I think it makes more sense to use bug 1946499 to track the issue happening in Ubuntu 21.10. The patches in this bug landed two years ago, so it would be confusing to reopen it. ** No longer affects: gdebi (Ubuntu) ** Tags removed: impish -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1756238 Title: gdebi-gtk broken in 18.04 error: unable to read filedescriptor flags To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vte2.91/+bug/1756238/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1947481] Re: Ubuntu 21.10: Unable to suspend
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1947481/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1947484] [NEW] Ubuntu 21.10, 5.13.0-19. System freeze when power cable unplugged
Public bug reported: I'm using KDE Plasma on Ubuntu 21.10 with kernel 5.13.0-19. Recently, my laptop has been freezing upon unplugging the power cord. The sysrq keys do not work when this occurs. When I switch kernels, the problem does not occur. The following kernels do not freeze when I unplug the power cable. * kernel 5.14.12 from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.14.12/ * kernel 5.13.19 from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.13.19/ When I boot back into the 5.13.0-19 kernel, the problem recurs. [Bug 1793126]
Dear vaaydayaasra, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. [Bug 1947472] Re: Medion Akoya S15449: Touchpad key missing
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected impish ** Description changed: Hardware: Medion Akoya S15449 Ubuntu Budgie 21.10 budgie-desktop 10.5.3 Kernel: 5.13.0-19-generic The right "mouse button" of the touchpad is not working. It works in Windows. It works with the same Ubuntu Budgie version running in a VirtualBox. It works with an external mouse connected via USB. But it does not work on a stand-alone Ubuntu Budgie 21.10 with the built-in touchpad. I suspect this bug is related to a known kernel bug: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213031 because with previous kernel versions both touchpad and keykoard didn't work at all with any Linux on the Medion Akoya S15449. + --- + ProblemType: Bug + ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu70 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: buth 1014 F pulseaudio + CasperMD5CheckResult: pass + CurrentDesktop: Budgie:GNOME + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.10 + InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-10-16 (0 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Budgie 21.10 "Impish Indri" - Release amd64 (20211012) + MachineType: MEDION S15449 + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcFB: 0 i915drmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.13.0-19-generic root=UUID=5dbb10f5-fce0-4cd7-a1f9-b6d787b5fe9b ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.13.0-19.19-generic 5.13.14 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-5.13.0-19-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-5.13.0-19-generic N/A + linux-firmware 1.201 + Tags: impish + Uname: Linux 5.13.0-19-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin lxd plugdev sambashare sudo + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 11/24/2020 + dmi.bios.release: 5.19 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends International, LLC. + dmi.bios.version: 209 + dmi.board.asset.tag: Default string + dmi.board.name: M15T + dmi.board.vendor: MEDION + dmi.board.version: Default string + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Default string + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: MEDION + dmi.chassis.version: Default string + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInternational,LLC.:bvr209:bd11/24/2020:br5.19:svnMEDION:pnS15449:pvrDefaultstring:skuML-23000830030870:rvnMEDION:rnM15T:rvrDefaultstring:cvnMEDION:ct10:cvrDefaultstring: + dmi.product.family: Akoya + dmi.product.name: S15449 + dmi.product.sku: ML-230008 30030870 + dmi.product.version: Default string + dmi.sys.vendor: MEDION ** Attachment added: "AlsaInfo.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947472/+attachment/5533551/+files/AlsaInfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947472 Title: Medion Akoya S15449: Touchpad key missing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1947472/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1947476] [NEW] Clicking the "Trash" entry in the dock shows both Files and Trash icon as open until the dock refreshes
Public bug reported: If you click the "Trash" icon in the dock, the Trash entry in Files opens, but a Files icon also spawns in the dock, and it appears as if both the Trash and Files icons associate with the same Trash window in Files. [Bug 1947471] Re: Consistently crashes when loading The Lounge
** Description changed: When trying to load an instance of The Lounge (a webapp IRC client) Web will either: 1. Show the loading message in the status at the bottom of the screen for a minute or so but then declare that the page is unresponsive. 