[Bug 1861610] Re: 'Elan touchpad' not detected on 'Lenovo ThinkBook 15 IIL'
Hi! Thank you guys for the thread and hardwork. I am using Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 (14IIL05). [Bug 1895618] [NEW] ubuntu dock bounces when on bottom and auto-hide is active
Public bug reported: While dock is locked to the bottom of the screen and hidden while not in use, once un-hidden/activated it will bounce back and forth between hidden and un-hidden. This is much more apparent or frequent when there is a window that is either maximized or has a boarder near the bottom of the screen next to where the dock will be activated at (Usually the bottom 10 or 20 pixels of the screen). This is potentially a GNOME issues or an "Ubuntu Dock", issue. However, I don't have the time at the moment to diagnose this further. Attached is a video which shows the bug in action. [Bug 1895615] [NEW] Backlight adjustment doesn't work on Google Pixel Slate
Public bug reported: The Pixel Slate/nocturne backlight does not work due to DPCD logic not identifying the DPCD backlight connection since there is no PWM on the nocturne or eve devices. ChromeOS documentation of disconnected PWM: https://chromium- review.googlesource.com/c/chromiumos/overlays/board-overlays/+/1171922 Discussion of issue & solution: https://github.com/EmbeddedAndroid /linux-eve/issues/2#issuecomment-561382927 This can be fixed with a simple patch which I have applied successfully to mainline 5.9-rc5: https://gist.github.com/satmandu/d6c2192f66cd14525049fd34d356d71d Luckily the Ubuntu kernel patches set i915.enable_psr=0 which keeps Panel Self Refresh from dimming the backlight at boot, but that isn't even needed for this device once the backlight is hooked up correctly. [Bug 1895606] Re: Thunderbolt3 daisy chain sometimes doesn't work
commit f022ff7bf377ca94367be05de61277934d42ea74 Author: Mika Westerberg Date: Mon Sep 7 12:20:36 2020 +0300 thunderbolt: Retry DROM read once if parsing fails Kai-Heng reported that sometimes DROM parsing of ASUS PA27AC Thunderbolt 3 monitor fails. This makes the driver to fail to add the device so only DisplayPort tunneling is functional. It is not clear what exactly happens but waiting for 100 ms and retrying the read seems to work this around so we do that here. ** Description changed: - This bug is for tracking purpose. + [Impact] + We had a Dell machine, this machine was enabled with ubuntu 4.4 + kernel before, but recently the hdmi audio on this machine stopped + working with the latest ubuntu 4.4. kernel. [Bug 1895597] [NEW] No Launch app with discrete GPU option
Public bug reported: Even though my HP Gaming Hybrid laptop on CPU Ryzen graphics works really well with Kubuntu 20.10 there is no easy way to launch applications using the Nvidia 1050 discrete GPU. The only way I am able to launch using the discrete GPU is by changing to "on-demand" mode using sudo prime-select on-demand then launching applications using __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia. I do believe their is supposed to be a Launch app with discrete GPU option found in the Open Application Launcher in the Advanced Options found on the Application Tab (https://userbase.kde.org/Plasma/Tips #launch-app-with-discrete-gpu). I do not see this in the advanced tab on Kubuntu 20.10. The options I see are run in terminal, run as different user, and enable launch feedback. I can not see the Launch app with discrete GPU option anywhere. Even though this option in the advanced panel will be nice it would be even more helpful to make this option more obvious for novice users if possible. [Bug 1895422] Re: Sound card not detected on Dell Latitude 9510 (Realtek ALC711)

[Bug 1894453] Re: Building Ceph packages with RelWithDebInfo
@Tyler, Canonical's Ceph builds don't deal with build options as such (like -DNDEBUG) but uses the upstream provided CMakeLists.txt files. So if we build with RelWithDebInfo, it should automatically use -DNDEBUG, too. The question was whether our build uses RelWithDebInfo -- which turns out to be case for all but rocksdb. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1894453 Title: Building Ceph packages with RelWithDebInfo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceph/+bug/1894453/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1894453] Re: Building Ceph packages with RelWithDebInfo
@Corey Bryant, I think Ceph simply specifies rocksdb version to be used in the submodule information. 1. I checked out the tag v15.2.3 (upstream): git checkout tags/v15.2.3 -b 15.2.3 (which src/rocksdb is an empty directory) 2. Initialize submodule indexes: git submodule update --init 3. The commit HEAD of rocksdb that Ceph 15.2.3 uses: $ git submodule status | grep rocksdb 4c736f177851cbf9fb7a6790282306ffac5065f8 rocksdb (v5.8-1436-g4c736f177) I think this is how Ceph upstream "matches" the versions of various submodules (rocksdb is one of them) for a given Ceph release. Comparing the above cloned rocksdb matches exactly with UCA's repo. So I think the UCA's repo is upto date and there's no such problem of using "older" version of rocksdb as I speculated. So the question is whether we want to cherry-pick build change from upstream so as compile rocksdb with RelWithDebInfo or wait until upstream defaults to a newer rocksdb submodule that does build with RelWithDebInfo by default. P.S: One thing I don't know is what mechanism upstream follow before they decide to use a newer version of rocksdb. For example, the rocksdb version 6.8.1 contains the change to use 'RelWithDebInfo' - which was released/tagged on April 17th [0] as part of Ceph repo. But the Ceph 15.2.3 release [1] that was done on May 29 didn't include that but uses an older version of rocksdb (as noted initially in the comment). My guess is that upstream always integrate recent rocksdb commits in Ceph master for testing/development purposes. But when it comes to release, they choose the one that they think is stable.
