[Bug 1869796] Re: vague error during upgrade
The new code now handles sockets and services differently from libvirt packaging. There might also have been changes to the various debhelpers, but the TL;DR is that I no more see this issue with libvirt 6.6. I forgot a display signal doesn't include any alpha channel, so yeah 8 bpc will require less bandwidth than 10 bpc. The maximum capability of the monitor should be advertised in its EDID. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. On upgrading a service this service has to be restarted to pick up the fixes. Rather rarely a real issue occurs that the newer version does e.g. fail with the formerly working configuration. But most of the time what happens is, that a service was installed, but stays unconfigured or experimented with but left in a broken state. Now on any update of the related packages that service has to be restarted, but since its config is incomplete/faulty it fails to restart. Therefore the update of that package has to consider itself incomplete. Depending on your particular case there are two solutions: - either remove the offending package if you don't want to continue using it. - Or if you do want to keep it please fix the configuration so that re-starting the service will work. Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking this bug as Incomplete. If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community Or if you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New. ** Changed in: mysql-8.0 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890519 Title: package mysql-server-8.0 8.0.20-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: o subprocesso do pacote mysql-server-8.0, novo script pre-removal retornou erro do status de saída 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1890519/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

reply #20 yes, Daniel. Originally, the display would like to use 10 bpc. but it is failed with some dongle. However, we found that, it uses 8bit color depth on Windows. We wonder if Windows has done some magic for enhancing compatibilty. Maybe we can also discuss if we can have some implementation like export the bpc selection to gnome-control-center for user. Hello @pooja-9, @kphatak-pf9 and @vlee, You wouldn't happen to have Kernel Samepage Merging (KSM) enabled on your compute nodes would you? You can check by looking at the value of: $ cat /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/run If it is 1, your nodes have it enabled, and if it is 0 or "missing", you don't have it on. [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
@marco-carrarini In post #77, you suggested a workaround by modifying xorg.conf. Then in post #81, @vanvugt suggested the same outcome could be achieved with `xrandr --fb` or `xrandr --scale-from`. Finally, you responded in #82 with "Yes, but expect some glitches in apps." I'm not clear if your response to "expect some glitches" was only for @vanvugt's xrandr suggestion, or if the two workarounds are equivalent and to "expect some glitches" with either method. [Bug 1890230] Re: arm64 ipxe package isn't an arm64 build
@rafaeldtinoco Thanks for quickly responding to the bug. Our use case is booting real bare metal aarch64 servers from remote iSCSI volume[1]. Which uses iPXE's iSCSI boot functionality. The booting iPXE script looks as bellow: - :boot_iscsi imgfree set username xx set password xx set initiator-iqn iqn.2017-05.org.openstack.node-0 sanhook --drive 0x80 iscsi:10.30.96.1::3260:1:iqn.2010-10.org.openstack:volume-4e572bca-7845-44e9-b6b5-e7e27d18d1cc || goto fail_iscsi_retry - For the booting process, it will first use UEFI PXE to boot into ipxe.efi, then running the above booting script to boot from remote iSCSI volume. [Bug 1890436] Re: VGA signal is ghosted and stretched (Intel® HD Graphics 2500)
Yes I do understand why you might call that corruption. Actually you didn't need to enable DRM debugging. It looks like there are a few errors coming from the Intel kernel graphics driver 'i915'. Those might be separate to the FIFO underrun errors, which other people also report in bug 1550779. The problems reported in your kernel log seem to relate to atomic mode setting, which is what the 'modeset' Xorg driver uses. Wayland sessions don't use that interface to Intel graphics so it's likely that logging into 'Ubuntu on Wayland' will avoid some (or all) of the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890436 Title: VGA signal is ghosted and stretched (Intel® HD Graphics 2500) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1890436/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi Alex, My scripts run xdg-open http://localhost:something before starting the service as a time saver to setup my workspace. Did you already have the service running when you started it up? [Bug 1890725] Re: wacom tablet disturbs unity background, color scheme and keyboard shortcuts
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1890725/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Hi Jorge, Thanks for tracking this down in the build history. > I suspect that the rsyslog package was built against and older librelp version. You're right, the build log shows 'librelp-dev_1.4.0-2' in the package installs/'Build environment' section. I slightly modified the changelog entry, and examined the old/new packages (i.e., pre/post rebuild) for differences, to ensure the changes are what we expect and nothing else. It all looks good. Details in the next comment. However this cannot be uploaded immediately because there is currently another rsyslog upload in focal; fortunately it's from Eric/@slashd and not yet approved, so we likely merge both.