2. Show a screen which claims that the tab crashed. This is a regression since 21.04. I have also verified that this does not happen with the Flatpak version (in the main Flathub repository) and that it does happen on a clean install. To reproduce: 1. Make a fresh install of Ubuntu 21.10 2. Install the epiphany-browser package 3. Navigate to an instance of The Lounge e.g. https://demo.thelounge.chat/ 4. Observe as one of the previous two things happens. + + + Package version: 41.0-1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947471 Title: Consistently crashes when loading The Lounge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/epiphany-browser/+bug/1947471/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1947470] [NEW] nvidia-kernel-source-470 470.74-0ubuntu1: nvidia kernel module failed to build
Public bug reported: I was doing a distro upgrade from 21.04 to 21.10, then when it arrived to the nvidia packages the install broke and I later figured out that it was because on my system cc points to clang. Granted, apparently gcc is needed instead for the compilation process (and I got it to work by changing cc to gcc in update-alternatives), but I think a more explicit error message should have been shown (for example good cmake build systems do warn the user if an incompatible compiler is being used) instead of entirely breaking the upgrade process and leaving me to finish everything manually using the terminal. The upgrade tool should have checked the compiler that is being used and temporarily set it to gcc for the nvidia driver. [Bug 1947467] [NEW] gome 40 wayland-session exiting fullscreen doesn't restore original size & position
Public bug reported: Switching applications between normal and fullscreen got slower and also it won't remember position and size of the window on exiting fullscreen compared to gnome 3.x. I can also confirm this on a 20.04 installation with gnome 40 installed, that this is a degradation for gnome-shell 40 on wayland sessions. Xorg session is working fine. I've tested this with - firefox (F11 to enter/exit fullscreen) - YouTube videos - eog On going to fullscreen it often looses focus, and on exit the window just gets resized to the full monitor resolution. Rolling back my 20.04 machine to gnome 3.36 will make this work again under wayland. Considered that gnome 40 is the default for 21.10 and also wayland is the default, I hope this get's investigated and a fix is found before 20.04 is EOL. [Bug 1946969] Re: ibus-x11 does not start automatically
Hi Gunnar, > New proposal in this PPA: Many many thanks, confirmation and new patch. I tried it on 21.10, and works great. > Also, can someone please make the bug description 'SRU compatible': I updated description. ** Description changed: + [Impact] + + This is bugfix SRU. + + The mainly problem is user cannot input Japanese language with + IBus/Mozc. + + One of the causes is Xwayland will not start on 21.10. + If there is no Xwayland process, gnome-shell/mutter will drop "--xim" + option of ibus-daemon and ibus-x11 process doesn't start. + + For reasons unknown, IBus/Mozc does not work as a result. + + Essentially, it should be fixed so that it works without Xwayland + and ibus-x11, but it takes time to investigate, so we will workaround + it by forcing Xwayland to start by xrefresh command. + + + [Test Plan] + + 1. run Ubuntu 21.10 installer + 2. select Japanese language and keyboard + 3. finish to install and reboot + 4. login and complete gnome-initial-setup + 5. apply the mozc SRU and reboot + 6. login + 7. press Windows key + Space key and select Japanese (Mozc) + 8. startup gedit + 9. press Hankaku/Zenkaku key + + If you can input Japanese language, then test is ok. + + + [Where problems could occur] + + * Only affects to mozc installed machine, it is mainly Japanese user's machine. + * The worst case is that those user cannot input Japanese language if the update is invalid. + * However current 21.10 is already same state. + + + [Original description] + ibus-x11 does not start automatically due to Xwayland on demand by default. IBus user does not input any cjkv languages before start to ibus-x11 or xwayland process. Steps to reproduce: 1. run Ubuntu 21.10 installer 2. select Japanese language 3. finish to install and reboot 4. login 5. reboot 6. login 7. push Windows key + Space key and select Japanese (Mozc) 8. run gedit 9. push Hankaku/Zenkaku key Expected results: show any Japanese characters Actual results: input any alphabetical key which I push observation: This may be mutter's matter. Xwayland on demand by default https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/1673 workaround: 1. run gnome-terminal and run command "ibus-daemon -rxd" 2. run any xwayland application like Libreoffice 3. use X session 4. restart IBus automatically when log in exaple: $ sudo editor /etc/xdg/autostart/ibus-autostart.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=ibus-autostart Exec=sh -c 'if [ "${IM_CONFIG_CHECK_ENV}" = "1" ] && [ "${XDG_SESSION_TYPE}" = "wayland" ] && [ "${XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP}" = "ubuntu:GNOME" ] || [ "${XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP}" = "GNOME" ]; then ibus-daemon -rxd true; fi' TryExec=ibus-daemon Type=Application -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946969 Title: ibus-x11 does not start automatically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mozc/+bug/1946969/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

reproduced again with fresh notebook boot, dm prompt display fine, but after choosing login and session type(wayland) and password, display goes black with white flashes (either horizontal or vertical). after booting old 5.11 kernel, which works fine in wayland session, restart with 5.13 kernel, also works fine. Apparently some display initialization is missing ** Summary changed: - wayland black screen with white flashes, display corruption, kernel 5.13, when returning from sleep + wayland black screen with white flashes, display corruption, kernel 5.13 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947453 Title: wayland black screen with white flashes, display corruption, kernel 5.13 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1947453/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1947455] Re: sub sub domain names not properly resolved
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1947455/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
