[Bug 1933796] [NEW] resume from suspend while connected to power results in roaring fans
Public bug reported: since upgrade to ubuntu 20.10 my thinkpad x1 carbon gen5 resumes from suspend with a roaring fan. i have to make sure to start the resume while the power cord is not connected, let it wake up fully and only then connect the power cord. this is quite an annoying regression, still persisting in ubuntu 21.04, since there is no way to calm the fan noise except to do a complete shutdown and power on cycle (reboot still keeps the fan at max). [Bug 1933789] Re: kubuntu impish daily qa-test install (manual sda1) - other system kernel panics
I re-ran the install into the other partition and HAD NO ISSUES at all. Both installs booted & were as expected. It's highly probable that the KERNEL PANIC was a pre-existing condition on the box.. (I need to know how to get a dump of all my reports from iso.qa.ubuntu.com so I can search for my prior install to the box.. I have ~25 boxes I use... there is a UF post asking for help on that, but if anyone reading knows how - I'd appreciate help in making use of the iso.qa.ubu.com API!) I thus think this report is of NO VALUE and am tempted to flip to 'invalid'... but for now anyway I'll leave it as incomplete. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933789 Title: kubuntu impish daily qa-test install (manual sda1) - other system kernel panics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1933789/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1933788] Re: post qa-test install, adjusting displays to match setup & display becomes blocky mess
A subsequent reboot and the screen was as expected, the blocky-glitches on my-left-display were gone... System appeared normal and exactly as expected. I also re-ran the install, this time into the other partition, and NO ISSUES occurred this time.. I can't see that I did anything different, as the displays are by default in the correct position, and all I change is the portrait-left tilt, which requires no guess work in KDE/Kubuntu as it's selected by picture and I hit apply. Either WAY what I consider an identical install (same box, just different partition using the same daily ISO) and THE ISSUE DID NOT RE- OCCUR ! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933788 Title: post qa-test install, adjusting displays to match setup & display becomes blocky mess To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1933788/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1933748] Re: Gnome wifi menu items jumping up and down make clicking risky
I think the main issue here is the erratic wifi reception, so that's a kernel bug (or hardware or environmental). The GUI design is understandably annoying in this case, but it's of secondary concern and I can't find evidence of other people having the same problem. So low priority for gnome-shell. If you'd like to discuss the design further with the GNOME developers then please open a new issue at: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues But I suggest the most important thing here is to progress as a kernel bug, so please run the following command on the affect system to collect more information: apport-collect 1933748 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933748 Title: Gnome wifi menu items jumping up and down make clicking risky To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1933748/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If it's a crash then please: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. [Bug 1933771] [NEW] Bluetooth headset random disconnects AX200
Public bug reported: Using several different bluetooth headsets I find that the Bluetooth functionality of the built-in AX200 module of my motherboard keeps randomly disconnecting. I found that this has been fixed in recent Linux firmware updates, but I am not sure that fix has landed yet in Ubuntu Hirsute. Herewith I am posting the link to exactly the issue I am having: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues/1155 And the Linux Firmware commit that resolves this: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit/?id=73144e02dcff54529ab42d951de682740d204180 A related Fedora bug: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-93247f3274 It's difficult to relate the upstream kernel version firmware version in which this was fixed (linux-firmware-20210511) to the version of the linux-firmware Ubuntu package (for me). Perhaps someone can comment on whether this has been merged in. I am still experiencing disconnects with 1.197.1 at least. -- Description:Ubuntu 21.04 Release:21.04 linux-firmware: Installed: 1.197.1 Candidate: 1.197.1 I expected: Bluetooth headset to remain connected What happened: Bluetooth headset connects, then randomly disconnects and reconnects while playing media ** Affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933771 Title: Bluetooth headset random disconnects AX200 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1933771/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1918936] Re: ipset does NSS lookups even if ports are numeric
Apologies, can we update it to using the attached patch? It includes the fix by Jozsef from upstream: """ Fix patch "Parse port before trying by service name" The patch broke parsing service names: number parsing failures are hard errors which erase data, thus making impossible to parse input as a string. Fix it by enabling soft (warning) failures in the case of port number parsing. [Bug 1933758] [NEW] Display resolution not properly identifying in Ubuntu 21.04
Public bug reported: OK I am using Ubuntu 21.04 on a Raspberry pi 4 model B 4GB ram.My Monitor is LG Flatron E1942 with a resolution of 1366x768,It's a VGA monitor so I am using an HDMI to VGA converter to connect it with the monitor. This resolution is not automatically detected by Ubuntu, but it worked with Raspbian and Kali Linux. Therefore I edited the config.txt file and added these following lines hdmi_group=2,hdmi_mode=39 and hdmi_cvt=1366 768 60 3 0 0 1 otherwise the display will go blank, after editing this the monitor used to work with Ubuntu 20 (but still was not perfect,it got some black vertical lines in gnome but it worked perfectly fine with KDE-plasma) but after upgrading it to 21.04 this configuration doesn't work anymore. So at this point how the monitor work is like is this: 1)If a turn on pi with monitor connected to it the boot menu and raspberry pi rainbow colors shows up,but the screen goes black once it enters gnome desktop. 2)If I connect the monitor only after the pi enters gnome. The monitors shows up with a weird resolution(1280x720) but goes black if I open settings. 3)If I connect the monitor after the pi enters gnome. The monitors shows up with a weird resolution(1280x720) and I use xrandr in terminal to set resolution "again to 1280x720",at this point I can open settings and change the resolution to 1360x768.Once I set it to 1360x768 the display is perfectly aligned,(I want this resolution every time I boot up without doing all these adventures) I have to repeat this step 3 every time I boot up the pi otherwise the screen goes blank. Kindly fix this bug. [Bug 1933028] Re: Power supply disconnection not recognized on Dell XPS 13 9310 w/5.10 OEM kernel
This problem exists in all kernels I have tried newer than 5.7, including 5.11 HWE-Edge and several mainlines, including 5.12.x and 5.13.x (RC), as well as 5.10 OEM. There was a problem identical to this reported at upower (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/upower/-/issues/126), but it was supposedly fixed with a kernel commit (https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=992a60ed0d5e312ce9a485c9e12097ac82ae4b3e). I'm still seeing the bug, however. Everything in the description in the thread of comments at upower is what I am seeing to the letter. If the laptop finishes POST and loads GRUB with the power disconnected, upower will report the power supply state as offline from there forward, though then the desktop environment responds correctly to power state changes. If it finishes POST and loads GRUB with power connected, it reports the power online from there forward, and that does prevent the desktop environment from detecting power state changes. This issue was also present in a live session of Manjaro I tried with 5.10. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/upower/-/issues #126 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/upower/upower/-/issues/126 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933028 Title: Power supply disconnection not recognized on Dell XPS 13 9310 w/5.10 OEM kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-oem-5.10/+bug/1933028/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi Dan, I second your opinion and will also second your issue added to the Gnome project. As a 15+ year Ubuntu user it has always surpriosed me that in Software the search was hidden; the only reason I open Software, is to find some program to install. Since I know my way, it never bothered me enough to actually file a ticket. Until today, as it should be my responsibility too, to contribute to the open source projects.
