[Bug 1942894] [NEW] [SRU] libreoffice 7.1.6 for hirsute
Public bug reported: [Impact] * LibreOffice 7.1.6 is in its sixth bugfix release of the 7.1 line: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/7.1#7.1.6_release * Version 7.1.5 is currently released in hirsute. For a list of fixed bugs compared to 7.1.5 see the list of bugs fixed in the release candidates of 7.1.6 (that's a total of 44 bugs): https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.1.6/RC1#List_of_fixed_bugs https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Releases/7.1.6/RC2#List_of_fixed_bugs * Given the nature of the project, the complexity of the codebase and the high level of quality assurance upstream, it is preferable to SRU a minor release rather than cherry-pick selected bug fixes. [Testing] * Upstream testing. Bugs fixed upstream typically include unit/regression tests, and the release itself is extensively exercised (both in an automated manner and manually). * A recent set of upstream's automated jenkins testing can be found here: https://ci.libreoffice.org/job/gerrit_71/1392/ * More information about the upstream QA testing can be found here: * Automated tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Automated_Tests * Automated UI tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/UITests * Regression tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Regression_Tests * Feature tests https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Testing/Feature_Tests * Launchpad testing. The libreoffice packages include autopkgtests that were run and verified as passing. * [amd64] https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/results/autopkgtest-hirsute-libreoffice-libreoffice-prereleases/hirsute/amd64/libr/libreoffice/20210906_131334_4d046@/log.gz * [arm64] ... * [armhf] ... * [ppc64el] https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/results/autopkgtest-hirsute-libreoffice-libreoffice-prereleases/hirsute/ppc64el/libr/libreoffice/20210906_142807_b64b1@/log.gz * [s390x] https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/results/autopkgtest-hirsute-libreoffice-libreoffice-prereleases/hirsute/s390x/libr/libreoffice/20210906_135619_2360e@/log.gz * General smoke testing of all the applications in the office suite were carried out by going through the manual testplan as documented by: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Process/Merges/TestPlans/libreoffice [Regression Potential] * A minor release with a total of 44 bug fixes always carries the potential for introducing regressions, even though it is a bugfix-only release, meaning that no new features were added, and no existing features were removed. * A combination of autopkgtests and careful smoke testing as described above should provide reasonable confidence that no regressions sneaked in. ** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Rico Tzschichholz (ricotz) Status: New ** Affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu Hirsute) Importance: High Assignee: Rico Tzschichholz (ricotz) Status: New ** Also affects: libreoffice (Ubuntu Hirsute) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu Hirsute) Assignee: (unassigned) => Rico Tzschichholz (ricotz) ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Rico Tzschichholz (ricotz) ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu Hirsute) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1942894 Title: [SRU] libreoffice 7.1.6 for hirsute To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1942894/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1942884] Re: qemu-riscv64-static: missing auxilliary variables
Hi Heinrich, while the report seems fine to me that isn't a bug but a feature request and this one in particular isn't one that Ubuntu would usually develop/carry on its own - instead we'd usually contact upstream and integrate the solution once available. I've checked qemu git and the issue tracker but there was no recent issue / commit that would have covered this (the closest were some changes to the init code for BSD, but not what we want) to chime in or backport. Therefore I think the best way forward would be to report this to upstream [1] and depending when it is added there we can consider just picking it up via a merge or if we want to also backport it to some releases. Once you reported it there let us link the issue here so that it is more easy to track. P.S. If I misunderstood you and you have or know about a patch that achieves this then let us know and we can help driving it to upstream discussions and then the same aforementioned path from there. [Bug 1942695] Re: DeskTop freezes for up to 5 seconds the first keystroke on Gnome terminal after boot.
