[Bug 1754601] Re: openconnect has trouble maintaining a VPN connection

2018-03-23 Thread Michael Thayer
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

Some time after upgrading to Bionic, I have found that openconnect has
some trouble keeping a VPN connection open to our company VPN. Since
openconnect in Bionic seems to be based on the same upstream release as
in Artful I assume that the problem is more likely to be in the kernel,
and the timing of when it started could fit the kernel upgrade from 4.13
to 4.15.. I regularly see this in the output:

SSL read error: Error in the pull function.; reconnecting.
  SSL negotiation with
SSL connection failure: The operation timed out
  sleep 10s, remaining timeout 300s
  SSL negotiation with
SSL connection failure: The operation timed out
  sleep 20s, remaining timeout 290
  ...

Interestingly I just now saw it recover from that problem for the first
  time I am aware of.

I know that it would make sense to test it with the old kernel, and I
will try that some time (I don't reboot that often, and am not always on
VPN). In the mean time, I am creating this report in the hope that it
will ring some bell with someone.

Also doesnt sync in gnome global menu in the time/date menu.

[Bug 1758082] Re: [UIFe] Update ubiquity's Minimal Install page to match the spec

2018-03-23 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
Seems like a simple way to avoid the Kubuntu regression would be to use
new strings, rather than changed strings, for the minimal install radio
button.

Separately from the Kubuntu problem, this looks like an improvement,
thank you Jeremy. The only tweak I’d request is that while the radio
button labels correctly are not complete sentences, captions should
always be complete sentences with periods. (This is for consistency when
captions are sometimes two or more sentences, for example the third-
party software one.)

(BTW, neither nor
 gives “Not completely
fixed yet” as a definition of “Incomplete”.)

I've implemented proper versioned Provides support in germinate,
uploaded it to Debian unstable, and deployed it on pepo (ftpmaster) and
nusakan (cdimage). Once Launchpad's Debian import picks up the change
in unstable, I'll sync it to bionic which will close this bug.

[Bug 1758310] [NEW] Messagebox-look when manually configuring partitions with luks

2018-03-23 Thread Draget
Public bug reported:

Using the amd64 iso from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/18.04/beta-1/

Possibly unrelated but addition infos:
- Selecting 'Deutsch' as the language before booting the installer
- Selecting 'Expert' in the Options before booting
- Connecting to a Wifi during installation (Sidenote: Once I select the wifi in
the installer and enter the password in NetworkManager, there is *no* feedback
whatsoever if the connection succeeded. I just click 'Next' blindly. It would
be nice to have some feedback of the connection state there.)

The actual issue:
- When choosing the installation location I choose 'something different' to
manually edit partitions.
- Create a new partition table
- Create a crypt device in the free space
- Click on 'Reset'

-> First bug: the crypt device /dev/mapper/sda1_crypt is not reset and
stays configured. Going back and into the manual settings again does not
help.

- Remove the crypt partition from sda
- Create a new normal partition at the beginning of the disk (e.g. 200mb ext4
for /boot)
- Create a crypt device on the remaining free space

-> Messagebox appears that says creation of the crypt device failed.
Clicking it away makes it re-appear. Even if the first bug was fixed and
crypt devices can be cleanly removed/rest, failing to create the crypt
device should only show one message box and return to a usable state and
not get into a warning loop. (which might be triggered by some other
bug)

Verified on VBox and actual hardware.

Roger, you could use the Firefox Beta PPA until Firefox 60 is released
or you could make the symlinks yourself:

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps/firefox.png

should point to
/usr/lib/firefox/browser/chrome/icons/default/default64.png

for instance. Do the same for the 16, 32, and 48 sizes also.

[Bug 1758306] [NEW] Cannot switch mouse primary button in GCC

2018-03-23 Thread Stephen Allen
Public bug reported:

Prior to yesterday's Bionic update, I had my mouse configured for left handed
use. That is the mouse primary button being switched to the right. GCC doesn't
seem to work for this now. I don't know if it's related to evdev or what.
Held back reporting this in case it was fixed by changes overnight. Updated
this morning and problem persists.

[Bug 1705748] Re: Samsung SSD 960 EVO 500GB refused to change power state

2018-03-23 Thread Steve Roberts
I am not sure if I have done the correct thing, but following the
instructions above I have managed to install xenial-proposed kernel
4.13.0-38 on my Mint 18.2 XFCE system:

$ cat /proc/cmdline
BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-4.13.0-38-generic
root=UUID=f7ae652b-cbf6-48b8-bc6a-d3963957ab57 ro

I can confirm that APST is disabled by default, and no apparent issues
after several cycles of suspend and resume.

I can't see any option to add or change tags.

[Bug 1745945] Re: Kernel update makes HDMI unresponsive

2018-03-23 Thread federphi
Also affects me since update to 4.13.0-32.
Still using 4.13.0-31 (latest working)

I have missed 33-36, but since the problem is still there in 37 I fear
it's persistent.

Using a lenovo X230.

Added the output of lshw for both kernels. It is well visible that
several drivers are missing in 37. (HDMI, WIFI some USB) that are there
in 31.

[Bug 1758214] Re: The prime-select window becomes unresponsive during switch process

2018-03-23 Thread Alberto Milone
That is a known issue. I had code to add a progress bar, but it was
unfinished, so I preferred to simply restore the old behaviour for now.
The prime-select tool takes a while to complete.

