[Bug 1970139] Re: VNC Connection doesn't work on arm64 (Raspberry Pi 4 8Gb) in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
As for the RDP connection problem, please provide enough information. If you have an updated system, then your FreeRDP build should contain the NTLM fixes. Jeremy afaik backported them to Ubuntu in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freerdp2/+bug/1968577. Meanwhile, FreeRDP-2.7.0 was released, and distros should update to that version. If you have your system updated (and therefore should have the NTLM fixes), then the issue is either you provided the wrong credentials or an error in the client. Without providing the information, which client and which client settings are used, there is nothing, that can be said here. Please the follow the official help: https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/sharing-desktop.html It contains a section about recommended clients and client settings. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970139 Title: VNC Connection doesn't work on arm64 (Raspberry Pi 4 8Gb) in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-remote-desktop/+bug/1970139/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1969752] Re: oss4-dkms '-mfloat-abi=hard' build failure
@vorlon oss4 is an ancient sound system platform that is rarely used nowdays, it would actually make sense to drop the support completely. Restricting the support to amd64-only seems a good compromise to fix the current build errors w/ modern toolchain, because of the -mfloat- abi=hard build option (that is blocking kernels promotions) and still provide a minimal support for this sound system. I think it's very unlikely to have users of this dkms outside of the amd64 world. [Bug 1970139] Re: VNC Connection doesn't work on arm64 (Raspberry Pi 4 8Gb) in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
To be honest, the issue description is insufficient and the crash file useless. The stacktrace does not contain any debug symbols and for the "sometimes shows screen garbage before disconnecting" part, a screenshot would be needed, because the screen content is not just garbage. It has a pattern, and that is a wrong DRM format modifier. It may not be obvious for the user, but developers don't have a glass ball in front of them to see what happens on the other side of the screen, so a screenshot can be super helpful. I found similar stacktraces in Ubuntus error tracker. Problem with Ubuntus error tracker is that a lot stacktraces cannot be retrieved and therefore leave only a single line of calls, where only the library name is shown. And this is also here the case. However, the issue could be fixed upstream and is fixed in the current master branch of g-r-d, due to kind help of a person in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/issues/96. Personally, I don't have an arm64 device, which is why this issue could never been detected. And without that help in form of testing patches and providing the stacktrace with debug symbols, the issue would still exist. The crash itself is kinda interesting, because it appears, that some instructions are completed in a different order on arm64. It was fixed in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/bdc8d63bddf2ebb0da97e9277267b7398e49710e and https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/b7b0597ba59072b718a78760c2732e64e080b4bf. Then, to the part, what is here referred to as 'garbled content': A screenshot for this is provided here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/issues/96#note_1435877 Without the screenshot, I wouldn't been able to have that modifier guess. So, please, for future reports provide screenshots for such things. The issue here is that g-r-d always expected explicit DRM format modifiers. However, it is an implicit modifier here. There is no such flag to indicate that and as a result the `DRM_FORMAT_MOD_INVALID` modifier is used to indicate an implicit modifier. It is a weird thing though: In a screencast, submitting this specific modifier means, that an implicit modifier is used, while graphics APIs use this to indicate an error. However, using `DRM_FORMAT_MOD_INVALID` as modifier was never a problem with other drivers, like Intel and so it was unnoticed. The issue was fixed in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/60244e96333fbeabfee9c1a0e5ce56590dbb313d and https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/d9923317f0b60621f0aeb219f4d10612a2178e63. I'll ask Jonas to push another release tag (might be 42.1.1). 42.1 was pushed saturday, but does not contain these fixes. Personally, I see this issue as severe, but I am not one, who can push tags in g-r-d. So, I can only ask Jonas to push one. In any case, Ubuntu can also build g-r-d from the master branch until commit https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/d9923317f0b60621f0aeb219f4d10612a2178e63 to push the fix to Ubuntu here. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/issues #96 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/issues/96 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970139 Title: VNC Connection doesn't work on arm64 (Raspberry Pi 4 8Gb) in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-remote-desktop/+bug/1970139/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1929209] Re: [i915] external monitor goes black for several seconds at a time, randomly
I ran into the same bug on the weekend as I tried to upgrade my monitor. In my case it was that Intel GPUs could not sustain a stable signal to a high-end monitor. Even though my setup was within range of HBR3, I could only maintain a stable DisplayPort HBR3 signal plugged it into an Nvidia card, not with Intel. With Intel the monitor would go black during large or rapid screen changes. Three possible workarounds come to mind: * Use DisplayPort or USB-C if available. They're more likely to achieve high bandwidth than HDMI, typically. * Use a lower refresh rate (worked in my case). * Ask developers to implement the "max bpc" connector property exposed by the i915 kernel driver. [Bug 1970039] Re: cannot disable Remote Desktop in Ubuntu 22.04
