[Bug 1919044] Re: Dell Inspiron 7567 Freezes/Hangs Randomly
** Description changed: Hi, I am running ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my laptop and have had this issue of the computer freezing ever since I installed this OS. When this occurs, I lose all control of my laptop, and nothing but a hard reset will fix the problem. I believe that this is related to the cstate issue that is most common in the intelbay trail processors (I've seen many forums discussing the same issue). This is because when I pass in the grub-boot-parameter GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash intel_idle.max_cstate=3, this issue never occurs. However, the issue has come up when I set - max_cstate=5; so I believe that the issue is caused when the processor - enters a cstate between 4 and 5. + max_cstate=5; so the issue is caused when the processor enters a cstate + between 4 and 5. - The downside of this workaround is the degradation of battery life (it - does not last for 1/4th the usual time). + The downside of this whole grub boot parameter workaround is that the + degradation of battery life is heavy reduced(it does not last for 1/4th + the usual time). [Bug 1919051] Re: ch341 USB-Serial converter only receives, does not send
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1919051/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.] ** Tags added: bot-comment -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1919051 Title: ch341 USB-Serial converter only receives, does not send To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1919051/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1696250] Re: Please hide Start Center and Math
The decision to hide the LO startcenter launcher was recently questioned in a thread at the ubuntu-devel-discuss mailing list: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel- discuss/2021-March/018966.html I too would like that launcher become visible again. It's not only about the visual impression in the "Start Applications" view, but the technique for hiding the LO startcenter launcher prevents you from having it among the "Favorites" in the Dock. Myself was in the habit of replacing the Writer/Impress/Calc icons in the Dock with the startcenter one. Also, as pointed out in comment #12 above, there are use cases where the LO startcenter plays a role on its own merits. Debian didn't hide it, btw. While they hid Math, they chose to keep startcenter visible. Please consider to drop hide-startcenter-desktop-file.patch. ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Released => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1696250 Title: Please hide Start Center and Math To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1696250/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1919051] [NEW] ch341 USB-Serial converter only receives, does not send
Public bug reported: This device works flawlessly on Windows XP with native driver, both as a physical machine or inside a VM. It appears on XP's device management as "USB 2.0" name. On Ubuntu, Shorting pins 2 and 3 of DB9 connector does not give back characters sent (no echo), nor typed strings are sent to other RS232 devices, despite of communication settings. Characters from remote devices are correctly received. Using a null modem cable to other RS232 terminal shows that the local terminal receives, but does not transmit. Its worth to mention: passing through the device to a guest virtual machine (KVM) running Windows XP makes it work correctly with XP driver inside the guest OS. Bringing back the device stops transmitting. Only receive works. [Bug 1919049] Re: Can not enable laptop screen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1919049 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 I'm marking this bug incomplete, as it appears to me you need support more than have a bug (there is insufficient data currently anyway due to the method used to file). If you do believe it is a bug, please change the status back to "New" after you've completed the requested `apport-collect` ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1919049 Title: Can not enable laptop screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1919049/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14
Hello, I've had success in probing the device with the aforementioned tool (https://github.com/bentiss/SimplePeripheralBusProbe). Sadly I'm not sure how to analyze the data. Hopefully someone else is able to make something out of it. I recorded the command which enables the numpad and the command to disable it. However, there are some more interactions which seem to happen regularly. If anything else is needed I will be happy to try to provide the data. ** Attachment added: "ProbeLog.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1810183/+attachment/5476323/+files/ProbeLog.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1810183 Title: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1810183/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1813441] Re: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking time out of what I'm sure is a very busy schedule to educate poor little me, who is so ignorant that I've only been working on open source and commercial software for over 30 years and using Linux since the early days of Slackware and at one point had submitted more Linux bug reports to Red Hat than literally any other account in bugzilla, about what a "show- stopper" bug is. [Bug 1919008] Re: 'Extract here' for .zip files not working as intended.
Assuming that it's Ubuntu you're using and not a flavour I've assigned the bug to file-roller. Try running apport-collect 1919008 in a terminal and see what data gets added to the bug report. [Bug 1813441] Re: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications
@dundir Maybe you're right, I don't know. I just tried to do what I believed is best for Ubuntu, the distro I've been using since 2008 or so: to speak out giving my feedback, hoping it will be heard by the right people. If things won't change I'll look elsewhere, clearly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1813441 Title: Can no longer drag and drop files between desktop and applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons/+bug/1813441/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1919044] [NEW] Dell Inspiron 7567 Freezes/Hangs Randomly
Public bug reported: Hi, I am running ubuntu 20.04 LTS on my laptop and have had this issue of the computer freezing ever since I installed this OS. However, the issue has come up when I set max_cstate=5; so I believe that the issue is caused when the processor enters a cstate between 4 and 5. The downside of this workaround is the degradation of battery life (it does not last for 1/4th the usual time). [Bug 1863434] Re: 20.04 grub menu not visible
@GD: They do look like aspects of the same problem . . . a problem that is "unique" to ubuntu's handling of grub, which for most single boot users it "doesn't matter" . . . but for multi-boot users . . . it does. Just means to me that "ubuntu" flavors are being whittled down in number . . . .
