Re: [Bug 1523100] Re: Alsa not detecting internal microphone [ALC255] (Realtek)

2021-11-05 Thread Anuj Upadhyay
Hi,

I tried setting options snd-hda-
  intel model=alc255-acer, and it worked for me after a reboot.

Let me know if it works for anyone else

[Bug 1949959] [NEW] Please sync meson 0.60.1-1 to impish fixing various FTBFS

2021-11-05 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Public bug reported:

TL;DR_ I think our Delta is present in 0.60.1-1 and we should sync it.

--- details ---

I fond an issue with DPDK builds but it might affect potentially many
others as well.

Example build fails with:
ar: `x' cannot be used on thin archives.

Seems this behavior is caused by:
https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/pull/9294
This broke my build but also many others it seems, so it was reverted in 0.60.1
https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/commit/52c28eb962655b6fa71e71d521db14576d4f2ccb

Right now we have:
meson | 0.60.1-1 | unstable  | source, all
meson | 0.57.0+really0.56.2-0.1ubuntu1 | jammy/universe| source, all
meson | 0.60.0-1ubuntu1| jammy-proposed/universe   | source, all

So actually we should not even let 0.60.0-1ubuntu1 in if it causes
FTFBFSes.

The only Delta we have right now is:
 * Cherry-pick patch to prevent lots of GNOME packages from failing to build

That is https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/pull/9445
Which is fixed by:

https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/pull/9445/commits/022c0357ae4cd6c1d7e9a0f3a2672ba410a71fa2
This fix is in 0.60.1 as it is in Debian
$ git show pkg/ubuntu/jammy-devel:mesonbuild/modules/i18n.py | grep
..interpreterbase.decorators
from ..interpreterbase.decorators import ContainerTypeInfo, KwargInfo,
noPosargs, typed_kwargs, typed_pos_args
$ git show pkg/debian/sid:mesonbuild/modules/i18n.py | grep
..interpreterbase.decorators
from ..interpreterbase.decorators import ContainerTypeInfo, KwargInfo,
typed_kwargs, typed_pos_args

And btw 0.60.1 in Debian also has another breaks-gnome fix
  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=998124
Which is another +1 on syncing 0.60.1 in preference to the current one in
-proposed.

[Bug 1949677] Re: Vendor logo does not display in correct ratio on external monitor as it have different ratio than internal on

2021-11-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I'm not sure this /should/ be fixed.

We don't want Plymouth to drive separate displays differently (unless it
already does?) because that's double the render load, which is too much
for software rendering.

We could implement the fix suggested in comment #12, but upstream might
not like it for good reason. If some user has a monitor accidentally
turned off and plymouth is stuck then they should be able to turn it on
halfway through and plymouth should be outputting to it.

If it was my machine I would just search through the monitor's own OSD
menu and find the setting that enables use of correct aspect ratios for
non-native modes. ;)

[Bug 1949889] Re: Unable to build net/reuseport_bpf and other tests in ubuntu_kernel_selftests on Bionic with make command

2021-11-05 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  With 4.15 kernel, not all binary files inside a subtest directory in
  tools/testing/selftests of a kernel tree can be built with command:

- make TARGETS=$subtest
+ make TARGETS=$subtest

  For example, the following binaries in net directory won't be built:
-  * reuseport_bpf
-  * reuseport_bpf_cpu
-  * reuseport_dualstack
-  * reuseaddr_conflict
-  * reuseport_bpf_numa
+  * reuseport_bpf
+  * reuseport_bpf_cpu
+  * reuseport_dualstack
+  * reuseaddr_conflict
+  * reuseport_bpf_numa

  They can only be build with:

- make TARGETS=net run_tests
+ make TARGETS=net run_tests

  However, this will also start all of the tests in this subset and it's
  is not ideal for the granularity improvement, in which we will want to
  run tests one-by-one.

