[Bug 1871721] Re: Second Monitor on HDMI blank screen/blink screen with Nvidia + Intel & Ubuntu 20.04? (ASUS Laptop)
I just want to add that I have the same problem on my Asus N552VW. I have managed to make it work from day 1, so hopefully this can help someone until the proper bug fix is provided. I have a laptop and an external monitor plugged via HDMI, everything is turned off. Simply turn on the laptop and load the OS, input your login/pass and get into system. Now close the laptop lid, then turn of the monitor. This are the only steps I can make an external monitor work with 20.04, kernel 5.4. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871721 Title: Second Monitor on HDMI blank screen/blink screen with Nvidia + Intel & Ubuntu 20.04? [Bug 1851518] Re: [950SBE/951SBE, Realtek ALC298, Speaker, Internal] No sound on internal speakers, very very quiet on headphones
@John Hoff Darn. Let's try something else. I submitted a kernel patch adding model=alc298-samsung-headphone (see attached). It exposes the quirk that fixed my Samsung Notebook 9 Pro as a "model" option that you can pass to snd_hda_intel. Give it a try: 1) Apply my patch to the linux kernel, compile, and run it. (Alternatively, wait until my patch lands in your favorite linux distribution's kernel binary and then upgrade.) 2) echo "options snd-hda-intel model=alc298-samsung-headphone" > /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf 3) Reboot I tested on my Samsung Notebook 9 Pro (NP930MBE-K04US) which runs Arch. [Bug 1891841] [NEW] x11vnc refresh is slow when using XUbuntu desktop
Public bug reported: When viewing the desktop exported via x11vnc, refresh rates are slow. 1.) This happens irrespective of client / client machine (Remmina, TightVNC viewer, RealVNC viewer), so it's not the client. 2.) iperf shows 900mbps+ bandwidth between clients and server (gigE wired connection). 3.) Refresh rate gets worse as screen resolution increases (HD is reasonably usable, say 500ms between refreshes based on looking at gkrellm graphs, but 4K is more like 3 seconds between redraws). 4.) It does not do this if logged in to a Mate desktop, leading me to believe it's XFCE, not x11vnc. 5.) This worked fine on 18.04, at 4k - no discernable lag. Everything else remains the same, just this was updated from 18.04 to 20.04. [Bug 1890930] Re: Xorg freeze
In case the freeze was actually a crash somewhere, please try following these instructions: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. [Bug 1891771] Re: gdm3 crashes after upgrade from bionic to focal but lightdm and sddm work fine
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1891771 Title: gdm3 crashes after upgrade from bionic to focal but lightdm and sddm work fine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1891771/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1891801] Re: watchdog should start after basic.target
Hello Christoph, Why do you think that ? Could you be more prolix about this change and what are the pros and cons of making this change ? An example on how you're setting up your cluster using sbd and watchdog would be also good to corroborate your request. From: https://wiki.clusterlabs.org/wiki/Using_SBD_with_Pacemaker I have: """Ensure that the sbd daemon is running on a node before starting the cluster services. The best approach is generally to enable it to start at boot. (The cluster can't manage the sbd daemon as a cluster resource.) There are two flavors of SBD, sbd for cluster nodes, and sbd_remote for Pacemaker Remote nodes. Here we use sbd as an example, but for Pacemaker Remote nodes, replace sbd with sbd_remote:""" Note: sbd has to start before corosync and pacemaker. It would be good to have watchdog already working, so you're probably right... but that change should be done in sbd.service and not watchdog (as watchdog is a "generic" service that serves other purposes than pacemaker/fence- agents). and """With watchdog-only SBD, the cluster must have true quorum. Thus, it can only be used in a cluster with three or more nodes, or a two-node cluster with external quorum (such as corosync using qdevice with a third node). Configure the basic setup on every node as described above. Select a recovery interval (in seconds) that is greater than SBD_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT in /etc/sysconfig/sbd.""" I assume the ordering has something to do with unfencing (from fence_sbd + watchdog setup) but I also know that those type of unfencing (like fence_mpath and fence_iscsi) are not supported "automatically" (meaning that any time there is a cluster split, a manual intervention is required). Looking forward to reading more about your request.
