[Bug 1898522] [NEW] Comet Lake PCH-LP cAVS (Audio, Voice, Speech) | Ubuntu 20.04

2020-10-05 Thread lavistam
Public bug reported:

Comet Lake PCH-LP cAVS (Audio, Voice, Speech)

I have the same problem as this thread. Unfortunately I don't have
dmic_detect in the config files.

Here it my information. The laptop is a Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen3

I have a new laptop and my mic isnt recoginzed by ubuntu (18.04 or
20.04)

$ uname -r
5.4.66-050466-generic

I've been playing with settings to try to get:

snd_hda_intel

to work, and then got lost trying to replace it with sof-firmware per:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1203799/internal-microphone-not-
detected-lenovo-carbon-x1-7th-gen-ubuntu-19

and also

https://mathieularose.com/ubuntu-19-10-on-lenovo-thinkpad-x1-carbon-7th-
gen/

Currently commented blacklist like so:

```
# blacklist snd_hda_intel
# blacklist snd_soc_skl
```

Which allows my speakers, but not my mic

If I uncomment, I can't see either. I have a thinkpad dock, so some
"mic" is identified through the thunderbolt dock, when I unplug it, I
have no mic recognized

[Bug 1852747] Re: mdcheck_start.service trying to start unexisting file

2020-10-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package mdadm - 4.1-5ubuntu1.2

---
mdadm (4.1-5ubuntu1.2) focal; urgency=medium

  * d/p/mdcheck-when-mdcheck-start-is-enabled-mdcheck-continue-too.patch:
- When mdcheck_start is enabled, enable mdcheck_continue too.

mdadm (4.1-5ubuntu1.1) focal; urgency=medium

  * d/rules: Install misc/mdcheck (LP: #1852747)
- The absence of mdcheck utility is preventing
  mdcheck_continue.service & mdcheck_start.service
  to execute the command when the service start via
  ExecStart. (Closes: #960132)

  * d/p/mdcheck-log-when-done.patch:
- Make sure mdcheck logs the completion too, so that
  it can be determined how long the raid check took.

[Bug 1898501] Re: lubuntu qa-test install with internet, calamares is selecting new york

2020-10-05 Thread Leó Kolbeinsson
I can confirm this.

Firefox reports my location as :

64.1360 N 21.9203 W

calamares has selected 'New York' as my location,
Region:America
Zone: New York

I then manually selected Iceland as location and continued with the
install.

After installation and reboot the location is correct.

Hi You-sheng,

sorry I posted and didnt realize how to edit. Please see above.
Installing headers linux-headers-5.4.0-47 linux-headers-5.4.0-48
resolved the issue.

So, the question is : Do we need to have any headers meta package
installed?

Regards
Ravindran

[Bug 1871306] Re: No sound from internal card chtmax98090 - missing UCM2 files in alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.2, available in alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.3

2020-10-05 Thread Gabriele Tettamanzi
@Mathi
I have the same problem, I thought it was related to plugging/unplugging the
headset jack (see comment #28 and following ones).

Hui's and my opinion is the it's not alsa-ucm-conf related, therefore
this requires more analysis and a new bug report.

What you could do:
- to play with parameters in alsamixer (it does not work with me)
- to test a more recent mainline kernel (not tested yet)
- to install alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.3 from Debian (not tested yet)

Post your testing results please.

[Bug 1898512] [NEW] [System Product Name, Nvidia GPU 93 HDMI/DP, Digital Out, HDMI] fails after a while

2020-10-05 Thread max
Public bug reported:

I'm using ubuntu 20.04, I recently upgraded from 18.

I have nvidia video card, connected to HDMI TV which outputs sound.

I think the sound will not work sometimes after boot up, sometimes it
does work.

But it definitely does not work when ubuntu goes to idle. As soon as
ubuntu goes to idle and screen starts to fade, sound will disappear.

Funny enough, if I play a game from emulator MAME, MAME game will bring
sound back, and all my youtube and other games sound will work.

