[Bug 1822089] Re: Frequent (silent) USB disconnects with Dell TB16 dock
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I see something similar (but different) to bug 1766076 on a Dell 5530: - Using kernel 5.0.4 from UKUU (because current Ubuntu kernel suffers from other bugs that make this dock unusable) - BIOS 1.6.0 - TB16 dock with a single monitor on the display port, providing power, using native enumeration setting in the BIOS - Microsoft comfort curve keyboard, webcam, headset connected to dock USB ports - Wired ethernet via the dock. Keyboard stops responding frequently. There is no output in dmesg when this happens. If I later unplug the keyboard I see a disconnection message in dmesg and I can reconnect it to the same port. Sometimes it works for a day after this, other times it works for <60s. - Other devices disconnect too but the pattern is different. Much more - likely to see the disconnect under heavy load, such as webcam/headset - getting disconnected during a conference call. + Other devices disconnect too but the pattern is different. [Bug 1826252] [NEW] by-id/wwn symlinks for virtio-scsi and multipath-tools not present
Public bug reported: In vmtest, we use virtio-scsi controller with scsi-hd devices. When we supply them with a wwn property, 60-persistent-storage.rules will create a /dev/disk/by-id/wwn- to point to the disk with said property. In disco, we now include multipath-tools which brings in sg3-utils-udev which provides a 55-scsi-sg3_id.rules file which runs before 60 -persistent-storage.rules. In the sg3 rules, it uses sg_inq to extract values from the device. The result is that a virtio-scsi/scsi-hd device does not expose ID_WWN in the same way, and if no serial value is set on the device, sg3 rules will *create* and ID_SERIAL value from the device model and other attributes. This _prevents_ 60-persisten-storage.rules from running scsi_id which *does* find the the ID_WWN property on the scsi-hd. ** Affects: curtin Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: sg3-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: sg3-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: udev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826252 Title: by-id/wwn symlinks for virtio-scsi and multipath-tools not present To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/curtin/+bug/1826252/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1751588] Re: python3-sympy package should NOT recommend, but only suggest texlive-fonts-extra package
I shall not fix this bug for Debian, where I maintain the package. When I manage a system with scarse disk capabilities, I disallow the resolution of Recommends; if the package sympy was depending on texlive- fonts-extra, it would not be possible, but as it only recommends it, I can have sympy without the big package. [Bug 1768976] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 is overheating after upgrade from 16.04
UPDATE: Solved by disabling bluetooth in bios according to: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1028883/ubuntu-18-04-systemd-udevd-uses- high-cpu-conflict-with-wifi It is silent and cool now. Under the link you can find guys saying that this systemd-udevd 100% cpu usage is because of the dell bluetooth. Others might have similar issues with this. There is a probable solution here too if you want to use your bluetooth too. I didn't try it though. [Bug 1826151] Re: Can someone help me out and explain or point me in the right direction on how to check video drivers and see if my video card running okay
There was a good tool called jockey, but I don't know why it was removed and what replaced it. For you graphics card, you have 2 options: - Nouveau: Free opensource driver for nvidia cards - Proprietary driver from Nvidia I recommend you use the proprietary driver for maximum performance. For better compatibility and integration, use nouveau the opensource one. To check if the proprietary driver is installed run: ubuntu-drivers debug at the bottom it will list each compatible proprietary driver and whether it's installed or not. Other tools that may help you: nvidia-smi nvidia-settings glxinfo | egrep "OpenGL vendor|OpenGL renderer*" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826151 Title: Can someone help me out and explain or point me in the right direction on how to check video drivers and see if my video card running okay To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1826151/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1826051] Re: VMs go to 100% CPU after live migration from Trusty to Bionic
Hi Christian, Yeah it's an unfortunate and annoying issue I can't figure out :-( So it's the qemu process that goes to 100% after live migration, and the guest becomes unresponsive via VNC console and over the network. Libvirt seems fine, and the live migration appears to complete successfully as "virsh migrate --live" returned error code 0 and the VM shows as "running" in virsh list. I have attached the "virsh dumpxml" output from a different dead VM along with the pidstat and strace output. I can run "perf" if you let me know what options you need. Thanks for your help, Corey Melanson ** Attachment added: "pidstat" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1826051/+attachment/5258678/+files/pidstat.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826051 Title: VMs go to 100% CPU after live migration from Trusty to Bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1826051/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1734095] Re: Software & Updates not showing authorization popup [gnome-shell[N]: pushModal: invocation of begin_modal failed]
It doesn't seem to be to do with user settings as I have tried making a new user and it fails for that user also. I can also confirm that it is ok on Wayland, which is not surprising. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734095 Title: Software & Updates not showing authorization popup [gnome-shell[N]: pushModal: invocation of begin_modal failed] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell-legacy-bugs/+bug/1734095/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
