[Bug 1826628] [NEW] Lubuntu fails to install when disk/RAM sizes equal minimum requirements

2019-04-26 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Public bug reported:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
 1. Create a virtual machine with a 8GiB disk and/or with 0.5GiB RAM.
 2. Boot Lubuntu installation media to the virtual machine.
 3. Run the installer.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Installation proceeds normally.

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
The installation fails to proceed at the welcome screen with the error message
"There is not enough drive space. At least 8 GB is required" or "The system
does not have enough working memory. At least 0.5 GB is required," respetively.

WORKAROUND
Edit /etc/calamares/modules/welcome.conf and increase the value of
`requiredStorage` and/or `requiredRam` by 0.1.

AFFECTED VERSIONS
Lubuntu 18.10-19.04
calamares up to and including 3.2.4-0ubuntu3

NOTES
The code actually does the math with binary units (e.g. GiB), but erroneously
reports back with decimal prefixes (e.g. GB).

[Bug 1168115] Re: Ubiquity does not support LUKS in manual partitioning mode

2019-04-26 Thread clickwir
Still a problem in 19.04. Made a /boot and / but / was on top of an
encrypted LUKS partition. One time, the system installed but never asked
for a password on boot. So I tried again and it wouldn't even install.

IF this actually works, it's very fragile and I've yet to see it work.

On top of that, even if you don't use your own premade LUKS partition
and try using the one in the GUI installer, it never asks for a password
or options. So it never gathers enough data to even have a chance of
success.

And honestly, saying "There is not enough information here to understand or
reproduce the problem." ... did you try? Because it's pretty simple to do so
and see the gaping holes where it doesn't even come close to working. I
appreciate you want more info, but at some point you have to try it yourself
and I think if you give it any effort you'd see multiple issues.

My guess is that no one has even tested it internally yet.

[Bug 606365]

2019-04-26 Thread Psychonaut

>

I'm now using plasma-nm 5.12.8. This version has the same behaviour as
described for plasma-nm 5.12.6 in Comment 13: attempting to import an
.ovpn file with inline certificates and keys results in a spurious error
dialog, but the keys and certificates get successfully copied anyway.

I also tried using nmcli. This seems to work without any problems:

$ nmcli connection import type openvpn file ~/vpn/ukp-vpn.ovpn
Connection 'ukp-vpn' (c6cbabfe-f117-4af9-aca5-be9e8c88595c) successfully added.

When I open the NetworkManager plasma applet after doing this, I see the
VPN connection listed there, with the keys and certificates copied into
separate files under ~/.cert/nm-openvpn.

I used that too but the touchpad didn't work on Kubuntu 19.04. I had
just reinstalled xserver-xorg-input-synaptics package then did a reboot
and it works now. The touchpad has now more options in the system
settings for example sensitivity. This is a clear improvement. My
notebook is faster maybe but I'm not sure. Is there any fact, dmesg
message, anything that proves this is better?

[Bug 1826209] Re: gnucash settings unusable

2019-04-26 Thread gregrwm
it seems likely there may be packaging or integration problems here, tho
this bug emerges on multiple highly popular distributions.

how should things get arranged so that installing gnucash with apt-get
(or yum) would pull in the libraries it needs?

and meanwhile as a workaround i would be grateful for hints as to what
packages to install to get gnucash settings functional.

i am installing gnucash, twm, xterm, and either vnc server or X or both.

i have installed these on centos6 (gnucash-2.4.15-4.el6.x86_64), xenial
(gnucash 1:2.6.12-1), and bionic (gnucash 1:2.6.19-1). in all 3,
gnucash does not crash, and is minimally usable, but lacks the ability
to adjust any settings.

i have also filed http://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=689849

I had libgegl-0.4-0 from Otto's PPA that was claiming to be newer than

[Bug 1826403] Re: Ethernet won't connect when cable is plugged in at boot

2019-04-26 Thread Markus Birth
I have this, too, on a Raspberry Pi 3 with arm64 Ubuntu. However, I've
also upgraded my Raspberry Pi 2 with armhf and there, NetworkManager
still autoconnects just fine after boot. The configuration looks
identical on both machines.

[Bug 1818905] Re: Store screenshots to the org.gnome.gnome-screenshot auto-save-directory directory, if defined

2019-04-26 Thread Michael Aaron Murphy
Updating this to state that GNOME has yet to make a decision on how to
approach this, but whatever decision they make will not consist of
sharing an application-specific variable with GDM.

They seem to be hinting that they will create a global variable that
applications can use, but they've yet to make a decisions on where or
how they want it implemented. Still waiting for feedback on the
implementation specifics.

[Bug 1316402] Re: OpenGL ES 2 support

2019-04-26 Thread Daniel Schürmann
The first step was done here:
https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/pull/2088

With QT5 the QT waveforms and Spinnies are already GLES if such a renderer is
used.
I think we can easily turn the software waveform into GLES by putting the code
int a QGlWidget like the Qt types.

[Bug 1335492]

2019-04-26 Thread Alexxcons-x
Created attachment 8463
patch to add symlink to the latest working config, used as fallback

(In reply to Underpass from comment #119)
> Any chance to have it solved in version 4.14?

Here we go.

One concrete problem is, that opening the setting menu of the panel will add
one extra pixel to the panel(some border showing the focus). That will change
the size of space available for xfdesktop.
If the desktop is saved now, it will be e.g. saved as icons.screen0-1366x701.rc

After a logout + relogin the panel will not have this extra-pixel. So
xfdesktop searches for icons.screen0-1366x700.rc ... possibly does not
exist --> Fallback to just place all icons in a line.

