviously since
this bug was posted FF was repaired, but, we know that the various ubuntu
distros are phasing PPC out . . . the browser is what needs the most
maintenance.

Don't know if it's possible to find a distro that is going to continue to
support PPC and get the FF package from there?? Most everybody uses
Debian, but the plan is for them to drop PPC as well. Personally my PPC
computers are RAM challenged, as well as cpu challenged and my use is
intermittent; I spent a few minutes checking another distro a couple days
ago, but the "server was down" for downloads . . . after several tries I
moved on.

If I get a moment to boot my PPC computer I'll try to check what version of
FF I have; I definitely launched FF in both of them yesterday, and . . . it
worked, so did Qupzilla . . . .

[Bug 1630238] Re: [regression 4.8.0-14 -> 4.8.0-17] keyboard and touchscreen lost on Acer Chromebook R11

2016-12-12 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Again on my Ubuntu phone so can't test much but yes as seen in the diff
the 'y' was dropped between 14-17 in favor of 'm' which caused this bug.

Then sometime earlier a missing CONFIG parameter for touchscreen was
there, a separate problem, but after that got fixed everything (both
keyboard and touchscreen) worked up to 14.

[Bug 1637438] Re: Live Migration fails with error "operation failed: migration job: unexpectedly failed"

2016-12-12 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Ok, thanks a lot for the clarification lagarcia !
I assume the mass dump of new (actually old) data was just a bugproxy issue
then.

With that confirmed setting to invalid for now.

For what it is worth I'll keep the repetitive migrations in my test to
provide some extra coverage of this.

[Bug 1647400] Re: system freeze when swapping to encrypted swap partition

2016-12-12 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Hi, Mr. Bresser.

Thank you for your response.

Your testing of the kernel at
http://people.canonical.com/~cascardo/lp1647400/linux-
image-4.4.0-53-generic_4.4.0-53.74+lp1647400_s390x.deb would be very
much welcome.

In order to test it, you should install 16.04, then:

wget
http://people.canonical.com/~cascardo/lp1647400/linux-image-4.4.0-53-generic_4.4.0-53.74+lp1647400_s390x.deb
dpkg -i linux-image-4.4.0-53-generic_4.4.0-53.74+lp1647400_s390x.deb

After that, reboot, verify you are running the new kernel:

uname -a | grep 1647400

Then, run your tests.

Thank you very much.

[Bug 1649316] [NEW] Thunderbird unignores threads when archiving

2016-12-12 Thread José Luis González
Public bug reported:

If I archive an ignored thread message the thread gets unignored without
asking. Since ignored threads are the ones that you are not interested
in it makes sense to archive them just after ignoring, however once you
do that the thread is no longer ignored defeating the purpose of the
feature.

[Bug 1635988] Re: Update nautilus to 3.22

2016-12-12 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  Notable new features and changes:
  - The view menu has been consolidated into a single "hamburger" menu with a
separate toggle in the toolbar to switch between icon and list view.
  - Batch renaming is integrated. Just select multiple files then Rename.
- - File compression and decompression is integrated.
+ - File compression and decompression is integrated. This adds a dependency on
gnome-autoar (approved MIR bug 1635991 )
  - Nautilus standardized its coding style. This means that every Ubuntu patch
had to be rebased.

  https://csorianognome.wordpress.com/2016/08/31/nautilus-3-22-news-changes/
  https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/tree/NEWS

nautilus 3.22 is in the GNOME3 Staging PPA (currently for yakkety only)

  To Do
  =
- - The integrated compression feature requires gnome-autoar to be promoted to
main ( bug 1635991 )
-
- - The interactive-search feature drops the first character typed. To
- select the Downloads folder, I have to type 'ddow' instead of just
- 'dow'. The first 'd' opens the interactive-search edit field.
+ - The interactive-search feature drops the first character typed. To select
the Downloads folder, I have to type 'ddow' instead of just 'dow'. The first
'd' opens the interactive-search edit field.

  - 0001-Respect-gtk-dialogs-use-header-for-all-dialogs.patch needs to be
updated. Currently, GNOME header bars are still used in these cases:
  + Batch Rename dialog
  + New Folder dialog

  - The "New Document" feature patch needs to be rewritten but this also
affects Nautilus 3.20 in Ubuntu 16.10 "yakkety" (bug 1632027 )

[Bug 1422011] Re: CA.pl does not use CA_default dir in openssl.cnf correctly

2016-12-12 Thread Ian Gibbs
Here's the workaround I use for this.

