[Bug 1717646] [NEW] Cannot start Previsat after installing via apt
Public bug reported: Situation: -- I have done a new/fresh install of Previsat on my Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit. When starting Previsat for the first time, it complains that the data folder does not exist, and points to a folder containing snapd in the path (see attachment). The error message informs that Previsat should be reinstalled (which I did, still same issue). After clicking on OK on the error message, the program crashes with a segfault. Starting it again shows an error message that the software is already running. Relaunching after that gets you back to the first error message, then the segfault, then error about already running. We're in some kind of loop ;( Temporary solution: --- I have solved this (temporarily) by symlinking the folder that Previsat looks at to the folder where the data was really installed on my machine: $ sudo ln -s /usr/share/Astropedia /var/lib/snapd/desktop/Astropedia Long-term solution: --- But the correct solution would be to have Previsat look at /usr/share/Astropedia instead of /var/lib/snapd/desktop/Astropedia (I find it peculiar that Previsat would be looking for something in a Snap folder, when it was installed via Apt and not Snap...) System information: --- $ uname -a Linux daguerre 4.4.0-93-generic #116-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 11 21:17:51 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Previsat version: 3.5.1.7+dfsg1-1 ** Affects: previsat (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "PrevisatCrash.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1717646/+attachment/4951071/+files/PrevisatCrash.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1717646 Title: Cannot start Previsat after installing via apt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/previsat/+bug/1717646/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1210280] Re: libgtop2 used by system monitor reporting incorrect number of processors for Ubuntu 13.10 vms on Hyper-V
libgtop2 2.32.0 included in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS has bumped the CPU number limit to 1024. [Bug 1717624] [NEW] Installer Crashed, again -- Have ran it over 10 times
Public bug reported: While installing, multiple times, the "Continue" button on almost every page starts out as un-clickable. Going back a page and then continuing to the next page usually solved that, however, I've had to run the installer multiple times. [Bug 1529469] Re: State of "Hide from menus" is not saved upon application restart
I can't really say this is a bug fix, as I'm not sure that this fixes the bug. But the repair for the symptom, the disheartening menu directories, can be fixed like this: In terminal: cd ~/.local/share/desktop-directories open the directories in your text editor, edit them to only have: [Desktop Entry] Version=1.0 Type=Directory Name=Action Icon=weather-storm obviously adjust the information for the menu you're working with. save and exit and you should find your missing directories back. the menu may act a little funny the first couple times opening after adjusting the file. sometimes only showing the directory you edited. but after a restart, the problem should be completely resolved ** Changed in: menulibre Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1529469 Title: State of "Hide from menus" is not saved upon application restart To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/menulibre/+bug/1529469/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1717568] Re: Hard Disk Drive Destruction Explosion Exploration
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment to this bug report it seems that there may be a problem with your hardware. I'd recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. Thanks and good luck! ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public ** Tags added: hardware-error -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1717568 Title: Hard Disk Drive Destruction Explosion Exploration To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1717568/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1559308] Re: Plugging HDMI screen in causes system hang
I have this problem running 16.04.3 with the kernel package and drivers from https://github.com/M-Bab/linux-kernel-amdgpu-binaries. Those binaries are the only solution that I've found to fixing the problem of the display going to a blank screen and won't "wake up". But when I try to use the HDMI port the screen goes blank and won't wake up and nothing gets displayed on the TV - I'm still able to ssh in from another PC and reboot the PC that's "frozen" but I don't get a login screen if I leave the HDMI cable plugged in. I have tried the oibaf and padoka repositories, also, but that hasn't solved the problem either. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1559308 Title: Plugging HDMI screen in causes system hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1559308/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1717598] Re: Traceback when passing user-data on GCE