When sound disappears, wait for a while, the sound will come back. It

This is now running and likely to crash later today.
But since I fail to get a crash dump before that (how to get one) will be the

[Bug 1802005] Re: socket is inaccessible for libvirt-dbus

2020-10-05 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Due to the difference in auth mechanisms between Debian (polkit)
+and Ubuntu (group based) libvirt-dbus does not work as-is in
+Ubuntu.
+
+ * Users would need to manually add a user to a group, but we
+should make the default install experience work.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ # should install fine
+ $ sudo apt-get install libvirt-dbus
+ # should be avail due to dependencies and look normal (as shown here)
+ $ ls -l /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock
+ srw-rw 1 root libvirt 0 Oct  5 05:50 /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock
+ # should be part of the "libvirt" group
+ $ id libvirtdbus
+ uid=997(libvirtdbus) gid=997(libvirtdbus) groups=997(libvirtdbus),122(libvirt)
+ # call should work
+ $ busctl call org.libvirt /org/libvirt/QEMU org.libvirt.Connect ListDomains u 0
+
+ bad:
+ Call failed: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock':
Permission denied
+ good:
+ ao 0
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * The change only does the group add, no regression expected except a
+potential security issue. That was brought up and signed off by
+security in comment #13 =>
+ https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1802005/comments/13
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * The package also was an FTBFS which this upload fixes as well.
+That change is only to the build-time self tests, so again no change to
+the runtime behavior due to the changes.
+This FTFBS is only present with newer libvirt, and therefore the Focal
+SRU will only have the permissions change, but depending on timing the
+groovy upload might become a zero day SRU hence I wanted to mention.
+
+
+
+
+
  Package: libvirt-dbus
  Version: 1.2.0-1
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.10

  libvirt-dbus seems to be completely broken for the system connection:

  root:~# busctl call org.libvirt /org/libvirt/QEMU org.libvirt.Connect
ListDomains u 0
  Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock': Permission denied

  root:~# ls -l /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock
  srwxrwx--- 1 root libvirt 0 Nov  6 15:15 /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock

  root:~# ps aux|grep libvirtd
  root  1434  0.0  3.4 1038028 35212 ?   Ssl  15:15   0:00
/usr/sbin/libvirtd

  The same happens for a user that is in the "libvirt" group.

  On Fedora and also Debian testing (which has the exact same libvirt-dbus
  package), the socket has permissions 777 instead of 770, where it works.
  I don't have an idea where the wrong permissions are set.

[Bug 1881401] Re: HPLIP, hp-doctor, hp-check should support Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with its package base

2020-10-05 Thread Webmaster4362
Quick FYI to possibly help others in the interim.

Despite the above detailed issues, which I share (KDE neon 5.19 User
Edition (Ubuntu 20.04 LTS), HPLIP 3.20.3), I managed to get my HP
OfficeJet 6950 printing, connected via USB, by doing the following.

1. "sudo apt-get install hplip" - with all the usual dependencies (cups, etc).
Note: I did not install hplip-gui (unclear if this makes a difference or not).
2. Access the cups web interface in a browser "http://localhost:631; and go to
> Administration > Add Printer.
3. Choosing the printer, I then selected - "Discovered Network Printers: HP
OfficeJet 6950 (driverless) (HP OfficeJet 6950)"
4. Then set the printer Name/Description, next, next, next... and
5. Hey presto - it was printing again via USB.

Don't ask me how or why, but it'll do me for now! :-)

Scanning with XSane however is still not possible, and I couldn't find a
workaround... so I'll hold out for the bug fix on that one.

Hope that helps somebody.

2020-10-05 Thread Hauke Wintjen
Affects me too. I have 1:3.36.3-0ubuntu1.

The bug only reveals in "Show Symbol" view of nautilust, list view seems
to be ok.

[Bug 1802005] Re: socket is inaccessible for libvirt-dbus

2020-10-05 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Tested on two systems, one with one without the PPA - the fix seems to work
just as planned.
This also will be used as SRU Template test steps.

# should install fine
$ sudo apt-get install libvirt-dbus
# should be avail due to dependencies and look normal (as shown here)
$ ls -l /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock
srw-rw 1 root libvirt 0 Oct  5 05:50 /var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock
# should be part of the "libvirt" group
$ id libvirtdbus
uid=997(libvirtdbus) gid=997(libvirtdbus) groups=997(libvirtdbus),122(libvirt)
# call should work
$ busctl call org.libvirt /org/libvirt/QEMU org.libvirt.Connect ListDomains u 0

bad:
Call failed: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock':
Permission denied
good:
