[Bug 1876632] Re: [nvidia] Corrupted/missing shell textures when switching users or resuming from suspend
I've seen most people talking about the first solution that Nvidia documents, which is probably slow: "Save allocations in an unnamed temporary file" The faster solution would be: "S0ix-based power management" Both are documented in https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/510.54/README/powermanagement.html#PreserveAllVide719f0 I think this highlights why the bug exists in the first place -- keeping Nvidia GPU memory alive during sleep requires more power than the GPU would usually receive (or that you would like it to use) in a sleep state. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876632 Title: [nvidia] Corrupted/missing shell textures when switching users or resuming from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1876632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1970270] Re: LibreOffice localization is not working out of the box
** Description changed: Using Lubuntu 22.04 within a virtual machine made using virt-manager, KVM, and QEMU. When Lubuntu 22.04 is installed in a language other than English, the LibreOffice UI displays in English, despite the user's language choice. The issue can be worked around by running "sudo apt update" followed by "sudo apt install libreoffice-l10n-", where is replaced with the 2-character language code (for example, de or fr). This will cause LibreOffice to display in the correct language. I have tested using both German and French language options at install time - the problem exists in both scenarios. Reproducibility: 100% - Steps to reproduce: + Steps to reproduce (edited to be more precise): - 1: Create a new virtual machine as QEMU/KVM User session within virt-manager, using the Lubuntu 22.04 ISO from the official download page. - 2: When the live DVD boots up, start the installation process. - 3: At the first screen of the installation, select a language other than American English. - 4: Finish the installation using all the default options, and boot into the newly installed system. - 5: Open LibreOffice Writer. + 1: Open virt-manager. + 2: Add a connection to "QEMU User session". + 3: Create a new virtual machine under "QEMU User session". I set the OS as "Ubuntu 21.04", since that's the newest version of Ubuntu that my version of virt-manager supports. I gave the VM 20 GB of hard drive space, 4 GB of RAM, and 2 CPU cores. I didn't make any other customizations. + 4: Once the VM is running, select "Try or install Lubuntu" in the GRUB prompt. + 5: Once Lubuntu is done booting, double-click "Install Lubuntu 22.04". + 6: At the first screen of the installation, select a language other than American English. I tried using German and French, and they both reproduced the issue. + 7: Use the default keyboard settings for your chosen language. + 8: Use the "Erase disk" option when choosing where to install Lubuntu. + 9: Set your name as "User", your username as "user", your computer name as "user-germantest", and your password as "z". I also enabled automatic login here. + 10: Wait for the installation to finish, then reboot. + 11: Open LibreOffice Writer. Expected result: The UI should be displayed in the language selected at install time. Actual result: The UI displays in English, regardless of the language selected at install time. Additional notes: - I am using LibreOffice version 7.3.2. + I am using LibreOffice version 7.3.2 within the VM. I am using fully- + updated Ubuntu Studio 21.10 as the host OS. Prior to running "sudo apt update", there are no LibreOffice localization packages available in apt (as verified by doing "apt-cache search l10n"). After the update, the packages appear. I have not yet tested Ubuntu 22.04 for this problem, so I do not know if this applies to Ubuntu as a whole, or to Lubuntu alone. [Bug 1968506] Re: Xubutnu xfwm4 window tiling shortcuts not working as expected
It seems to me that these files in /etc/xdg are concatenated to create the user config, creating conflicting duplicates. Plus, a couple are upside-down. Either clearing the conflicting lines in one of them, preferably the /etc/xdg/xfce4 one so we keep the Xubuntu customization intact, or using a script to combine them with prioritized de-duplication in mind should do the trick. In any case, there are wrongly assigned keys (up per down and viceversa) That's why manually changing the shortcuts is a permanent (per user) fix. [Bug 1970043] Re: freeze occurs when wayland is connected to a second monitor
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. [Bug 1951033] Re: 20.04 SRU