Yeah, this issue here is a duplicate of the bug mentioned in comment 6. Jeremy submitted a patch, which sufficiently fixed the issue in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/1286 (it should technically check for other aspects too), but for now it is sufficient. Follow-ups should use an upstream report or MR for this. Just to note: What people confuses here is the state of what the switch represents and therefore leads to the wrong conclusions above. Just because g-r-d is running, does not mean it listens on some ports for connections, nor that it starts any of the server backends (RDP or VNC). Before Jeremys change, the state in g-c-c represented, whether the g-r-d service is enabled and running. However, the backends have their own 'enabled' settings (default: false ('off')). Also, the RDP backend won't be started by g-r-d, when the server cert and private keyfile are missing. These are generated, when the switch in g-c-c is switched to 'on'. The reason, why this issue was not apparent initially was that due a recent systemd change, g-r-d did not start automatically, when the service was enabled. This was fixed in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-remote-desktop/-/commit/7f4ef31fd380dffc108e5c7f77c81fbaa271ec7b, but lead to this issue here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970039 Title: cannot disable Remote Desktop in Ubuntu 22.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-remote-desktop/+bug/1970039/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1970270] Re: LibreOffice localization is not working out of the box
** Description changed: Using Lubuntu 22.04 within a virtual machine made using virt-manager, KVM, and QEMU. When Lubuntu 22.04 is installed in a language other than English, the LibreOffice UI displays in English, despite the user's language choice. The issue can be worked around by running "sudo apt update" followed by "sudo apt install libreoffice-l10n-", where is replaced with the 2-character language code (for example, de or fr). This will cause LibreOffice to display in the correct language. I have tested using both German and French language options at install time - the problem exists in both scenarios. Reproducibility: 100% - Steps to reproduce: + Steps to reproduce (edited to be more precise): - 1: Create a new virtual machine as QEMU/KVM User session within virt-manager, using the Lubuntu 22.04 ISO from the official download page. - 2: When the live DVD boots up, start the installation process. - 3: At the first screen of the installation, select a language other than American English. - 4: Finish the installation using all the default options, and boot into the newly installed system. - 5: Open LibreOffice Writer. + 1: Open virt-manager. + 2: Add a connection to "QEMU User session". + 3: Create a new virtual machine under "QEMU User session". I set the OS as "Ubuntu 21.04", since that's the newest version of Ubuntu that my version of virt-manager supports. I gave the VM 20 GB of hard drive space, 4 GB of RAM, and 2 CPU cores. I didn't make any other customizations. + 4: Once the VM is running, select "Try or install Lubuntu" in the GRUB prompt. + 5: Once Lubuntu is done booting, double-click "Install Lubuntu 22.04". + 6: At the first screen of the installation, select a language other than American English. I tried using German and French, and they both reproduced the issue. + 7: Use the default keyboard settings for your chosen language. + 8: Use the "Erase disk" option when choosing where to install Lubuntu. + 9: Set your name as "User", your username as "user", your computer name as "user-germantest", and your password as "z". I also enabled automatic login here. + 10: Wait for the installation to finish, then reboot. + 11: Open LibreOffice Writer. Expected result: The UI should be displayed in the language selected at install time. Actual result: The UI displays in English, regardless of the language selected at install time. Additional notes: - I am using LibreOffice version 7.3.2. + I am using LibreOffice version 7.3.2 within the VM. I am using fully- + updated Ubuntu Studio 21.10 as the host OS. Prior to running "sudo apt update", there are no LibreOffice localization packages available in apt (as verified by doing "apt-cache search l10n"). After the update, the packages appear. I have not yet tested Ubuntu 22.04 for this problem, so I do not know if this applies to Ubuntu as a whole, or to Lubuntu alone. I do intend to test this in the near future. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970270 Title: LibreOffice localization is not working out of the box To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-meta/+bug/1970270/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry, I made a mistake in comment #5. The problem with Chrome is that it doesn't use Wayland by default so it won't have access to the whole Wayland screen, only to other Xwayland app windows. [Bug 1968506] Re: Xubutnu xfwm4 window tiling shortcuts not working as expected
It seems to me that these files in /etc/xdg are concatenated to create the user config, creating conflicting duplicates. Plus, a couple are upside-down. Either clearing the conflicting lines in one of them, preferably the /etc/xdg/xfce4 one so we keep the Xubuntu customization intact, or using a script to combine them with prioritized de-duplication in mind should do the trick. In any case, there are wrongly assigned keys (up per down and viceversa) That's why manually changing the shortcuts is a permanent (per user) fix. [Bug 1970043] Re: freeze occurs when wayland is connected to a second monitor
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. [Bug 1951033] Re: 20.04 SRU
(I removed some test cases around handling upgrades from 2.31-0ubuntu9.3 as that version got superseded by a security update) ** Description changed: [impact] It is time to update glibc in Focal. This bug is a placeholder for the overall process and a place to link the individual bugs that are being targeted: bug #1928508 Performance regression on memcpy() calls for AMD Zen bug #1899800 Runtime deadlock: pthread_cond_signal failed to wake up pthread_cond_wait due to a bug in undoing stealing bug #1892825 update-locale not perform correctly sanity checks bug #1918035 ld-2.31.so is not correctly packaged in libc6-dbg bug #1951032 AArch64: Backport memcpy improvements [test case] Each bug listed above has its own test case, of course. And glibc's own test case and the autopkgtests provide a good deal of assurance that things are working. But there are still some additional things we should test by hand. 1. We should test upgrades interactively in a container and vm and make sure long running processes still function so you can still ssh in and a desktop session continues to operate as expected, ideally on a variety of architectures. 2. We should build a core20 snap with the glibc from focal-proposed into a branch and test it with a variety of core20 snaps, on a variety of architectures. 