Re: [Bug 1906155] Re: USB Passthrough Fails on Start, Needs domain Reset

2020-12-14 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
> LOL. This really is very odd. I'm open to any thoughts you have.
Thanks!

Indeed - it might come down to the actual USB devices/Hubs in play and
their exact type and firmware.
OTOH that might also explain why not everyone ever using it complains
about it being dysfunctional but a few do.

> Could that be part of the fun here?

Not uncommon - a single USB device can define multiple "Interfaces" to
support different things at once.
With lsusb -vvv -d you can see what it is -
it can be e.g. a keyboard also registering a mouse for a trackpoint or
such.

P.S. I'm not an USB expert - I know there are even malicious devices
that e.g. have an USB stick also provide Keyboard/Mouse to hijack a
computer. I'd not expect this to be the case here, but you never know
so I wanted to mention.

[Bug 1908203] [NEW] breeze icons set to monochrome on 48x48

2020-12-14 Thread H. Turgut Uyar
Public bug reported:

On Groovy, when the icon set is breeze (or breeze-dark) and the big icon
size is set to 48x48 on the desktop or using edit -> preferences ->
display, the monochrome icons are used. This doesn't happen on 32x32 or
64x64.

[Bug 1902059] Re: [MIR] postgresql-13

2020-12-14 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Ok, this is complete.
- PG-13 is migrated and all dependencies with it
- Various leftovers were removed in bug 1907110 and via further NBS removal
- bug 1908185 removed PG-12

This is fully complete.

If cstore-fdw completes and releases support for PG-13 before FeatureFreeze we
will happily sync it back (removed atm).
That is tracked in:
https://github.com/citusdata/cstore_fdw/issues/238
https://github.com/citusdata/cstore_fdw/pull/241

Thereby closing this bug as the move to PG-13 is complete in Hirsute.

[Bug 1904906] Re: 5.10 kernel fails to boot with secure boot disabled

2020-12-14 Thread Frank Heimes
Hi Daniel, thx for testing the special kernel build and verifying that it now
boots again on KVM.
Since the initial request from the kernel team was to verify that secureboot
and lockdown works with 5.10 on ppc64el, it would be important to test that,
too - maybe you or Nayna may try secureboot lock-down testing as well?

Thanks for the suggestions. Closing the settings window makes the
problem disappear. Good call.

Unlike the reporter in the linked bug I wouldn't exactly call that a
"solution" (and certainly not "simple") since there is very little
chance I would consider closing the settings window before confirming
that the speaker works properly.

[Bug 1890130] Re: Add support for Intel Bluetooth Device Typhoon Peak (8087:0032)

2020-12-14 Thread You-Sheng Yang
** Description changed:

- [SRU]
-
- BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890130
+ [SRU Justification: linux-firmware]

  [Impact]

To support new Intel Typhoon Peak Bluetooth, USB ID 8087:0032
  specifically.

  [Fix]

  Kernel driver patchset
  https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/bluetooth/list/?series=387475
targeting v5.11, as well as firmware intel/ibt-0041-0041.{ddc,sfi} from
  linux-firmware commit 5cbf459c1ed9 and 7eb7fda50e9a.

  [Test Case]

  1. Install aforementioned firmware blobs and boot with kernel built with
  these patches applied.
  2. Run `btmgmt info` to find out if bluetooth controller is now
  available.

  [Where problems could occur]

Typhoon Peak is a whole new generation that it has its own call path to
load firmware, initial setup, etc. These patches are almost completely
isolated from previous generation, so little regression risk introduced.

[Bug 1904590] Re: Virtualbox does not work on 20.04-edge kernel due to DKMS build failure

2020-12-14 Thread Mateusz Bysiek
FYI, from the Virtualbox changelog at
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Changelog-6.1:

> VirtualBox 6.1.14:
> ...
> Linux host and guest: Linux kernel version 5.8 support

Therefore, it should be fixed after the VirtualBox package on Ubuntu
20.04 gets updated. After running into the same issue as you, I
installed VirtualBox 6.1.16 from the Virtualbox.org contrib PPA, and the
VMs run alright on my fresh 5.8.0-33-lowlatency kernel.

