[Bug 1888106] [NEW] calamares drive space map has grown (partition space shown twice, free & allocated)
Public bug reported: Lubuntu 20.04 groovy QA-test install TESTCASE: REPLACE PARTITION In this case the partition I'm replacing is sda3, on selecting it the current drive.space.map at the bottom of the calamares screen switches the partition to red (nice) in the CURRENT area. The partition being replaced is 27.6GB (hereafter just 27GB) ** Problem (What occurs) The other partitions are unaltered; but the AFTER map of drive.space.map now shows a 27GB space as free space, plus a 27GB space that will be utilized by new install. The picture implies I've gained 27GB of disk space?? ** Expected There should be no unused area in the AFTER drive.space.map This is a MINOR display issue. [Bug 1887610] Re: [SRU]There is no available audio entry in sound settings after execute suspend in 'Performance mode'
A pair of headphones was always plugged at the front. Now I connected speakers in the connector line on the back, and it works effectively. The front headphones also work with the speakers connected behind. Apparently it requires a connector put on the back. Thank you very much for your contribution, it has solved my problem. I planned to let you run "dmesg > dmesg.txt", then upload it to launchpad, but now no need to upload the dmesg. Your issue has nothing to do with this SRU, this SRU will update the pulseaudio to 1:13.99.1-1ubuntu3.5 while the version on your machine is ubuntu3.2lp1869819. And According to the log in the #15, there is no any problem: The output is null or dummy because all output device are unavailable at that moment: Default Sink: auto_null analog-output-lineout: LÃnea de salida (priority: 9000, latency offset: 0 usec, not available) Part of profile(s): output:analog-stereo, output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo analog-output-headphones: Auriculares analógicos (priority: 9900, latency offset: 0 usec, not available) Properties: device.icon_name = "audio-headphones" Part of profile(s): output:analog-stereo, output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo After you plugging in the headphone or lineout, the output device will not be null or dummy. [Bug 1887586] Re: pwmconfig generate wrong config when multiple fans are on same pwm
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The next step is to identify whether this bug is present in the upstream project, introduced in Debian packaging, or introduced in Ubuntu's modifications. If Ubuntu has not introduced the problem, we should get a bug filed in the appropriate upstream bug tracker. Are you able to help with this, please? [Bug 1888098] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 gnome-shell places windows on second screen when started from primary screen
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS gnome-shell: Geïnstalleerd: 3.36.3-1ubuntu1~20.04.2 What I expected to happen: When clicking a button on the primary screen to open a new window in any application, that window should always open on the same monitor. What happened instead: Gnome-shell in Ubuntu 20.04 insists on placing new windows on the secondary monitor. Why this is a problem: My setup are Point of Sale terminals and the primary (a touchscreen) and secondary monitors are back to back. When the cashier presses the payment type button, the payment type pop-up is opening on the secondary screen which is displayed to the customer and not accessible to the cashier who needs to complete the transaction. The cashier can't move the pop-up on their own as there is no keyboard access (all buttons needed are in the application it self), and the touchscreen touches on itself (most of the time). In the past I was able to fix this with devilspie. As this problem has been around since Ubuntu 10.04. Was fine in Unity and 16.04/18.04 gnome-shell. But now devilspie is ignored by gnome-shell in 20.04 and gnome-shell keeps opening all the windows on the secondary screen. I've tried various gnome extensions and gnome-tweaks but none of them will open all windows (except the customer display) on the primary monitor only. [Bug 1875148] Re: USB ports on Raspberry Pi are deactivated when connecting a Drobo unit
I have managed to work around this bug by doing the following: 1) Using James Chambers unofficial 64-bit build Moving to 64 bit gets things moving, but after a several minutes the host controller would eventually hangup on me. I can't help but wonder if some 32bit ints are being blown somewhere because of the big reported sizes 2) Add the quirk 'usb-storage.quirks=[yourdrivesVID]:[yourdrivesPID]:u' to cmdline.txt This limits DMA scatter-gather operations (new in Pi4) and seemes to help, but I've not been able to conclusively establish how 3) Connect the Drobo to the USB2 port rather than USB3 This (after the previous two steps) the finally kept the device mounted and working - kinda... 4) On another computer (I used a Mac with extFS added) repartition the drive to have a 16Tb partition (rather than the normal ~70Tb) I found that if the OS tried to address data above some big value (never did manage to tie it down), perhaps while partitioning(!), formatting or fsck-ing, it would hang-up. In my case I happen to have 15Tb currently loaded in my Drobo and so I tried a 16Tb partition, and that worked. 5) In cmdline.txt change 'fsck.mode=auto' to 'fsck.mode=force' I have found that the drive is always perceived as dirty and potentially corrupt (even though it isn't) on mount, so by forcing a fsck I ensure that the drive will be usable on boot (although this does mean that a reboot will make some functions unavailable for several hours. 