[Bug 1955704] Re: systemd/plymouth preventing reboot/shutdown

2021-12-26 Thread phm2f1alcw69
The report got assigned to systemd, since systemd is controlling the
whole startup and shutdown sequence. If there is some work to be done
fore plymouth as well, the respecting person taking care of that part
should be notified.

[Bug 1721614]

2021-12-26 Thread Alireza Haghshenas
I have the same problem:
Firefox 95.0.2 (64-bit)
Operating System: Fedora Linux 35
KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.89.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.15.10-200.fc35.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

Monitors:
Frame.work laptop (2256*1504@100%)
Dell 32"4k@150%

The right click menu in many pages including Google search results are
not shown, but are there somehow. So if I press escape to close the
invisible menu and right-click again and repeat this several times, the
context menu will eventually be shown.

[Bug 1955785] [NEW] camera stopped working on ideapad 5 after upgrade from linux-image-5.11.0-40 to linux-image-5.11.0-41

2021-12-26 Thread yuval aviel
Public bug reported:

Package: linux-image-5.11.0-41-generic
camera is not identified, for some reason, in version 41, but it is identified
on version 40 (and before).

Is it related to missing uvcvideo module??

[Bug 1955729] Re: Policy violation with respect to ensurepip

2021-12-26 Thread cetus
Ah ok, I see. Effectively, the python package is not intended for
direct end user consumption. If I understand correctly, it is provided
solely as a dependency of other packages in the distribution, or for
creating virtual environments for end users. I used to be dismissive of
python virtual environments; partly because one never knew what was the
right way to make them this week, and partly because of their reputation
as a tool to provide specific fixed module versions to applications that
would break if a newer version was installed. However, I agree that it
is a valid means for resolving the inherent conflict between
distribution packaging and pip, and a useful way of making python end-
user friendly, short of manually downloading and installing a fully
independent variant from the internet. And python3-venv is installable
via apt (if I correctly understand that this is currently the
recommended way of creating virtual environments).

I'd still prefer to see some explanation given whenever anything to do
with pip is invoked at the system level, as the policy requires,
including recommended ways to deal with it.

[Bug 1920248] Re: Anker Soundcore Life Q10 microphone not working

2021-12-26 Thread Colin Watson
I have a Soundcore Life Q30 headset and had a similar issue; I also
tried going down the ofono route and found it too much of a confusing
nightmare.

I ended up using the pulseaudio backport from
https://launchpad.net/~smoser/+archive/ubuntu/bluetooth/+packages and
also doing a local backport of bluez from impish, as well as the
/etc/pulse/system.pa and group membership changes from
https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/PulseAudio/Documentation/User/Bluetooth/#usingbluetoothwhenrunningpulseaudiointhesystemmode
(but not the rest of that page). I haven't tried carefully rolling bits
of this back to find out exactly whether all four of those changes are
really needed; I'm sure that at least the pulseaudio backport is needed,
though, since you definitely need the changes from
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/merge_requests/491.

With this, my headset mostly works for me, although I still sometimes
find that pulseaudio crashes when my phone is also connected to the same
headset, which results in everything confusingly switching back to the
internal speaker/microphone until I figure out what's going on and
disconnect my phone. Not ideal - from the crash, I think
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/merge_requests/617
may be related, though I haven't tried backporting that patch yet to see
if it helps.

Installing random backports is not for the faint of heart, so a more
sensible approach might be to try Ubuntu 21.10 (perhaps from a live USB
stick to start with, before committing to the upgrade). Everything I
had to backport to get things working was from there, so there's a good
chance it will work better.

[Bug 1955766] [NEW] Simple Scan gives no error when output filesystem fills up

2021-12-26 Thread Steve Pemberton
Public bug reported:

If the user tries to save the output of a scan to a filesystem that
doesn't have enough space, Simple Scan gives no error message. It
silently creates a truncated or empty file.

I don't know if this is relevant, but when I found this bug, I was
trying to save the scan to a mounted removable drive (a USB stick), and
I was creating a multi-page PDF.

[Bug 641155] Re: New experimental multiboot version of memtest86+ only sees 640K of memory

2021-12-26 Thread Fantu
today I did a fast test applying the "newer" multiboot patch I found
from coreboot repo
(https://review.coreboot.org/plugins/gitiles/memtest86plus/+/8cc1aeb540a02d9600491ca5fa799b7c8f25c363
based on Vladimir Serbinenko taken here), refreshed for 5.31b
(https://salsa.debian.org/debian/memtest86plus/-/commit/deed716beaefcd25dd676b291801df7421f1fbf0),
did also a small change to fix build fails
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/memtest86plus/-/commit/326577b966a18c7c743be36c82985f52c5155804

but testing it on one computer on multiboot entry memtest freeze always
at start, so seems another changes/fix are needed

if someone want test it:

[Bug 1955762] [NEW] total system freeze/lockup

2021-12-26 Thread Christoph Roeder
Public bug reported:

Probably related to this Bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-oem-5.6/+bug/1876567

My server gets totally unresponsive (keyboard, no network, num lock
doesn't work, ...), even sysresq does not work most of the times.

The Problem seems to be related with nfs clients accessing the server
and an windows 10 kvm with gpu passthrough is running.

The system does not even create an kdump or logs anything interesting in
journal which may give some hints.

Thank you in advance, hope we finally find a solution.

Sadly, this also is not a goot idea because of a zfs bug:

[Bug 1880246] Re: Java desktop application freezes with openjdk 8u252

2021-12-26 Thread Anaïs Huang
I met the same problem that Java apps with GUI (such as burp and arduino
IDE)froze quickly when I updated from 16.04 to 18.04. I have tried openJDK and
Oracle, 8, 11 and 17. And this bug can be reproduced on both ubuntu 18.04 and
20.04, both kernel 4.5 and 5.7.
Java programs with CLI only are not affected, such as bfg.
