[Bug 1947860] Re: qemu-arm-static swallows the program name, and shifts all arguments left
Thanks for the check Daniel! Hi Seth, if you consider getting an RPI (or any other) cross-arch image chrooted or to run debootstrap is probably equally complex - and preference lies in what you do more often or already have around. But thanks for the hint on test alternatives. BTW - I have resolved the reported autopkgtest issue on casper, this is now ready to go once matured enough. Given the natural complexity of this I'm happy for every other testing feedback. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947860 Title: qemu-arm-static swallows the program name, and shifts all arguments left To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1947860/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Also, it doesn't seem you are using the default configuration of Fedora 33, where systemd-resolved is used. So, to fully understand the problem, you would have to provide how your system is configured. For example, with systemd-resolved, commonly /etc/resolv.conf would be symlinked to a file as explained in `man systemd-resolved`. In that case systemd- resolved will mostly ignore /etc/resolv.conf, and /etc/resolv.conf is commonly not used by glibc resolver (which -- depending on your configuration -- uses NSS modules to directly talk to systemd-resolved (`man nsswitch.conf`)). Thus the symlinked /etc/resolv.conf is mostly not used, but see how this works in `man systemd-resolved`. Anyway. You need to share how exactly your system is configured. Possibly, just collect a complete level=TRACE log that shows the issue. Read https://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/tree/contrib/fedora/rpm/NetworkManager.conf#n28 for hints about logging (and note the comment about private data in log files). It seems to me that in this case systemd-resolved should be in "consumer" mode and use the nameservers provided there (as stated in the fourth bullet point in the /etc/resolv.conf section of the systemd-resolved man page), but that doesn't seem to happen. If I use any of the other options listed in that manpage as link targets for /etc/resolv.conf, and connect to the VPN, name resolution for internal names still fails. systemd-resolved doesn't seem to learn about the new servers, so the stub resolver won't resolve those names, and they don't get added to /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf either. /var/run/NetworkManager/resolv.conf appears to be the only place where they show up. [Bug 1898005] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGABRT in st_bin_destroy: assertion failed: (priv->child == NULL) called from DesktopManager::_destroyDesktopIcons() [desktopManager.js:234]
Steve, IIRC this crash was fixed by *either* the gnome-shell or extension fix. So the original test case would fail only while *neither* of the two fixes were applied. The gnome-shell fix made the shell API more robust so as to protect itself from crashing in the presence of a buggy extension. The gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons fix corrects the buggy extension. This is still worthwhile because it fixes a sudden and unnecessary spike of memory and CPU usage from unthrottled timer duplication. That IIRC could still cause instability in the extension/shell based on my memory of testing a year ago. However I've tried stress testing both with and without the fix on focal today and can't see any practical difference in performance. Only technically we shouldn't declare the fix as "released" until the series file is corrected to apply the patch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1898005 Title: gnome-shell crashed with SIGABRT in st_bin_destroy: assertion failed: (priv->child == NULL) called from DesktopManager::_destroyDesktopIcons() [desktopManager.js:234] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1898005/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1950095] Re: [github] 20.04: Apt fails to download URLs with non-encoded querystrings
"minimal potential for causing regressions" is a big claim given I had to fix regressions in later commits like 149b23c2b9697bc262c0af1934c7a3f6114d903f and 2b0369a5d1673d9e40f2af4db7677b040a26ee58. There might be more, that is just what I remember directly. [Bug 1935770] Re: [Sound Output Built in Speaker to HDMI] No auto switch from Speaker to HDMI and back
Some times I do the following: I connect my laptop to a screen with HDMI cable and in the settings set audio output to the HDMI. Later I disconnect the HDMI cable without doing anything to the sound settings and turn off the PC. When I turn on the PC again it thinks that the sound should still go to the HDMI, even though it's no longer connected. Going in to the sound settings the Output Device drop-down is blank, so it obviously knows that the HDMI is disconnected, but it just doesn't make any sound. That's the main issue I have. Not switching to HDMI sound on connecting the HDMI might be the best default, I'm not sure, but at least you might have some other preference for where you want your sound to come from when you connect it. But when you disconnect, the sound can no longer come from the HDMI, so you never want it to keep to the HDMI output, you always want it to switch to something else. My intuition about what should happen when you connect HDMI: If the current output is trough built in speakers it should automatically switch to HDMI. If the current output is trough mini-jack or other output (meaning the person is using a headset or external speakers), it should keep the current setting and not switch to HDMI. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1935770 Title: [Sound Output Built in Speaker to HDMI] No auto switch from Speaker to HDMI and back To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1935770/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1917152] Re: File moved with Cut-Paste from a search filter still appears on original screen and if deleted disappears from new folder