[Bug 1908195] Re: redshift keeps switching colours after update to 1.12-4

2020-12-14 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1908195

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Note: if you're using GNOME & have Night Shift enabled, they can
interfere with each other in my experience. No desktop etc. details
have been currently provided.

[Bug 1908191] [NEW] glfw3 based applications failed to handle keys if app is launched under non English keyboard layout

2020-12-14 Thread Krylov Yaroslav
Public bug reported:

Starting from Ubuntu 20.4 (maybe a bit before, I used 18.4 and all is fine
there) glfw-based applications started to mostly ignore keyboard input if
application started with non-English layout. And switching keyboard layout back
to En after app is started doesn't work. Namely, Ru keyboard layout behaves so,
according to https://github.com/glfw/glfw/pull/1598 also Arabic.
This was fixed in commit d9faf8d4154651816a0a56dea25b9613c9f55180 (X11: Fix
function keys mapped to GLFW_KEY_UNKNOWN) but it is not in latest 3.3.2
release. And according to glfw release plan, the new release won't be prepared
for months.
Is it possible to apply this bugfix patch in the current "libglfw3/focal,now
3.3.2-1" package? Because the problem is very annoying (need to restart the
affected application every single time.

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu
lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release:20.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or
by checking in Software Center
apt-cache policy libglfw3
libglfw3:
  Installed: 3.3.2-1
  Candidate: 3.3.2-1

[Bug 1908185] [NEW] Please remove postgresql-12 in hirsute

2020-12-14 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Public bug reported:

Hi,
with the completion of powa-archivist tonight we have resolved the last reverse
dependency of src:postgresql-12 in hirsute. Now everything depends on
postgresql-13 as it should.

The one dependency left is - as mentioned - postgresql-12-powa which is
in the [1] NBS report now.

The remaining dependencies are inner dependencies of various binaries
built by src:postgresql-12.

Since some binaries are built by postgresql-12 and postgresql-13 and controlled
by postgresql-common which one is used a trivial "reverse-depends
--release=hirsute src:postgresql-12" shows way more than what is true.
The critical packages like libpq-dev are on v13:

 libpq-dev | 13.1-1build1| hirsute | amd64, arm64,
armhf, i386, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x

But this is empty as it should be:
for p in postgresql-12 postgresql-client-12 postgresql-server-dev-12
postgresql-doc-12 postgresql-plperl-12 postgresql-plpython3-12
postgresql-pltcl-12; do echo $p; reverse-depends --release=hirsute $p; done

Therefore it should be ready and I'd ask to remove postgresql-12 from
Hirsute to complete that.

[Bug 1902848] Re: Support Intel AX210 wifi [8086:2725] Subsystem [8086:4020]

2020-12-14 Thread You-Sheng Yang
** Description changed:

+ [SRU Justification]
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ To support next generation of Intel AX210 WiFi family. PCI ID
+ [8086:2725] Subsystem [8086:4020] specifically.
+
+ So far only patchset
+ https://lore.kernel.org/linux-wireless/20201202124151.55050-1-l...@coelho.fi
+ is required on v5.10-rc6, and itself is also in mainline kernel for
+ v5.10-rc7 at this moment. To enable this card with oem-5.10 kernel in
+ Focal, firmware blob is also required and hence SRU sent.
+
+ [Fix]
+
+ Firmware iwlwifi-ty-a0-gf-a0-59.ucode from commit 4f41e9d6437d ("iwlwifi:
+ update and add new FWs from core56-54 release").
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ 1. Boot with kernel from mainline tip or v5.10-rc7 or newer.
+ 2. Check with `sudo dmesg | grep iwlwifi`.
+
+ [Where problems could occur]
+
+ New device firmware for initial AX210 hardware support. As this is the
+ first revision of the firmware for bringing up corresponding iwlwifi
+ device in system, it may also introduce new issues that breaks existing
+ user experience. However, without corresponding firmware, the Wi-Fi
+ function would be completely unusable, so the risk should be justified.

