[Bug 1734542] Re: Acpi support not set: throttling not working
** Description changed: I am seeing a throttling difference about 4.13.13 kernel: - the Artful kernel 4.13.0-18-generic, based on 4.13.13, does not manage the cpu frequency (neither all the previous ubuntu kernels) oem@zz64:~$ acpitool -c CPU type : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz Min/Max frequency : 800/3200 MHz Current frequency : 900 MHz (* but the topbar freq icon applet always show 3200 MHz*) Frequency governor : powersave Freq. scaling driver : intel_pstate Cache size : 3200.000 KB Bogomips : 6384.00 Bogomips : 6384.00 Bogomips : 6384.00 Bogomips : 6384.00 Function Show_CPU_Info : could not read directory /proc/acpi/processor/ Make sure your kernel has ACPI processor support enabled. This seems to be due to the missing /processor/ subdir: oem@zz64:~$ ls /proc/acpi/ wakeup - The same pc also have a bionic partition, where the 4.13.13 vanilla kernel perfectly manage the cpu dynamic frequency, so it is not related to the uefi settings in that case. + + Note: the comment above about the missing /processor/ subdir also apply + to the Bionic install; so it seems acpitool need in fact to be updated + as it try to read an outdated path. [Bug 1554806] Re: Change of behavior: "dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive" unconditionally overwrites /etc/timezone now
According to the upstream package maintainer in Debian (Aurelien Jarno), /etc/localtime is the authoritive source of information, while /etc/timezone is just a Debian-specific artifact. [Bug 1714989] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() from ffi_call_unix64()
@marco, should an extension be able to crash a gnome-shell session? This does not seem right, I'm sure it is not that simple, but if this by design then there should be a warning on gnome-extensions, or some information on next session startup (or disable them all). It took me a while to understand which extension was causing the problem. And while I disabled some that were described in this bug report, those were not causing it. For me it was dash-to-dock and now it one is triggered by low disk notification The only pattern I've detected is that it was always triggered by notifications. Anyway... i feel that this creates frustration and a bad user experience as I had to install an alternative environment for those critical moments where it has to work (and cannot afford to free space/disable extensions/debug) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714989 Title: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast() from st_label_set_text() from ffi_call_unix64() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1714989/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1464321] Re: No sound output through docking station headphones jack for Dell Latitude E5450
I have a Dell D630 Latitude laptop plugged into a Dell PR01X port replicator/dock station. I have been struggling with this problem, too. I solved my problem by changing the configuration in "Pulse Audio Volume Control" from "Analog Duplex" to "Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output + Analog Stereo Input". [Bug 1734567] [NEW] gnome-software memory usage climbing dramatically
Public bug reported: Found my pc running very slowly. Currently machine is swapping like mad. Highest users of RAM are chrome and gnome-software. I've closed chrome, and note that gnome-software is climbing at an alarming rate of hundreds of MB every few seconds. I don't even have the graphical store open, only the background service is doing this. Currently 5.7GB RAM consumed. This is the rate of growth every 5 seconds. $ while [[ 1 = 1 ]]; do ps aux | grep gnome-software | grep -v grep; sleep 5; done alan 8260 0.0 35.3 6889208 5764100 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:48 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 35.4 6889208 5773604 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:48 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 35.4 6889208 5783872 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:48 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 35.5 6889208 5794692 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:49 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 35.6 6954744 5807588 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:49 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 35.7 6954744 5826540 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:50 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 35.8 6954744 5850300 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:50 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 36.0 7020280 5875876 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:51 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 36.1 7020280 5902276 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:52 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 36.3 7020280 5929204 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:52 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 36.5 7085816 5957452 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:53 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 36.7 7085816 5986476 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:54 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 36.8 7151352 6004428 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:54 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 36.9 7151352 6031092 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:55 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 37.1 7151352 6056436 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:56 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service alan 8260 0.0 37.2 7216888 6080460 tty2 SLl+ Nov20 2:56 /usr/bin/gnome-software --gapplication-service ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10 Package: gnome-software 3.26.1-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-16.19-generic 4.13.4 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-16-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu3.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sun Nov 26 19:58:21 2017 InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-08-02 (116 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Alpha amd64 (20170712) InstalledPlugins: gnome-software-plugin-flatpak 3.26.1-0ubuntu2 gnome-software-plugin-limba N/A gnome-software-plugin-snap3.26.1-0ubuntu2 SourcePackage: gnome-software UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug artful -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734567 Title: gnome-software memory usage climbing dramatically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1734567/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have an issue, not sure it is the same bug but it started happening recently sometime after November 12th. HP Probook 6475b freezes when removing the AC. [Bug 1734512] [NEW] Ubuntu 17.10 freezing after plugging a second external monitor
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm using Dell Inspiron 15R 5520. With ubuntu 17.10 I tried to connect two external monitor using both VGA, HDMI ports. however as soon as I connect the second external monitor. The whole system is freezing, and I can't do anything except force restarting. I've installed windows 8 os, where I checked to use the two external monitors which worked fine. Except that I have to turn off the laptop's display. So that the no. of video outputs are only via two monitors VGA, HDMI. I tried to do similar in Ubuntu, tried to select single display and tried plugging in another monitor. But as soon as I plug in, the whole system is freezing. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu 17.10 freezing after plugging a second external monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