It seems that search results are given by Tracker, which is a separate app dedicated to searching. This is a config option / design choice. To fix this, Nautilus would need to ping D-Bus that the file has moved, Tracker see's this event and updates it's cache and again notifies D-Bus that this event has happened. [Bug 1941752] Re: Regression: exiv2 0.27.3-3ubuntu1.5 makes Gwenview crash when opening images exported by darktable
This is not just darktable. I have files that work fine, while some other always crash. The only constant is that all files were created on a Nikon camera. Files that crash include some, but not all: Raw NEF; JPEGs created by processing NEF files on Windows using Nikon software; JPEGs created directly by camera. If I take a jpeg file that crashes, convert it to bmp or tiff, and try to open with gwenview, the file still crashes. That also points to the exiv bug. The problem is fixed in later versions of apt upstream, in Debian and Ubuntu releases. I cherry-picked the 4 commits [3] and provided a package for Focal in my PPA [2] which multiple users have reported (in [1]) solves the issue. It would be really good to get those patches included in 20.04 as an SRU. As the code is in later versions of apt and is focused on the URL encoding only it has minimal potential for causing regressions. [Bug 1950093] [NEW] xdg autostart doesn't work without additional packages not listed as dependencies
Public bug reported: Openbox by default attempts to start applications that have appropriate desktop files in /etc/xdg/autostart. It does this by executing xdg- autostart if it is present, and if not then openbox-xdg-autostart. xdg- autostart is in package obsession which is a recommended package for openbox. openbox-xdg-autostart is in package openbox itself, but it fails unless package python3-xdg is installed. The failure is relatively silent unless openbox-xdg-autostart is run separately on the command line. python3-xdg should probably be a suggested package, or perhaps more strongly recommended, or perhaps even an either/or with obsession since one of them is required for xdg autostart files to work. This isn't exactly the end of the world since many xdg autostart applications won't start for Openbox anyway. The openbox-session manpage also doesn't mention that desktop files from /etc/xdg/autostart will be run, so perhaps not many people will be surprised when they don't ** Affects: openbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1950093 Title: xdg autostart doesn't work without additional packages not listed as dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openbox/+bug/1950093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1950088] Re: jammy: noveau driver hangs for minutes when Firefox is started (live cd/usb, MacBookPro6, 2)
According to Apple Mac OS X info this hardware is as follows: MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010) CPU: 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5 RAM: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 GPU: Intel HD Graphics, 288 MB The hardware *also* has NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M connected (according to OS X self-diagnostics) via 16x PCIe and it has 256 MB of RAM (Mac OS X cannot tell if this is dedicated RAM or part of system RAM like with integrated intel graphics). I believe that the OS X automaticaly switches between these GPUs according to system needs. I would guess that this is also tried by Jammy livecd and it hangs. I guess for this old hardware, automatically turning off the NVIDIA GPU and using just the Intel Graphics could be a good option if the switching is not stable. According to /proc/cpuinfo the Linux kernel successfully run the CPU up to 3.1 GHz so CPU frequency control did work absolutely fine. All the above tests were done with jammy nightly build from date 2021-11-05 obtained here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntukylin/daily- live/current/ and I did write the ISO image to USB memory stick using Ubuntu "Startup Disk Creator" software. I know that some newer MacBooks no longer support booting from USB memory simply by holding down ALT while booting the computer but for this hardware that still appears to work just fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1950088 Title: jammy: noveau driver hangs for minutes when Firefox is started (live cd/usb, MacBookPro6,2) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1950088/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