You appear to have the 'oibaf' PPA installed which is not supported and
is known to cause bugs.

Please use the 'ppa-purge' tool to remove that PPA from the system, then
reboot and if you experience any more problems then open a new bug.

1. This is probably an issue with the Bluetooth kernel driver. Please
run:

2. Please ensure the latest driver is installed by running:

   sudo apt install bcmwl-kernel-source

3. Try closing Settings, in case you are experiencing bug 1797002.

[Bug 1907904] Re: gnome-shell 20.10 crashes with Wayland

2020-12-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1904306] Re: bcm2835-v4l2 does not detect/expose the second camera on RPi Compute Module 3+ in Ubuntu Server 20.04.1

2020-12-14 Thread Adam Black
Gah, I've found the issue.

Based on the investigation in this thread
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=174347&start=25#p1120478
I narrowed it down to dtparam=i2c_arm=on preventing the secondary camera
from being detected.

After commenting out dtparam=i2c_arm=on from /boot/firmware/syscfg.txt I
now have /dev/video0 and /dev/video1 for each of the supported cameras
on CM3+ in Ubuntu 20

[ 14.133985] bcm2835-v4l2: V4L2 device registered as video0 - stills mode >
1280x720
[ 14.139034] bcm2835-v4l2: Broadcom 2835 MMAL video capture ver 0.0.2 loaded.
[ 14.151264] bcm2835-v4l2: V4L2 device registered as video1 - stills mode >
1280x720
[ 14.156258] bcm2835-v4l2: Broadcom 2835 MMAL video capture ver 0.0.2 loaded.

Is it expected that this, remotely related, setting affects
functionality in bcm2835-camera.c? That's pretty brittle.

[Bug 1906155] Re: USB Passthrough Fails on Start, Needs domain Reset

2020-12-14 Thread Russell Morris
OK, this is going to sound crazy, but ...

I did exactly like you note above - and the same thing happens. My USB
device isn't seen / avaiable on start, but after I reset the VM ..
voila! It's there and works.

OK, wondering what else it could be. I have a USB hub where the device
is plugged in - will try removing that (variable) ... nope, that's not
it either. Arrgh!?!?

LOL. This really is very odd. I'm open to any thoughts you have. Thanks!

[Bug 1906155] Re: USB Passthrough Fails on Start, Needs domain Reset

2020-12-14 Thread Russell Morris
BTW, one other interesting thing I just noticed, in lsusb. As this
Logitech receiver connects to multiple devices (e.g. keyboard, mouse), I
see it "3 times",

/: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/10p, 480M
|__ Port 1: Dev 2, If 0, Class=Hub, Driver=hub/4p, 480M
|__ Port 1: Dev 8, If 2, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid,
12M
|__ Port 1: Dev 8, If 0, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid,
12M
|__ Port 1: Dev 8, If 1, Class=Human Interface Device, Driver=usbhid,
12M

Could that be part of the fun here?

[Bug 1908095] Re: /etc/openfortivpn/config is world readable but might contain passwords

2020-12-14 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Since the package referred to in this bug is in universe or
multiverse, it is community maintained. If you are able, I suggest
coordinating with Debian and posting a debdiff for this issue. When a
debdiff is available, members of the security team will review it and
publish the package. See the following link for more information:

[Bug 1872268] Re: Gnome Shell completely freezes in Ubuntu 20.04 when clicking outside of app icon folders (when ubuntu-dock is loaded)

2020-12-14 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. Unfortunately I can't see an explanation in there, and there's
no crash either.

Please ensure you only have the three Ubuntu extensions (or less)
enabled in the Extensions app. If the problem keeps happening then you
can work around it by disabling the 'Ubuntu Dock' extension, I am
told