Can we get the full cloud-init log and possible a tar of /var/lib/cloud? I upgraded an artful lxd container and ran the cloud-config you have via single which is working fine. The stack-trace looks like it may be related to how the user-data is passed in (as a mime-parthandler); so getting the metadata in the obj.pkl file of the instance may help understand what's going on. % lxc exec a1-test /bin/bash root@a1-test:~# cat /etc/issue Ubuntu Artful Aardvark (development branch) \n \l root@a1-test:~# apt-cache policy cloud-init cloud-init: Installed: 0.7.9-280-ge626966e-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.7.9-280-ge626966e-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.7.9-280-ge626966e-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status root@a1-test:~# cat test.yaml #cloud-config bootcmd: - touch /tmp/cloud-init-works root@a1-test:~# cloud-init --force --file=test.yaml single --name cc_bootcmd --frequency=always Cloud-init v. 0.7.9 running 'single' at Fri, 15 Sep 2017 22:10:19 +. [Bug 1676547] Re: No network connectivity after upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10
** Description changed: Impact -- When upgrading from Xenial (with all updates installed) to Yakkety/Zesty you will boot to a system without networking - sad! Test Case - 1) Boot a xenial desktop system 2) Ensure network-manager version 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 from -updates is installed 3) Upgrade to yakkety or zesty 3.5) Enable -proposed and download the new version of n-m "apt-get download network-manager" 4) Reboot 5) Observe you have no network If you install the version of network-manager from yakkety-proposed and then reboot you should have a network connection. 1) Boot a xenial desktop system. 2) ensure network-manager version 1.2.6-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 from -updates is installed. - 3) Install netplan, configure to set up static network on an ethernet device using netplan. + 3) Install nplan, configure to set up static network on an ethernet device using nplan. 4) Upgrade to yakkety or zesty 5) Reboot 6) Observe that your system is still being managed by networkd rather than NetworkManager. Regression Potential Any failure to manage ethernet or wireless devices after upgrade, or issues with the use of netplan in conjunction with NetworkManager should be investigated as potential regressions. For example, if after upgrading, ethernet devices are no longer managed, or if devices that should be explicitly ignored by NetworkManager due to existing user configuration are now managed, these would indicate a possible regression caused by this update. Original Description nplan was installed during the upgrade process but I had no network connectivity after upgrading. Apparently, no package wanted to manage my ethernet connection. [Bug 1691489] Re: fstab entries written by cloud-config may not be mounted
As far as I can tell, I don't think we can "delay" the fsck service due to how the systemd-fstab-generator works on /etc/fstab entries For entries with a no-zero value for fsck (6th column), then the generator will write out a .mount file that looks like this: ubuntu@ubuntu:/run/systemd/generator$ cat btrfs.mount # Automatically generated by systemd-fstab-generator [Unit] SourcePath=/etc/fstab Documentation=man:fstab(5) man:systemd-fstab-generator(8) Before=local-fs.target Requires=systemd-fsck@dev-disk-by\x2duuid-d8e33db0\x2d9a54\x2d11e7\x2dbd8f\x2d525400123456.service After=systemd-fsck@dev-disk-by\x2duuid-d8e33db0\x2d9a54\x2d11e7\x2dbd8f\x2d525400123456.service [Mount] What=/dev/disk/by-uuid/d8e33db0-9a54-11e7-bd8f-525400123456 Where=/btrfs Type=btrfs This will want to run fsck on the device, and then mount it, and all *before* local-fs.target cloud-init cannot run until *after* local-fs.target is reached. Asking fsck service to run later is always going to be in-conflict with fsck+mount from the generator. I'm not sure we can reliably interrupt these services; the .mount unit is going to require a fsck; if we stop the fsck, then the mount won't happen. This is going to require some more thought and discussion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691489 Title: fstab entries written by cloud-config may not be mounted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/1691489/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1716068] Re: Gnome Shell crashes randomly
Thanks for the reply! I'm not quite sure how to find the bug ID for the report sent in comment #3. After running the "ubuntu-bug _usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash" command I saw a dialog asking to either "Examine Locally" or "Continue", the latter of which I clicked (with the "Send error report" checkbox marked). Nothing appeared on my screen after clicking "Continue" to give me a report ID. Did I do something wrong when reporting the bug? I ran "gnome-shell --replace" from the standard Gnome Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) immediately before running the Software Updater, and the "Segmentation Fault" error showed up in the Terminal window beside the Software Updater window at the time of the crash. As the errors only appeared in 16.04, 16.10 and 17.04 (which don't have Wayland) I was using Xorg in these cases. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1716068 Title: Gnome Shell crashes randomly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1716068/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