 * Set everything apart from dir in openssl.conf
 * Create the CA
 * Rename the folder
 * Set dir to what you named the folder.

All subsequent operations like generating keys, signing certs etc. work
fine. It's just the initial CA generation that doesn't.

[Bug 1649313] [NEW] mediascanner not working

2016-12-12 Thread Victor gonzalez
Public bug reported:

Story: looks like this is a well known bug but there wasn't a bug report
yet so I'm opening it. Mediascanner doesn't work in frieza_arm64 so
files in sdcards aren't detected.

Environment:

current build number: 99
device name: frieza_arm64
channel: ubuntu-touch/staging/ubuntu
last update: 2016-12-12 12:21:18
version version: 99
version ubuntu: 20161210
version device: 20161014.0
version custom: 20161210

Steps:

1º Put some media files(songs, videos) on a sdcard
2º Install the sdcard in frieza
3º Open music app or music/video scopes

Current result: music app reports no songs were found and music/video
scopes don't show the media files either

[Bug 1649310] [NEW] RM Upstart, obsolete, superseeded by systemd

2016-12-12 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

In 18.04 LTS src:upstart should not be part of Ubuntu.
It has already been removed from Debian.
And most products have migrated to systemd.
This is a tracking bug to remove a collection of packages that need to go away
together with upstart.

Some of these have been ported to systemd under different names, or no
longer at all required.

** Affects: upstart (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1176046] Re: isc-dhcp dhclient listens on extra random ports

2016-12-12 Thread Robie Basak
I don't follow. isc-dhcp-ddns in Xenial ships /sbin/dhclient and a dpkg-
divert in its prerm. I don't see how Breaks/Replaces is relevant. Are
you planning something different in Trusty?

Louis said: "...if isc-dhcp-ddns Breaks/Replaces isc-dhcp and Recommends
isc-dhcp-ddns...". isc-dhcp-ddns recommending isc-dhcp-ddns doesn't make
sense to me. Was this a typo? As I don't follow the Recommends plan, I
don't follow this statement.

Hi,

You can list the snapshots for a container by using:

lxc info trust1
Name: trust1
Remote: unix:/var/lib/lxd/unix.socket
Architecture: x86_64
Created: 2016/11/22 19:56 UTC
Status: Stopped
Type: persistent
Profiles: default
Snapshots:
  zest1 (taken at 2016/11/22 20:57 UTC) (stateless)

Would that work for you?

[Bug 1649304] [NEW] [SRU] newton nova-lxd 14.1.0 point release

2016-12-12 Thread Chuck Short

bugs since 14.0.0 release such as:

Test plan:

For all stable point releases, we perform regression testing by juju
deploying two openstack clouds, one against -proposed and one against
-updates, and we then run tempest integration smoke tests[1] to verify
those deployed clouds, and evaluate any differences in results.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected xenial

** Description changed:

Similar like Bug #1603719 or Bug #1604396 i got a "Permission denied"
when trying to access a NFS subshare from our NFSv4 Server.

I tried this under (K)ubuntu Trusty and Xenial and also with the ubuntu
based Mint Versions 17.3 Rosa an 18 Sarah.

Kernel Versions higher than 4.4.0-31 from offical Ubuntu Repository has the
problem.
Before 4.4.0-31 not. For safety reasons i used the linux-generic-lts-wily
meta package

The 4.4 mainline kernel also works without problem currently
  (4.4.37-040437-generic)

Our NFS server runs under FreeBSD 11, but same problems to the clients
with FreeBSD 10.3 and OmniOS r151018.

All NFS servers use ZFS as the filesystem and NFSv4 with kerberos for
sharing. For the basic structure we use also ZFS filesystems.

So my homefolder is located on the server under
  /apool/AIS/share/home/staff/fili/linux ... each level is a ZFS
filesystem. On the client nfs share /apool/AIS/share/home is mounted
under Similar Bug #1603719 or Bug #1604396 i got a "Permission denied"

[Bug 1648674] Re: xenial libertine package is uninstallable with libertine-manager-app installed

2016-12-12 Thread Ken VanDine
artmello ran into this the other day, he couldn't install libertine-
manager-app on his xenial+overlay desktop. I tracked it down to this
dependency issue. Not sure if it's right or not, perhaps he had
something else installed with a depends on libertine?