Hi Juergh, This freezing happens just after any boot (or reboot), only once. All other windows (tasks) freezes for up to 5 seconds, even System Monitor freezes too. If I boot my desktop or notebook 5 times a day it will freeze 1 time per boot on each equipament, only the first terminal session. You may think what a diference 5 seconds makes? But every day for years??? For me it is a bug, and if not, someone could explain me what happens. I very sure, if you use ubuntu, you can reproduce this issue. As I said it happens on Ubuntu 20.04, 20.10, 21.04, 21.10 and Pop_OS 21.04. RPI4 and Intel Core I5. Using Raspberry PI OS and Debian no issue. On RPI4 I installed "impish-preinstalled-desktop-arm64+raspi.img.xz" from ubuntu daily build for 21.10 and same way for 21.04 and 20.10. Only 20.04 I've installed server and then desktop. [Bug 1942215] Re: OOPs on boot: invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI
It may be be worth re-writing the check as follows to avoid underflow wrap: if (walk_state->num_operands < 1 || walk_state->num_operands >= ARRAY_SIZE(walk_state->operands) + 1) { ACPI_ERROR((AE_INFO, "Illegal number of operands 0x%X for op_type 0x%X", walk_state->num_operands - 1, op_type)); status = AE_AML_BAD_OPCODE; goto cleanup; } Note: if a fix is sent upstream they will nack-it on the ARRAY_SIZE() macro because the ACPCIA core does not support this macro and the code is derived from that code base. [Bug 1942394] Re: [MIR] mdevctl 1.0.0 (rust switch)
dh_golang adds misc:Built-Using via `go list -f`. 1. on the target binaries, deriving "{{ range .Deps }}". 2. And then from all Deps deriving the filenames 3. and then it tracks down the package that owns the files => That then makes the list for Built-Using That does not seem to exist for Rust yet. The build-cache [1] has plenty of information on the build. Hopefully we might be able to derive somiething from there. rlibs are part of the linking, think intermediate static libs [2][3]. Gladly I found that I do not have to re-invent the wheel. dh-cargo-built-using does what I'd expect. Along cargo install it dh_cargo runs this already. The current format in d/control for this seems to be Built-Using: ${cargo:Built-Using} XB-X-Cargo-Built-Using: ${cargo:X-Cargo-Built-Using} That might follow the debate in golang to not use Built-Using for the libraries as it already splits compiler (still useful for the potential ABI issues) but puts the libs in an extra non-standard field. I've added this to mdevctl so that we can continue to use this as test-example for potential e.g. britney extensions to probe component mismatches based on it. [Bug 1942394] Re: [MIR] mdevctl 1.0.0 (rust switch)
FYI (mostly a note to myself I guess) about dynamic rust: Along the way in I found that rust seems to have dynamic libraries - see "dylib/cdylib" in [2]. [1] shows -C prefer-dynamic target-feature=-crt-static" which could be our usual build style for a distro making dependencies and code-resuage through dynamic libs "normal". But before I could cheer I found that: - One argument against it that I found is that two dynamic libs that use the same (static) rlib can not work together. So it would have to be make all or nothing dynamic. (That would be ok I guess) - Another I've quckly found is that ABI isn't fixed and thereby a compiler change between a rebuild of either component could break things. (This breaks the camels back) [1]: https://rust-lang.github.io/rfcs/0404-change-prefer-dynamic.html [2]: https://doc.rust-lang.org/reference/linkage.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1942394 Title: [MIR] mdevctl 1.0.0 (rust switch) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mdevctl/+bug/1942394/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: [Impact] This release contains both bug-fixes and new features and we would like to make sure all of our supported customers have access to those improvements. The most notable changes (besides usual bug-fixes) incoming in 0.103: - Add YAML generator and Keyfile parser for NetworkManager YAML backend - Add activation-mode parameter, needs systemd v248+ (LP: #1664844) - Add default routes as extension of gateway4 & gateway6 (LP: #1756590) - Add io.netplan.Netplan.Generate() DBus method - Changed the way of how unmanaged-devices are handled by NetworkManager - Improve integration test suite (LP: #1922126) See the changelog entry below for a full list of changes and bugs. [Test Plan] The following development and SRU process was followed: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NetplanUpdates Netplan contains an extensive integration test suite that is ran using the SRU package for each release. This test suite's results are available here: http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/n/netplan.io A successful run is required before the proposed netplan.io package can be let into -updates. + In addition to the autopkgtests, we want to make sure that a config + using the (legacy) gateway4/6 fields does not print a warning. + The netplan team will be in charge of attaching the artifacts and console output of the appropriate run to the bug.