The attached patch will always create a symlink "icons.screen.last.rc"
on save, pointing to the current *.rc file, whenever a new .rc file is
written.

This fix cures the symptoms. IMO should be fine for 4.14 .. however
later on I would start to work on the actual problem, which is, that
xfdesktop does not use the whole screen, but only the workarea.
(Another logical error is, that the icon size is not saved in the .rc
file, together with the grid, but somewhere else, independently)

[Bug 1825049] Re: dnsimple adapter produces invalid URL in create_record

2019-04-26 Thread Adrien Ferrand
I am a maintainer of the Lexicon project, and want to propose a SRU for
Lexicon 2.2.1 on Bionic and Lexicon 2.7.0 on Cosmic to fix that issue.

[Impact]

 * Due to an undisclosed bug in Lexicon on the DNSimple provider, the creation
of new DNS records
on DNSimple is not possible anymore since one month.
 * This bug was present in Lexicon since 2.2.0, so it impacts Bionic and Cosmic.
 * Its effect is to generate an invalid URL for DNSimple API when trying to
create a new DNS record.
 * For unkown reasons, the invalid URL was still accepted by DNSimple API,
until something change
one month ago, and these URLs started to be rejected.

[Test Case]

 * To reproduce the bug one needs a valid DNSimple account, generates an
authentication token,
and calls this typical DNS record creation command:
`lexicon dnsimple create example.com TXT --name test --value content
--auth-token [TOKEN]` to
see Lexicon raising an exception about a malformed request.
 * Without a valid DNSimple account, one can still see the wrong behavior by
checking the VCRpy
   cassettes at tests/fixtures/cassettes/dnsimple/IntegrationTests: typical
malformed requests
   like `https://api.sandbox.dnsimple.com/v2762/` instead of
   `https://api.sandbox.dnsimple.com/v2/762/` can be seen.
 * Fix proposed here both makes the live execution of Lexicon be successful,
and make VCRpy have
   only valid URLs referenced.

[Regression Potential]

 * Besides the modifications done on the VCRpy cassettes, that are for test
purposes, the fix
modifies only one line in Lexicon code, to fix the URL in case of record
creation. Upstream
is already fixed, and correct behavior after it is confirmed at
   https://github.com/AnalogJ/lexicon/issues/387.
 * Fix is already applied to Disco.
 * So I have no possible regression in mind.

[Other Info]

 * Two separate debdiff are provided: one for Bionic, one for Cosmic. They have
been generated from
the latest respective docker OS versions.

[Bug 1826219] Re: Input locks frequently/high CPU usage after 18.10->19.04 upgrade

2019-04-26 Thread Paul Natsuo Kishimoto
Thanks! My searches before filing the bug suggested that the log
messages were symptoms, but I was unable to find any guideline on how to
diagnose further.

I've uninstalled gsconnect (both the Gnome extension, and the
accompanying Chrome extension), and fully rebooted. The locks still
occur.

Some extra information:

1. In trying to pin down the cause, I…
   - Uninstalled zeitgeist
   - Disabled tracker:
https://gist.github.com/vancluever/d34b41eb77e6d077887c#non-invasive-disable-cheat-sheet

Neither of these made a difference.

2. I also identified what seems to be a separate issue:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-
icons/+bug/1826604

3. Finally, I notice differences between the bug in the default 'Ubuntu'
session and the 'Ubuntu on Wayland' session. The initial bug report, above, was
from 'Ubuntu on Wayland'. In the default 'Ubuntu' session:
- The display and keyboard input lock, but the mouse cursor can still be moved.
- The 'Key repeat discarded' and 'libinput error' log messages do not occur.

Other symptoms (e.g. CPU usage spike for gnome-shell) are the same.

Confirming that this is still happening in later releases. I just
marked these as duplicates, but we can unmark them if the same

[Bug 1826604] [NEW] Extension causes saving files to desktop to be slow

2019-04-26 Thread Paul Natsuo Kishimoto
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:
1. Create a text file (foo.txt) on the desktop and open in gedit.
2. Type a few lines in the file and save it.

Expected: the file saves more or less instantly.

Observed:
- The file takes several seconds to save.
- The following lines appear in the journal:

Apr 26 22:20:40 khaeru-laptop gnome-shell[3205]: JS ERROR: TypeError: fileItem
is null

_updateDesktopIfChanged@/usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/desktop-icons@csoriano/desktopManager.js:339:17

_monitorDesktopFolder/<@/usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/desktop-icons@csoriano/desktopManager.js:299:89

Notes:
- Repeating #1 and #2 with a file that is in another folder (i.e., not on the
desktop), the file saves instantly, and the log messages do not appear.
- This might be a duplicate/alternate description of #1816205.
- Discovered while trying to diagnose #1826219.

[Bug 1826453] Re: Grub2 Booting in blind mode due to "invalid video mode specification `text'"

2019-04-26 Thread Dexuan Cui via ubuntu-bugs
I was not clear about the lifecycle of 16.04 and 14.04. :-)

AFAIK, there is no real need to fix the bug for 14.04.
And I understand it looks there won't be a 16.04.7, either.

Since the bug is already fixed in 18.04 (and newer? I didn't check
19.xx), it looks to me we can leave it as is for 16.04 and 14.04, and
mark the bug as WON'T FIX, if there is nothing we can really do for
16.04 and 14.04.
