[Bug 1816045] Re: secureboot-db: release upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04 modifies changelog.gz but resets mtime
so the mtime is set to the one mentioned inside the changelog, "Fri, 19 Oct 2018 11:20:34 -0700" and that's what's included in the package, and by Debian Policy, one should maintain the timestamps as much as possible. at the moment we do not provide any guarantees that files in later series, have higher/same/lower mtime than in previous releases. For example, a package in xenial may have an SRU to fix a bug, which doesn't affect and/or has always been fixed in bionic, thus upgrade from xenial to bionic may see files go back in time w.r.t. mtime. A backup system that exclusively relies on mtime, or mtime increasing linearly, will be broken across release-upgrades. After a release- upgrade a contents/checksum check should be executed to detect changes. Which backup system are you using? ** Changed in: secureboot-db (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816045 Title: secureboot-db: release upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04 modifies changelog.gz but resets mtime To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/secureboot-db/+bug/1816045/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1854982] Re: Lost compatibilty for backup between Ubuntu 19.10 and FreeBSD 12.0
Basically I backup every weekend again from my 64-bits Ubuntu to my 32-bits FreeBSD. I solved the issue by setting the property dnodesize=legacy for the datasets I wanted to backup. I also reloaded those datasets once to get the storage with the right dnodesize everywhere. [Bug 1890751] Re: unmatched entry for securetty on focal
See also: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pam/+bug/1860826 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=674857#25 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=931899 "FWIW, the latest login upload to unstable (1:4.7-1) dropped support for /etc/securetty and removed that file on upgrades, due to the numerous complaints it caused... This lead to complaints by pam_unix in the system logs on every login, see #931899." So the warning is superfluous, and merely serves to cause confusion for other unrelated bugs (e.g. LP #1860826 comments 8-12). Apparently a workaround is to remove "nullok_secure" from the auth line in /etc/pam.d/common-auth. Logwatch sounds unsure about carrying this change upstream, but given the above I think it is worth carrying in the Ubuntu delta at least. When LP: #1860826 is resolved for -devel and all supported LTS' the logwatch delta could be dropped, although the messages likely will linger in log files and thus show up in "--range All" for some time. focal and groovy have login 1:4.8.1-1 so are affected, but bionic has 1:4.5-1 so this is only applicable for SRU to focal. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #674857 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=674857 ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #931899 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=931899 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890751 Title: unmatched entry for securetty on focal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/logwatch/+bug/1890751/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1867366] Re: hostnqn fails to automatically generate after installing nvme-cli
Oops there is something else.. hostnqn *could* come from kernel (from nvme-connect Documentation): --hostnqn=:: Overrides the default Host NQN that identifies the NVMe Host. If this option is not specified, the default is read from /etc/nvme/hostnqn first. If that does not exist, the autogenerated NQN value from the NVMe Host kernel module is used next. The Host NQN uniquely identifies the NVMe Host. the documentation for nvme-discover.txt does not contain the kernel part. But I could not find any code reading hostnqn from sysfs or ioctls or anything like it .. (weird). There is a function to automatically generate a hostnqn with libuuid ... but nothing else as it seems.. so the documentation seems wrong. So I think that for both, Bionic and Focal, we should concentrate in hard coded: #define PATH_NVME_FABRICS "/dev/nvme-fabrics" #define PATH_NVMF_DISC "/etc/nvme/discovery.conf" #define PATH_NVMF_HOSTNQN "/etc/nvme/hostnqn" #define PATH_NVMF_HOSTID"/etc/nvme/hostid" (from fabric.c) Assumption: - If no hostnqn is given, then there is no way a fabric was configured, and you're safe to delete both files. Logic: - check if hostnqn is set in /etc/nvme/hostnqn, if yes warn user hostid can be duplicated - if not, check if hostid was changed.. if yes, keep it... if no change it to correct one, create hostnqn Make Sure: - both files /etc/nvme/hostnqn and /etc/nvme/hostid are kept on purge (just because they are related to host identification, user can delete later if really wanted). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1867366 Title: hostnqn fails to automatically generate after installing nvme-cli To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvme-cli/+bug/1867366/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1867366] Re: hostnqn fails to automatically generate after installing nvme-cli
As long as all policies from: https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-files.html#configuration- files and other packaging guidelines are kept, there should be no issues. But, the intent here is something else in my understanding: to avoid breakage so the SRU is accepted by the SRU team. Let's say an user has the environment configured and working and suddenly we decide to move correctly configured files to .bak just because the binaries were updated and we "thought" it could be better. That would break an environment for no reason. Like open-iscsi iqn generation, we want also to make sure that generated uuids/iqns/nqns are NOT wiped in the package purging (thus the test in my first comment for Groovy). We have to make sure the Focal version also behaves like that... just like open-iscsi does: [rafaeldtinoco@work iscsi]$ ls initiatorname.iscsi iscsid.conf [rafaeldtinoco@work iscsi]$ apt-file list open-iscsi | grep etc open-iscsi: /etc/default/open-iscsi open-iscsi: /etc/init.d/iscsid open-iscsi: /etc/init.d/open-iscsi open-iscsi: /etc/iscsi/iscsid.conf where /etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi is not wiped (cause it contains the iqn). [Bug 1892897] Re: Cannot access a Samba file share anymore due to "Failed to retrieve file list from server"
More of an FYI but you will get a "Software caused connection abort" error anytime Nautilus tries to connect to a SMB / Samba server that only uses SMB1. There is no SMB1 ( NT1 ) on the client ( or server ) side in Ubuntu20. There is in Ubuntu 18. SO either enable SMB2/SMB3 on the diskstation or enable SMB1 on the client side of Ubuntu20 by editing smb.conf and adding in the [global] section: client min protocol = NT1 Then reboot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892897 Title: Cannot access a Samba file share anymore due to "Failed to retrieve file list from server" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1892897/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