6) Make sure that the mount options include 'nofail' and a good device-timeout, I use 'x-systemd.device-timeout=15' The nofail ensures boot can proceed even though the fsck will take hours to complete (I have set the services that need the drive to wait for the mount), and the timeout caters for a corner case. If it helps, my mount options in fstab are: 'rw,suid,dev,exec,auto,nouser,async,relatime,nofail,x-systemd.device-timeout=15' And there it is. A big Drobo workaround, stuck on USB2 speeds, constrained to fraction of potential capacity, and that takes several hours to become usable... but I've got a NAS that works. Obviously, this is far from ideal. I would love this to get fixed. Hopefully this has given some hints as to where to look, and helped others in the meantime. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875148 Title: USB ports on Raspberry Pi are deactivated when connecting a Drobo unit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1875148/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1888088] Re: [Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ARE05] Display won't rotate, nor do fractional scaling
** Description changed: Opening Settings -> Display and selecting an orientation other than Landscape doesn't work. Similarly, selecting Fractional Scaling and then picking a scale factor has no effect. This is a recently installed Ubuntu 20.04, fully updated, on a recently released laptop/tablet that uses an AMD Ryzen 4500U integrated CPU/GPU. It is possible that the GPU is not being detected by Ubuntu and that is the root cause of the problem. I couldn't find an easy explanation online about how to tell whether a GPU was detected or is in use. I did try running "tlp-stat -g" to get graphics status, but it returns without printing anything except its version number (1.3.1). When I choose an orientation, such as Portrait Right, the setting changes and an "Apply" button appears in the top of the Settings window. When I press it, up pops up a dialog asking whether I want to "Keep these display settings?" with two options, keep or revert. The rest of the screen goes grey behind the dialog box, but I can already see that the "Orientation" setting back in the Settings->Display window has been reverted to "Landscape" without me doing anything. Whether I choose keep or revert, or merely let it time out after 20 seconds, the result remains the same -- the display stays in Landscape mode and the setting that I had made is reverted. Regarding scaling, I can set the display scale to 100% (default) or 200%, successfully. When I turn on the "Fractional Scaling" slider, the graphics around the edge of the screen increase in size (the icons in the left-hand dock, the text in the top bar), but the Scale settings do not change (they remain "100%" and "200%"). However, if I switch to a different setting (for example, "Mouse & Touchpad") and then back to "Displays", the Scale settings have changed. I have included three screenshots (original screen, Fractional Scaling on, and after switching to and from Displays. When I attempt to set a fractional scale such as 125%, the "Apply" button appears in the upper right corner. When I press that, the display does not scale, a pop-up asks if I want to keep or revert the setting, but looking back at the Displays settings, the Scale has already reverted to 100% (as above with the Orientation). - The display has been rock-solid before this, but now it started showing artifacts, such as + The display has been rock-solid before this, but now it started showing artifacts, such as previous copies of the Displays window. I've enclosed a screen shot. Merely taking a screen shot also wiped out parts of the display to white; I took another shot to show that. Same behavior on two new motherboards (Asrock J4105M and Asrock J5005-ITX) with different RAM type and brand. All other peripherals removed and changed PSU (still crashed). Enabled kdump and got a dozen dumps, will attach some. Went from 5.4.0-40 to 5.4.0-29 and no crashes at all. [Bug 1888088] [NEW] [Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ARE05] Display won't rotate, nor do fractional scaling
Public bug reported: Opening Settings -> Display and selecting an orientation other than Landscape doesn't work. The display has been rock-solid before this, but now it started showing artifacts, such as previous copies of the Displays window. I've enclosed a screen shot. Merely taking a screen shot also wiped out parts of the display to white; I took another shot to show that. [Bug 1888068] Re: kernel tried to execute NX-protected page - exploit attempt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1888068/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. > the upgrade gives you a chance to see the details you want. You were prompted with these screens, including the obsolete software screen, correct? Correct. As I said, not good enough. > Please be more specific about the exact changes you would like to see. Again as I said: for every individual application that you are going to remove that I installed manually (as opposed to it being installed as a dependency), you have to show an individual popup screen with a very scary warning. THEN, if you want, there you can add a checkbox like "apply to all" or whatever, where I can choose to accept in bulk after reviewing a list. OR simply change the "remove obsolete packages" prompt to make it more scary, so I get the impression that I seriously need to review the list. However, if the number is actually in the order of 86, you need to make it smaller to begin with, one way or another. Otherwise, even if I start to look at the list seriously, chances are I'll end up missing something or saying "well, whatever". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887407 Title: Distribution upgrade uninstalled TortoiseHG without asking me To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1887407/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