  [Fix]
  1. 14f1889f selftests: Fix loss of test output in run_kselftests.sh
  2. 44f01352 selftests: Makefile set KSFT_TAP_LEVEL to prevent nested TAP
headers
  3. 8ce72dc3 selftests: fix headers_install circular dependency
  4. 27d79a2b selftests: fix bpf build/test workflow regression when
KBUILD_OUTPUT is set
  5. e2e88325 selftests: vm: Fix test build failure when built by itself

- The 2nd needs to be backported with some context adjustment.
- The 3rd and 4th patch would need to be applied with -C2, the other two
- can be cherry-picked for Bionic.
+ The 1st and 5th patch can be cherry-picked. The 2nd needs to be
+ backported with some context adjustment (can be applied with git -cp
+ but not git am -C2). The 3rd and 4th patch would need to be applied
+ with -C2.

- The third patch (8ce72dc3) is the fix for this issue. The 4th
- (27d79a2b) and the 5th (e2e88325) patches are included here as they
- have been marked as a fix for 8ce72dc3.
+ The third patch (8ce72dc3) is the fix for this issue. To get it
+ applied more easily we will need the first two.
+
+ The 4th (27d79a2b) and the 5th (e2e88325) patches are included here as
+ they have been marked as a fix for 8ce72dc3. Since we don't use
+ KBUILD_OUTPUT and the vm test, I think the risk of adding these two is
+ pretty low.

  [Test]
  Tested on a baremetal node "glameow" with 4.15.0-159-generic, the test
  cases number and results are identical before and after applying this
  change (compared side-by-side).

  Please find attachment in the bug report for the test result.

  [Where problems could occur]
  As this is just tested with generic Bionic 4.15 kernel on a bare-metal
  system, it's is possible to see other issues on different variants. If
  this change is incorrect it will cause issue to our automated-testing
  and regression-testing, but it won't affect the real kernel
  functionality.

[Bug 1949889] Re: Unable to build net/reuseport_bpf and other tests in ubuntu_kernel_selftests on Bionic with make command

2021-11-05 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Test report before applying this patchset. Note that empty lines (or
empty lines with "-") has been added to make it easier to run vimdiff.

** Tags added: 4.15 bionic

** Tags added: ubuntu-kernel-selftests

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  With 4.15 kernel, not all binary files inside a subtest directory in
tools/testing/selftests of a kernel tree can be built with command:
    make TARGETS=$subtest

  For example, the following tests in net directory won't be built:
   * reuseport_bpf
   * reuseport_bpf_cpu
   * reuseport_dualstack
   * reuseaddr_conflict
   * reuseport_bpf_numa

  They can be build with:
    make TARGETS=net run_tests

  However, this will also start all of the tests in this subset, which is
  not ideal for the granularity improvement.

  [Fix]
  1. 14f1889f selftests: Fix loss of test output in run_kselftests.sh
  2. 44f01352 selftests: Makefile set KSFT_TAP_LEVEL to prevent nested TAP
headers
  3. 8ce72dc3 selftests: fix headers_install circular dependency
  4. 27d79a2b selftests: fix bpf build/test workflow regression when
KBUILD_OUTPUT is set
  5. e2e88325 selftests: vm: Fix test build failure when built by itself

  The 2nd needs to be backported with some context adjustment.
  The 3rd and 4th patch would need to be applied with -C2, the other two can be
cherry-picked for Bionic.

  The third patch (8ce72dc3) is the fix for this issue. The 4th (27d79a2b)
  and the 5th (e2e88325) have been marked as a fix for 8ce72dc3.

  [Test]
- Tested on a baremetal node "glameow" with 4.15.0-159-generic, the test cases
number and results are identical before and after applying this change.
+ Tested on a baremetal node "glameow" with 4.15.0-159-generic, the test cases
number and results are identical before and after applying this change
(compared side-by-side).
+
+ Please find attachment in the bug report for the test result.

  [Where problems could occur]
  As this is just tested with generic Bionic 4.15 kernel on a bare-metal
system, it's is possible to see other issues on different variants. If this
change is incorrect it will cause issue to our automated-testing and
regression-testing, but it won't affect the real kernel functionality.

