[Bug 1888598] Re: pulseaudio has is buggy with hdmi audio and sleep/wake

2020-08-30 Thread Tessa
after pacmd --list, when the system has woken from sleep, and now is on
the wrong sound output. note that it's not going to the internal sound
card at the moment, but the other hdmi device. even though looking at
the diff, it thinks the default sync hasn't changed, it actually is now
going to the wrong output, and i have to manually switch it to the other
hdmi/dp in the sound settings.

[Bug 1893612] [NEW] No audio in snap-editor on ubuntu 20.04

2020-08-30 Thread Sergio Callegari
Public bug reported:

The application is totally silent on my kubuntu 20.04 machine.
The same goes for the version of the application packaged in the snap store,
that corresponds to the stable branch.
The only version of the application that appears to be capable of delivering
the sound of the videos that are being edited is the appimage from the
developers github project, that is quite outdated, though.
To make the matter worse, the developer has currently closed the means to
report bugs "while the 0.2 branch of the application is in development". This
means that it is impossible to report bugs about either the 0.1.x stable branch
(packaged as a snap) and the 0.2 branch packaged as a deb.

[Bug 1892358] Re: autopkgtest success rate dropped inhibiting proposed migration

2020-08-30 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
To match the open packages blocked on this in active releases I added
linux-meta for BIonic (thanks Kleber for the hint) and Focal (Thanks
Kelsey for the hint).

I think all of those had enough of retry-until-success and I'd ask again
for how we should proceed there. Masking/Resetting the test via an
override would throw away so much other coverage, but lacking other
feedback I'll at least proposed the change - maybe this also brings more
attention to here.

[Bug 665117] Re: glxgears really jerky on Maverick

2020-08-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.
Ubuntu 10.10 (maverick) reached end-of-life on April 10, 2012.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

[Bug 1845801] Re: [nvidia] Automatic login fails and then all subsequent logins fail. Killing gnome-session-binary fixes it, or just not using automatic login.

2020-08-30 Thread jeremyszu
I'd updated the debdiff to insert a DEP-3 header.
Here is the new debdiff.

** Patch added: "gdm3_3.34.1-1ubuntu2.debdiff"

** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]
In some platforms with specific Nvidia cards (with nvidia-driver-440), enable
auto-login (either during installation or after installation) will fail (either
stuck in gdm login screen and not able to login even typing correct password).

  [ Test Case ]
Here are two scenario of auto login with groovy (20.10) daily build[1]:

  1) Checked "Install third-party software" (e.g. nvidia-driver) with
  enabling "Login automatically" during installation.

  2) Install groovy daily build with default options, after installation
completed:
  2.1) Install nvidia-driver-440 (450.57-0ubuntu2) from ubuntu-archive.
2.2) Enable "Login automatically" from system settings.

  Then reboot.

  [Expected result]
System will boot into desktop environment without the login page.

  [Actual result]
System boots to login page, and can't login to desktop environment with the
correct password.

  [ Regression potential ]
- Low, the patch comes from upstream[2] to use /dev/tty1 (instead of tty0) to
prevent the auto-login user gets tty1. I did verified gdm3 from my PPA[3] and
it works good. It passed the 30 times reboot stress test by using
stress/reboot_30 from checkbox.

  ---

I just updated to the Ubuntu 19.10 beta. After boot, I'm shown the GDM
login screen (which I shouldn't; I have auto login enabled), and logging
in just takes me back to the same user selection screen even though the
  password is correct.

If I switch to a TTY and run `sudo pkill gnome-session-binary`, logging
in through GDM starts working again.

I should add that the do-release-upgrade was rocky; I did it in a
terminal from within gnome, went away for a while, and when I returned,
I just saw an Ubuntu 19.10 in a TTY. I was able to do `sudo dpkg
--configure -a` and complete the upgrade, but I don't know if
something's still messed up due to that.

Re: [Bug 1893601] Re: 4k not working

2020-08-30 Thread VIMALRAJ CHANDRA SEKARAN
Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your quick response. The details are here.

1. Selecting 'Ubuntu on Wayland' from the login screen. Do you now get
4K modes offered in Settings?
- I don't see any Wayland option. The max resolution at Display
Settings is 1080p.

2. Run:
   grep . /sys/class/drm/*/modes > kernel-modes.txt
- Attached the file.

Thanks and Regards,
Vimal Raj

[Bug 1887740] Re: Request for eBPF patches into the 5.4 kernel

2020-08-30 Thread Khaled El Mously
** Description changed:

The cloud vendor is requesting backport of 13 patches from upstream.
These changes are mostly improvements to the bpf networking-related
  code.

Please see the SalesForce case for more information:

  https://canonical.lightning.force.com/lightning/r/Case/5003z27kZitAAE/view

-
  [Impact]
- Without these patches, BPF functionality incomplete in current 5.4
+ Without these patches, BPF functionality is incomplete in current 5.4 kernels

  [Fix]
Add missing (networking) BPF code from upstream.

  [Test]
The cloud vendor has tested these patches, before submitting them upsteam and
then backporting for the Ubuntu 5.4 kernel

  [Regression Potential]
Low. These changes are mostly extending BPF functionality in the net code not
changing existing code.

[Bug 1893601] Re: 4k not working

2020-08-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please try:

1. Selecting 'Ubuntu on Wayland' from the login screen. Do you now get
4K modes offered in Settings?

2. Run:

   grep . /sys/class/drm/*/modes > kernel-modes.txt

and then attach the resulting text file here.

[Bug 1892973] Re: gnome-session fails, and fails, and fails yet again

2020-08-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. This appears to be an Nvidia hardware or driver fault.

Since this is the first time I've ever seen this (other Nvidia users
don't seem to encounter the same issue) I would suggest the simplest
solution would be to change the graphics card. Otherwise you will need
to seek support from Nvidia themselves.

The recurring problems are:

[Bug 1892714] Re: Microphone not working on HP Omen 17

2020-08-30 Thread Vedran Rafaelic
I tested now with 5.4 (5.4.0-42-generic) and it works without freeze.
Same device input output as in #23. Attaching dmesg

Only one test (so not 100% that it will not freeze ever). As before on
5.4, after uninstalling Nvidia drivers I have to disable nouveau and use
Intel GPU.

Will continue with the tests tomorrow.

[Bug 1891648] Re: [0cf3:e301 Qualcomm Atheros]Cannot switch to A2DP profile w/o restarting bluetooth.service [pulseaudio: Refused to switch profile to a2dp_sink: Not connected]

2020-08-30 Thread Hui Wang
According to #81, it looks like you still use a hacked pulseaudio:

a2dp_sink_sbc: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: SBC)
(priority 40, available: unknown)
a2dp_sink_aac: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: AAC)
(priority 40, available: unknown)
a2dp_sink_aptx: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: aptX)
(priority 40, available: no)
a2dp_sink_aptx_hd: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: aptX HD)
(priority 40, available: no)
a2dp_sink_ldac: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink: LDAC)
(priority 40, available: unknown)

I suggest you use the original pulesauido in the kbuntu, and use a different BT
headphone and that new 0b05:17cb ASUSTek Computer, Inc. Broadcom BCM20702A0
Bluetooth to do the test.

No need to test 5.8 kernel.

Please test with ubuntu 5.4 kernel or 5.6 oem kernel, let us see if
those 2 kernels could work with new sof-firmware, if they could, please
test sof-cfl.ri and sof-hda-generic-2ch.tplg respectively, let us find
which one of them is needed.

thx.