3. For arm64 specifically, we should test that upgrades of machines that do and do not have libc6-lse from 2.31-0ubuntu9.2 installed go smoothly. - 4. We should create a system that has the problematic 2.31-0ubuntu9.3 installed, and check that the behaviour when the new version is available is sensible (the current plan is to refuse such upgrades but I think some more testing here is sensible -- it may be that such upgrades are actually OK). - 5. We should test graphical snaps with a variety of drivers (needs expansion!) - 6. We should test that upgrades from 2.31-0ubuntu9.3 show a warning both on the command line and when upgrading via update-manager (and that upgrades from other versions do not). + 4. We should test graphical snaps with a variety of drivers (needs expansion!) [regression potential] Rebuilding glibc is always a little risky (toolchain bugs and incompatibilities between the old and new versions can be surprising). glibc's own tests and the autopkgtests that will be run should catch any regression in the new version of glibc itself. However, the biggest source of problems recently has been around upgrades and interactions between the old and new libcs, whether that is different versions of libc6 in a snap and its base or when an long running process has the older version mapped but interacts with artefacts from the newer version on disk. The tests in this bug are aimed at catching any of these problems before it gets to updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951033 Title: 20.04 SRU To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1951033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1968506] Re: Xubutnu xfwm4 window tiling shortcuts not working as expected
The same happened to mi brand new xubuntu installation. Looks like the default shortcuts on the Window Manager Keyboard Settings are conflicting. At first Tiling only worked to super+left and super+down, but not right or up. While checking the shortcuts, I noticed the Numeric Pad ones are backwards: Super+(Right arrow) and Super+(Numeric Pad Left arrow) are used for the same Also with down arrow and up numeric pad. The fix is easy and permanent, just reconfigure the shortcuts and remove the conflict. checking /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard- shortcuts.xml all seems fine, only arrows and corner KP_{1,3,7,9} are assigned, thats odd! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968506 Title: Xubutnu xfwm4 window tiling shortcuts not working as expected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfwm4/+bug/1968506/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I started a fresh Impish VM and it was there, and loadable: $ find /usr/lib/modules -name nbd.ko /usr/lib/modules/5.13.0-35-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko $ grep -Rin "nbd" /boot/config-5.13.0-35-generic 2563:CONFIG_BLK_DEV_NBD=m 2577:CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RNBD=y 2578:CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RNBD_CLIENT=m 2579:CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RNBD_SERVER=m $ sudo apt-file search nbd.ko | grep generic linux-modules-5.13.0-19-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-19-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-20-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-20-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-21-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-21-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-22-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-22-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-23-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-23-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-25-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-25-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-27-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-27-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-28-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-28-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-30-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-30-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-35-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-35-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-37-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-37-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-39-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-39-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko linux-modules-5.13.0-40-generic: /lib/modules/5.13.0-40-generic/kernel/drivers/block/nbd.ko $ sudo modprobe nbd $ lsmod | grep nbd nbd53248 0 I then went on and mounted a qcow2 image to be sure, and it works fine. Could you please elaborate on what you are trying to do, and maybe I can help debug what isn't working? [Bug 1968391] Re: Unreliable wifi with loads of CTRL-EVENT-BEACON-LOSS
Version 5.15.0-23-generic still works great for me, no dropping WiFi at all. Version 5.15.0-25-generic is where the troubles started. Version 5.15.0-27 from the updates this morning has the same issues. For completeness sake, my output of lspci for the wireless card: 0d:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9462 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01) I did a bit more digging and pulled the source from git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/jammy and did a diff between -23 and -25 and search for anything related to ath drivers, but I didn't see much there. The only thing I did find related to wifi is about iwlwifi. There had been changes made to that code, specifically this from -24: - iwlwifi: don't advertise TWT support I did figure out how to compile Ubuntu kernels from Git so I'll try playing with that but I'm not terribly good at it yet. Have to figure out how to not overwrite my current -23 kernel with the .deb it makes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968391 Title: Unreliable wifi with loads of CTRL-EVENT-BEACON-LOSS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1968391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970290] [NEW] Resume doesn't work on Lenovo Yoga 260
Public bug reported: It worked just fine with previous versions of Ubuntu. I tried to switch back to the 5.13 kernel, and it appeared to work a little better, but didn't fully resume either, but appeared to get closer. With the 5.27 kernel, the LED for power continues to flash until you hold the power button down for a long time. With 5.13 the power light goes solid (as it should) but the screen remains black.