[Bug 1948817] Re: Merge ruby-mysql2 0.5.3-3 from Debian

2021-11-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package ruby-mysql2 - 0.5.3-3ubuntu1

---
ruby-mysql2 (0.5.3-3ubuntu1) jammy; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #1948817). Remaining changes:
+ debian/patches/skip-more-tests.patch: skip a couple more tests due to
  behavioural change in MySQL 8.0.24.
+ MySQL 8.0 build fixes.
  - d/p/mysql-8.0.patch
  - d/start_mysqld_and_run.sh
+ d/start_mysqld_and_run.sh: Fixes FTBFS with MySQL 5.7
  * Dropped changes, merged in Debian:
+ Skip randomly failing test
  The test checks that server resources are freed when a statement
  is closed, but this doesn't always happen immediately, causing
  random failures.
  * Reworked the start_mysqld_and_run.sh script to set up a non-root DB user,
fixing the build when $USER != root.
  * d/p/skip-more-tests.patch: Skip another test that is unreliable on heavy
builder load.

ruby-mysql2 (0.5.3-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Team upload.
  * Skip another randomly failing test.

ruby-mysql2 (0.5.3-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Fix connection with test server (Closes: #978251)
- debian/start_mysqld_and_run.sh: run server as $USER, and not as root.
  It seems that for some reasons mariadb no longer accepts connections
  as root.
- debian/start_mysqld_and_run.sh: fallback to killing the server at the
  end, if the shutdown command fails. This avoids leaving the server
  running forever in case something goes wrong with the shutdown
  command.
- Add debian/patches/fix-configuration.patch to adjust the connection
  configurations used by the tests.
  * Add patch to skip test that makes assumptions about the server side

ruby-mysql2 (0.5.3-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Utkarsh Gupta ]
  * Add salsa-ci.yml

  [ Debian Janitor ]
  * Update standards version to 4.4.1, no changes needed.
  * Bump debhelper from old 11 to 12.
  * Set debhelper-compat version in Build-Depends.
  * Set upstream metadata fields: Repository, Repository-Browse.
  * Set upstream metadata fields: Bug-Database, Bug-Submit, Repository.
  * Update standards version to 4.5.0, no changes needed.

  [ Cédric Boutillier ]
  * [ci skip] Update team name
  * [ci skip] Add .gitattributes to keep unwanted files out of the source
package

  [ Utkarsh Gupta ]
  * Switch d/watch to point to g/h tarball
  * New upstream version 0.5.3
  * Refresh d/patches
  * Apply diff to fix FTBFS (Closes: #923727)
  * Add myself as an uploader
  * Remove unnecessary dependency on the Ruby interpreter
  * Bump debhelper-compat to 13
  * Fix package wrt cme
  * Apply wrap-and-sort

[Bug 1949677] Re: Vendor logo does not display in correct ratio on external monitor as it have different ratio than internal on

2021-11-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It's starting to look like this is a Plymouth bug/feature where it
applies the same resolution to all monitors:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/issues/119
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/plymouth/plymouth/-/issues/9

If true then that would make sense. Plymouth uses software rendering and
possibly can't afford to render multiple monitors separately.

[Bug 1949677] Re: Vendor logo does not display in correct ratio on external monitor as it have different ratio than internal on

2021-11-05 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. Those logs say the preferred mode is 1920x1080 so indeed you
will see some aspect distortion if that's referring to a 1920x1200
monitor...

Next we need to find out if either:

(a) the incorrect preferred mode is coming from the kernel; or

(b) plymouth is applying the preferred mode of the laptop panel to the
external monitor.