(I removed some test cases around handling upgrades from 2.31-0ubuntu9.3 as that version got superseded by a security update) ** Description changed: [impact] It is time to update glibc in Focal. This bug is a placeholder for the overall process and a place to link the individual bugs that are being targeted: bug #1928508 Performance regression on memcpy() calls for AMD Zen bug #1899800 Runtime deadlock: pthread_cond_signal failed to wake up pthread_cond_wait due to a bug in undoing stealing bug #1892825 update-locale not perform correctly sanity checks bug #1918035 ld-2.31.so is not correctly packaged in libc6-dbg bug #1951032 AArch64: Backport memcpy improvements [test case] Each bug listed above has its own test case, of course. And glibc's own test case and the autopkgtests provide a good deal of assurance that things are working. But there are still some additional things we should test by hand. 1. We should test upgrades interactively in a container and vm and make sure long running processes still function so you can still ssh in and a desktop session continues to operate as expected, ideally on a variety of architectures. 2. We should build a core20 snap with the glibc from focal-proposed into a branch and test it with a variety of core20 snaps, on a variety of architectures. 3. For arm64 specifically, we should test that upgrades of machines that do and do not have libc6-lse from 2.31-0ubuntu9.2 installed go smoothly. - 4. We should create a system that has the problematic 2.31-0ubuntu9.3 installed, and check that the behaviour when the new version is available is sensible (the current plan is to refuse such upgrades but I think some more testing here is sensible -- it may be that such upgrades are actually OK). - 5. We should test graphical snaps with a variety of drivers (needs expansion!) - 6. We should test that upgrades from 2.31-0ubuntu9.3 show a warning both on the command line and when upgrading via update-manager (and that upgrades from other versions do not). + 4. We should test graphical snaps with a variety of drivers (needs expansion!) [regression potential] Rebuilding glibc is always a little risky (toolchain bugs and incompatibilities between the old and new versions can be surprising). glibc's own tests and the autopkgtests that will be run should catch any regression in the new version of glibc itself. However, the biggest source of problems recently has been around upgrades and interactions between the old and new libcs, whether that is different versions of libc6 in a snap and its base or when an long running process has the older version mapped but interacts with artefacts from the newer version on disk. The tests in this bug are aimed at catching any of these problems before it gets to updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951033 Title: 20.04 SRU To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1951033/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1968506] Re: Xubutnu xfwm4 window tiling shortcuts not working as expected
The same happened to mi brand new xubuntu installation. Looks like the default shortcuts on the Window Manager Keyboard Settings are conflicting. At first Tiling only worked to super+left and super+down, but not right or up. While checking the shortcuts, I noticed the Numeric Pad ones are backwards: Super+(Right arrow) and Super+(Numeric Pad Left arrow) are used for the same Also with down arrow and up numeric pad. The fix is easy and permanent, just reconfigure the shortcuts and remove the conflict. checking /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard- shortcuts.xml all seems fine, only arrows and corner KP_{1,3,7,9} are assigned, thats odd! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968506 Title: Xubutnu xfwm4 window tiling shortcuts not working as expected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfwm4/+bug/1968506/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1968391] Re: Unreliable wifi with loads of CTRL-EVENT-BEACON-LOSS
Version 5.15.0-23-generic still works great for me, no dropping WiFi at all. Version 5.15.0-25-generic is where the troubles started. Version 5.15.0-27 from the updates this morning has the same issues. For completeness sake, my output of lspci for the wireless card: 0d:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9462 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01) I did a bit more digging and pulled the source from git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/jammy and did a diff between -23 and -25 and search for anything related to ath drivers, but I didn't see much there. The only thing I did find related to wifi is about iwlwifi. There had been changes made to that code, specifically this from -24: - iwlwifi: don't advertise TWT support I did figure out how to compile Ubuntu kernels from Git so I'll try playing with that but I'm not terribly good at it yet. Have to figure out how to not overwrite my current -23 kernel with the .deb it makes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968391 Title: Unreliable wifi with loads of CTRL-EVENT-BEACON-LOSS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1968391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1970290] [NEW] Resume doesn't work on Lenovo Yoga 260
Public bug reported: It worked just fine with previous versions of Ubuntu. I tried to switch back to the 5.13 kernel, and it appeared to work a little better, but didn't fully resume either, but appeared to get closer. With the 5.27 kernel, the LED for power continues to flash until you hold the power button down for a long time. With 5.13 the power light goes solid (as it should) but the screen remains black. [Bug 1901724] Re: Systemd user environment generator is not executable.