[Bug 1756226] Re: nvidia-driver-390 fails to start GUI

2018-03-23 Thread Alberto Milone
Maybe X autoconfiguration is not helping. If you have multiple nvidia
GPUs, maybe try the following:

sudo nvidia-xconfig --multigpu=on

There are other options that you can try, for example, if you use SLI:

[Bug 1758163] Re: Please remove xchat-gnome from Ubuntu (again)

2018-03-23 Thread TingPing
xchat-gnome also never actually supported a gtk3 release. This package
was a git snapshot of the mid-transition to gtk3. It was half finished
and very broken. This package has multiple thousand line patches to try
and just get it working. The project is very dead, this is an Ubuntu
fork, it makes no sense to keep it around.

That is just a GNOME-Shell problem. The application makes a notification

[Bug 1715519] Re: bnx2x_attn_int_deasserted3:4323 MC assert!

2018-03-23 Thread Daniel Axtens
Hi,

As well as Po-Hsu's comment above, I also have this internal update from
the kernel team:

As this is also a security fix, don't stress too much. If things
could be verified for at least for one of the kernels until next week
that is better than nothing. We are rather unlikely rip out fixes if
they have a CVE (and do not appear to regress other things)

(FYI, this issue is covered by CVE-2018-126.)

So, just to confirm, in order of priority:

 1) First confirm there are no new regressions (just a quick 'smoke
test') on the 3 kernels.

 2) Second, do a full test of 1 of the kernels.

 3) Test the remaining 2 kernels.

Please keep this bug updated as you go through each step.

Hopefully this helps reduce the pressure for you!

Regards,
Daniel

[Bug 1715519] Re: bnx2x_attn_int_deasserted3:4323 MC assert!

2018-03-23 Thread Stefan Bader
In addition to what Po-Hsu Lin and Daniel Axtens said, to have each of
the kernels test-booted and checked for obvious regressions would be
great and if in addition one of those can be tested for the reported
problem being fixed, then this is sufficient. But mainly this procedure
is to ensure we do not break things while trying to fix problems. And if
there is some regression it takes time to isolate the change and revert
it. Hence the urge to get reporter test as soon as possible.

No problems seen so far with 4.15.7-041507-generic either, after 25

[Bug 1755144] Re: No audio on vlc or videos sound or video files

2018-03-23 Thread John Rose
I've just tried reinstalling pulseaudio and currently installed related
packages. These packages were:
libpulse0, libpulsedsp, pulseaudio, pulseaudio-module-x11, pulseaudio-utils,
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth, gstreamer1.0-pulseaudio, libcanberra-pulse,
libpulse-dev, libpulse-mainloop-glib0, pavucontrol
I then keyed "pulseaudio -k" to restart the pulseaudio server.
But still no sound for mp3 file on vlc or totem.
I noticed that ~/,config directory is dated 8 December 2016 and files within it
all start with ab864167f47243bb9792e21472f7afc5- (except for cookie) and have
different modified dates but files
ab864167f47243bb9792e21472f7afc5-default-sink,
ab864167f47243bb9792e21472f7afc5-default-sink &
ab864167f47243bb9792e21472f7afc5-stream-volumes-tdb have modified dates of time
about when I did the "reinstall/pulseaudio -k"

[Bug 1758282] [NEW] [INTEL UBUNTU 18.04] RAID reshape hangs after OS reboot

2018-03-23 Thread Michał Żyłowski
Private bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create IMSM RAID container:
mdadm --create /dev/md/imsm0 --metadata=imsm --raid-devices=3 /dev/sde /dev/sdc
/dev/sdd --run
2. Create IMSM RAID volume:
mdadm --create /dev/md/r0d3s128h1_A --level=0 --chunk 128 --raid-devices=3
/dev/sde /dev/sdc /dev/sdd --run --assume-clean
3. Add disk to container:
mdadm --add /dev/md127 /dev/sdb
4. Invoke RAID grow:
export MDADM_EXPERIMENTAL=1;mdadm --grow /dev/md127 --raid-devices=4
5. By cat /proc/mdstat we will see status of the reshape.
Also systemd unit file has been created:

cat /etc/systemd/system/mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service
# This file is part of mdadm.
#
# mdadm is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it
# under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
# the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or
# (at your option) any later version.

[Unit]
Description=Manage MD Reshape on /dev/%I
DefaultDependencies=no

[Service]
ExecStart=/sbin/mdadm --grow --continue /dev/%I
#StandardInput=null
#StandardOutput=null
#StandardError=null
KillMode=none

And status of this service is:

● mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service - Manage MD Reshape on /dev/md127
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service;
static; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since Fri 2018-03-23 09:20:54 CET; 23s ago
 Main PID: 3364 (mdadm)
Tasks: 1 (limit: 37710)
   CGroup:
/system.slice/system-mdadm\x2dgrow\x2dcontinue.slice/mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service
   └─3364 /sbin/mdadm --grow --continue /dev/md127

6. Reboot the platform.

7. During OS booting I saw print:
[ 16.552076] md: reshape of RAID array md126

8. After successfully boot we can see hanging reshape process (by cat
/proc/mdstat).

And status of the service:
systemctl status mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service
● mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service - Manage MD Reshape on /dev/md127
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service;
static; vendor preset: enabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)

Possible workarounds:
a) systemctl restart mdadm-grow-continue@md127.service
or
b) mdadm --grow --continue /dev/md127

So the clue of the problem is in OS booting process and with correctly
starting mdadm-grow-continue service.