Please run 'drm_info' while only the external monitor is connected and
the laptop lid is still closed, and attach the output here. drm_info is
not in the archive until hirsute but it's a very simple program you
should be able to get running: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/drm-

[Bug 1949889] Re: Unable to build net/reuseport_bpf and other tests in ubuntu_kernel_selftests on Bionic with make command

2021-11-05 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
** Description changed:

  [Impact]
  With 4.15 kernel, not all binary files inside a subtest directory in
tools/testing/selftests of a kernel tree can be built with command:
    make TARGETS=$subtest

  For example, the following tests in net directory won't be built:
   * reuseport_bpf
   * reuseport_bpf_cpu
   * reuseport_dualstack
   * reuseaddr_conflict
   * reuseport_bpf_numa

- The 2nd, 3rd and 4th patch would need to be applied with -C1, the other
- two can be cherry-picked for Bionic.
+ The 2nd needs to be backported with some context adjustment.
+ The 3rd and 4th patch would need to be applied with -C2, the other two can be
cherry-picked for Bionic.

  The third patch (8ce72dc3) is the fix for this issue. The 4th (27d79a2b)
  and the 5th (e2e88325) have been marked as a fix for 8ce72dc3.

  [Test]
  Tested on a baremetal node "glameow" with 4.15.0-159-generic, the test cases
number and results are identical before and after applying this change.

[Bug 1949120] Re: Missing PPMTUD for ICMP and UDP when there are dedicated gateways

2021-11-05 Thread Frode Nordahl
Thank you for raising this issue, so just to confirm, OVN 20.03 already
does send ICMP type 3 (Destination Unreachable) code 4 (Fragmentation
needed and DF was set) [4] to instances in the cloud, informing the
client of the gateway MTU when the `gateway_mtu` flag is set on the LRP.

So the issue you are describing would only come into play if there are
machines connected directly to the provider network using a MTU > the
OVN LR MTU and/or a external to openstack router has MTU > the OVN LR
MTU on its L3 interface facing the provider network?

As mentioned in comment #37, the original test case is likely to pass in
3.36.9+ even without the patch correctly applied. So the new second test
case should be to verify that the patch is correctly applied.

[Bug 1946014] Re: ovn: Fail to build against OpenSSL 3.0

2021-11-05 Thread Frode Nordahl
Thank you for raising this issue!

I am unfortunately not able to reproduce this when building against
OpenSSL 3.0 locally and running the test suite. I have tried both on
amd64 and on s390x to rule out any architecture specific issue.

Looking at the latest Jammy PPA rebuild [0] amd64, arm64 and armhf are
successful while a inconsistent set of tests are being retried/failing
for ppc64el and s390x.

Could this be a case of tests becoming flaky under build farm load?
Would it be possible to retry the current failed builds [1][2] and see
if the test results change?

2021-11-05 Thread Akbarkhon Variskhanov
There are two glitches here:
1. Selecting the Appearance tab for the first time causes the Dock to disappear
briefly.
2. Toggling the "Auto-hide the Dock" setting causes the Dock (plus the Settings
icon) and the Application menu to flash and re-render.

Screencasts are attached below. Pay attention to the Dock (plus the
Settings icon) and the Application menu.

2021-11-05 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gsettings-desktop-schemas -
41.0-2ubuntu1

---
gsettings-desktop-schemas (41.0-2ubuntu1) jammy; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian. Remaining changes:
- Add ubuntu_lock-on-suspend.patch
- Drop obsolete Restore-peripheral-display-keys.patch
  * Dropped changes:
- debian/control.in: Drop extra Breaks not needed since 20.04 LTS

gsettings-desktop-schemas (41.0-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Julian Andres Klode ]
  * Break gnome-shell (<< 40) to avoid messing up workspace shortcuts
(LP: #1934644)

gsettings-desktop-schemas (41.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * debian/gsettings-desktop-schemas.gsettings-override:
Keep setting panel-main-menu to Alt-F1 for now.
We may drop this override after we finish uploading
GNOME 41 to Unstable. In default GNOME Shell,
Super or Super+S opens the Activities Overview.
Super+A opens the Show Applications view of the Overview.
Other desktops that use this gsettings key should create
their own key since GNOME may remove it in the future
now that it's been marked Deprecated.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 4.6.0

gsettings-desktop-schemas (40.0-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Team upload
  * Upload to unstable (transition: #992870)