I have seen this issue across three different Ubuntu releases now, latest being 22.04. After each upgrade, SSH logins (and git repo access) using my GPG hardware token stop working. [Bug 1970285] [NEW] Pomodoro screen overlay can't be dismissed
Public bug reported: When starting a short break within the Pomodoro app or the shell icon, the pop up that says 5:00 remaining can't be dismissed by moving the mouse, typing keys, escape key, or any other way that I have tried. It prevents me from using the system at all (although things like hot corner, Super + Q, and the Super key still works) because all keyboards and mouse goes into the overlay. I had to open a TTY and `loginctl kill-user `, re-log in, and then the count simply restart from 5:00. Waiting until it runs out make it stuck at 0:01, and I still can't use the system. Killing the session again works, and I was able to stop the pomodoro. During this time gdm3 got stuck at log in (circle no longer spins and freezes) and I had to `systemctl restart gdm3`. This happens on Wayland on hybrid Intel + Nvidia graphics. Not tested on X.org. Used to work on Wayland 21.10 IIRC (although a bit glitchy), so not sure what went wrong. [Bug 1970282] [NEW] Flatpak apps are not properly themed if a accent color other than the default is choosed
Public bug reported: If I use any accent color other than the default orange, flatpak apps use the default old adwaita theme. These is specially obvious/important if using the dark variant of the theme, as the flatpak app will use a light theme. I attach screenshots of a flatpak app when using the default accent color and a different accent color, as well as the list of the installed yaru flatpak themes. The used accent color seems to be installed. [Bug 1970280] [NEW] Dibbler-client fails to bind on ppp interfaces, fails to install, fails to build on Ubuntu 22.04
Public bug reported: Before I start: I know that the author of Dibbler considers this software unmaintained (https://klub.com.pl/dhcpv6/); yet it is included in the repositories, so here I am with this bug report. == Issue #1: Dibbler binds to incorrect link-local address of a ppp(oe) interface == After upgrading my home router from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 22.04, I have noticed that dibbler-client is no longer capable of starting up and binding to the PPPoE (PPP) interface created as part of my connection set-up process. This is how the link local addresses look like: rzajic@router:/home/work/dibbler/dibbler-1.0.1$ ip -6 a s dev ppp999 scope link 28: ppp999: mtu 1492 qdisc cake state UNKNOWN group default qlen 3 inet6 fe80::8157:b42e:45ec:96ae peer fe80::427c:7dff:fe93:d231/128 scope link valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever fe80::8157:b42e:45ec:96ae is my side of the point to point link fe80::427c:7dff:fe93:d231 is the ISP side of the point to point link (The addresses change on every reconnection, it's nothing sensitive.) Apr 25 11:00:39 router.local DibblerClient[86950]: Fatal error during TransMgr initialization. After a quick review, it became clear that the dibbler-client attempts to bind to incorrect IPv6 link local address. This might be related to how the new(er?) clients present the link local addresses. Using the script from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/d0u9/examples/master/C/netlink/ip_show.c, I can see that the link local address on my side of the point to point link is now represented as "local address", while on non-point to point links the link local addresses are represented as interface addresses. == family: 6 dev:ppp999 prefix length: 128 local address: fe80::8157:b42e:45ec:96ae (flags 128, scope 253) if address: fe80::427c:7dff:fe93:d231 (flags 128, scope 253) == family: 6 dev:tap4 prefix length: 64 if address: fe80::4048:1aff:fe2e:64f4 (flags 128, scope 253) This can be worked around by modifying the low level Linux code (note that there seems to be a bug in Dibbler code, which uses IFLA_ADDRESS [belongs to layer 2, e.g. MAC address] instead of IFA_ADDRESS): --- lowlevel-linux.c2022-04-25 23:56:08.736090768 +0200 +++ dibbler-1.0.1/Port-linux/lowlevel-linux.c 2022-04-25 23:30:35.889052974 +0200 @@ -277,7 +277,7 @@ if (!rta_tb[IFA_LOCAL]) rta_tb[IFA_LOCAL] = rta_tb[IFA_ADDRESS]; if (!rta_tb[IFA_ADDRESS]) rta_tb[IFA_ADDRESS] = rta_tb[IFA_LOCAL]; - memcpy(addr,(char*)RTA_DATA(rta_tb[IFLA_ADDRESS]),16); + memcpy(addr,(char*)RTA_DATA(rta_tb[IFA_LOCAL]),16); if (addr[0]!=0xfe || addr[1]!=0x80) { continue; /* ignore non link-scoped addrs */ } The local address is always set a few lines above the memcpy() call.
